As a shiver of terror swept through the gathered heroes the dragon dipped their head. Katsuki gripped Eijiro's arm, trying to pull him away, snarling and sparking his hands as the great monster breathed hot violent air over him. Looking down those red glowing nostrils Katsuki was overcome with a sense of utter helplessness. Against such a calamity his quirk was nothing, his power meaningless.

He felt insignificant.

He felt scared.

Eijiro's warm palm landed on Katsuki's shoulder, "It's okay."

Eijiro reached up, pressing his palm to the underside of a single fine scale on the dragon's nose. He gave it a fond pat, sighing slightly under his breath. The dragon drew back, allowing them to look into her scarlet eyes, pupils large enough to eclipse them both.

"It is time," they said, sniffing the air. With a single muted thuwmp they flapped their wings, stirring the dust and rising into the air. Katsuki stared at the impossible sight. There was no way wings like that, not matter how large, should be able to lift such a beast.

But there it was, hovering with only the slightest flutter of the membrane. The sight only emphasized the utter wrongness of the monster. The impossibility.

"Where will you go?" Eijiro asked, the only one not suffering a mental breakdown at the moment.

"Somewhere I can stretch my scales properly. Somewhere I can be."

Katsuki felt Eijiro's hand squeeze his shoulder tightly but he pasted a smile onto his face, forcing laughter into his voice. "Heh, the governments gonna go mental."

"Useless flies," the dragon flicked their tail in agitation. The tip of it uprooted a row of trees, splintering them into toothpicks with one careless gesture. They raised their head, staring into the sky. To what lay beyond it. "Goodbye Eijiro."

With that final short farewell the dragon rose into the air. A lazy flap of their wings had them ascending into the horizon. A distortion occurred, a static on reality. The next second, the dragon was gone. Leaving not a single scale, nor whisper of their presence behind.

Nothing, but a single mortal son.

Silence descended, several people found all strength leaving their bodies. The surge of relief causing their knees to buckle. Katsuki felt the pounding of his heart, tasted the iron on his tongue from where he had bitten his lip in an effort not to scream. His entire being shivered from residual fear.

Eijiro noticed the tremors, glancing over him in concern. "You okay Katsuki?"

Katsuki worked his mouth open, closed it, tried again. On the third attempt he finally got his voice to work. "What. The. Hell. Was. That!?"

"Huh? My Mum. I told you. Did you forget or something?"

Katsuki looked into those guileless sunset eyes and reminded himself that he liked the idiot, reaching for patience he didn't have. "I mean, the fuck is up with her being A. Fucking. Dragon!"

Eijiro laughed, scratching the back of his head,"…Surprise?"

"Fucking!" Katsuki slammed his palms onto either side of his boyfriend's idiotic face. His sweat igniting in a deafening explosion. Once the smoke had cleared and revealed Eijiro's pouting hardened face he started shaking him back a fourth. Eijiro objected his treatment, trying to pry his palms away but Katsuki was cursing to much to listen.

Neither noticed Aizawa approaching at a dead march until he spoke. "Kirishima. Explain." His eyes were still faintly glowing red, capture weapon floating threateningly.

Eijiro paled, gulping. "Ahahah, yeah about that. Umm, so my Mum's a dragon. Like, a real dragon. Not a quirk."

Aizawa's eyes flared, Katsuki didn't think he had seen the man looking this stressed even when they were under villain attack.

At that moment the braver and more reckless of class 1-A rushed forth, piling up around the redhead.

"Holy shit Kiri!"

"The fuck bro! Seriously, the fuck!?"

"Was that a dragon!? Are you a dragon!?"

"No wonder you've never been afraid of Kacchan."

"Scary, scary, ribbit."

"Where did they go? Are they coming back? Please don't say their coming back!"

"Enough!" shouted Aizawa, instantly instilling silence. "Kirishima, explain this. Simply, so we can all understand."

Eijiro stood sweating, Katsuki crossed his arms and glared at him from beside their teacher.

"So, my Mum is a dragon. A real dragon. No, not it's not a transformation quirk. She's also not a quirk animal. She's really a dragon. She's from a different world, or possibly dimension? I never quite understood it. Umm, what else do you want to know?"

"Where has she gone?"

"Back. Or somewhere else maybe? She's not on earth anymore. I don't know how it works."

"Will she be coming back."

"No. I-she's got no reason to."

With that Aizawa and several of the students relaxed slightly, Katsuki uncrossed his arms. "If it's not a quirk why did your file list human animal transformation as her quirk."

Eijiro blinked in confusion, he raised his left palm. "Human." He raised his right palm "Animal." He placed his two hands together, side by side. "Human-animal transformation. Humans are animals. Err, it's kind of in the name." He smiled innocently.

Aizawa gritted his teeth, Katsuki could practically feel him reeling himself back from explosion. "Right" he gritted out, "then, if it wasn't a quirk, why did you go through a quirk evolution?"

Katsuki shook himself. Startled by the question. Several pairs of eyes fell on the redhead, wondering the same thing.

"Oh, well, it really was a growth spurt. Dragons have three main growth periods. We thought I hadn't inherited anything much of the, err, dragon-ness from her cause I didn't go through the first one when I was a kid. But, well, as you can see," Eijiro waved to himself, indicating his horns and extreme growth while giving a fanged smile, "that wasn't the case."

"Three" muttered Deku, having whipped out his notebook from god knows where. "Then is this the first or the second growth period?"

"The second, with think. Kind of hard to tell, since I'm not, you know, a dragon. Mum says technically it shouldn't have even been possibly for her to get pregnant with me. What with being an entirely different species and all, even if she can shape-shift."

"Wait" said Katsuki, "what did you call it? Full Body Awareness? You said that had something to do with being a shape-shifter. Are you gonna turn into a dragon?"

"Umm, I don't think so" said Eijiro slowly, "but, who knows? Maybe? Mum said it's the third growth phase when dragons really rapidly increase in size. So, it might happen then, or maybe I'll just get bigger." He gazed at his hands thoughtfully, picking at his new claws. "Hopefully if that happens I can learn to shape-shift. Being much bigger than this just seems inconvenient."

Suddenly Aizawa stepped forward, slamming both of his hands down on Eijiro's shoulders and causing him to startle. His stare was piercing. "When?! When is this next growth phase meant to happen?!"

"I don't know!" Squeaked Eijiro in surprise. "But we think in my thirties, maybe?"

Aizawa sighed in relief, his whole body deflating. He patted Eijiro more gently on the shoulders, capture weapon finally falling still. Stepping away, he took out his eyes drops, applying them carefully.

"Good. So long as it doesn't happen while you're at this school it's not my problem." Before he left he patted Katsuki meaningfully on the shoulder. "Good luck. You were made for each other."

Katsuki stilled, an image unfolding in his minds eye. A red blazing dragon, crimson scales and ruby eyes, breath like a blast furnace. Strong and overwhelming, laying domain to all it could see. And Katsuki, proud and powerful, standing on its head, a crown of horns as his throne, explosions and fire erupting from his palms. His feral smile matching with the dragons terrifying roar.

This dragon he wouldn't fear. His spine would tingle with adrenaline, not terror. His heart would pound with exhilaration, not horror. Because this dragon was Kirishima, Eijiro, and he would never hurt Katsuki.

He smirked, body alight with excitement, "too fucking right we're perfect.

"He's my fucking dragon."
