Hey guys, it's finally time for the last chapter of this story! Thanks to anyone who has read the whole thing through and given me a positive or constructive review. I feel like I've gotten better with each chapter. I might fix the grammar of older chapters eventually, but we'll see. Finally, here's the final chapter!

Ch. 37: Epilogue

(Scarlett's POV)

Me, Midna, Link, and Princess Zelda stand at the top of the prison in front of the Twilight Mirror. Midna had woken us up from our little nap once she had talked to Zelda and then transported us all here.

Standing next to her, I'm still getting used to seeing her like this. She emits both beauty and strength without even saying anything. I can see why the Twili people made her their leader. She's definitely got the look down. But then I think about her silly personality and wonder if she's just that way with us…

"Thanks for coming with me," Midna says to us as she stares at the mirror. We nod and she taps the mirror. The Twilight mirror glows a bright white hue and shines a stretched-out portal in front of the four of us.

"I guess this is farewell, huh...As we all know by now, light and shadow don't mix. That doesn't mean that the world of light and the world of shadow aren't bound together. One can't exist without the other. But I think I know why the Goddesses left the mirror of Twilight in this world. We were destined to meet each other," she says to us with a gentle smile on her face.

I smile back and nod again.

"I think so too," I tell her.

She smirks caringly and looks toward Zelda.

"Princess, these two have been nothing but a blessing to me. They've been extremely kind and patient, though annoying at times," she finishes, giving us a glance. We roll our eyes and she chuckles, "...even so, I couldn't have found a better duo to help me. If all in Hyrule are like them, this world might do all right."

Princess Zelda lets a small smile form on her face as she nods.

"Yes, I have faith that most of us are."

"Good," Midna whispers. She turns around to the portal and walks up to it. Golden stairs of Twilight form for her and she steps up them in a quickened haste. She stops just in front of the portal and turns to us once again.

"Well, the Princess spoke truly. As long as this mirror is intact, we can meet again...Link...Scarlett…I..."

She pauses and her eyes begin to water. Seeing her tear up makes my eyes start to water as well. Link stands next to me with a sad smile on his face. The tear on Midna's face leaves her eye and drifts from her face. It floats slowly in front of her, and she pushes it away from her.

"See you later…" she says, just loudly enough for us to hear. The tear flies away from her and floats to the mirror of Twilight. Once the tear hits the center of the mirror, it lights up and starts to crack. The crack forms at the center and then spreads throughout the entire mirror. Link and I gasp in confusion and then look back at Midna. She looks at us with an expression of love in her eyes.

"Midna?" we ask her, not realizing what she had done just yet. The portal shines behind her and causes her body to dissipate from the bottom to the top. She never drops the look she gives us as she disappears into the portal. Immediately after her body disappeares, the mirror makes one last cracking sound before shattering.

"W-Why did she do that…" I say to Link and Zelda, a tear streaming down my cheek. Link frowns and rubs my back.

"I don't know...She's always been like this. She does things on her own without telling us," he says. Zelda hums and rests her hand on my shoulder.

"I believe she did it so something like this wouldn't happen again; the two worlds crossing over and causing disorder. You shouldn't be sad though, Scarlett."

I wipe my eyes and look at her.

"Why do you say that?"

She smiles.

"She said 'see you later'."

(Two Years Later)

I lay on the ground of Hyrule Field and pick at the blades of grass beneath me as I watch Link make the finishing touches to our home. It's something we've always talked about; a home to ourselves in a peaceful area. Luckily for us, we found a great spot in Hyrule Field that's covered in blankets of grass, near a beautiful waterfall, and not too far from Castle Town or Ordon Village. It's a decently sized cottage that could easily fit a family of four. Right now, Link's working on the last few windows that need to be set up. I would help him but the baby growing in my womb is preventing me from doing so. I'm not totally useless though! I get up and bring him a cup of cold water from the freshwater waterfall near us.

"You look a little sweaty, so I thought you could use something to cool you down," I laugh. He grins and takes the cup gladly.

"Ha, you're not wrong. It feels hotter than usual today," he says to me, wiping his forehead with his arm.

"It really does. You're doing great though," I tell him with a gentle kiss to his cheek. He returns my kiss with a peck on the forehead and sips his water.

"Thanks, it's almost done. One more window to go before we're owners of a house...A completed house," he corrects himself with a chuckle. I smile big at him and rub his arm.

"I can't wait. It's all so surreal to me. The house, the baby, and you. How did I get so lucky?"

"Maybe you were destined for happiness by the goddesses," he replies, "I know I was. Otherwise, I wouldn't have met you."

He leans forward and kisses me softly, lacing his fingers through my blonde hair.

"I know I always say this, but you're too sweet for your own good!" I exclaim. He simply chuckles and returns to the window he was working on.

"Yeah, well, you are too. If you see Dante, tell him I appreciate his help with the house. I don't think I could've built this all by myself. How are him and Zelda doing?" he asks out of curiosity. I lean on the wall of the home and think back to when I last saw them while visiting my parents.

"They're doing good! They're still trying to figure out how to go on dates in public without people swarming the Princess," I giggle. He shakes his head in amazement of the people of Castle Town and hammers in the last nail needed for the windowsill.

"I'm sure they'll figure something out. Annnnnnnnnd...it's done! We are now the proud owners of this lovely cottage!" He yells in excitement.

"Awesome!" I cheer, giving him a huge hug. He hugs me back and looks down at my tummy. I'm about 5 months pregnant so I'm at the halfway mark. I'm past the point of people wondering whether or not they should congratulate me for having a baby.

"Yep! How are you feeling? Is he or she giving you any trouble?"

I shake my head and look down at myself.

"Nope, I feel fine other than a few kicks here and there. What about you? You just finished building a house!"

He laughs and rubs the back of his head modestly. It's a small habit of his that I've always found adorable.

"Nah, I'm good!" He says. He then stops and I can see he's thinking about something.

"What is it?"

"Nothing, it's just I wish Midna could be here to see how far we've come since the last time she saw us," he says with a smile. I sigh and smile as well.

"Me too, I miss her a lot...You hungry? I have some stuff in the kitchen to make cucco soup," I tell him, wanting to change the subject. That, and I can feel my stomach growling. He raises his eyebrows at the mention of cucco soup and smirks.

"My recipe?" he asks.

"Your recipe," I reply with a grin. A spark ignites in his eyes and he rushes to the front door to open it for me.

"In that case, what are we waiting for!?"

I snicker at him and begin to walk towards the entrance. However, before I can, a familiar sound rings through my ears a few feet away from us. I look to my right to see a Twilight portal forming out of thin air. Link's eyes widen but then he grins.

"It's about time she showed up," he says. I look at him and then back at the portal in realization. A tall figure steps onto the soft grass of the field and smiles at us with her arms crossed.

"Well, well, well! You two got busy!"

"Midna!" we both scream as we run and embrace her. She brings us into a group hug and then brushes our hair like a motherly figure would.

"I missed you guys! Sorry I had to leave so abruptly...Never been good with goodbyes," she mutters.

"The important thing is that you're here now!" Link tells her, "you found a way to come back without the mirror?"

She nods.

"It took two years to do it, along with trying to gain the trust of my people back, but I did. I think I've done well in that aspect. I'm guessing Princess Zelda filled you in on why I broke the mirror?"

We both nod and she smiles.

"I'm glad. You two would have given me so much shit if I had told you what I was going to do…" she says before looking behind us, "I see you've built yourselves a house! I have to say, not bad! Got yourself a house, an upcoming baby, and your favorite person in the world back. What could be better!?"

"Nothing," I laugh. She's still the same old Midna we knew two years ago. She smirks again and rests her hands on our backs.

"Mhmm! Y'all thought of a baby name yet?"

I look at Link and we both shake our heads.

"Well, in that case, I think I can be of some assistance then! Come on, let's go think of one!" she says as she walks us to the house.

Never did I think I would be here when I first started my journey with Link and Midna. I honestly thought I would become a waitress at a bar in Castle Town or something like that. Destiny had a different plan for me though. Link and I were chosen to save Hyrule from the looming darkness that had taken over it. When everything was said and done, we came out the winners and did what we were meant to do. And now, I feel as though everything is perfect in my life. I couldn't be more grateful than I am at this moment. I hope that...when Link and I have grown old and move on from this world, our future selves can overcome whatever troubles that come their way...And that they can be as happy as Link and I are now.

If given the chance, I'd like to speak to them somehow in the same way our past selves spoke to us; speak to them and tell them that everything will be okay as long as they stick together and do everything in their power to protect Hyrule.

And that is the final chapter of the story! I finally finished it! I started the story back on April 25, 2016 and I just realized that it's been exactly five years! It's crazy that it turned out that way! This will probably be published on the 26th but it's close enough! I just want to thank every single person who has given the story a chance. All the reviews and comments you gave me were awesome to read and helped me keep going with this story! Like I said, I'll probably go back and fix some things in earlier chapters like the grammar and spelling. If you're curious, I'm currently working on a Hetalia and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order story so if you want to read those then go ahead! They're both somewhat similar to this story! Funny enough, I made the main character for the Hetalia story Scarlett as well. I guess I just like that name. Anyway, thanks again for reading and I hope you have a great day!
