Chapter 37: Storm the Castle
All four the first year students were taken to the hospital. Star got her own room, not because she was a princess but because she was girl and it wasn't a good idea for her to share a room with three boys.
But yeah… they were in the hospital after what happened, to check any injuries they had gotten…
Most of them were minor, but there were a couple big ones.
Star was just laying on her bed bored when Ryukyu showed up.
"Hey…" said Star.
"There's something we have to talk about with your classmates… and don't worry you're not in trouble." Said Ryukyu.
"I get the feeling like they are though…" admitted Star.
Ryukyu didn't say anything as they headed to the boy's room.
"Star." Said Izuku.
"Izuku, Shoto how are you guys feeling?" asked Star .
Tenya flinched at the fact that that she didn't ask about him.
"I'm doing okay.," said Izuku.
"Good." Said Star.
As turned out Gran Torino anted an injured Manual showed up.
Tenya looked even more guilty.
"Grand Torino." Said Izuku.
"There's someone else who need to see you, and even has to talk to the Princess over there…" said Gran Torino.
That was a man with a dog's head entered the room.
"I am Kenji Tsuragamae… the chief of police for Hosu… Woof…" said the man who was the chief of police.
"Woof?" thought Izuku unsure how to respond to that.
"Stain has severe injuries, severe burns and several broken bones. Right now he's under strict guard, woof." Said Tsuragamae, "Here's a lesson you already should have learned, when quirks became the norm. The police force sought to maintain the status quo. We decided we wouldn't use quirks as weapons. That's when heroes came in. They decided they could do what we couldn't. If they were silenced of course. It would be impossible for the police to condone the use of deadly quirks. After all we're here to stop such harm from being done. The reason why pros can use their powers now because of a strict code of ethics. The heroes chose to abide by. That's why it illegal for uncertified people cause injury."
Izuku flinched.
"We saved Iida, Native and Manual!" yelled Todoroki.
"So that makes it okay to do whatever you want?" asked Tsuragamae, "Just because you did something right means you can just break the laws?"
Shoto flinched.
"However even so, Iida while not breaking the rules still put himself and Manual in danger." Said Tsuragamae
Tenya flinched.
"I'm sorry… I was so blinded in my anger that I wasn't thinking." Said Tenya.
"You better apologize more." Muttered Star.
Tenya cringed when she said that.
"You should have listened to you friend." said Manual, "She was right…"
Star nodded.
"However unofficially…" said Tsuragamae giving them the thumbs up, "I want to thank you all for stopping the Hero Killer. You all did a good job."
"There is a but coming isn't there?" asked Star.
"Officially myself and Endeavor will be the ones getting the credit in defeating Stain." Explained Ryukyu.
"That's good… it would have been so annoying if Endeavor got all the credit." Said Star.
"The truth is for most of you to take the credit, we would have to arrest you for acting as vigilantes, while Tenya did have permission there is some problems involved with him…"
"So it's either keep quiet about the truth or arrest us without covering it up." Said Shoto.
"Yes…" sighed Tsuragamae.
"But why isn't Star in trouble?" asked Shoto.
Star laughed nervously at that.
"You're right. Princess Butterfly is not in trouble… because she hasn't broken any laws." Said Tsuragamae, "This has nothing to do with her diplomatic immunity but rather due to the combination that she had permission and the fact that her abilities are not a quirk."
"What…" said Todoroki.
"I'll explain later." Sighed Star.
"That explanation is just going to be her telling him I told you so…" thought Izuku.
"Trust me… I didn't believe it at first but learning the truth about Mewni… was something of an eye open…" said Tsuragamae.
"That's okay… the classmates who believe me got weirded out too when they learned it was true." Said Star, "Also since no one else is getting credit can you please keep it on the downlow that I helped quite a bit… after everything with the Sports Festival I want to keep it quiet…"
"that's one of the reasons why you're not getting credit." Said Ryukyu, "though I will have to tell you mother the truth…"
"Yay… telling my mother the truth…" said Star very sarcastically.
"I will explain people and how you didn't think it was the Hero Killer." Said Ryukyu.
They were told that both Endeavor and Gran Torino would face punishment in their stead along with being bad teachers.
Once again, Ryukyu gave Star permission and the only problem with what they had was the lack of information on what Star thought she would be dealing with when she rescued her classmates.
After a bit the adults left leaving Star to deicide to hang out with her friends or go back to her room.
"Star…" said Tenya.
"I'm going back to my room…" said Star rather coldly, "I'll see you guys later."
Once Star left both Izuku and Shoto looked at Tenya .
"Star is really angry at you." Said Izuku.
"I know…" sighed Tenya.
"Does this have to do with her training you?" asked Shoto.
"Wait what?" asked Izuku .
"She knew about my wanting revenge and well it's a long story." Said Tenya.
He told Izuku about how Star offered to help him train to be ready for Stain. However they stopped because it was too intense for him (and that Shoto knew about after finding Star attacking him with a knife) and after stopping him she confessed she figured she didn't stand a chance against him so she made him promise not to go after Stain… but of course he worded the promise not to go after Stain alone.
"She knew I didn't stand a chance and she made me promise not to go after him…" said Tenya.
"I'm sure if you talk things out she'll stop being angry." Said Izuku, "I mean she's not on good terms with Tom after everything…"
"But that's different." Said Tenya.
However before the conversation could continue, suddenly a portal opened up.
They looked at the portal unsure how to react.
Plus all of them were injured, and with them in the hospital whoever opened the portal meant they had the advance .
Meanwhile, Ochaco was taking a short break at the agency's dojo.
"I'm going to the bathroom." Said Ochaco.
"Of course." Said Gunhead.
Ochaco wondered if she should call Izuku about the text she had gotten.
However as she was walking a portal opened up behind her.
She screamed as several monsters came through the portal and grabbed her.
The heroes heard her scream and ran to where the scream came from only to find the hallway was empty.
"No…" said Gunhead.
Back at the postal, Star was laying on her bed grumbling.
"Hey you sound grumpy." Said Nejire walking into the room.
"Nejire!" cheered Star.
"So it's the stuff with Stain." Said Nejire, "Because I heard about the cover up."
"No I'm all down with the cover up… I'm not supposed to be a hero… it's better if people think I was a damsel in distress." Said Star.
Nejire giggled.
"So what's got you all grumbly?" asked Nejire .
"IT's Tenya… this wouldn't have happened if he just listened to me." Muttered Star.
"Yeah… it does stink." Said Nejire.
"Wait a second I totally forgot!" said Star, "I forgot to explain to Shoto about magic!"
"Oh yeah… a lot of your classmates don't believe you." Said Nejire.
"Yeah." Said Star, "You also want to meet my friends?"
Nejire nodded.
They went back to the boy's room to find it was empty expect for a lump in Izuku's bed.
"Hey Izuku… are Shoto and Tenya having tests?" asked Star shaking the lump.
That was when the lump started to rise. Slow, and the blanket moved slightly revealing the fly monster .
"If you ever want to see your friends alive again, come to Ludo's castle alone and bring the wand." Said the Fly like monster who then flew out of the window.
"Wait… were they just…" said Nejire.
Star didn't know how to respond.
She went back to her room and found where her wand was and thankfully her scissors were there too.
"Star… are you really not going to tell anyone?" asked Nejire.
"This isn't like a Villain from Earth…" said Star, "Ludo's been getting smarter… I don't think the heroes can help with this."
Star used her want to turn her hospital wear into an actual outfit.
"We don't know how much smatter her has gotten… but I can't take my chances…" said Star.
She opened up a portal leaving the older girl behind.
Nejire didn't have to do anything as she heard shouts from the boy's room about the three students being missing.
Inside of Ludo's castle the three boys were angry, they were inside a glass cage, but it wasn't made of glassed, but something else. They had tried to use their quirks to break out but whatever the crystal was made out of it was strong, very strong.
That was when a couple monsters showed up with a sack, a door opened up on the cage and they tossed the sack before any of them could try to the escape the cage.
The sack started to move, however.
"Ow…" said Ochaco's voice coming from it.
Izuku opened it and of course she was the one inside.
"What happened?" asked Ochaco
"Now that all of you are here I'll answer your questions…" said Toffee.
"Where's going on?" asked Shoto.;
"You were taken as bait for Star Butterfly… you just happened to be there, the other three probably figured as much." Said Toffee.
"Were you the one that exploited our weaknesses during the fight?" asked Tenya.
Toffee smirked.
"So you did notice that… yes, I was the one to come up with the plan of exploiting the fact that Izuku breaks his bones and Ochaco's nausea." Said Toffee .
"And the gum?" asked Izuku.
"That one was all Ludo's…" explained Toffee with a shrug, "A broken clock is right twice a day."
"Where is Ludo?" asked Ochaco .
The monsters all laughed.
"We mutinied…" said Toffee , "After that incident with all that hair, we knew we couldn't keep him around…"
Izuku was blushing .
"Hair?" asked Shoto.
"Don't ask…" said Ochaco while Izuku hid his face.
"Don't worry, if Star listens to me, you all will be safe." Said Toffee, "And if she brings a bunch of heroes with her…"
"So what is going on exactly…" said Shoto.
"Go ahead and explain it to him." Said Toffee, "I'm sure you have plenty of time…"
Meanwhile Star wasn't too far away from Ludo's castle .
She ran towards it ignoring any pain she had.
That was when she saw Ludo and Buff Frog talking with a nearby sack.
"Narwhal Blast!" she yelled. Zapping the two.
"I'm going to guess it's Izuku! Since it's so small! No way you can fit Tenya or Shoto into this sack…" said Star .
She opened it and it wasn't Izuku like she thought.
But rather a bunch of tadpoles.
"Tadpoles?" she asked.
"What?" asked Buff Frog.
She zapped him again.
She then walked over to Ludo with her wand glowing brightly.
"Ludo… where are they?" asked Ludo .
"Who… are they?" asked Ludo.
"She must be talking about her friends…" said Buff Frog , "Gravity Girl, Engine Boy and Bone Breaking Boy…"
"Oh right them…" said Ludo.
"Actually replace Ochaco with Shoto…" said Star.
"Shoto uh…" said Ludo.
"It's okay… it's someone you never met…" said Star.
"I see…" said Ludo, "I have no idea where they are."
"Then why did I get a summons to your castle?" asked Star.
"It is no longer his castle." Said Buff Frog .
"He's right…" muttered Ludo, "It's Toffee's castle now."
"Toffee?" asked Star then remembered the running theory, "Wait is he the guy you hired that was way more competent than you are?"
"Yes… wait how did you know about that?" asked Ludo .
"IT was a theory that we all kind of assumed was true." Said Star, "It was kind of obvious you weren't behind that weakness plan."
"Hey! The thing with the gum was my idea!" said Ludo.
"I see…" muttered Star.
That was when she noticed that Buff Frog was cooing at the tadpoles and got weirded out.
"Okay I'm done here." Said Star.
"Wait! Wait! Wait!" yelled Ludo following after her.
"Wait! Ludo! I wanted to thank you for giving me the gift of fatherhood." Said Buff Frog.
"That wasn't a gift you moron, it was a bribe. You see I give you something because we're friends and you help me fight Toffee because we're friends." Said Ludo, "But I don't need you any more, because I have her now…"
Ludo followed after Star while Buff Frog just watched him leave.
Back in Ludo's castle , Shoto just stared the other three.
They had explained that everything Star said was true and they were in fact in another dimension and the teachers knew everything.
"Considering what the chief of police mentioned earlier… I think I believe it now…" said Shoto.
"Why haven't you broken out yet?" asked Ochaco.
Shoto sent out a wave of ice as the walls of the cage and even with the immense pressure the walls didn't break.
He quickly melted the ice so that he would hurt the others in the cage. And then turned up the flames to show that it wouldn't melt the "glass".
"I did try my own methods." Said Tenya.
Ochaco looked at Izuku.
"I haven't tried anything…" he admitted.
"Please wait until Star is here before you do…" said Ochaco.
Izuku nodded, as it was a plan for him to do just that should she show up.
Even if he could control his quirk better considering how strong the cage was yeah… he didn't want to shatter his bones… again…
They could only hope that Star would show up soon.
Outside of the castle Star arrived and Ludo was still following her.
"Good luck getting there!" mocked Ludo.
"There's keys in the gate…" said Star.
"Must be part of Toffee's plan." Said Ludo.
The keys had a Ludo keychain on them.
"Those aren't mine." Said Ludo.
Star rolled her eyes as she headed not the castle.
"Wait!" yelled Ludo, "You need the element of surprise! Toffee is really powerful."
"I had to save my friend from a crazed serial killer last night when I thought I would have to save another friends from weird monsters… I can handle this guy." Said Star.
"Oh that explains the bandages…" said Ludo, "But still you could always use help and lucky you I know this castle like the back of my hand!"
He then showed off a mole on the back of his hand causing Star to cringe.
"I sneak into the castle and you blast Toffee right in the face! It's the circle of life!"
"What?" asked Star.
"Do we have a deal?" asked Ludo holding out the mole hand.
"I'm not touching the mole hand." Said Star .
He held out his other hand.
"I don't want to touch your skin with my skin." Said Star pushing Ludo away with her foot.
That was when Buff Frog showed up carrying the tadpoles.
"Don't trust him… I will guide you through the castle." Said Buff Frog.
"I don't trust you either." Said Star.
If Buff Frog had joined the program she would probably trust him, but he hadn't, so she didn't.
"I am father now. You don't have to trust me." Said Buff Frog placing the tadpoles into a fountain, "But consider the alternative."
Star noticed that Ludo was once again trying to steal her wand. But she just zapped him as he tried.
At the same time he was fashioning the fountain into a makeshift backpack to carry his new adoptive children.
They headed into the castle, but Buff Frog stopped Star to give her a warning.
"Wait… wait before we go inside" said Buff Frog, "Toffee is not like Ludo…"
"I know that… he came up with a plan to break Izuku's fingers." Said Star, "Ludo would never come up with a plan like that."
Buff Frog raised a finger in the air but then put it down realizing she was right.
Star headed inside to the castle.
"Wait we need plan!" said Buff Frog.
They headed inside.
Inside the dining room which was where the four was being held captive, Toffee was bickering with the fly like smother over a large stack pillow due to that was what Ludo would use.
Star saw the cage.
"They got Ochaco too!" said Star in surprise.
She turned to the two helping her.
"Okay! Here's the plan! On the count of 1, we go!" said Star.
"That is terrible plan!" said Buff Frog.
"One!" said Star.
She ran into the room.
"Wait Chad! We can grab the wand!" said Ludo.
Buff Frog glared at Ludo and followed Star.
It's also better it's not mentioned why Ludo though his name was Chad.
Star ran into the room.
"Ah Star so you finally joined us." Said Toffee
Star however blasted him and the attack was so hard she blew his arm off.
She then zapped three of the monsters turning to little chibi things.
She then pointed her wand at the cage.
"Super Sonic Leech Bombs"! called out Star.
She sent out leeches at the cage which were glowing.
All four of them ducked when it exploded.
But the cage wasn't damaged in any way.
The four instead the cage stared at this…
"Deku… please don't try to punch our way out." Said Ochaco.
Izuku nodded knowing that his arm wouldn't be able to survive.
However the other monsters began to attack her .
Thankfully Buff Frog came to her defense to the surprise of those in the cage (minus Shoto who was just confused).
Star and Buff Frog did shrug at them because of this.
Though the fight wasn't over and Star knew she had to get them out of the cage, she jumped to a chandler. She held her wand out and made it a magical Arora around it which shot out a missile from it.
But it still wasn't enough.
She jumped down for the chandler and the mothers tried to attack her.
However she created some start of blue energy filled with heart preventing them from attacking them .
"NO!" she practically growled out.
She held up her wand as it glowed along with her cheek marks and eyes.
She shot out a powerful beam from the wand that exploded the cage.
She looked at what he had done and started to celebrate.
"I did! I did!" cheered Star.
She ran into the cage and accidently tackled Izuku and Tenya.
"Sorry… I was just so excited." Said Star.
Ochaco and Shoto who managed to escape getting tackled left the cage. She helped her two friends up.
"Come on!" said Star.
She grabbed Izuku's arm to get him out of the cage.
However before either Izuku or Tenya could leave, the glass of the cage suddenly regrew.
It even regrew around Izuku's arm, but he was able to get it out. But the hole was quickly filled.
As it turned out Buff Frog was taken out. Knocking him to the ground.
Shoto was about to fight them off.
However…
"Stop!" called out Toffee making sure that he didn't fight.
He stood up and they all watched in horror as his arm regrew.
"That's no way to treat our guest of honor." Said Toffee.
Toffee then took out a remote control of some kind and suddenly the cage began to sink to the ground.
"Oh no! No! NO!" yelled Star.
She readied her wand.
"that's not going to work again … that's crystal is twice as strong now." Said Toffee.
Star's eyes winded at this.
She watched as Izuku channeled his quirk throughout his body and Tenya used his engines.
Even with Ochaco going touching the cage to lighten the load it would be that way for long.
She jumped onto the table.
However she wasn't going to fight.
She just drop her wand on a plate.
"Take it… just let them go." Said Star.
That was when Ludo decided to make his move, he jumped on the table and was about to take the wand.
However the check like monster grabbed Ludo with his beak.
"Do you think I'm like Ludo?" asked Toffee, "Jut swallow it."
And the chicken like monster swallowed the Kappa.
He pushed the plate back to Star.
"I don't want your wand… destroy it." Said Toffee.
"What?" asked Star shocked.
Ochaco covered her mouth in surprise (and some nauseousness), while booth Izuku and Tenya were focused on trying not to get crushed but were surprised.
Shoto was just confused .
"SURPRISE!" said Toffee with a demented grin.
"I can't… I don't know how…" said Star.
"Yes you do, the first spell that was ever taught to you." Said Toffee .
"The whispering spell." Said Star .
"Exactly…" said Toffee, "Tenya and Izuku are waiting."
She looked at her friends and knew what she had to do.
"I'm sorry…" she told the wand.
She began to whisper, as she did the wand began to turn grey, the wings be to designate, the jewel slowly turned black.
Once she. Was done she placed down the wand and it opened up, whatever the spell did it killed the unicorn. And it emerged as a ghost.
It began to roam around Star and whispered something at her as Star started to cry.
The ghostly unicorn then ran away.
"I did it… now let them go…" said Star.
Toffee looked at Shoto who was ready to fight if the lizard didn't hold up his end of the bargain.
However Toffee had no plans to go back on it.
He pressed the remote.
It moved back into place and the door opened. She ran over grabbed both Ochaco and Shoto shaved them back into the cage while making sure Izuku and Tenya didn't leave.
She moved the door.
She looked at Buff Frog who was waking up.
"Run." She told the frog monster.
"My babies!" cried Buff Frog .
He picked up the tadpoles and got out there.
"Star… what's wrong?" asked Tenya.
"It's not over yet." Said Star.
"Wait… you don't mean…" said Ochaco.
"Gentlemen… it's been a pleasure." Said Toffee.
The monsters were confused, but the wand began to shake.
The monsters all began to freak out. With the check like monster laying an egg in fear before running away.
While the monsters just freaked out, Toffee just grinned as he knew w this was going to happen.
And soon the wand blew up with a massive explosion.
"Thanks to the strange of the cage, they were safe, but almost everything else was obliterated, except a jacket that Toffee owned and the egg that the chicken laid.
"Guys! Look nature!" said Star.
They looked at the egg which hatched… but it wasn't a baby chicken but rather Ludo.
"Ew…" said Star.
"Did not need to see that…" cringed Ochaco.
"Where is my castle?" asked Ludo.
"It's gone." Said Star.
"And the wand?" asked Ludo.
"That's gone too." Said Star.
"Everything?" he asked, "WE ARE NO LONGER FRIENDS!"
'We never were…" said Star.
"Form this day we're mortal enemies and this day I vow…" said Ludo taking out his dimensional scissors.
However Star grabbed his scissors and opened up a portal with them and tossed him in.
"Star…' scolded.
Before Star could say anything in presence something crash landed.
They all decided to see what it was, going to the crater that was created.
Inside the crater was the remains of the wand.
Star grabbed Izuku and Ochaco hugging them.
That was when a voice called out in "Scusa"
They all looked down and saw a very serious looking small horse.
The Horse had a case, which contained a unicorn horn and put it on.
He then went down into the crater and entered the remains of the wand. Which then sank back into the ground.
Shoto noticed everyone else's confused faces.
"So I'm not the only one lost." He said.
Before any of them could answer suddenly crystal emerged from the ground.
Star went into the crater. Where the large crystal emerged.
The crystal opened up and it was a wand.
Similar to her old want yet different.
It was a lighter shade of lavender, with a darker stripes crisscrossing the handle, the wings were much larger as well. The charger was now a gold heart instead of a blue crystal heart.
However the most concerning thing was the fact that it was missing half of its crystal.
It floated over to Star who held it.
"Looks like you got an upgrade." Said Ochaco.
That was suddenly they were surrounded by nights .
"What?" asked Shoto.
"Don't worry!" said a voice, "We are Here!"
They turned to see it was All Might.
"All Might! How!" said Izuku.
And it was clear that All Might wasn't alone.
As Gran /Torino was next to him… as well as Ryukyu, Nejire Gun Head, Endeavor and Aizawa.
"Can you please explain how you got into so much trouble in the last 24 hours?" asked Aizawa.
Ochaco looked at the other four… Izuku, Star and Tenya were all laughing nervously, while of course Shoto kept a straight face.
"How did you get here?" asked Star.
"I had to tell them about the kidnapping." Said Nejire.
"And your mother gave me a magic mirror after all." Said Nezu emerging from Aizawa's scarf.
"Why were you in there!" yelled Star.
"And they called your mother and I." said one of the knight opening up the visor revealing it was King River.
Not too long later, all of them (Heroes and students) were in front of King River and Queen Moon in the throne room.
"So basically just to recap…" said King River.
"You're not to going to that are you?" asked Queen Moon.
"Do what?" asked King River.
"You know when you talk and your teeth do that little whistle thing when you say words with an "S"…" sighed Queen Moon, "I love you honey, but I can't deal with that today…"
Queen Moon then got up.
"Star… I have no complaints about last night. However you turn around and do this… Escaping from a hospital and destroying your wand… is there anything I left out?"
"Um… I…" said Star.
She didn't know what else to say….
"Well that's all… and the wand is fine…" said Star, "Mostly…"
Queen Moon looked at the wand.
"I'll get it cleaned for you…" said Queen Moon taking the wand.
"Please don't be mad…" said Star, "That looks like a mad face."
Queen Moon ended up hugging Star.
"So you're not mad?" asked Star.
"Oh I'm always mad." Said Queen Moon "But I'm happy you're safe."
"But if the rumors we heard are true about the one who kidnaped you, it's probably better if everything is kept quiet." Sighed Nezu.
"You're right…" said Queen Moon, "considering Toffee's reputation here in Mewni… I ask you all to keep quiet about this kidnapping."
"Wait… what?" asked Star.
"How is you brats get into two separate cover ups in less than 24 hours." Said Gran Torino.
"Wait… 2?" asked Ochaco.
"Gran Torino…" sighed All Might face palming.
"What? I don't know what I'm talking about…" said Gran Torino acting like he senile.
Izuku sighed .
"He's bene doing that our entire turning." He sighed.
Endeavor glared at the Queen, becoming angry about both this ordeal and what happened the night before.
"Honestly… my son shouldn't have gotten kidnapped." Muttered Endeavor.
"Excuse me…" said Queen Moon.
"It was clear that he at the wrong place at the wrong time…" said Endeavor. "It's your daughter's fault that he was kidnapped and from the sound of it your entire family's fault…"
Queen Moon walked over to the flaming hero.
And slapped him, slapped him hard.
Those from Japan were shocked.
"How dare you!" yelled Endeavor.
IT was clear he was going to fight back at the queen.
"Are you an idiot?" asked Gran Torino.
Before Endeavor could react to that comment. The knights
"Gran Torino is right, you have to remember we are not in Japan right now." Pointed out Nezu.
"Antagonizing a Queen is not the wisest move." Said Aizawa.
Endeavor glared at the teacher.
"After today should you ever step foot in the Butterfly Kingdom you will be detained." Said Queen Moon.
Shoto looked at the queen in awe.
"I think she just wanted to slap your dad…" Star whispered to Shoto.
Shoto nodded remembering what Star said during their match, that her mother had overheard everything.
"Now you four have to get back to the hospital… after all your haven't recovered from your injuries with the fight last night." Said Nezu.,
"We're going to have tell Uraraka." Said Izuku.
"Unfortunately…" said Nezu, "And we do expect her to keep what happened a secret…"
"Don't worry I will bring you back your wand." Said Queen Moon.
The heroes were provided portals and they all left.
Once they were gone, Queen Moon walked over to a magic mirror and called Glossaryck.
He was deeply concerned by what happened and asked if they found all of the pieces.
Which Star didn't…
And indeed the missing piece was still out there…
And would soon cause problems for them in very unexpected ways…
