The children were walking silently for a mile because of the schock caused by the encounter with the torvosauruses and the ankylosaurus. After their walk the three of them sat down to mop their wet clothes up. Maddy searched her bag and found three chocolate bars. She gave one to each of the two others – who genuinely smiled. Even if Emma and Gray were constantly arguing and totaly different – they loved each other. Even if Maddy and Gray were different – they started to like each other and form a friendship.
The trio then climbed up a hill hoping to find the park. But they had to venture the forest again. But everytime a dinosaur sound was heard – the children turn their head. « Here's what would happen if dinosaurs didn't become fossils. », « What do you mean ? », « Humans would be forced to hide in dark caves and venture at night only. », « We're not in The Good Dinosaur. ». Then Gray coughed.
Then Maddy spotted a small white object – prompting Gray to retrieve it. It was a worker's helmet and there was blood on it. « I'm scared ! », « Don't worry. Your aunt is going to find us. My father sent at least one of his men to accompany her. I know him. ».
Then they saw the wreckage of an empty monorail. After getting close to it – they heard someone yelling and saw footprints on the ground. Maddy prefered not to talk because she was afraid of getting Emmalin and Gray even more terrified. The three children then saw the man who yelled. It was Ed Regis. He was now bleeding and covered with leeches. « Hey Gray ! It's Aunt Claire's chopper colleague ! » Emma said. A dinosaur-shaped creature then appeared. It was the green young tyrannosaurus. Regis and – at further distance – the children froze with fear.
But Regis' phone ringed. It was Lowery Cruthers who tried to call him. He only had time to switch it off. But the dinosaur then started to play with him.
Emma – Gray and Maddy then saw the young tyrannosaurus lower its head before raising it with pieces of flesh between the teeth.
The children swiflty and silently left the monorail wreckage before stopping to spit off. They were traumatized. Maddy never saw someone die in a so gruesome way as the only person she saw dying was her grandmother who died peacefully. Emma and Gray never saw someone die short. The three of them then ran into the jungle.
