Ianto found the phones.

Hawk had taken every cell phone he could find in the house and rounded them up, took them outside and was merrily feeding each one to a rock where Imp smashed it with open malice, the hammer bouncing. The last one, Ianto's pink fluffy on Babs gave him to be sarcastic, was being killed when Ianto rounded the side of the house and found them, his mouth falling open as he looked at the mess.

"Boys?"

"Holidays" Imp said "we are not having it. This is our time, we are going to make sure this is our time!"

"By destroying hundreds of dollars worth of tech?"

"They are insured. I checked" came the calm reply as the Imperoony straightened up and eyeballed his father "Dad already took three calls out there… we could have been boarded by pirates and he would have popped up a finger and told them to hang on a sec. He is slipping back to work mode! Besides.. I saved the sim cards."

"Ah."

"Holidays. We talked about it, made plans and we intend to have them honoured!" Imp said, throwing the hammer onto the mess of phone parts. "Dad is too … too… distracted sometimes. It's not safe and it's not fun. You just paint and read… there is nothing to do but his stupid boat or his stupid ride on mower. Even here… mow… mow… mow."

"Right."

The boys swanned off and Ianto said after them, "gotta hope Captain Kitty Hawk doesn't call then."

"Don't be silly… he would use the secret phone" Hawk called over his shoulder and Ianto grinned as he knew there was still one phone on this desert island full of Lord of the Flies wanna bes.

Hawk still had his.

Little shit, always did have a backup plan. Ianto shook his head as he headed off to that garden he had been fiddling with, safe in the knowledge they were not entirely adrift on a desert Island… the road out and SUVs in the driveway aside… he could put or effort in. If it meant that much to them. He could forgive the cellphones, after all they were the old ones the men used out here in case they got wet. Their good ones were still in their bedroom in the bedside drawer. He had checked the pile before relaxing.

At lunch he said "So. I was thinking. If we are stranded on this bloody desert island… who is catching dinner?"

"Hmmm?"

"Well… fish. Who is going to catch some fish. And then we will need a fire to cook them over… sticks too I guess to hold the fish over the flames. I don't know if we even have matches. Gods, we might starve out here all alone and lost." Ianto sniffled "Who can save us?"

Jack stared at him like he was insane but Imp caught on, looking over at Hawk "Of only the Captain were here. HE could catch fish with his bare hands I bet."

Hawk puffed his chest out as he nodded, remembering his grab bag under the car seat.

Yes. Ianto settled back, assured a little boy on cat ears tired to cat a fish, the three fish in the fridge ready to be cooked for their evening meal would now be added to with some lone thing they could then pretend was ALL the work of their savior. Imp can then go foraging with his Tad for some mushrooms or something… lots of natural salad out there too… they can make this work.

Jack shook his head, giving up on even trying to follow this one. But he was up for some fishing.

Sorted.
