Fading Memories

Chapter 37th

Special Agent Gibbs was working hard with getting the house into order. Now that he knows that his wife was coming home after three months in the safe house. He was in need of a drink while using his cane in order to pick up his clothes and other essentials in order to make the house a mess.

He had been alone for too long and he was sick and tired of it. Throwing the clothes into the washing machine with placing the detergent. He went back into the kitchen to wash up the dishes using the white dish towel to dry the dishes and placing them into the cabinets.

Looking at the time. He heard a noise on the front porch having to be his usual mailman dropping off his mail or packages. Gibbs slowly walked outside with his cane to check the mailbox to find the usual junk mail and a letter from his wife of all things. She didn't mention it over the phone.

Gibbs walked into the living room placing the garbage mail onto the coffee table in order to read the letter from his wife...

"Dear Jethro,

As I write this letter I am in the midst of an emotional cry. I am so tired of being without you and our family. Those last four years have been very difficult for me Jethro.

I don't wish to lose you and our boys to the throws of the Cartel or anyone else. I have already lost enough over the years with myself blaming for the death of my daughter Elizabeth. She was so much like your own daughter Kelly now living in Orlando, Florida with her own family.

I am thrilled Jethro that you have her back in many ways. No doubt your sanity will be saved with her and as well with Shannon having her cancers in remission.

While I write this letter outside in the back yard of the quarters that I am staying. The weather is just gorgeous along with having made myself a Turkey club sandwich. The baby and I are growing at leaps and bounds into my ninth and final month.

I have been told by Jethro that I will be able to have this watermelon in two weeks.

I have a name for this baby even though we did talk about it a number of times. How about we go with Daniel James Jackson Gibbs instead of David James Jackson Gibbs?

Nevertheless Jethro I still love you a great deal and including all of our scars between us.

Love,

Loreile,

your soulmate

Gibbs had placed the letter back into the white envelope and onto the coffee table. Currently, he needed to take a nap with feeling fatigued emotionally and physically since he was 100% with his health. Since he's home now from the hospital. He still had to speak with Doctor Grace Confalone in order to get back to work at NCIS.

Grabbing the blankets over his body. He had closed his eyes to sleep not realizing that his dreams will be back.

DREAM SEQUENCE...

Special Agent Gibbs had been separated from his team after a shoot-out in the alley. he had been running after one of two suspects for murdering another Marine at Quantico.

He tried calling McGee on his cell phone trying to catch his breath. However, McGee wasn't answering. All of a sudden he felt alone in the alleyway. It was beginning to get dark. Pulling out his flashlight into his hand along with his service revolver in the other.

Gibbs continued to walk slowly being careful with his moves searching into the garbage containers, cans, and anything else that was placed in the alleyway.

After some time he was getting frustrated when all of a sudden he heard some time of noise before the gunfire erupted. He ducked down behind one of the green garbage containers firing his weapon and missing.

Bullets flew past him. However, Gibbs needed to move to head back out of the alleyway running...

It was a moment later when he hears a noise with one of the suspects telling him that he was cornered. Gibbs continued to move when all of a sudden he felt the burning sensation of the bullet hitting his back dropping to the cement in severe pain...

"NOOOO!" Gibbs woke from the dream that seems so real to him...he needed to get off the couch to head for the bathroom to throw some cold water on his face.

He was drying his face with taking a hard look to see the crow's feet under his eyes. He was going to be needing to use the cream that his wife had him used the past months making his features much younger under his eyes.

Walking back out of the first-floor bathroom to head back over to the couch. This time he wasn't able to sleep any further. But instead grabbed the remote to watch TV with scanning the stations for a possible interesting movie.

He was able to find one with John Wayne with THE SANDS OF IWO JIMA on TCM movie channel. No matter how many times this movie is playing. He will never get bored watching the movie.

SOMETIMES LATER...

Leroy Jethro Gibbs heard a car pull up in front of the house. Looking at the time on his watch squinting. It was his wife Loreile and her escort getting out of the rented vehicle.

His heart began to race on him with the excitement of seeing her for the first time in three months. He was able to tell that something had changed maybe it was her hair or the fact she was in her ninth month of pregnancy.

"Mrs. Gibbs I will now leave you. Good luck with everything. I will be sure to let the safe house know that you had made it safe and sound." She had replied to her charge now released to her loved one.

She headed back to her rented vehicle to head back to the highway of the airport and her Comfort Inn suite for the night.

As for Lorele, she walked into her husband's embraced with tears falling down both of their faces...
