Owlthewriter - Thank you again! I actually rewatched over and over again a small segment of some random fight scene on you tube just so I could get it right.
It's time for Tris and Four to have a DNM and Final ranks are posted, who will stay and who will go.
Tris made her way slowly down to the mess hall after having visited the infirmary for a check over, her body felt wrecked. Before she could make it through the doors someone called out her name.
"Tris!"
Turning Tris sees Four running towards her, "Four?"
"You should rest a bit, come with me." He smiled warmly at her as he grabbed her hand and pulled her the other way.
Soon they arrived at Four's apartment. After letting them in he closed the door and kicked off his shoes. "Want a drink?" He asked shyly.
"Sure."
Four handed Tris a glass of water before they both sat down on the edge of Four's bed. Silence enveloped them as they slowly drank their water. After taking another sip of water, Four put his glass down and stared at his hands before turning to Tris and bringing one up her the side of her face, cupping it. "Can I," He swallowed hard. "Can I kiss you?" He stuttered out.
A small yelp left Tris' mouth as Four's other hand gently touched the other side of her face turning her to face him. Red tinting her cheeks as his words finally sank in. Words eluded her, her brain turning to mush making her incapable of forming a single coherent sentence. All she could muster was to nod.
Four lent in, his lips touching hers. It began as something soft, a slight move of the lips here, a soft caress of a tongue there, till eventually it became more. Something hot and hungry growing inside the pair. Tris brought her hands up to wrap around Four's neck while Four's unoccupied hand wrapped around her waist bringing them closer together.
Arching into the touch Tris deepened the kiss while Four pushed her gently back onto the bed. Without breaking their kiss Four straddled her, one of his hands traveling under her jacket to slightly push it back to flare across the bed. When his warm hand touched her bare skin under her shirt she instantly broke the kiss shaking her head, eyes wide.
"Not yet." She whispers, hands flying up to cover her eyes.
"What's wrong?" He asked, voice laced with concern.
Tris shook her head again breathing in deeply.
"Don't tell me it's nothing." Four's voice was suddenly cold as he grabbed at her arms "Hey. Look at me."
Letting Four remove her arms from her face and place them on either side of her head, she lifted her eyes to look at his. The hurt in his eyes and the anger in his clenched jaw surprise her.
"Sometimes I wonder," She said as calmly as she could, "What's in it for you. This . . . whatever it is."
"What's in it for me," He repeated. He leant back, still straddling her, shaking his head. "You're an idiot, Tris."
"I'm not an idiot," Tris growled back. "It's a little weird that of all the girls you could have, you chose me. So if you're just looking for . . . um, you know . . . that . . ."
"What? Sex?" Four scowled down at her. "You know, if that was all I wanted, you probably wouldn't be the first person I would go for."
Tris felt like he had just punched her in the chest. Of course she's not the first person he would go to. She never considered herself pretty or desirable or even wanted, so why would he?
With her hands still by her head she looked away, fighting off tears that threatened to fall. She was not the crying type, especially in front of others. Nor was she the yelling type. Instead she blinked a few times, clearing her eyes then slowly lowered her hands. In one swift movement Tris flipped Four off her, throwing him to the floor beside the bed before she quickly got up herself.
"You were an obstacle in my fear landscape." Her lower lip wobbled. "Did you know that?"
"What? I didn't see that in your run through today." He rubbed his back as he stood up. A look of hurt crossing his face. "Are you afraid of me?"
"Not you," Tris said as she bit her lip to keep it still. "Being with you . . . with anyone. I've never been involved with someone before, and . . . you're older, and I don't know what your expectations are, and . . ."
"Tris," Four said sternly, "I don't know what delusion you're operating under, but this is all new to me, too."
"Delusion?" She repeated. "You mean you haven't . . ." She raised her eyebrows. "Oh. Oh . I just assumed . . .Um. You know."
"Well, you assumed wrong." He looked away. His cheeks were bright, like he was embarrassed. "You can tell me anything, you know," He utters very low. He walked towards her placing a hand on her shoulder. "I'm kinder than I am in training. I promise. Plus, you never answered my question about why I didn't see it during your final run through."
"Oh… Umm…. I had some help with that so it no longer fell under the simulators parameters." Tris fidgeted.
Four's face instantly turned dark. "Who?" He growled.
"No one you know." Tris whispered.
"Who!?" He growled a little louder, his hands now on her upper arms. "I want a name."
"Alice! All right!" She spat as she met his eyes. "Her name is Alice. Are you done being jealous now?"
Four seemed to relax at finding out it was a girl and not another guy. Pink suddenly dusted his cheeks at the thought of what the two girls might have gotten up to. "Did you and her….. You know….."
Tris laughed suddenly at where his line of thought was going. "Oh my gosh no!" She giggled, "She helped me," Tris paused looking for the right word till Alice was kind enough to supply it to her. "Through meditation."
"Oh…" Four huffed while releasing Tris, one of his hands scratching the back of his head, embarrassment written all over his face. "So…"
"Want to go with me to get my first real drink?" Tris suddenly said, a grin on her face.
Four wrapped his arms around Tris' waist smirking down at her, "You're still technically an initiate till the final posting, so no one downstairs will give you a drink yet… Buuuut, If you want to try some that bad I have some alcohol stashed here?" He tilted his head towards his tiny kitchen.
"I wouldn't mind a sip." She smiled as she looked towards Four's kitchen. "You know, to see what I like."
Tris tried a couple of different alcohols that Four had in his fridge and cupboard, from a couple of liquors to several different beers. Her conclusion was that she liked beer best.
With her head feeling light and fluffy, Four guided her back down to the mess hall in time for the 'Rite of Passage' ceremony. He helped her into a seat at her friends table while they looked on with smirks as he made his way up to the rail bridge with Max, Eric and Lauran.
"Sooo….. What were you and lover boy up to hummm…?" Chris smirked as she poked Tris, while the rest of the table burst into laughter.
Tris giggled, a pink hue dusting her cheeks. "Four let me try lots of different alcohol."
"Oooooh, Scandalous!" Uriah gasped.
"We are such bad influences on you Tris, or should we call you Six now?" Marlene quirked an eyebrow.
"Six?" Tris questioned, a small grin playing on her mouth.
"Yeah, well since you had the lowest fears this year AND you are sooooo going to get with Four it's only natural that we should call you Six." Uriah reasoned while tapping his chin and looking off into the distance, trying to make himself look smart.
Uriah received a bread roll to the head and laughed as Tris glared at him. "What?" He laughed.
Before anything further could be discussed Eric's voice boomed over the crowd. "Dauntless!" That one word silenced the whole room.
Max stepped forward and began to speak "Ladies, Gentlemen, Members and Initiates. Today marks the end of yet another year of initiation. 22 of you started your journey by choosing us to become your new faction, your new family. 16 of you now stand before us yet we only want 10. You chose us now we will choose you."
Max paused and looked around the hall at all the faces, his eyes lingering on Tris before he continued.
"Your names will be displayed on the board behind me in a few moments along with a timer. If you fall below the red line you will have until the end of the 30 minute countdown to say your final goodbyes and be out of the compound. If you are still here by the end of that timer we will forcibly remove you. If you still do not comply, lethal force will be applied. That is all."
The screen behind Max lit up and the names were listed.

2. Uriah

4. Lynn
5. Peter

Tris skimmed past all the names of the Dauntless born initiates she didn't personally know only taking stock of the people she did. Everyone at her table rose in cheers, all of them patting her on the back and congratulating her on her first place.
In the corner of the room she could see Peter sulking and his goons looking pale. Smirking and feeling a bit vindictive she turned to her table, "Look at Peter and his goons."
Everyone turned to Peter's table raising their cups at them, receiving an angry glare in return.
"Couldn't have happened to a better bunch." Will stated as he sat down.
"So when can we get our drinking on?" Christina asked eagerly.
"Looks like Tris already started without us." Came a humored voice from behind the table. Everyone turned to see Zeke and Shauna standed behind them laughing. "You guys are all welcome back at mine to have your first welcome drink if you like? We can play Dauntless or Candor too."
"Hell's yeah I'm in!" Uriah stood suddenly raring to go.
"Not until you eat first!" Shauna growled. "I am not dealing with drunk idiots that can't hold their alcohol!"
"Fine." Uriah sat back down pouting.
At the conclusion of the countdown Max stood up again on top of the railed bridge, his voice booming throughout the compound through the PA system. "Time's up! Failed initiates that are still on the compound grounds are about to be hunted down and forcibly evicted. If I were you, I'd run." He grinned as he raised his arm.
Dauntless members throughout the room stood, guns in hand, smirks on faces as they made their way to the doors that surrounded the room, disappearing through them.
With the PA off Max addressed the crowd. "The rest of you, enjoy. To our new members, welcome to Dauntless." He looked out around the room again, his eyes again falling on Tris as he continued to speak. "New members will be given jobs and apartments in two days. Until then drink up, party and enjoy yourselves, your new life begins now."
Eric stepped forward. "Until you have received your apartments you are welcome to continue sleeping in the initiates dorm, or if you have made friends with members you may stay with them. Dauntless born may return home for now. Dismissed!"
Comments and Favorites welcome.
