Chapter 37: And straight on 'til morning

Emma, David, Mary-Margaret and Rose arrived at the park where Henry was playing, being watched by Granny. They all got out of the car except Rose. They turned to her, but she shook her head.

"This is a family matter. Only family should be involved in this conversation."

Mary-Margaret felt a pang in her heart. To hear her sister say that. Not recognizing that they were family. It was too much, and tears came to her eyes. David was also hurt by her words, but put on a brave front and squeeze her wife's shoulder. Emma frowned but nodded. If she had been in Rose's position, she would have done the same.

They saw that Gold was at the park too. So, Mary-Margaret told Emma to go talk to Henry, while they spoke with Mr. Gold. They explained what happened. How Neal was lost to the portal with a grave injury. They told him how Greg and Tamara had the trigger to destroy Storybrooke and anyone that wasn't born in that world. But he didn't care, he paid the ultimate price for magic. He lost his son.

"I brought magic to this world to find Bae, and now he's dead. Magic always has a price, and this, this is it. But I'm prepared to pay it." Mary-Margaret tried to tell him how he would die too. "Well, I've made my peace with that."

He turned to leave, but David had one last thing to say.

"She will die too!" Gold stopped. "Rose wasn't born in this world. This trigger will kill her too."

Mr. Gold looked to David's car and saw Rose inside, giving him a sad smile. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath and kept going.

Back at the apartment, they told Regina what happened, and she informed them that Hook was back and working with Greg and Tamara. Then there was a tremor that confirmed their fears. The trigger had been activated.

If they couldn't stop it, Henry would be the only one to survive. He wasn't too happy about it, and neither was Rose.

"Wait. Why do I have to die?"

Everyone looked at her not really knowing what to say. Emma decided that it was better to focus on the matter at hand. She asked Regina how to stop it, but she didn't know how. They started to argue and Henry begged them to stop. He didn't want to lose anyone else.

Then Hook made his grand entrance, but before he could say much, David punched him in the face. David threatened to do worse if he didn't explain himself.

"I think threatening to kill me seems a bit redundant when we're all about to die anyway." He said stroking his nose with a smirk. "I have to say, I see the family resemblance, but spitfire over there hits harder than you."

Rose looked at him with a raised eyebrow. The man looked familiar, but she couldn't place where she had met him. Then it clicked.

"You shot me!" She said pointing at him.

Hook was about to respond, when Rose hit him with a right hook that had him on the ground. She was going to go for another hit, but Emma held her back.

"See." Said Hook with a grunt. "Harder than you, your highness."

They discussed what to do. In the end, David and Hook went to find the magic beans. Emma and Regina went to slow down the diamond. And Henry, Mary-Margaret and Rose went to round up everyone, so they could escape.

Mr. Gold was in his shop, when he heard a commotion. He went to the front and saw the dwarfs looking through his items. Finally, they found what they were looking for. Sneezy's stein. Grumpy got out the potion Blue had just finished, and told Gold all about it.

The potion would restore the lost memories, if it was drunk out of something important from their past lives. With that, the dwarfs started to leave, to give Sneezy the potion back at Granny's. Belle entered at that moment and saw that Leroy as staying behind.

"I asked her to make a second dose. This is for you." He offered him another bottle with the blue potion.

Gold didn't take it at first, so Leroy turned to Belle.

"Belle, you and Rose once helped remind me who I was. I've never forgotten. I wanna return the favor. Don't let her die without her memories. Not without trying everything."

He put the potion on her hand and left. She turned to Gold and smiled with tears in her eyes.

"There's still a chance."

Now, the problem was finding something important from Rose's life in the Enchanted Forest that she could drink in. Belle asked him what he had, but he shook his head defeated. The only things that were really important to her past life were the phoenix figurine and her daggers.

"No. There has to be something. Gather everything that was hers, and let's find Mary-Margaret. She must know what can work."

Everyone was at Granny's. David and Hook said that they had a bean, and Emma explained Regina's sacrifice. They started to bounce ideas about what to do, they decided to use the bean and follow the same strategy they used on the wraith, with the trigger. Emma argued against it, but in the end agreed.

They were making their way outside, when Mr. Gold and Belle arrived. Belle was carrying a box of stuff that she dumped on one of the tables.

"Mary-Margaret, which of these things could we use for Blue's potion?" She asked the teacher.

Mary-Margaret was startled and didn't know what they were talking about, but Leroy quickly explained. Everyone started to look through all the items, and separating the ones that could be used to drink from. Mary-Margaret frowned and shook her head.

"None of these are important enough or suitable to drink from." She said with her voice breaking.

"I'm no expert on this past life of mine, but if I was going on adventures, wouldn't I have a bottle or flask? It's basic equipment. I have my godfather's canteen back home." Said Rose.

"Of course!" Said Mary-Margaret with a big smile. "Father's flask. He gave it to you for your first adventure."

They looked at the objects, but there was no flask. Everyone let out a sigh.

"I know where it is." Said Henry. "When I wanted to leave, I took a flask from your apartment and put it on my bag!"

He grabbed his bag on took out a flask with a leather cover. Engraved in red were the letters R. R.. They quickly emptied the potion on it and looked expectantly at Rose. She took it hesitantly.

"Well, bottoms up." She said drinking it in one gulp.

A blue light covered her, and when it diminished everyone looked at her waiting. She looked at them and frowned.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Everyone looked down. "If we want to help Regina, we have to get a move on."

Everyone started to make their way outside, when Henry stopped.

"Wait! Until now, you never called my mom by her name, but now you just called her Regina." He turned to Rose with a grin. "Does this mean you remember?"

"Yeah." She said ruffling his hair. "But we have more important things to do right now."

Everyone cheered, and went on with the plan. Gold grabbed Rose's hand.

"Do you remember everything?" He asked her hopefully.

"A little bit more than before." She saw the others leave. "Look, we can talk once this is over. This is not going to be the end. Trust me."

She gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, winked and followed the others. He looked after her with a small smile, and Belle hugged him with happy tears in her eyes.

The trigger had been deactivated thanks to Emma and Regina, but Greg and Tamara had used their magic bean and took Henry with them. They didn't have a way to follow them, until Hook came back with the Jolly Roger and the remaining bean.

Gold said that he had a way to locate Henry, so they decide to go find him. Everyone got on board, except Mr. Gold, Rose, Belle, Ruby and David. Gold told Belle to stay behind, even if she didn't want to. He told them how the town was not safe any more. He gave her a cloaking spell, so she could use it to protect Storybrooke.

Belle agreed and took a step back. Rose looked at David and nodded to Ruby.

"Ruby, we will need you to help Belle with the spell, and keep the town together until we get back."

The waitress nodded and put an arm around Belle's shoulders.

"I know you two can do it." Said Rose with a grin. "With your brain and your temper, I fear for anyone that gets in your way."

The other two laughed and waved goodbye to their friend.

Once everyone was on the ship, they found out that Henry was in Neverland. While Hook was getting the ship ready, the rest turned to Rose. They asked what she had remembered.

"Well, I remember my whole life here. Even the missing year." A frown appeared on Rose's face. "But there is something else. There is a memory that wasn't there before. I'm in some kind of jungle, and a boy is in front of me. Then I'm pulled by something and end up in what I assume was the Enchanted Forest, but a purple mist envelops me. And that's all."

"Then you lost your memories before the curse affected you. That is why you never recovered them. Once the curse was broken, everyone went back to who they were right before it took effect." Explained Regina.

"Then, this boy you saw must be the one responsible for your memory loss." Said Mary-Margaret. "If we find him, you can get your memories back."

"Well, if I see that big eared punk again, I'm gonna tear him a new one." Growled Rose.

"That's the spitfire I know." Chuckled Hook. "And you will have your chance sooner than you think. We are on our way to Neverland."

He threw the bean and the Jolly Roger fell in the portal. Gold looked at Rose. If what she said was true, then this journey was even more important. No one got away with hurting his firebird. Not even Pan.

AN: A new chapter! This one is short too, but we are on our way to Neverland! Rose and Pan will have quite the confrontation.

I probably won't be able to get another chapter up until at least Friday. But you know that I suck at consistency, so I won't make any promises.

As always, thanks for taking the time to read my story! :)
