DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN VAMPIRE KNIGHT

Enjoy the story lovelies! :3

"Don't shoot me for saying this, but it seems quite tonight." I commented as I filed that last bit of my paperwork, though I did earn a loud groan from Zero for that. "Why did you have to say that?" He grumbled from his desk. "It's very calm tonight, huh?" Kaien asked as he stepped inside the office. Zero grumbled under his breath and shook his head in disbelief. "You both are going to be the reason we'll be staying late tonight." Zero growled. The phone on my desk started ringing and saw the caller was Yuuki.

I hurriedly reached for the phone and answered it. "Yuuki, what's wrong? Are you and the twins okay?!" I questioned. "We're fine, just gonna leave the soirée a little earlier than planned. Can you or Zero come get us?" She asked. "One of us will be on the way." I assured her before she hanged up. "What's wrong?" Zero asked as he got up from his desk. "Yuuki said they're, but she and the twins are leaving the soirée early, so either I'm gonna have to wring some necks or the twins just got overwhelmed." I theorized as I got up from my desk as well.

"Come on, I'll drive." He told me. "Don't do anything rash you two!" Kaien called out to us as we hurried out of the office.

I jumped out of the car and saw Yuuki outside with the twins whose eyes were both watery. "Alright who's the jerk that upsetted my nieces." I demanded. "Auntie!" Ren cried as she ran towards me and wrapped her little arms around me. I picked her up and she wrapped her arms around my neck tightly. "Shh, it's okay." I cooed. "What's wrong?" Zero demanded. "Zero Ojisan!" Ai cried as she leapt into her uncle's arms and he held her tightly. "They got a little to overwhelmed from the soirée." She assured us. "No one was trying to circle them to come up with marriage proposals I hope." I growled. Ren buried her face into my shoulder as the three of us adults headed towards the car. "No nothing like that, they just got little overwhelmed. Maybe we'll try again when they're older." She assured me as she climbed into the backseat.

"I'm sorry I wasn't a brave knight." Ren mumbled as I helped her get into the backseat of the car. "What are you talking about. You were very brave going inside there." I assured her as I buckled her in and wiped away a few stray tears from her face. I glanced over at Ai to see she was blushing like mad and was trying her best to dry her tears as Zero helped get her all situated in the car.

Maybe my little niece does have a crush on Zero. Whelp, I know where she gets her thing for older men from. Zero and I climbed into the front and we headed back toward the Kuran manor. "I hope you guys weren't busy when I called." Yuuki mumbled. "It wasn't." I assured her. "Unless you and the crazy old man did jinx it and they're silently begging us to come back." Zero grumbled. I looked at him sheepishly and he sighed in defeat. Yuuki giggled in the back and I looked over at her curiously. "What's so funny?" I demanded. She waved me off and I shot her a playful glare. "See how your mommy is so mean to your auntie?" I asked the girls as I faced the road.

The rest of the drive was kind of quiet save for the girls' soft snores, no doubt tired from all that emotional stress, though once we got back to the manor they didn't want to wake up to help make it easy on us to drop them off and go. Yuuki and I carried the twins inside and to bed. "Thank you for the help." Yuuki told me. I waved her off and smiled. "You know I'm always there for you." I assured her. She nodded and was about to say something when my phone notified me I had a text.

I opened it and grimaced. I guess Zero was right, Kaien and I managed to jinx us. "Sorry, Yuuki, the Association is getting slammed. I'll talk to you when I get off work." I promised before hurrying out to the car. "Yes yes I know, me and my big mouth." I grumbled before Zero could make a remark. "I was just going to remind you to buckle up." Zero told me though I could detect a hint of mirth in his voice.

I rolled my eyes at him playfully and buckled up. "To the battle of paperwork and scum!"
