Chapter 37

I park my car as I look around, there was a lot of people here already and it was yet to even be 08:00. I take a deep breath and shake my head from side to side. I should not be here. I should be at home resting, but instead I found myself at the Golden Falcons sport grounds. I pull out my phone and I press the contact button. I look for the name I was searching for and then I press dial.
It rings once and then twice and then she picks up. "Hey love, did you drop of Toby at day care?" Lisanna asks and I smile as I nod my head, full aware that she couldn't see me.
"Yeah and I'll pick him up later. I am just going to be at this thing for an hour or so then head home." I say into the phone.
"Okay love, don't stay to long if you don't feel well. Did you drink your antibiotic?" she asks and I nod yet again.
"Yes babe." I say and I smile, it was actually nice to have Lisanna with me the whole week. She took care of me like she should have. And we spent some good time with Toby. It almost made me feel like a family again. It almost made me remember why I loved her so much. But I shake my head. "I'll let you know when I get home." I say and I hear Lisanna on the other side 'hmmm.'
"Okay, love you." The words felt warm as they filled my ears. But before I manage to return them I end the call. I take a deep breath, things weren't back to normal and this week didn't change anything as of yet. I still felt cold towards her even if I didn't treat her differently. It was business as usual for me. For some reason it felt more like going to work when I left the police station and taking on the position of a husband.
I look down my contact list again and I call Laxus as he had begged me to come today. He was on my case day and night ever since Monday. "Laxus?" I ask when he answers the phone.
"Where the fuck are you?" I hear him say and I frown as a cough escapes me.
"I am at the place, where are you?" I ask as I look around trying to find his car, or him or anyone I knew. But I saw no one I knew.
"I quickly went home to get a jacket and I will be stopping at the shop but Lucy is there, just go to the field and you will find a tent for our station." Laxus rushes and I frown, what the hell was he talking about?
"A tent for our station?" I ask a bit surprised looking around yet again.
"It is a district event so all the stations are there, we have a tent on the field. Just call Lucy." Without another word he end the call and I sit in my car looking at the screen of my phone in disbelieve. What the flying fuck was going on? But before I could manage to look up the blonde's name on my phone there is a knock to my window and Cana is next to my car smiling and waving.
I open the door and get out, pulling my jeans and jacket straight as I close the door and push my phone into my pocket. "Natsu! I didn't expect to see you here." Cana states taking a step to me and extending her arms but I shake my head at her.
"Yeah, I wouldn't have come, still sick with the flu." I say and at this she nods her head at me taking a step back.
"Well why are you here then?" Cana asks as I look around.
"Just to show support to our team?" I ask and at this she nods her head and she continues to smile. I look her up and down and she is wearing some loose jeans and a t-shirt, nothing to special.
"Awe I think when everyone is here I should take a croup picture and send it to Erza, since your showing her your support." At this I raise a brow because it wasn't for Erza, it was for a certain little blonde that begged and pleaded as well. "I think Mavis would also be surprised, I think I saw Laxus here as well, and you guys never attend these things." I just nod my head and that's when my eyes fall on Lucy.
The blonde is standing with a group of people smiling and laughing, she's even handing out hugs as she goes around. I smile as I see Lucy but I feel a hand on my wrist as Cana pulls me towards a different direction.
"Our group is over there, come fill in the attendance list." Cana states and at this I just nod as I look at Lucy one last time, she is wearing some shorts, accenting her beautiful long legs, with black tank top and a oversized shirt which is over her one side showing her shoulder. She paired it with some cute black socks and sneakers. She looked so sporty as she shakes her head. But I am dragged from the blond and to the people from our station. I stand off to the side at fist just greeting the people I know.
It seems that everyone was here except for Jellal, but then I heard that he had a funeral that he had to attend to so his absenteeism was understood. Gray even showed up and he was all smiles as he greets the people sitting around. It seems that Cana had arranged the local church to make us some barbeque for the day. Such a sweet person.
"Natsu you came." Laxus says as he extends his hand to me and we shake hands before I look to the field where I see people are gathering.
"You forced me." I say as I zip up my jacket, it was overcast today and slightly cool and with my cold I needed to stay warm.
"I did not." Laxus states as he stares at me in disbelieve.
"So we are starting off the events with a 5 km walk." Levi states as she comes up on my side and I smile to her.
"You guys go along." I say as I look around for a seat I could steal.
Cana wasn't having any of that as she grabs at me and pulls me next to her. "Come on, we will walk slow." Cana states as Levi joins me on my other side.
"I really don't feel too well." I say as I try my best to get out of this, I look to Laxus with a pleading look and he just shakes his head as he takes his place next to Cana and I assume anywhere else but next to Levi. "I don't see Lucy doing this so I'll sit out." I say as I franticly look around for the blonde and then I see her as she walks past people greeting them, smiling as she goes, she moves to the front.
"You want to join Lucy?" Laxus says with a frown on his face and then he chuckles, he knew something I didn't it seems. Cana pulls me forward as she move to where Lucy is and Laxus and Levi follows suite.
"If she is going to start in the front then so should we, lets show them our station spirit." Cana says with a big smile, well she was smiling up until we see one of the Lieutenant Colonels who used to work at our station and who frequently did long distance races make his way towards Lucy, hugging her as they greet. I raise a brow as I look at them and then see Cana and Levi really getting amped up. "We just walk at a fast pace." Cana states and at this we all seem to nod, I was shaking my head from side to side. And that's when the guns goes off and the people start walking… And when I say this I mean myself, Cana, Laxus, Levi and Cana.
Lucy took of not even full speed as she kept pace with the Lt Colonel as they jog with ease and I am in awe as she makes this look effortless. "Fuck she's running." Laxus states as he lets go of Cana and he pushes forward. I look to Cana who has a determined look on her face as she to leave my side and soon I am left walking aimlessly with Levy as we watch Lucy jog at ease, and Cana and Laxus running after her like their lives depended on it.
"Lucy used to be a jogger." I hear Levy say from besides me and I nod my head, she had mentioned something like that a bit ago.
"I can't believe Laxus and Cana is so winded." I say as I continue to look at them. Lucy looks to her side and then she looks back and she looks over the crowd behind her and it seems she sees Laxus and Cana and she slows down yelling something as the Colonel runs forward. I see Lucy say something and then Cana replies something her face just expressed irritation.
Lucy looks back and then her eyes land on me and she waves and she turns to Laxus and Cana and she speaks loud enough for me and Levi to also hear this, as well as the people around us. "Loser buys the first round of drinks." At this Cana looks to Lucy and narrows her eyes before she starts to sprints forward, Laxus laughs as she slows down and then Lucy just smiles as she picks up speed, not even putting effort into it as she passes Cana to the point where there is no way Cana can beat her.
About 1 km from the end I persuaded Laxus and Levi to take a short cut and we just ended up going into the bar. It wasn't long before Lucy walked in with a smile. And about 9 minutes later Cana joined completely out of breath.
"I had no idea you could jog." Cana says as she grabs at her water.
"There is a lot you don't know." Lucy states as she pulls her phone out and answers it, she listens then she smiles as she looks to our group and nod to us before walking out. When she returns she has Hibiki and Zeref with her.
Levi had decided to leave us so it was now me, Laxus, Hibiki, Zeref and Lucy and Cana. We make space for the new arrivals and we grab at our bottels of water. "So we missed the fun run?" Zeref asks and at this Lucy nods her head.
"Yeah but next it's you, me and Laxus for the blinde relay." Lucy states and it seems that Cana is still trying to catch her breath.
"I can't." Zeref states as he places his wallet on the table.
"No backing out. Besides I'll buy you a drink if you do it." At this Zeref's eyes lights up.
"I'm still drunk from last night." Zeref says and at this we all chuckle.
"Told you not to drink." Laxus says as he shakes his head to the younger male.
"Come on let's get this done." Lucy states as she stands and soon Laxus is up and Zeref is up as they follow the blonde. I sit and watch as Hibiki settles in and drinks some of his water.
"She is going to kill us today." Hibiki says and at this I furrow my brows.
"Why?" I find Cana asking instead of me.
"Because she has been so excited for today." Hibiki states and at this Cana just narrows her eyes.
In no time they were back and Zeref was the top dog as he flashed his certificate for coming in first place with Aries. I applaud him as he sits down I see Lucy disappear to the bar and that was when trouble hit us full force. At 09:00 on a Friday morning, with four rounds of drinks already paid for as she manages to carry most to all of the drinks and shots to the table where we are sitting. Cana looks at us in disbelieve.
"You can't drink, you on duty!" Cana states and at this Lucy rolls her eyes and I swear Cana almost popped a vein as she stared daggers at Lucy. "Besides its 9 AM." Cana states and that was until Lucy pushes a drink in front of her.
"It's 5 PM somewhere." Lucy replies as she takes a sip of her drink. I look at her in disbelieve and then she pushes a beer towards me.
"No, I can't" I say as I shake my head.
"I don't give a fuck." Lucy says as she smiles and then she is back at the bar and someone else is hugging her and buying her a shot.
"What the?" I ask and I look to Laxus who shrugs and takes a sip from his beer.
"It's her birthday month…" Zeref replies and at this both myself and Laxus frown as we tilt our heads looking at the younger male. "It's written on the fucking board in their office, how didn't you notice?" Zeref asks and at this I look to Laxus who just shakes his head but he takes another sip. Lucy comes back to the table and she takes a seat next to me, then she looks to Cana and smiles as she watches the elder female take a small sip, Lucy just smiles as she tilts her head back and she downs the remaining of her drink before she takes another bottle from the table.
At some point Lucy was a few drinks in front of us, well her and Zeref because it seemed that they both could hold their liquor as we continue to drink. Her phone rings and she answers as politely as she could. "Lucy hello." She answers but she was tipsy as hell and we could see it. She giggles and then she looks all serious as she looks to Zeref. "We are coming!" she yells and then her phone is on the table and she grabs at Zeref and Hibiki.
"What the!?" Hibiki asks as he looks to her and at this she just giggles.
"We are going to miss the relay! I signed me and Zeref up but we need a third! Come on Hibiki! I'll buy you a drink!" She didn't even need to say please because both men were right behind her as they rise and they start to walk to the field.
"Natsu let's go watch drunk people run." Laxus states and at this I laugh, because we were just as drunk as they were. But we get to our feet and watch as our group join up with the other groups at the announcement table. We move slowly but steadily towards our stations people and we see our commanding officer and Colonel Bora and everyone gathering around.
"You think we stand a chance?" Mavis asks her husband and at this he chuckles.
"Well apparently your station won the fun run and the blind relay. So this might be a piece of cake." He replies and at this Mavis looks to me and I wave to her like a idiot and so does Laxus. She furrows her brows and moves towards us.
"Aren't you supposed to join?" Mavis asks and at this I laugh.
"I am sick ma'am." I reply and she furrows her brows even further.
"Lucy got Zeref and Hibiki, they are younger." Laxus states as I chuckle finding his words completely funny. Yes, I was drunk as fuck. Liquor and antibiotic did not work well.
"Lucy? I haven't seen her all day!" Mavis says and at this we both chuckle knowing full well that we were busy getting smashed in the bar. We see that they are still talking at the announcement table and I frown and wobble a bit. "Have you been drinking?" Mavis asks and at this Laxus snorts and I try my best to keep my composure.
"No ma'am." I manage to say and at this Laxus turns to the side again. Mavis just rises her brow and then look back to the group as it seems that they have come up with some terms for the winners. They all shake on it and then we see the groups move into place. First we had a lady from the detectives, who would be handing over to Zeref, Zeref would hand over to Lucy and Hibiki would do the last sprint.
We wait in anticipation as they take their places. "I hope we win." Mavis states and at this Laxus snorts again. We hear on the announcer for the runners to get ready and then the bang to start goes off and our member starts running at full speed. My eyes are trained on Lucy as she stands there swaying from side to side. She looks to her side and it seems that she had men running with her, she gives a little smile and then she pulls off her over size shirt as she gets into place stretching, she looks to Zeref who nods and then she looks to Hibiki.
Zeref grabs for the relay stick and then he sparks off, faster then anticipated as he runs towards Lucy. She seems so read but as soon as Zeref approaches her she starts running and she grabs the relay stick and soon Zeref is hunched over as he gets sick and Lucy is yelling and screaming as she runs like a bat out of hell. No sooner we see this myself and Laxus burst out laughing and Mavis and the others look to us as we laughing knowing full well alcohol and running is a big no-no. But run, Lucy runs and soon she is approaching Hibiki and we are in the lead.
And fuck we won. We actually won, with three completely drunk fools running. As Hibiki runs over the finishing line Lucy is still running and it seems Zeref has gained his senses as he makes his way over to them. I hear Lucy scream as Hibiki turns around and he waves in the air that we won. As soon as Lucy nears Hibiki he reaches out towards her and she jumps up into his arms as they yell and scream in joy. We find ourselves also running towards them, well some were stumbling, some were speed walking like Mavis and I was just trying to keep my breath at bay as I make my way over to them. As soon as Hibiki lets go of Lucy she jumps up and down spinning around.
"You guys won!" Mavis says a bit too cheerful and Lucy and Zeref and Hibiki turns to her with big goofy grins on their faces.
"We won!" Lucy states as she sees me and Laxus and she runs to us. "We Won!" She yells again! "Drinks…." She looks to Mavis who shakes her head from side to side smiling. "Drinks are on me!" She yells and we cheer as I grab her and she comes in closer for a hug as she hugs me. She is sweaty and sticky but I don't mind. Soon Laxus has his arms around us and he's hugging us, and Hibiki and Zeref joins as we just have a group hug. It almost seemed unreal.
When we finally let go we make our way back to the bar, and true to her word Lucy has not only a line of drinks but shots waiting for us. Fuck we were going big today. At some point Cana came by and sat with us again, drinking a drink. Then she mentioned that the food is ready. Lucy, Zeref and Hibiki went to plate up because I wasn't too sure I could stand on my feet.
"I need to get more smokes." I say looking towards Laxus and he smiles shaking his head.
"No you're just looking for an excuse to leave." Laxus says and to this I look to my watch, 4 hours had passed and I almost had to go pick up my son from day care.
I throw my empty packet of smokes to Laxus who throws it to me again. I actually had to do something to get sober enough to pick up my kid from school. "I have to pick up Toby soon." I say and at this Laxus raises his brow.
"See!" He yells at me and I shake my head as there is now parcels placed in front of us as Lucy takes a seat next to me.
"See what?" Lucy asks as she smiles and to my surprise there was another female among the returning group.
"Natsu wants to leave." Laxus says and to this Lucy sits down next to me shaking her head from side to side.
"Nope. Cosmos just came." Lucy says and to this the other females waves her hand to us.
"Guys this is Cosmos, she is my girlfriend, I thought she could join us." Zeref says placing his arm around the female who smiles brightly.
"Hey!" Laxus greets and extends his hand to her but he struggling staying still. I see her face light up as she takes his hand and shakes it.
"I just wanna go get smokes." I say and I look to Lucy who smiles to me.
"He's not gonna come back." Laxus replies shaking his head. "Let Lucy go with you. She will make sure you come back." Laxus states and at this she beams nodding her head in agreement.
"Yip, I'll go with you so you can come back." I snort a bit but nod my head as I slowly stand up and the blonde follows suit. "We will be back soon! Hold my beer Lax!" Lucy beams grabbing at her phone and then she grabs at my arm, hooking her arm with mine as I try to steadily walk. She helps a little as she swayed by my side.
"You didn't have too." I say as I start leading her to my car.
"Absolutely have to make sure you come back." She says wiggling her brows at me and at this I shake my head.
"I would." I say as I put my hand into my pocket and fish out my car keys as I press the unlock button and walk to the passenger's side. I open the door and she un-hooks her arm from mine as she slides into the passenger's side. I close the door and move to my side. When we are both in the car she makes sure we both have our safety belts on before she turns towards me in her seat and she smiles to me.
I start the car and I know the garage isn't that far since I stayed here when I was younger. I watch as she smiles and looks out the window as we start to drive. "Today is so much fun." She states as she looks back to me and she beams.
"I could think of more fun things." I say as I take a turn and at this she frowns and she almost seems innocent as she sits there. But soon we stop at the garage and I unbuckle the safety belt and pop out of the car asking her if she needed something.
"Jelly tots!" She yells and some people look to her then me as I smile and nod my head.
Soon I am back in the car with my smokes and her jelly tots and I am buckled in as I start the car but as I drive back I drive a bit slower to give her time to open her sweets and eat them. I watched her and how carefree she looks popping a sweet in her mouth.
"What's more fun than drinking with friends?" she asks as she looks out of the window and just then I remove my hand from the gears and I place my hand on her bare leg and its soft and smooth and hell she was warm. She looks to me and she giggles as I move my hand up her leg to her thigh to the point I touch between her legs over her shorts.
I hear a little moan escape her mouth and then I fiddle around trying to find her shorts button and zip opening both. As soon as she notices my intentions her cheeks go bright red as she takes in a deep breath. I am driving at a very slow pace and it would take me longer to get back to the venue then what it took us to get to the garage. Lucy places her hand on mine and I'm not sure if she's pushing my hand down or pulling it up but soon I can feel her silk panties. Another moan leaves her mouth and then she pulls my hand away.
"You don't like it?" I ask and at this her eyes meet mine and she has the sheepish expression on her face.
"I can't… But I want to." I hear her say as I move my hand back and I rub her over her shorts as another moan leaves her lips and it's the sexiest thing that I have ever heard. She clenches her thighs together as she arches her back. I feel her shivering and I casually take a turn as the venue comes into view. She grabs at my hand again and this time I leave it. For a moment I watch as she brings my hand to her lips and she pops my forefinger into her mouth and she lightly sucks at it. Holy fuck.
But as soon as this happens she takes our hands down. "We can't. Not here. There is too many people around." She says and at this I look around and sure enough there were a lot of people.
"I could have made an excuse to drive around a bit more." I say and at this she almost looks shy as she pulls at her shirt and she zips up her shorts and does the button. Her eyes meet mine and she shakes her head, she even looks flushed as she looks to me.
"Not like this." She says and at this I just nod my head. There was a time and a place for everything and our time was not right now. She left the car before me but she waited for me as we made our way back.
