Glad to see you all again, hope you're ready for me. This weeks chapter is a little short but I hope you all enjoy it nonetheless.
Chapter 37: Where's Alice?:
Varian screamed as he fell backwards. He had just finished upgrading the hot air balloon that they had used to return to Corona. Rapunzel and Eugene were taking a trip to the Spire Vault since a friend of theirs was in trouble. Varian had managed to modify the balloon so that his friends could get to the spire as quickly as possible. Now, the flames of the balloon would be hotter and last longer, so the balloon would fly like the wind. Now instead of taking weeks to get to the spire, Rapunzel and Eugene could be there and back in a day.
Varian had been initially worried about the path Rapunzel and Eugene were flying, for it flew right over Kresten Loch, the frozen sea. But, as he learned time and time again, Rapunzel was known to do the impossible, so he knew he didn't have to worry... much. Also, as his sister reminded him time and time again, he should really know the princess he was talking too when discussing things that were dangerous. That was when he tried to step away from the balloon, only to fall backwards and onto the streets of Corona, sliding out of his boots.
"Who glued my boots to the ground ?"Varian demanded, slightly irritated.
"That was for your little balloon prank earlier. Eugene Fitzherbert, never forgets !"Eugene exclaimed, holding a bucket of glue and a paintbrush before placing the brush in the bucket and setting them down on the ground before crossing his arms.
Eugene was referring to a prank Varian had pulled only five minutes before. Eugene had been reaching out to touch one of the thrusters of the balloon, and Varian scared him into thinking that it would explode, causing the man to scream like a girl. Luckily, Varian was only messing with his friend. But now, Eugene found himself with the paintbrush, that he had used, glued to his hand. The sight of this caused both Varian and Rapunzel to let out a laugh as the alchemist reached into his backpack to find one of his serums. More specifically, the one that removed glue.
"This reminds me of the pranks me and Al used to pull on each other ,"Varian said, removing his boots from the glue and slipping them back on his feet.
"Where is that sister of yours anyway? I figured she'd be here ,"Eugene questioned, using the serum to remove the brush from his hand.
"Me and Alice can spend more than five minutes apart ,"Varian told him, crossing his arms.
"You should have seen her when you were taken by Cass ,"Eugene said, shuttering at the memory of the keyblade master's rage.
"It's different when one of us is in mortal peril. Besides, she's back home cleaning out her room, if you must know, and she knows that I'm here with the two of you. So we both know their no need to worry ,"Varian explained, placing the serum back into his backpack.
"I've noticed that she's been busy lately, what's with all the chores ?"Rapunzel asked.
"That was actually her idea. Apparently, she thinks that, being a girl her age, it's time to move out on her own. So, she's been trying to delay it for as long as possible. To be honest though, me and Dad don't want her to go anywhere anytime soon, so we... kind of, encourage the distractions ,"Varian said, smiling sheepishly.
"Wait, how old is she, she looks like she's only nineteen ?"Eugene asked, having assumed that Alice was close in age to his girlfriend.
"Actually, she's twenty-six ,"Varian told him.
"Wait what! But she... she looks so young !"Eugene exclaimed, shocked that Varian's own beautiful sister was his age.
"And what, you don't look young? I thought you were past that Eugene ?"Rapunzel asked.
"I am... but she looks amazing for someone our age ,"Eugene said, rubbing the back of his head.
"And so do you ,"Rapunzel told him, giving her boyfriend a quick peek on the cheek.
"Moving on from the age shock, Alice hasn't used her room since she left for Arendelle, and we never changed her room. So currently, her room is fit for an eighteen year old and she is planning on making it a room for an adult, not a teenage girl ,"Varian explained, putting away the tools that he had used on the balloon.
"Speaking of when she left; have either of you seen Ballora since... what happened ?"Rapunzel asked as Eugene got into the basket of the balloon with her.
"No, it's strange in all honestly. We haven't heard from her since she saved us back at Cass's tower. I don't know why she hasn't tried to talk with us again ,"Varian told them.
"Do you think she lied to you about wanting to be friends with Alice again ?"Eugene asked, having heard all about what Ballora told his young friend.
"I don't know. After everything that happened with Aurora, and most recent events, I'm not sure what to believe when it comes to Ballora anymore ,"Varian said, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath.
"I'm sure she'll come around eventually ,"Rapunzel said, offering her friend a small smile.
Varian smiled back and helped his friends to launch the balloon. He watched as the balloon rose higher and higher into the sky, taking his friends to their destination. Varian waved goodbye as the balloon took off and his friends waved back.
"Good luck, see you when you get back !"he called as the balloon flew above the rooftops of Corona.
"Bye Varian, thanks for the help !"Rapunzel called back.
"And say hi to Alice for us !"Eugene cried.
"Will do !"Varian called back, watching as his friends vanished into the horizon before turning for home.
Told you this week's chapter was short, but short and sweet in my opinion. Either way I hope you liked it and that you're looking forward to next week's chapter.
