Pokémon Crimson Gold

Chapter 38: Moving on

Lyra made it clear the day after Ethan challenged Jasmine so would she, and that's exactly what she did.

"Okay Steelix! Autotomize!" Jasmine yelled, she and Lyra were in the final round of their gym match.

Steelix glowed with a white aura as it increased its speed drastically.

"Now Dragon Breath!" Jasmine commanded.

Steelix opened its mouth wide and blasted a purple beam at Lyra's Houndoom, who it had been battling.

"Houndoom, dodge and end this with Overheat!" Lyra yelled, her Houndoom leaped, dodging the blow, and unleashed a ray of heat from its mouth that burned like a star at Steelix, completely engulfing Steelix.

"How's that!?" Lyra said, confidently.

Off to the side near the referee Coral was Ethan and Bayleef. Ethan was watching Lyra's battle and cheering for her, since she had done the same for him.

"Lyra's incredible, isn't that right Bayleef?" Ethan asked.

"Bay!" Bayleef agreed.

"Steelix are you alright!?" Jasmine cried.

One the hot smoke cleared, Steelix was revealed to be on the ground, it slowly got up and released a loud roar.

"That's a sturdy Pokémon." Lyra noted.

"Steelix! Dig!" Jasmine commanded.

Steelix smashed its tail into the hard ground, and its tail came out and struck Houndoom, inflicting Super effective damage.

"Houndoom!" Lyra yelled, shouted in concern, it was her last Pokémon.

Houndoom got up from the ground, releasing steam from its nose intensely.

"Houndoom!" Houndoom uttered.

"Now Houndoom, Flamethrower!" Lyra yelled.

Houndoom busted from its mouth a massive load of flames, aiming directly at the Steelix, upon being hit Steelix fell to the ground, it looked like Lyra had won.

"Steelix, are you okay?" Jasmine asked her Pokémon.

Steelix began to slowly get up, but it eventually fell back down, unconscious.

"Alright!" Lyra said jumping up in joy.

"Steelix is unable to battle, Challenger Lyra is the winner!" Coral announced, naming Lyra the victor.

"Houndoom, to me boy!" Lyra said, putting her hands out to hug her Pokémon. Houndoom jumped in her arms and licked her across the face.

"Hey that tickles!" Lyra laughed.

"I knew you could do it!" Ethan said, going over to congratulate his new friend. "Now we both have the Mineral badge."

Jasmine walked over and handed Lyra her rightfully deserved badge. "Um... congratulations, you did great."

"Thank you," Lyra said, placing her badge into her carrying case.

"Three more to go..." Lyra said, smiling.

"Please... both of you, be well on your journeys." Jasmine said. "I can see in both of you... endless potential."

Ethan and Lyra gave looked at each other and smiled before turning back to Jasmine.

"Thank you, Jasmine, I appreciate it." Lyra said nodding.

As both Ethan and Lyra left, they realized their time in Olivine was done, they both had to go, Lyra in order to get the Fog badge, and Ethan had to go get his seventh badge.

"So, thanks for helping me train Ethan. I really appreciate it. I'm glad we're friends again." Lyra said, they were standing outside the Pokémon Center in the sun.

"It's nothing Lyra, you helped me and my Pokémon get a lot stronger as well, I'm not sure if I could have beaten Jasmine without you." Ethan told her.

Lyra smiled. "See you around, Ethan." She said as she left.

As Lyra walked off, Ethan dropped his smile and sighed, Bayleef took notice and nudged him on the arm.

"Bay Bay!" She said impatiently.

"I can't Bayleef she's already leaving!" Ethan muttered.

Bayleef shook her head and continued nudging Ethan, Ethan tried to ignore it, but he finally caved to his starter.

"Fine I'll do it!" Ethan finally came out and spoke.

"Lyra!" Ethan yelled, trying to catch up with her with Bayleef right behind him, as Lyra was already out of the city.

"Everything alright Ethan?" Lyra asked, turning around.

Ethan stopped before her and panted on his knees, he took a breather before looking up at her and speaking.

"Lyra, so... how would you like it if I accompanied you to Ecruteak?" Ethan asked, not looking her in the eye.

"Wow, you'd do that Ethan?" Lyra asked.

"Well yeah," Ethan said, rubbing under his nose. "I have unfinished business in Ecruteak city after all, and since we're going to the same place, I might as well keep you company."

Lyra face lit up. She pulled her head in close to Ethan and smiled.

"Awe, I see what's going on here." Lyra said.

"W-what?" Ethan asked, pulling his head slightly back.

Lyra blinked twice and blushed. "You like me, don't you Ethan." She finally said.

Bayleef's face lit up and she turned to Ethan, whose face was red with embarrassment.

"W-what! I never said that!" Ethan said flustered.

"You've always had a crush on me, and now I know!" Lyra giggled as she ran away from Ethan playfully.

"Hey, don't put words in my mouth!" Ethan said, running after Lyra.

Bayleef followed shortly behind Ethan, laughing as well.

"Catch me if you can!" Lyra exclaimed happily.

"Come back here!" Ethan yelled, chasing after her.

Lyra as she ran entered a pond, before she could fall in, she jumped on some logs and made it to the other side. Ethan quickly caught up to her on the other side.

"Catch me if you can if you want to go to Ecruteak with me!" She laughed.

"Oh really!" Ethan said as he jumped on a log, it was then when he lost his footing and fell deep into the water, causing a big splash.

"Hahaha, you're so silly!" Lyra laughed.

Ethan stuck his head from the water. "You're not cute..." he muttered.

"I know you think I'm cute." Lyra said smirking. "Now come on Slowpoke. Ecruteak's not just going to sit and wait for us!"

Lyra went ahead and skipped out of their happily, Bayleef helped Ethan up and he followed her.

Well, nothing much happened this chapter other than exposition and shipping... don't worry if that's not your thing I plan to return this story back to how it was earlier but with Lyra accompanying Ethan for a short period. I wonder what Pokémon Ethan and Lyra will see on the way back to Ecruteak?
