Ichika managed to win in his duel against Peggrin, but it's not over yet. They still need him to release the souls of Chifuyu, Conner, and Mila. When Ichika won, Peggrin seemed to have disappeared.

"Any sign of that rat?" Houki asked.

"No, but he couldn't have gotten too far." Cecilia said.

"He's not getting out of our deal." Ichika said. "Let's keep looking." All six of them continued to look around. They're going to make sure that Peggrin keeps his word and release the souls he captured.

...

Peggrin

Peggrin retreated to his private chambers in the tower. He thought victory was his, but Ichika managed to steal it. As he placed the three cards that had the captured souls on his desk, he was coming to terms with what has happened.

"I was so close." Peggrin said. "I almost had it all, but it was all for nothing now. Holding on to these three would be pointless. Besides, I'm a man of my word." Peggrin kept his end of the bargain. He used the power of his patch and released the souls he captured. Conner and Mila were waking up in the castle. Chifuyu woke up in the hospital. She knows that her younger brother was responsible for saving her. "It's done." Peggrin has accepted he defeated, but he wished it didn't happen. He turned to the portrait of the woman with despair. "I'm sorry, Cynthia."

"Poor, Peggrin. Coming so far to lose so much." Peggrin turned around and was met with Evil Ryu.

"You're that friend of Ichika. I already released the souls I captured." Peggrin said.

"I'm not here about that. I couldn't care less about that." Evil Ryu said. Peggrin could feel a dark presence coming from him. He knew to keep his guard up.

"Who are you?" Peggrin said.

"Like you, I desire the charm that Ichika possesses. You desire power, don't you?" Evil Ryu said as he held up his pendent. "For the kind of power you desire, you would need all eight mystic items."

"You possess one too?" Peggrin said. "Interesting. I thought Ichika's charm could help me, but perhaps yours could be of use to me."

"Don't be so sure you can take it." Evil Ryu said. "You're weakened from your duel against Ichika. You can't take mine so easily, but I can sure take yours!" He unleashed some power from his pendent. The power knocked Peggrin against the wall and hurt him. "I told you. You might have some power, but I hold greater power."

"Who are you?" Peggrin said.

"I'm just a guy who wants to collect all eight items." Evil Ryu said as he walked over to them. "I'll do anything to get them. So, I thank you for this." He grabbed a hold of the patch. The next thing anyone heard was the sound of Peggrin screaming.

...

Ichika's Group

All of them heard the scream as well. They all recognized it as Peggrin's voice. They also knew that it didn't sound good at all.

"Did you all hear that?!" Charlotte said.

"That sounded like Peggrin in trouble!" Ichika said.

"It came from the tower!" Laura said. All of them ran as fast as they could from the tower. When they got there, they saw Crone and a couple of his other workers were carrying him out. He looked like he was in bad shape.

"Crone!" Ichika called as they all caught up to them. "What happened to Peggrin?"

"I'm not sure. We found him like this." Crone said. "He appears to be in bad shape and needs some rest."

"But we need him for something." Ichika said. He was going to try and get Peggrin to wake up, but he noticed that something was missing. He was shocked at what he did see.

"I'm sorry, but there's no time. We must attend to his well-being" Crone said as he carried Peggrin away. They walked past all of them and took Peggrin somewhere he can get some rest.

"Great. The weasel managed to give us the slip and got out of doing what he promised." Rin said. They thought this was what Peggrin wanted, a way to get out of the deal. Charlotte did noticed that Ichika seemed quite shocked about something.

"Ichika? What is it?" Charlotte asked.

"Peggrin's patch... It was gone." Ichika said. Ichika looked to the tower. He knew that none of this had to have been Peggrin's trickery. "Something happened up there. I think we better check this out." Ichika went on ahead to investigate what happened up there with the girls following. They made it to the top, but they didn't see a thing up there.

"Anyone see anything suspicious?" Houki said.

"It all looks the same as the last time we were here." Cecilia said.

"You were in here before?" Ichika asked.

"We'll tell you later." Rin said. "We don't even know what happened up here. I still say that maybe Peggrin was trying to get out of your deal, Ichika." Ichika wasn't entirely convinced that's what happened. As he looked around, he spotted the three blank cards on the desk.

"Girls, take a look at this." Ichika said as they gathered around. "These cards are blank. I'm certain these are the same ones that had Chifuyu, Conner, and Mila trapped."

"How can you be so sure?" Houki asked.

"They're blank. What else could they be?" Ichika said. "I guess that means he really did keep his word." That would be good to know if he really did. As they stood around the desk, Charlotte noticed a drawer that was slightly opened. Charlotte opened up and saw a book in there.

"What's this?" Charlotte said as she grabbed it. She opened it up and saw a photo of a familiar woman. "Look!" She held up the picture to the portrait and saw it was the same woman.

"It's that woman again." Houki said.

"We still don't know who she is thought." Laura said.

"Her portrait was in the dining room too." Cecilia said. "Who could this woman be?"

"Cynthia." Charlotte said. All of them looked at Charlotte. "It says here her name is Cynthia. I think this is a journal that Peggrin kept."

"Read it. Maybe it could tell us what Peggrin was really after." Ichika said. Charlotte was one step ahead as she already read some of it.

"Listen to this." Charlotte said as she began reading. "Cynthia, my love... Not a day goes by when you aren't on my mind. I still remember the day we met. We were both born in prestigious families. Even though we were arranged to be married, we met when we were children and we actually fell in love. The times I've had with you were the happiest of my life."

"You were right, Charlotte. This woman is Peggrin's wife." Rin said.

"But where is she?" Houki asked. Charlotte held the answer as she kept reading.

"The day finally came for our wedding. It was the best moment of my life." Charlotte read. "Sadly, you soon fell ill and I lost you forever."

"What?!" Cecilia said as they were all shocked to here that. "You mean she... That is so sad."

"Losing you was the worst thing that ever happened to me." Charlotte continued to read. "For months, I've tried to live with the pain, but it was unbearable. I didn't know how I could go on. It all changed one day when I met a mysterious man. He brought me to chamber and told me about eight magical items."

"Eight magical items?!" Ichika said as he knew what those items were.

"He bestowed one to me, a mystical patch." Charlotte read. "He warned me that the power would be hard to control, and if I didn't upon obtaining it, I would have been destroyed. At least I hoped that meant I could be with you. Instead, I was able to control the power. It showed me the powers the likes I've never seen before. It was then I came up with an idea. If I could gain enough power with the use of these items, gain enough power of any kind, I might be able to bring you back. I will do whatever I must to ensure that I will." Hearing this has them all rethinking their opinions on Peggrin. "I hardly understand the logic, but it sounds like Peggrin did everything with the belief it would bring the love of his life back to him."

"I actually feel sorry for him." Cecilia said.

"Maybe, but he was still a business tycoon." Houki said. "He tried to take Conner's company."

"I'm not sure what he was thinking, but Conner's company holds some advance technology. Maybe there was something there he thought could help." Laura said.

"Either way, it looks like everything is settled. Maybe it's time we leave." Rin said. All of them were on their way out, but Ichika stayed behind for a moment.

"Ichika, you coming?" Houki asked.

"I'll be right there." Ichika said. Houki left him alone. Ichika was wondering about the eight mystical items. Do they really have the power to bring someone back? He wonders what else they can do. Three have been uncovered, but there are still five out there. What would happen if all eight were together?" With no way to answer any of those questions, Ichika was on his way to leave. Just before he walked down the stairs, he noticed something strange. A fog was coming from the staircase and someone was walking from it. "What's going on?" The person that walked through was a man. He wore a piece of clothing that crossed his chest and rested at his shoulders in a black square-pattern. He also wore red pants with sandals. He had black bands around his arms with his hair black tied in a tail. He looked up at Ichika and Ichika was a little anxious. He kept looking at Ichika until he noticed his charm.

"One of the items."

"Who are you?" Ichika asked. The strange man didn't answer. He just walked closer. As he got closer, Ichika noticed a ring on his finger that had the same round symbol as his charm. "Another item!" The man held out the ring and pressed it against Ichika's head.

...

The Man

When the man used the power of his ring, he was able to enter Ichika's mind. It was just an open space with the sky above and water below.

"Who are you and what are you doing here?" The man looked ahead and was met with the spirit that lies within the charm.

"How interesting. One body that hosts two minds. It must be the power of the charm."

"I won't ask again. Who are you and what are you doing here?" The spirit asked.

"I am a guardian of the eight mystical items."

"A guardian?" The spirit said. "Even so, I will not allow you to harm the boy that I share a body with. This body and mind was originally his until he was given the charm."

"Nothing has happened to him. Observe." The man snapped his fingers and the real Ichika emerged from the water as he stood next to the spirit.

"What? What's going on? Where am I?" Ichika asked.

"Relax, Ichika. We are simply in your mind." The spirit said. They turned to the guardian and were curious as to what was going on. "What are you even doing here?"

"I sensed a disturbance in power. Someone has stolen the patch that I gave to Peggrin long ago." The man said. "It is in the hands of a dark force now. I used the power of my mystic ring to help me investigate."

"And you think we're the thieves?" The spirit said.

"We didn't take anything." Ichika said. "Peggrin mentioned a man giving him the patch in his journal. That was you?"

"Yes. I gave it to him because it was fate for him to have it." The man said.

"Fate?" Ichika said. All of this was very strange to him. Ichika barely understands his own charm, but it sounds like these items could be dangerous in the wrong hands. "What are these eight items? What powers do they hold?"

"Powers the likes this world hasn't seen." The man said. "There is still much you don't understand or know, but the time will come when you will. I can tell you that the keys to all the answers lie in your past." He said as he pointed right at the spirit.

"My past?! What do you know of my past?!" The spirit asked. He got no answer. All the mystery man did was leave.

...

Ichika

The man pulled away and Ichika snapped back to reality.

"That was weird." Ichika said. He looked and saw the man was disappearing like a ghost as he made his way down the stairs. "Wait! Who are you?!"

"My name is Getsu. I'm sure that we will meet again." That was all he said before he disappeared. More and more mysteries are opening up.

...

Outside

"There you are." Houki said as they all saw Ichika come out of the tower. "Is everything okay."

"Yeah. Just got a little side tracked." Ichika said.

"Hey!" All of them looked and saw Mila showing up. A clear sign that Peggrin did what he was asked to.

"Mila!" Ichika said as they were all happy to see her again. "We're all glad to see you back on your feet."

"Yeah. I don't know what you did, but I do know I have you guys to thank. I overheard how Ichika managed to beat Peggrin." Mila said. "Ichika, thank you so much. Now, I just need to find my brother."

"Mila!" All of them looked across the yard and saw Conner was there as well.

"Conner!" Mila said with joy. She ran right over to him and wrapped her arms around his waist. "I'm so glad to see you again. I was afraid something might have happened to you."

"I'm sorry for all you went through." Conner said. Conner looked up and noticed Ichika and his friends. "I take it you had something to do with Peggrin's downfall."

"You could say that." Ichika said.

"We're glad we were able to help you out." Charlotte said. Conner didn't seem to care. He just kept his eyes on Ichika.

"Ichika, I know you beat Peggrin." Conner said. "I won't forget this. After today, it's business as usual. Our last duel didn't count since I forced your hand. Therefor, the day will come when I will beat you." Conner hasn't gotten over his rivalry with Ichika and is still aiming to beat him.

"That's his way of saying thank you." Mila said. With that, the Knight siblings made their way off the island.

"Hey, where's Ryu?" Cecilia asked.

"Here I am." Ryu said as he showed himself. "Sorry. Mila woke up and took off. I thought I meet up with you guys."

"Well, it looks like it's all over. Too bad you didn't get a great prize, Ichika." Rin said.

"I don't care. I came here to rescue Chifuyu. If Conner and Mila are awake, she must be too." Ichika said.

"Great. I think it's time we headed home." Houki said.

"Sounds good." Ryu said while trying to hide that he had Peggrin's patch. All of them went on ahead, but Ichika stayed back for a moment.

"You did it, Ichika." The spirit said as he stood with Ichika.

"Only because I had your help." Ichika said. "We helped each other out and we pulled through. Still, what's the deal with Getsu, and what happened to Peggrin's mystic patch?"

"I can't say." The spirit said.

"Well, I'm just glad it's over." Ichika said. "You were a big help in all of this. That's why I want you to know that I will do everything I can to help you regain your memories. We'll uncover your secrets." The spirit was glad to hear that, and even happier to call someone like Ichika a friend.

"Ichika, who are you talking too?! Let's head home!" Houki called. Ichika made his way as he was looking forward to see his sister again. This isn't the end. There is much more that will come Ichika's way as he unlocks the secrets of the charm and the spirit. He'll face many adventures, mysteries, and battles; but he'll face it all with his friends there to help him.
