Chapter 36: Alpha Jacob Part 1

Sue and Leah were sitting on a chair beside my bed. I looked at them, and Leah, her face was spooked. Her eyes were beaming silver very brightly, and she said, "Sam's not alpha anymore."

I asked, "How did you know that?"

She frowned, trying to understand herself, "I..I felt the change of alpha through my wolf spirit, but I cannot see why she is so excited for Jacob as Alpha."

Oh..

Then, Sue was slowly trying help me stand on my bed, and she told me to not get off yet. When I looked outside, the sun was already up, and there was an eerily silence in the house. I heard Emily yelp in the living room, when I heard someone huge stomping into the house. The door was ripped open, and it was a naked Jacob, but not really.

He looked bigger, taller, and wider. He was like 7 ft tall, and he put on more muscles, so he looked very ripped. He had numerous tattoos of writing and symbols that I can't comprehend. It was probably in their language, and his hair grew longer. It was if he used to have it before he phased into a wolf in New Moon. His eyes were beaming silver at the rims of his brown eyes. He came in with a furious expression, but it got softened with he saw me.

Jacob said with his signature, sunny smile, "Hey, Ale. It's been a while."

I chuckled, "Took you long of enough. I was getting worried about you."

He sighed, "I know, I know but I'll explain everything in a bit, but first my pack brothers need to be severely reprimanded." He said that last part growling viciously.

He looked down, saw my round pregnant belly, and he gave a big sigh. He said, "Paul bit you while you were pregnant, didn't he?"

I said, "Yeah? How did you know?"

He was quiet for a moment before saying, "I'll explain later, but I need everyone to come out to the yard. Is that okay, Sue?"

Sue gave a conflicted expression as if she isn't sure that it is safe for me to be walking around and be going on an about, so she said, "Only if she isn't walking and is sitting the entire time."

Oh. I wasn't expecting that kind of response from Jacob. How much has he changed? Not cared of him, but very intrigued. He gently wrapped me with the baby-blanket, scoop me up in his arms, and walked out of the door. I saw all the guys except Seth and Leah on their knees naked in the yard, and all of their heads were bowed down in submission. The ones in the front were Paul, Sam, and Jared. They were trembling this entire time.

Jacob still had me in his arms when he called out, "Seth.."

I heard Seth said quickly, "On it.." and he immediately brought out a chair for me to sit on as Seth and Jacob gently laid me on the chair with the baby-making blanket wrapped snuggly around me. Seth also brought out a bottle of water for me as Jacob was standing next to me observing the pack with a distinct rage in his expression. It was like he was a boiling pot about to explode. I was fascinated that even without his full command, Seth understood what Alpha Jacob wanted. This cohesiveness and understanding between the two. Is it from the power of as the rightful alpha? I thought to myself.

I looked around I saw Old Quil, Billy, Kim, and Emily at the porch watching at the distance. Emily had her hands in her mouth with expressing fear as Kim was hugging her tightly, scared of what she is expressing. Billy, on the other hand, was giving a different reaction. He had tears in his eye, and he was looking at Jacob with pride. Old Quil, he was twirling his cane, waiting for Jacob to start and he had an indifferent expression. Did Old Quil expected this to happen? Leah and Seth were halfway between me and the pack and everyone else in the house. Leah was holding Seth's hand to comfort him, and I could tell that Seth was slightly trembling, scared and anxious of what is going to happen. Leah had a unreadable expression, but her eyes were still glowing silver.

Because I was observing others, I didn't notice that Jacob had already partially phased. His transformation was a little different from Paul's that his wolf form went down all the way to his waist, so his whole shoulder, chest, arms and hands were like a wolf. His hands got longer with claws extending through his fingertips, and he was covered in his reddish-brown fur. His growling was what brought me back to focus on the pack and noticing his transformation.

I heard Emily and Kim gasping in the distance, and finally Jacob roared, "Hear me, elders, imprints, wolves of La Push. Today, a war almost broke out and almost cost the lives of our people. What do you three got to say?"

Sam was the first one to speak, and he said with gritted teeth, "I did it to protect everyone now and the future."

Jared grumbled, "It was so that no more of our people phase into wolves."

Paul sneered, "We got the numbers, if you had let us attack, we would've won, and the Cullen clan would've been no more."

Jacob roared in outrage, "Not the answer that I was looking for!"

In a blink of an eye, he slashed all three of them with his claws with Kim and Emily screaming in terror. All three of them fell down groaning in pain, as blood spilling out of their long, deep gashed wounds across all of their chests. Because Jacob's claws had a curve to it, it made their wound beyond a surface-level wounds. I honestly think that they are going to have scars for it.

Jacob roared, "You dare to march your pack brothers to a suicide mission, and even when you knew that lives were going to be lost, you forced those who didn't want to be part of the war to fight, Samuel?! I would've killed you for the abuse of power that you have been demonstrating while I have been gone Samuel, however because you have been standing for Alpha for few years by yourself and to maintain peace in the pack, be thankful that I am letting you live."

Jacob snarled with clenched fists, "You know what else disgusted me about you, Samuel?"

Sam said through gritted teeth, "What?"

Jacob snarled, "You abused the power of the alpha command so that you'll be surrounded by a bunch of Yes Mans. You knew Leah and Seth did not agree to the plan, but you alpha commanded Leah to not speak at all. It is one thing to order your pack brother and get their mouth shut at the moment, but not to speak at all? Do you realized the mental trauma that you had caused Leah? Besides the fact that she is our first female spirit warrior, but your own pack sister?!

Jacob continues to snarl, "Did power went over your head while a threat to your title was gone? Did you like being in control and having power over people, Sam?"

Sam didn't respond as he was too focused from the pain that Jacob caused him, so Jacob partially shifted his hand and dug deep into Sam's wound with his claws as he roared, "Answer me!"

More blood was spilling all over Sam, and volumes of blood was spilled all over Jacob's claws, but that didn't faze Jacob at all. I could hear Emily begging in the distance through her sobs, "Please, Jake! Have mercy!"

Jacob growled mockingly toward Emily without turning his head, " 'Have Mercy'? Did Sam have mercy on Seth and Leah, Em? It was your own goddamn family, Emily! How could you let Sam do all of this?"

Emily stuttered, "I..I never questioned Sam and his decisions…I..I knew what he did to Leah and Seth was bad but..I thought it was just a small price to pay for the forever peace in the tribe."

Jacob finally turned his head toward her, and I saw that Emily flinched with a hiccup from all the crying as she clenched hard with Kim when Emily saw how Jacob was looking at her: disappointment and rage.

Jacob snarled, "You were his imprint, Em. If the peacemaker, elders, and his pack siblings couldn't go through to him, you could've had as his imprint! But, no because you are too meek, too much of a pushover, Em! You were too focused on appearing an 'alpha female' who is united with her Alpha that you allowed Sam to abuse his power over his pack! This is partially your fault because of your meekness, we almost went out to a full-on war!"

Sam growled weakly, clutching his bleeding chest, "Don't..Don't.. blame Emily. I did what I thought was right...Alpha Jacob. This is all on me."

Jacob roared, "It is all on you because this was bullshit and all of you mutts know it! Wasn't the story of the third wife not enough indication of what happens when the wolves don't listen to the wisdom of the peacemaker? Death to the pack and death to our people!"

Everyone got silent except for Emily and Kim silently sobbing as they watched their imprints getting punished by their Alpha.

Jacob continued vibrating and roaring in rage, "You disregarded, disrespected the peacemaker, the elders, and the wishes of the spirits. Even when you were told that you were being influenced by an outsider's magic, Still! Due to your intense hatred toward the Cullens, it would've have costed the lives of not only our people but also the entire world! I showed you in detail of the possible future that the spirits had shown me that I have shared with you through the packmind. The Cullens are not your enemy! Do you understand now the gravity of your decision?!"

No one responded, and it felt like the more Jacob spoke, the more I started seeing the real personalities of everyone bit by bit. It was like the intense emotions of Jacob as he spoke the entire time in alpha tone, I noticed, is what unveiling their eyes to see the truth of their errors. Is it because Jacob's Alpha now? Does he have powers that are helping the pack to come back to their senses?

Jacob snarled, "Answer me!"

Everyone in a collective response murmured, "Yes, Alpha Jacob."

Then, Jared chimed, "..but ..Alpha Jacob, we couldn't resist that bitch's magic. It wasn't our fault."

Jacob snarled even louder, "Lies! You guys were given chances again and again to snap out of it, but you guys decided to ignore those chances to focus on your hatred toward the Cullens! Even when the peacemaker calls you on your bullshit, you ignored her, disrespected her, and from all the stress that you guys put on her, she almost lost her pups! The spirits blessed us with the peacemaker, made for this generation like no other generation before us. She sacrificed her whole life in order to save our sorry asses, and what we repay her with? Distrust, doubt and pathetic jealousies from your imprints. Ale has done more good than anyone of us had since Sam first phased, and this is how you treat her? The alpha and the peacemaker need to be united, but Samuel, the whole month that I was gone and since Ale has been here, you barely put any work to get to know her. Because you didn't put the effort to understand the peacemaker, there was divisions among the pack. Those who were on the peacemaker side and those on the side of Sam and Emily. Then, leading your pack brothers to a suicidal mission. Thus, you failed your duties as Alpha, Sam, and that is why I had to take it by force from you."

Sam didn't even flinch, now slowly realizing the extent of what he had done wrong, he continued to hang his head low in shame.

He roared to everyone, "What do you have to say for yourself?"

All of them said collectively, "Sorry, peacemaker."

I felt Paul's emotions of shame, regret, sadness coursing through our connection as I saw him bowed his head in shame, lazily holding his wound, not caring it was bleeding out. I didn't openly accept their apologies nor rejected it, but all I was nod as tears were building up in my eyes.

Jacob declared, "At this point on Paul Lahote, Samuel Uley, Jared Cameron are stripped of their titles in the pack until further notice, and Samuel Uley is permanently banned from having a title in the pack." The moment he said that it was like something left off of them, and their shoulder sagged like a burden was released. Then, Jacob surprised me. He went back to his human form, knelt in front of me and caressed my cheek.

I looked at him questionably, and he gave me a sad smile before saying, "I know."

I frowned slightly, "What do you mean?"

He said, "I met the indigenous man. He showed me everything that you guys have talked. I..I saw your world and timeline. Where you came from, the life that you had before here, and how you came here. I saw ..the possible future for all of us, so I know, you don't have to carry this burden alone, anymore."

Few tears started to leak from my eyes, and I tried to calm myself down by breathing deeply, but I just couldn't stop the tears pouring out little by little.

He continued, "You did good Ale while I was gone. I am so sorry that I didn't come sooner. I..I left you alone and you struggled on your own to be the voice of reason to the pack and the Cullens…But I saw you through the spirit world, you remained hopeful for my return when others started to get worry and that encouraged me to finish my time in the spirit world faster. I want to thank you also Ale, not only for being there for me when I needed you the most but waiting faithfully for me no matter how doubtful if I could take on the Alpha mantle. You don't have to struggle alone with this burden. I am here with you from now on, Ale to work together as Alpha and peacemaker."

It was like a dam broke inside me, I bend over and started to sob loudly. No matter how loved I was by Paul and the friendship that I built with Leah and Seth, I still had that sense of loneliness that I am the only one from my world and timeline. Some days I would be able to manage it, but some days, it was just hard, and they would notice and try to distract me to get my mind from it. Paul would keep reassuring me of how much he loves me, and yet it was this hole inside of me that no matter what I try to close it with, it would still remain open. That no one would know the type of world that I came from, the heavy burden of knowing the possible future of individual lives and the world and being a Latina peacemaker.

I sniffed, "I'm sorry..I..I" and Jacob cooed, "No Ale, it's okay. Let it all out. I know the packs and your mate's doubt hurt you very deeply" as he reached over to wrap his arms around me, and I just cried loudly on his shoulder. He was patting me slowly on the pack, trying to be very gentle with me.

I was half-crying and half-rambling, "I tried so hard Jacob..and..and when they still didn't believe me, I thought I failed you and the spirits. I ..I didn't know what else to do.. Knowing that they went off to fight with Cullens..I thought..maybe there was something that I could've done differently..maybe this was really my fault that this got this intense?"

He was purring lightly, trying to calm me down, so he said, "no, you did everything you can. This wasn't your fault. It was partially mine for not coming sooner, and Sam's poor leadership as Alpha that caused this to happen. Thankfully, I came just in time to stop the Cullens and the pack from fighting."

I eventually stopped crying and I was emotionally exhausted. He patted me gently in the back as he placed his hand on my swollen abdomen, giving it one last look before standing up to look toward the house. He then commanded loudly, "Emily, Kim go attend to your wolves."

Both Emily and Kim dashed across the field to meet they wolves, they were crying and kissing their wolves. Jacob declared, "Sam, Jared, go heal and everyone must come back to my house tonight at 8pm to discuss further changes in the structure of the pack and the reservation."

Both of them nodded, barred their head in stated and stated, "Yes, Alpha" as their imprints helped them off their feet and slowly walk back to the house with Sue attending to their injuries.

Jacob snarled at Quil and Embry, and said mockingly, "'I'm doing it because of Jacob.' Bullshit Quil and you know it. Never use me as a front of your hidden agenda again. You didn't want to go against Sam, so you let Sam and Paul disrespect the peacemaker and follow orders without hesitation even when you know it was wrong. Despicable! I'm so disappointed in you Quil, leave me now.."

Quil barred his head in submission, and said, "Yes, Alpha" before walking away trembling from everything that has been said and heard. Then, Quil stopped without turning around, and he added, "I'm..sorry Jake" before phasing to the woods and heading home.

Jacob grunted in response, then he told Embry growling menacingly, "I can't believe you followed along Sam's plans. Even when the peacemaker helped you to find who is your family in the tribe, you betrayed her by following Sam's idiotic plan. I am so upset with you. …You were the most level-headed and thoughtful out of three of us. I can't believe you rather please Sam because you want to be goody-goody with him now that you found out that he is your half-brother than standing up for what is right. Get out of my sight. I hope you think well of your actions."

Embry sighed, got up and said, "Yes, Alpha."

He turned to me with sorrowful expression and said, "I'm sorry Ale" before walking away. I looked away and said softly, "you're forgiven,"

He didn't turn around, but I saw him pause before walking away to phase back into his wolf form and ran home.

He stared at Brady and Collin and shook his head, "I have no words for you two. You even went on a spirit walk recently. You two should've known better. Get out of my sight."

They both stood up trembling in fear of Alpha Jacob, and they ran off to the forest as they too were heading home.

Last but not least, Paul was the only one still kneeling in front of Jacob.
