38. The Final Battle For Tokyo
At Port Yokosuka, after leaving the military matters to the Glaston Knights, Guilford comes to a warehouse, where he is supposed to meet Jeremiah as he was instructed to from their phone call. He stands in front of the open entrance to the warehouse where the inside is completely dark and nothing can be seen inside.
"I came alone as I promised. Now, what's the meaning of this, Jeremiah?" Guilford questioned. "If you have information on Princess Cornelia's whereabouts then why do you need to tell it only to me in secret?"
As he asked that question, the shadowy figure of a male stood facing him in the darkness.
"Lord Guilford," Called out the voice of not Jeremiah as he expected but instead the voice of Lelouch.
He was still in the shadows so Guilford couldn't see his face but he took out a gun and pointed it in his direction.
"Identify yourself!" Guilford demanded. "You're not Orange!"
"Wait," Lelouch then activated his Geass as his eye glowed in the shadows. "I just have a request to ask of you."
Upon those words, Lelouch's Geass activated and took control of Guilford who stood down and was now awaiting his orders.
"Yes, alright then, what is it you want me to do for you?" Guilford asked under his control.
"Oh, it's quite simple really," Lelouch said walking out of the shadows. "I want you to not take part in the upcoming battle for Japan in any way. Instead, you are to disappear somewhere that no one can find you."
"Yes, understood." Guilford obeyed as he turned and started to leave.
Once he was gone, Lelouch put away his Geass and smirked in satisfaction before leaving as well. "Now at least one nonsense is out of the way."
Area 11 — Kagoshima Settlement Coast
At that time, the battle for the Tokyo Settlement begins at the shore of Area 11. The Black Knights begin their advance with Xingke leading them. In no time, a horde of Black Knight Knightmares flew in from the sky and the Longdon sailed from the ocean with Chinese Gung-Rus while a legion of Britannian Knightmares was lined up at the coast and both sides open-fired at each other, resulting in a large firefight.
"The Black Knights are approaching the Kagoshima coast." A soldier announced. "But rest assured. There's no need to worry. Under the command of Lord Waldstein, the Knight of One, we Britannian shall…"
"This is already Britannian territory. Don't let a single soldier land here." Another soldier relaid the others while they were firing.
As the fighting was underway, Xingke onboard his personal Knightmare the Shen Hu moved in the fight with a squadron of Akatsuki Knightmare Frames behind him.
The Shen Hu has blue armour with red and gold parts, and its head unit has an intricate design with a red spike protruding from the top. It is a Knightmare Frame model developed by Rakshata's team at the same time as the Guren, However, piloting it was too physically demanding, and thus a suitable pilot could not be found. Xingke proves capable of piloting it, but the task proves very stressful even at 40% power.
Its main weapons are two dagger-shaped Slash Harkens mounted on its wrist. By wrapping or impaling an enemy with the Slash Harkens, the Shen Hu can send a powerful electrical charge along the cable, instantly destroying the Knightmare on the receiving end. Radiant Wave Shielding tends to halt electrical discharge along its cables. The Shen Hu's wrist armour can also spin in place to turn the Slash Harkens into powerful flails which can double as shields. Finally, the Shen Hu has a short sword stored near its shoulder. The short sword is retractable and can produce a blade on either side of its hilt when fully activated. The sword is strong enough to have the capability to cut through the Vincent Ward unit. In addition, it has white armour plates on its shoulder and waist which can be used as shields.
Mounted in its torso is the powerful Baryon Cannon (Heavenly Particle Shock Cannon), a weapon similar to the Hadron Cannon; at 40% power, can to match the full force of the Guren Flight-Enabled Version's improved Radiant Wave Surger.
"The enemy has fallen for our plan. They'll be shorthanded in the south so dispatch our landing forces to shore." Xingke ordered them.
G-1 Mobile Base
On the coast of Kagoshima, Bismark was aboard the G-1 and leading the troops as they looked at the situation of the battle on the monitor while soldiers kept bringing in reports.
"Enemy headed for Yamaguchi." A soldier reported.
"Garcia team wiped out!" Another soldier reported.
"Damn the Black Knights! How did they amass this strength?" A staff officer questioned worriedly.
"We thought we could hold our territorial defence line, but after what Xingke did to us in the battle of the East China sea…" Another staff officer said.
"All right. Don't panic. As long as we are able to defend Area 11, all the imperial armies led by Prince Odysseus and the other royal family members can rush into the U.F.N. territories." Bismark informed them while staying composed. "The remaining Knights of the Round are deployed on the front line as well."
Longdon
While the battle was going on, Kaguya was aboard the Longdon along with Tianzi and Xianglin. Kaguya was thinking along the same lines as Bismark. "Or to put it another way, if Japan is liberated, the other colony areas of Britannia will spring into action one after another which will redefine the map of the world."
G-1 Mobile Base
"In summation…" Bismark started.
Longdon
"It's the decisive battle!" Kaguya finished.
Area 11 — Kagoshima Settlement Coast
Meanwhile, Luciano handily kills several of the Black Knights while laughing manically with his Knightmare, the Percival. Based on Lancelot Conquista "Core Luminous Cone," the Sutherland's Lance and the Gawain's Hadron Cannon, this Knightmare Frame was built with similar weaponry based on those armaments. Its armour is oddly bulky, with large cones extending from the wrists, pointed leg armour at the hips and feet, and spikes from its shoulders and Landspinners. It also has an Integrated Float System for flight capability. The Percival's main weapon is a large claw on its right wrist. The claws can reconfigure themselves and be spun around, generating a Blaze Luminous field and transforming it into an MVS particle drill-lance. It can also use the slash harkens on its head and shoulders for close-range combat. For long-range attack, the Percival's pointed hip armour can open up to reveal Hadron Blasters within, as well as the missile launchers in its shield.
Luciano uses his MVS particle drill-lance to pierce through and destroy a U.F.N airship with ease. "This will hardly do for me. Why such meagre offerings?"
Luciano then noticed six Black Knight Knightmares charging at him at the same time in six different directions.
"The Vampire of Britannia!" A Black Knight said.
"We'll hit him at the same time!" Another one said.
"Right!" A third one said.
"Six-way charge attack!" A fourth one said.
Luciano became excited as he opened up his Knightmare's hip-mount Hadron Blasters and fired Hadron bullets at five of the six attacking Knightmares, destroying them immediately, leaving only one survivor.
"Wh-What the…?" The surviving Black Knight gasped in horror.
Luciano wasn't done as he charged in and had his Knightmare tear open the front of his Akatsuki to reveal the pilot.
"Question—What do people value most?" Luciano questioned mockingly.
"Stop it, please!" The Black Knight pleaded in terror.
"That's right. Your own life!" Luciano taunted before activated the MVS particle drill-lance.
"Please! No!" The Black Knight cried out.
Luciano laughed madly as he finally used Percival's MVS particle drill-lance to pierce the cockpit of the Akatsuki and ruthlessly killed the pilot inside before the whole Knightmare exploded.
Xianglin contacted Xingke inside the Shen Hu to give him a status update on the battle.
"Our left wing is crumbling, master Xingke. It's one Knightmare with unique breakthrough power." Xianglin reported.
"Dispatch Indira's team for support. Have left-wing teams fall back at one. Decoy and isolate enemy unit." Xingke instructed her.
"Roger." Xianglin complied.
Longdon
Back on the Longdon, Kaguya also gave a report.
"As far as I'm aware, Prince Schneizel ought to be staying in Tokyo," Kaguya said.
Area 11 Government Bureau
Meanwhile, Schneizel is seated beside Nunnally as they face her board of officers and directors as well as Gino and Anya. "There's nothing to fear. The Knight of One, the strongest in the empire, is in Kyushu. If we can just ride this out and remain anchored in Tokyo, this will only look like minor trouble to foreign countries.
[Yes, Your Highness.] They all say in unison.
Nunnally still looks concerned as Schneizel places his hand over her's to comfort her.
"It'll be all right, Nunnally," Schneizel assured her. "I expect this war will be over soon. I have a knack for reading these situations."
Tokyo Settlement
As the sun was setting, Lelouch, who was aboard the Shinkiro, flew toward the Tokyo Settlement while Rolo in his Vincent was flying beside him. Lelouch already changed into his Zero attire but just wasn't wearing his mask. As they approached a defensive line of Sutherlands stood at the edge of the Settlement, ready to fight off Zero.
"So, the fool has come." A soldier in a Sutherland said.
"Prepare to attack! You're free to shoot down the Vincent as well." Another soldier said.
"Don't assume that I was portraying the role of a student in the settlement without reason." Lelouch declared while holding a switch in his hands. "Tokyo settlement, I'll bring you to a halt right now!"
As Lelouch activated his switch, every train on the railways of the Tokyo Settlement opened up their roofs and from them appeared a Gefjun Disturber. So much so that there were dozens of Gefjun Disturbers all over the settlement.
"Fire!" A soldier commanded the others.
However, before any of them could notice, the effects of the Gefjun Disturbers reached them and all of their Knightmares lost power before they froze and shut down.
"What?" A soldier gasped.
"My, my energy filler…" Another soldier said.
"A Gefjun Disturber?" A third said noticed.
News Broadcasting Station
As this was happening, Milly was in the middle of broadcasting news of the current battle between the U.F.N and the Britannian forces.
"And so that situation will lead us to the…" Milly stopped when the power in the building suddenly went out and so did the lights. "Sorry, viewers, but it seems the power's gone out here in the studio. Are we still broadcasting?"
Tokyo Settlement
It wasn't just that building, all the lights and power in every building all over the Tokyo Settlement went out, surrounding the whole settlement in darkness. It was like a widespread blackout. Because of the Gerjun Disturber, every bit of power and all Knightmares were all powered down and brought to a halt.
"That's only the beginning." Lelouch proclaimed. "Rolo, now."
"Right, I'm on it," Rolo responded.
Rolo then activated a switch as well and this one had a completely different effect. At once, all of the layered floor sections of each sector of the city's perimeter around the settlement started to become undone from the hinges. Because of this, the structure of the settlement started to fall apart like an avalanche. Knightmares fell and were buried under debris and fissures, tanks were crushed, fighter-aircrafts that were about to take off crashed, even whole buildings that were no longer held by solid ground and began to fall. The entire outer perimeter of the Tokyo Settlement became like a disaster zone that was hit by an earthquake.
"A layered structure built to be earthquake resistant," Lelouch said, admiring the results of his plan. "But if you demolish all of the floor sections simultaneously you won't find anything to be more fragile. By lining up at the city's perimeter to engage the Black Knights, you sealed your fate." Lelouch then turned all his communicator. "All tasks at hand have been cleared. Soul!"
"Loud and clear!" Soul responded on the other line. "Todoh, begin 7th Operation!"
Ikaruga
Aboard the Ikaruga, Todoh and the other main members on the bridge heard Soul's order and proceeded with the operation.
"Acknowledged!" Todoh proclaimed. "Now commencing Seventh Operation!"
"Raise the Ikaruga!" Minami announced.
"Ikaruga surfacing!" Hinata proclaimed.
"All fleet units, surface at will." Minase relaid to the others.
Just then the Ikaruga rises from the surface of the ocean along with fleets of ships and Knightmares piloted by the Black Knights, leading them was Soul in the Agravaine and beside him was Lyra in his Rekka Byakuen
"The main fleet will stay on course through Tokyo Bay, breakthrough into the Tokyo settlement and rendezvous with Zero!" Soul commanded everyone.
"All hands, battle stations!" Minase announced into the ship's loudspeaker, letting everyone aboard the Ikaruga hear it. Including, Euphie, Shirley, C.C, Cornelia, Darlton and Villetta.
"All right, let's do this!" Tamaki cheered while activating his Knightmare.
"This battle…" Asahina started.
"…Will be ours!" China finished.
"We'll take back Japan!" Urabe added.
"Now I shall prove my royalty for Prince Lelouch and Princess Nunnally!" Jeremiah declared as he activated the bio-link between himself and his machine.
Area 11 Government Bureau
As the Black Knights all prepare for battle, Kallen is shown along with Sayoko leading a group of disguised soldiers into the government bureau while the power and security system was down to retrieve Nunnally and the Guren as Zero contacts them.
"Kallen, how are things on your end?" Zero asked through his communicator.
"Fine," Kallen responded. "We're beginning the operation right now. When we get inside me and Sayoko will split up, I'll get back the Guren and join the battle while Sayoko will make her way to Nunnally first thing."
"Good. I'm counting on you both."
Avalon
As the battle was about to begin, the Avalon flew towards the Tokyo Settlement as well, a whole fleet of Knightmares followed the ship as Schneizel sat on his throne on the bridge and thought to himself.
"I thought something strange had been going on ever since my brother Clovis was killed. Now, I understand, I understand everything. But now, I'm the one controlling the game." He thought with a look of confidence.
Tokyo Settlement
"New orders," Zero began to relay orders to all Black Knights in Tokyo. "Black Knights Ikaruga fleet. Gefjun Disturbers have immobilized all utilities, communications and pre-fifth generation Knightmares throughout the Tokyo settlement. The enemy's military might has been cut in half. Hit all major facilities and eliminate their ability to strike back. We must achieve these goals before the main forces under Schneizel's command arrive here. By establishing our defence line, we'll isolate the government bureau. If we can seize viceroy Nunnally, then victory will be ours."
After relaying that message. Many Knightmares flew above the sky to the Tokyo Settlement. Not only the Agravaine and the Rekka Byakuen but also a new Knight-Giga Fortress that resembled the Sigfried that was being piloted by Jeremiah. As they closed in, Soul started to give orders as well.
"Everyone, split into groups, 1st, 2nd and 3rd squads, spread out around the settlement, search and destroy every enemy Knightmare being effected by the Gefjun Disturbers. Lyra, you lead them. Zero squad and Soul squad, follow me." Soul ordered them all. "We'll take out any enemy in the air and take the Viceroy!"
"Roger," Orpheus responded.
[Yes, sir!] All the Black Knights said in unison.
Area 11 Government Bureau
At the same time, within the bureau. Nunnally was in the Viceroy's office in the dark as all the power was out while holding a paper crane. Soon Lohmeyer enters with a lantern to light the room and stops in front of Nunnally.
"Viceroy Nunnally, it's Zero," Lohmeyer reported. "Zero is leading an assault."
"Zero," Nunnally repeated with a gasp.
Avalon
Meanwhile, aboard the Avalon, Schneizel begins to dispatch his forces while a large monitor shows the locations of every Gefjun Disturber in the Tokyo Settlement.
"Our first priority is to eliminate the Gefjun Disturbers along the railway circular routes," Schneizel informed them before looking at Kanon. "Can't we dispatch the Lancelot for that?"
Kanon smiled before answering. "That'll depend upon the current state of Sir Kururugi's mindset."
Schneizel chuckled slightly before adding. "The battlefield's not a place for him to work out internal issues."
Knightmare Hangar
Meanwhile, Nina goes into the Lancelot Hangar, intending to pilot it herself in Suzaku's place, despite Cecile and Lloyd's protests.
"Nina, you don't know what you're doing!" Cecile tried to stop her.
"If we don't act, the Black Knights will capture the Tokyo settlement." Nina reminded them.
"But you're not a Devicer. You may have designed the system but you have no battle skills." Lloyd pointed out.
"With the F.C.C, I can at least defend the government bureau." Nina insisted.
"But are you prepared to actually fire the F.L.E.I.J.A?" In a nick of time, Suzaku comes in with his battle gear and chides Nina. "And more importantly, are you prepared to not fire?"
Tokyo Settlement
Back inside the Shinkiro, Lelouch was hovering around the downtown area of the Tokyo Settlement and contacted Todoh. "Todoh, have Asahina and Chiba establish air supremacy." He ordered.
"Roger," Todoh responded.
Lelouch then thought to himself. "That should cover everything except their newer Knightmares 6th generation and above." He contacts Rolo now. "Rolo, what's the word from Logan?"
"Big Brother dispatched our special forces throughout the settlement to take out enemy Knightmares and defend the Gefjun Disturbers," Rolo reported.
"That's good," Lelouch replied before contacting Kallen. "Kallen, how is your infiltration proceeding?"
"Sayoko and her group have gone on ahead of us," Kallen reported. "We'll rendezvous with them after I get inside. It's all set up."
"Good. Be sure she sends word when she reclaims Nunnally." Lelouch ordered before hanging up. Before long Lelouch sees the Lancelot fly in and stop in front of the Shinkiro and the Vincent, Lelouch knew what that meant. "Suzaku."
"This'll be the last time we fight like this, all I need to do is defend the settlement until the others rescue Nunnally." Suzaku thought to himself before turning on his Knightmare's loudspeaker. "Listen up, Zero. Call off your attack. Both the Avalon and the Knights of the Round are defending this settlement, you won't succeed."
"Do you honestly believe you can intimidate us?" Zero asked, dismissing his warning. "Or are you forgetting that our side has someone far more capable than mere Knights of the Round?"
Suddenly a blast fires from out of nowhere that was aimed at the Lancelot, Suzaku dodged in the nick of time and sees that it come from the VARIS that was wielded by the Agravaine which had just arrived to face him.
"Still as fast as always, Suzaku Kururugi." Soul commented within his Knightmare.
"Soul, I should have known I'd be facing you." Suzaku brought out his own VARIS.
Suddenly Nina appeared on the Lancelot's communication screen, aboard the Avalon alongside Lloyd and Cecile. "Suzaku, fire the F.L.E.I.J.A! You should kill Zero and Soul now!" She insisted.
Suzaku shook his head. "I'm sorry, Nina. I won't unleash it. But I swear I will stop them."
Both the Agravaine and Lancelot fired their guns before flying around in different flight paths to start their air battle. When in close range they used their piloting skills to fight hand-to-hand with their machines and their MVS', when in long-range they used their weapons, blasters, and Slash Harkens. In both cases, they were evenly matched.
"Should we help him?" Rolo asked.
"No," Lelouch said. "Leave Suzaku to him, we have to carry on with the operation and take back Nunnally."
Then out of nowhere, a large Megiddo Harken from the Tristan fires at the Shinkiro but Lelouch moved fast enough to activate his Knightmare's shield and blocked it. They then see Gino advancing towards them to join the battle while his Knightmare was in its Fortress mode.
"No one can defeat a Knight of the Round." Gino proclaimed as he shifted the Tristan into its battle mode. "No one!"
The Tristan brings out its MVS Polearm and prepares to attack Zero but he is intercepted by R.R's Vincent which brought out its MVS Lance and the two Knightmares clashed with their weapons, starting a battle themselves.
"Gino, you're here?" Suzaku asked surprised.
"Can't you look a bit happier when someone shows up to help?" Gino joked.
"Zero, I'll handle this one." Rolo offered.
"Not by yourself," Lelouch said before looking downward. "Jeremiah!"
"Yes, Your Majesty!" Jeremiah exclaimed from inside his machine.
Jeremiah then appeared from beneath and joins the battle as he attacks Gino in his Knight Giga Fortress; Sutherland Sieg.
As the name implies, the Sutherland Sieg is built around a Siegfried-colored Purist Sutherland, the head of which sticks out of the top. Unlike a standard Sutherland, it has Landspinners shaped like rollerblades for feet and a float system installed on each side of the foot. At first glance, its only visible armaments are its large cone-shaped Slash Harkens and the belly-mounted Hyper-velocity cannon; however, it also is equipped with an array of missile launchers. The Britannian energy shielding is replaced with the Radiant Wave Surger based shielding used on the Guren. The five conical Slash Harkens are also positioned differently. Two are mounted on the front as makeshift hands and can channel the energy from the generators on the hull to deliver an electric shock. The other three are located on the aft side: two are lined up parallel with the engine, and the remaining one is placed perpendicular to the cannon. In addition, like all Knightmares used by the Black Knights, the Sutherland Sieg comes with a countermeasure against Gefjun Disturbers for both the Knightmare and its pilot.
"The Siegfried's!" Suzaku gasped in surprise at seeing that machine.
"Lord Jeremiah…" Gino realized before smiling. "So what they said about Orange was true, huh?"
"Orange, you say?" Jeremiah chuckled before saying proudly. "That is the name of my loyalty." He answered, now taking Orange as a compliment.
"Jeremiah, we're to face him together," Rolo informed him.
"Very well, then!" Jeremiah unleashed his missile launchers. "Take this! The storm of my loyalty!"
Gino dodged them as the Vincent closed in and clashed with the Tristan again. Gino still didn't seem worried. "This ought to be fun."
Inside the Shinkiro, Lelouch was hurrying to type on the keyboard control panel as he became exasperated at the current situation. "This onslaught. It's all from Schneizel. Did he anticipate my moves?"
Ikaruga
On the Ikaruga on the bridge, Rakshata and her team note how well Jeremiah's machine is operating.
"The Sutherland Sieg seems to be effective." One of the researchers said.
"Yes, but…" Rakshata added with a disappointed tone. "We can never mass-produce a one-off unit that uses the Siegfried's system. That's understood, right?"
"Moving on, what's the status of the bureau?" Ohgi asked.
"Urabe and the others are currently facing the outer defence, including the Glaston Knights," Euphie answered.
"Report from Orpheus," Sugiyama announced. "More than 50% of enemy Knightmares that were affected by the Gefjun Disturber have been wiped out."
Area 11 Government Bureau
Now inside the bureau, Sayoko had just been contacted by Lelouch as she stood amid a hallway littered with dead bodies.
"That's right. I'll be rendezvousing with you a little later than I expected." Lelouch told her on the other line.
"Yes, understood. All interferences up to the 13th floor have already been dealt with. Group 2 is moving toward the hangers. They say that they've sighted priority item 3." Sayoko reported.
"Right. I'm counting on you." Lelouch told her before hanging up. A
Viceroy's Office
Meanwhile, in her office, Nunnally is adamantly denying Lohmeyer's request to evacuate the bureau.
"I won't. I refuse to flee this way." Nunnally insisted.
"The prime minister has personally ordered it," Lohmeyer informed her.
"My brother Schneizel?" Nunnally asked now surprised.
"The others cannot leave you behind. So if you stay, all must stay and die." Lohmeyer pointed out.
Hearing that made Nunnally start to rethink as the building started shaking from all the fighting outside.
Area 11 Government Bureau
Outside the government bureau, the remaining Four Holy Swords began fighting the remaining Glaston Knights in the sky above. Urabe, Asahina and Chiba were piloting Akatsuki Zikisans while David, Edgar and Claudio were piloting Gareths. Right now, Chiba and David were in the middle of a fight.
"You're no match for my Gareth!" David proclaimed confidently.
"Keep dreaming. We've got full air superiority!" Chiba countered.
"We want you!" Claudio charged.
Claudio's Gareth closed in on Chiba's Knightmare and was in position to fire its Hadron Cannon as Chiba became shook when she realized she couldn't dodge it.
"Oh, no. Todoh…" Chiba braced herself for death.
Fortunately for her, it didn't happen as she was saved at the last minute by Asahina who charged in and pushed her Knightmare out of the way of the blast before it went off. Saving both of their lives.
"I owe you deeply, Asahina," Chiba said gratefully
"You've got future plans in the works, right?" Asahina reminded her.
Chiba blushed, knowing what he was referring to before changing the subject. "So what's our next move? Zero ordered us not to attack the bureau itself until Viceroy Nunnally has been captured alive."
"Asahina, Chiba, do you read me?" Urabe contacted them.
"Yeah, we're listening," Asahina responded.
"I just got word from General Todoh," Urabe told them. "He's defending the Gefjun Disturbers from Schneizel's forces but they may not hold out, our job is to take out as many enemies as we can to halt any reinforcements."
[Roger!] They both said in unison before continuing to fight.
Tokyo Settlement
As the fighting continues, everyone is focusing more on defeating whoever is in front of them than any specific opponent. The Shinkiro fires the Zero Beam at the Tristan which responded by bringing its two Harken Megiddos together and when they combined they fire a powerful energy blast, the two beams collide. Elsewhere, the Agravaine fires its Hadron Blaster and wiped out a large number of enemies, the Lancelot spin-kicked an Akatsuki and destroyed it, Vincent used its Elbow-mounted Needle Blazer to destroy another enemy and the Sutherland Sieg fired its Belly-mounted Hyper-velocity Cannon at the Lancelot which dodged the cannon and the blast struck and destroyed a nearby building.
While the battle was raging on, Lelouch was thinking of his next strategy.
"Things are proceeding as planned so far, but how long can that last?" Lelouch asked himself before something appeared on his monitor. "What's this?"
Anya suddenly appears in the Mordred and slams into the Shinkiro, pushing Zero away from the others.
"Anya?" Suzaku gasped surprised. "Wait!"
Gino contacts him. "Suzaku, leave Zero to Anya," Gino advised.
"Zero!" Rolo called out.
"R.R," Soul contacted him. "Leave this to us, go back up Zero."
"Right." Rolo nodded before going after the Mordred.
Meanwhile, as they were much further away from the rest, Anya then begins engaging Zero, preparing to fire her Stark Hadron Cannon on his Absolute Defense Field at point-blank range.
"Which one do you think is stronger? Your shield or my Stark Hadron Cannon?" Anya asked before firing.
Her cannon unleashed an unbelievable amount of power and energy that the Shinkiro's shield struggled to deflected as the scattered energy was bursting out and causing collateral damage to nearby buildings.
"Even this shield, can't withstand this for very long." Lelouch grits his teeth in frustration.
Ikaruga
"Contact lost with the Shinkiro!" Hinata suddenly reported.
"Zero?" Ohgi asked surprised.
"Apparently he's engaging in combat with the Knight of Six!" Hinata continued.
"What are your orders for Hashimoto?" Minase asked.
"And we also have to defend Kujuukuri," Futaba added.
Euphie stepped forward to give orders. "Minami, you handle Hashimoto."
"Right, understood." Minami started working on it.
"Sugiyama, do we have any units we can send to help Zero?" Ohgi asked.
"Yoshida, Inoue, ah… And Tamaki." Sugiyama reluctantly spoke the last name.
"That'll do." Euphie decided. "Also, contacted Orpheus, have his group assist them."
"Got it." Sugiyama began to do so.
Area 11 Governemt Bureau
Back inside the bureau, Nunnally decided to evacuate and was onboard an escape craft as Lohmeyer was outside the aircraft alongside a soldier and she was talking on the phone with someone.
"Yes. Viceroy Nunnally is being put aboard the escape craft. But until the Gefjun Disturbers have all been deactivated. Right. We can't use a Knightmare without being targeted by the enemy. Yes. Understood." Lohmeyer said before hanging up.
"Are you sure about this?" The soldier asked. "Viceroy Nunnally didn't…"
Lohmeyer cut him off. "It's for her own good. Despite her feeble attempts to assert herself." She said dismissively.
Meanwhile, in the Knightmare Hanger, Sayoko and Kallen arrive and finally locate the Guren as Kallen prepared herself to pilot it.
"I think Miss Milly's former fiance was behind the changes. There seems to be a draft instruction manual with it. Shall we try to get it working?" Sayoko asked her.
Kallen stared at the Guren, almost taken aback. "It's different, somehow…"
Tokyo Settlement
At the same time, Todoh loses his foothold on some Gefjun Disturbers, as a large group of Britannian Knightmares continuously move in and shoot down every train on the railways that have Gefjun Disturbers on their roofs.
"We can't stretch our battle lines any further. We're already at the breaking point now!" Todoh cursed before moving back.
Avalon
Aboard the Avalon, a large monitor displays all the Gefjun Disturbers in the Tokyo Settlement and how many have been destroyed, as well as the ones that are currently being destroyed.
"All Gefjun Disturbers in Ikebukuro and Sugamo have been destroyed." A staff officer reported.
"Now we can reinforce our lines with fifth-generation Knightmares and older. We are also bringing the government bureau's defence system back online." Kanon said.
"The momentum has shifted but our forces were definitely thinned during the earlier stages of this battle," Schneizel said, looking over the current battlefield. "I'd say we've gone back to square one."
Area 11 Government Bureau
As almost all of the Gerjun Disturbers were destroyed, all the lights and power in the Tokyo Settlement switched back on and the lights around the government bureau returned which meant the security system had started up again.
"The lights!" Chiba gasped.
"We are out of time!" Asahina realized.
"Damn, we haven't found the Viceroy yet!" Urabe cursed.
Tokyo Settlement
Meanwhile, Anya and Zero are still fighting as the Mordred is still firing its Stark Hadron Cannon point-blank at the Absolute Defence Field.
"Just a little more…" Anya said, hoping to end this.
"Aagh!"
Before Anya could realize it, R.R appeared in his Vincent charged in from behind and used his MVS Lance to slash at the Mordred's back, Anya tried to move but due to the position the Mordred was in-Being locked in with the Shinkiro. he could only turn slightly as The Vincent slashed off the right side of her float unit.
"…From behind?" Anya said surprised.
That was all she could say before she broke away from Zero's Knightmare and her Knightmare started hurtling towards the ground.
"You saved me…" Lelouch said relieved. "I…"
Before he could go on, to his and Rolo's surprise, four other Vincents that were being piloted by the Valkyrie squadron appeared and used their Slash Harken to wrap around all of the Shinkiro's limbs, tying it up in midair. Luciano then appeared within his Percival and approaches him from the front.
"Zero, face it. Your Black Rebellion is doomed to fail." Luciano said confidently.
"They sent another Knight of the Round?" Lelouch said surprised and concerned.
"Luciano Bradley," Rolo said while narrowing his eyes and preparing for a fight.
"Here's a question. What do people value most? Answer: their lives. Of course." Luciano gave his usual monologue as he readied himself to attack.
"Hold it!" A yelled out.
Before Luciano could do anything, a few missile-launched bazookas fired at the Percival while Luciano blocked with his shield. Soon, three Akatsukis and the Rekka Byakuen arrived to face Luciano and the Valkyrie squadron.
"Let Zero go! Or you'll have to deal with me, Shinichiro Tamaki, his best bud!" Tamaki cheered, fired up.
"You know you're not alone right?" Yoshida reminded him.
"Hmm, reinforcements?" Luciano noticed, sounding almost bored.
"You're all here?" Lelouch asked surprised.
"Orders from Euphemia. We're here to back you up." Inoue informed him.
"R.R, you and the others take out those Knightmares, leave this Knight of the Round to me." Orpheus requested the others.
"Alright then." R.R complied.
Tamaki, Inoue, Yoshida and Rolo all moved in on the Valkyrie squadron, forcing them to let go of the Shinkiro in order to fight back as a four-way battle started. At the same time, while Orpheus confronted Luciano.
"This is where I end you, Vampire of Britannia," Orpheus said threateningly.
"Ha, since we're on a battlefield, I think I'll help myself to your blood," Luciano replied hauntingly.
Luciano activated the Percival's MVS particle drill-lance and Orpheus activated the Rekka Byakuen's 7-Type Integrated Armaments Right Arm and shifted it into its drill mode. The two then charged at each other and their weapons clashed.
Area 11 Government Bureau
Back inside the Knightmare Hanger, Kallen changed into her piloting suit and entered the Guren's cockpit while Sayoko stood by and read the instruction manual.
"The basic system is the same?" Kallen inputs the key and turns on the Guren.
"We're still trying to determine Master Zero's current position. Shall I transfer the I.F.F. data?" Sayoko asked.
"Yes, please," Kallen replied right away.
"Let's see. Guren S.E.I.T.E.N. Eight. It could be…" Sayoko checked the information on the Knightmare.
Kallen brought out the Guren's landspinners, closed the cockpit and then a pair of wings sprouted from the Guren's back. "Confirm activation."
"Activation confirmed. You're good to go." Sayoko confirmed. "Once the Guren is launched, we'll return to our mission."
"Right. You take care of the Viceroy. I'll have Zero." Kallen said.
"Agreed. Well then." Sayoko said.
Kallen readied herself. "Guren!"
"S.E.I.T.E.N. Eight Elements Launching!" Sayoko announced.
"Now launch!" Kallen proclaimed.
As the Guren launches, the two wings it sprouted now gain energy feathers that reflect a neon red light. At blinding speed, Kallen takes flight with the Guren and smashes through the government bureau.
The Guren now uses the Energy Wings with four energy "feathers" on each wing. The feathers are capable of functioning as blades, shields, and projectiles. The system allows the Guren to move at blinding speeds, such that it appears to be little more than a purple blur in flight. Its Radiant Wave Surger arm has gold highlights on the fingers and forearm and has been upgraded from its previous form. Additional armour has been added to the knees and ankles, the antennae have been extended and enlarged, giving the appearance of giant ears. The torso has been remade, with the orange section extended further outward and a pair of green jewels featured prominently on the front. Its namesake comes from its operation system, the Superlative Extruder Interlocked Technology Exclusive Nexus (S.E.I.T.E.N.) Eight Elements.
As Kallen entered the battlefield, the sheer force of the Guren destroys the right arm of David's Gareth. "What the…?
The shock that came from this distracted David long enough to allow Chiba to come in from behind and stab his Knightmare in the back. David now knew that he was doomed and spoke his final words.
"Father, I let you down. Forgive me." David then died as his Knightmare exploded.
"David!" Claudio cried out in horror at the death of his fellow Glaston Knight.
Kallen starts dashing around in the Guren at such great speed that Chiba can barely make her out in her Knightmare.
"Is that Kozuki?" Chiba wondered. "But that unit she's flying…"
Kallen then proceeds to zip all across the battlefield in a matter of seconds, destroying all enemies in her path.
Tokyo Settlement
Meanwhile, as the battle continued, the Black Knights had the upper hand against the Valkyrie squadron while Orpheus and Luciano seemed to be evenly matched without either one able to gain an advantage.
The Shinkiro was nearby but Lelouch was unable to join the fighting.
"I wish I could help them but I used too much energy with the Mordred." Lelouch cursed as he watched.
Suddenly Futaba contacted him. "Zero, do you read me, Zero?!"
"What is it?" Lelouch responded.
"It's trouble! We've picked out a fleet over the Pacific!" Futaba urgently reported.
"What about it?" Lelouch questioned.
Then Ohgi contacted him. "Zero, it's me. It seems to be the Britannian emperor's flagship!"
"What?" Lelouch's eyes went wide. "He's coming to Area 11 as well?"
Avalon
Aboard the Avalon, the monitor displayed a crater around Area 11 which showed Charles flagship heading on route to the nation but Schneizel shook his head.
"No, His Majesty is not coming to the battlefield." Schneizel deduced.
"What makes you so certain of that?" Kanon asked.
"Do you think he cares about his mundane things, the day we call today?" Schneizel asked with a scowl. "He doesn't."
Tokyo Settlement
As the battle continued, the Perival's and Rekka Bykauen's drills clashed again ut this time Orpheus's Knightmare was pushed back, which made Luciano more confident.
"Haha! It doesn't matter what weapon you use, my machine is still superior!" Luciano proclaimed confidently. "Now prepare yourself as I take what you value most!"
"I won't lose to a manica like you!" Orpheus shot back.
But, instead of moving forward, Luciano noticed something and moved his Knightmare back as the Guren was zipping around and closed in on their location. The Valkyrie squadron though didn't notice in time as while they were still fighting, the Guren dashed past them and used its energy wings to slice through their Knightmares and caused them all to explode, killing the pilots.
Kallen then brought the Guren in front of the Shinkiro defensively. "Be careful what you wish for, Vampire of Britannia."
Luciano gave her a smug expression. "Really?"
"That voice?" Rolo noticed.
"Isn't that the Guren?" Orpheus realized.
"Is that Kallen?" Lelouch gasped with a mix of shock and joy.
"Zero, I'm here. Your elite guard Kallen Kozuki is back on the battle line!" Kallen said proudly.
Avalon
Meanwhile, aboard the Avalon, Lloyd became frantic when he saw the Guren appear on the battlefield.
"You thieves! That's mine! All mine!" Lloyd loudly proclaimed.
"Oh, not quite. I did some of the upgrades, remember?" Cecile pleasantly reminded him.
"Oh, right. It's actually collaboration… What am I talking about?" Lloyd looked back at the screen with dismay. "With a capable Devicer, even its 60% output that unit can cut the other Knightmares to ribbons."
Ikaruga
Meanwhile, on the Ikaruga, Rakshata looked extremely displeased at the current state the Guren was in. "That's the Earl of Pudding's work and Cecile's energy wings. How dare they? Altering my Guren without my permission!"
Everyone else seemed pleased though as Ohgi said. "Still, now that we've got Kallen back in the combat zone."
"It will put the battle back in our favour." Euphie finished his sentence.
Tokyo Settlement
The others gathered around the Guren.
"Kallen, you got the Guren back?" Tamaki noticed.
"And it looks a little different?" Inoue noticed.
"Yeah, they upgraded it while it was still there," Kallen said before looking at Orpheus. "Sorry, but could you let me handle him."
"Fine then, he's your's." Orpheus agreed to her request before turning to the others. "R.R, stay with Zero, the rest of us will assist Todoh."
[Roger!] Yoshida, Inoue and Tamaki said in unison before they flew off.
"Sir Bradley, you have permission to destroy the Guren." One of the soldiers reported.
"Irrelevant!" Luciano brushed them off. "Killing is all one should do on the battlefield."
Luciano decides to fight Kallen and proceeds to shoot missiles at her with his shield. However, her speed allows her to avoid the missiles and send them directly into Britannian troops, then uses her weapon arm to fire the Radiant Wave Surger (which now functions like a grappling hook) to try and catch him, but Luciano dodges around it and knocks another Britannian Knightmare into its path to use as a human shield. Kallen then fired the long-range Radiant Wave Surger, wiping out even more troops in the distance.
"Eleven. Do you know the prime truth of the battlefield?" Luciano began brazenly. "Kill a man off the field, then you're a criminal. But killing 'em all on it and you're a big hero."
"So, the Vampire of Britannia wants to be a hero now. Is that it?" Kallen questioned dismissively.
"No, not at all. War allows me to officially take what people value most. Their lives!" Luciano declared gleefully.
"Some knight. You're barely a scoundrel!" Kallen said disgusted by him.
Kallen uses the Guren's weapon arm to create an energy disc and threw it at Luciano. He deflects it with the Percival's shield but the shield becomes broken and so he throws it away and tries to hit Kallen with his MVS particle drill lance.
"And now…" Luciano thrusts his drill.
"And now what?" Kallen brought out the Guren's fork-knife which now had the properties of an MVS and blocked the drill-lance before destroying it. "That's not gonna work."
"Ah, but now I've got you in close range." Luciano reminded her.
Luciano then fired the Percival's Slash Harkens at Kallen but the Guren catches both of them and grabs Luciano's Knightmare with her weapon arm.
"What?" Luciano gasped in shock.
Kallen then had the Guren hold the Percival by its head and redied the Radiant Wave Surger.
"Question. What do you value the most? Your own pitiful life?" Kallen returned his phrase.
"You think an Eleven can threaten me?!" Luciano desperately retorted.
"Send a postcard," Kallen said before activating it.
The Guren's Radiant Wave Surger then activated and began to fry Luciano's Knightmare.
"My life! My life is taken by a lowly Eleven?!" Luciano yelled in horror.
After those words, Luciano met his death as his Knightmare exploded taking him out along with it. As that was happening, Soul and Suzaku were still fighting and before long their fight brought them further into the settlement where they were able to witness Kallen end Luciano, Gino and Jeremiah were close by as well.
"That was nuts, how did the Guren become so powerful?" Logan asked impressed.
"I remember Lloyd saying he got carried away in upgrading it, but I thought he said it was so suped-up that it couldn't be piloted?" Suzaku pointed out, taken aback. "So how is Kallen able to?"
"Hmm, I suppose it just means that Kallen is in a word; The ideal pilot for the Guren." Logan reasoned.
"You might just be right about that." Gino joined in while dodging Jeremiah. "Suzaku, handle this guy for me, I want to settle things with Kallen, okay?" He requested.
"It won't be easy," Kallen replied confidently.
"I'm sorry, Gino." Suzaku declined, focusing on Soul. "That pilot isn't the kind of pilot you can mess around with."
Meanwhile, Todoh's forces were through to the enemy's formation and closing in on the Avalon. Edgar tried to stop him but Todoh's Zangetsu slashed through Edgar's Gareth and slicing it in half.
"Impossible! My Gareth!" Edgar shouted.
After saying those words, his Knightmare exploded and Edgar died in the blast.
Avalon
On the bridge of the Avalon, they saw the Black Knights advancing as Kanongave orders to the staff officers.
"Raise all the shields in area four," Kanon instructed.
Tokyo Settlement
"We're just after Schneizel's head. Assume Slash and Encircle Formation!" Todoh commanded as they closed in.
"Todoh!" Orpheus called out.
Soon he and the other three who came with him arrived and moved in beside Todoh and his fleet.
"General Todoh, we're here to aid you!" Yoshida said.
"Very well then, follow me!" Todoh charged, slashing through more Knightmares.
Ikaruga
Aboard the Ikaruga, the monitor on the bridge was displaying the state of the battle as it showed Todoh and the others advancing toward the Avalon.
"Todoh's forces have broken through to the enemy's command ship!" Minase reported.
Suddenly, something appeared on the monitor displaying the inner parts of their ship and Hinata reported it. "Explosion detected in section 4-I of the ship!"
Euphie looked worried when she heard that, knowing the only person it could be. "Don't tell me it's…?"
Just as Euphie was thinking, Cornelia was able to free herself from the bindings that held her in the private room, and instead of opening the door see used a small explosive to burst the door down before leaving to find Darlton and escape.
Tokyo Settlement
Back to the battle, both the Lancelot and the Agravaine fired their Hadron Blasters and the two beams clashed while Suzaku and Logan looked miffed.
"I need to bring this battle into close range," Suzaku said.
"I can't let him close the distance," Logan said.
Area 11 Government Bureau
Inside the government bureau, the escape plane that Nunnally and Lohmeyer were aboard was now mounted on a landing dock and ready to launch but halted as two soldiers spoke through the communicator.
"Your escape route is towards the Ikebukuro front." One soldier said.
"But there are still Black Knights in your flight pass. Wait till we've mopped them up before you launch." Another soldier said.
Unbeknownst to them, Sayoko and two other disguised Black Knights were there two and were preparing to enter the plane.
Tokyo Settlement
As Lelouch continued to watch the fighting, Sayoko contacted him.
"Master Zero, we found the Viceroy," Sayoko reported.
"I see. Excellent work." Lelouch praised her, very pleased.
"Master Asahina will escort us out of here as soon as he reaches this stage of the bureau with his Knightmare. He'll be here in a moment." Sayoko said through the communicator.
"Understood. Victory is within our reach." Lelouch said before contacting the others. "Everyone! Finish off those two now. Suzaku and Gino are the only things standing in our way! Kallen, head back to the government bureau and get Nunnally!"
"Right!" Rolo said, joining the battle.
"Understood!" Kallen did the same.
"Yes, your Majesty!" Jeremiah fought on.
"Leave it to me!" Logan prepared to fire again.
Avalon
Seeing the situation, Lloyd and Cecile started to fear for Suzaku's life.
"Get out of there, Suzaku," Lloyd warned him.
"You can't beat those numbers," Cecile added.
"But, Soul…!" Suzaku persisted.
"Oooh!" Lloyd groaned annoyed.
"Self-centred brat!" Cecile snapped frustrated.
Tokyo Settlement
Suzaku and Soul kept on fighting evenly. Both of them fired their Slash Harkens which ended in a stalemate, Suzaku then closed in and had the Lancelot spin-kick at the Agravaine, which the Agravaine blocked using its arm, then Logan fired his wrist-mounted blaster at the Lancelot which Suzaku blocked with his Blaze Luminose.
Nina contacted him again. "Fire, Suzaku! Use the F.L.E.I.J.A!" She screamed.
"No, Nina." Suzaku rejected her wish. " That kind of power is too much. We can't use it in a place like this…"
They separated and both Knightmares drew their swords.
Area 11 Government Bureau
Back in the bureau, Nunnally was still in her plane as she suddenly heard the sounds of people being beaten up behind and she turned around. Even though she couldn't see, Sayoko was standing there at the open door.
"Miss Nunnally!" Sayoko called out to her.
Avalon
Nina continued to watch the fighting rage on and was becoming increasingly desperate for Suzaku to fire the F.L.E.I.J.A.
"Unleash the F.L.E.I.J.A.! You can still save yourself!" Nina was practically egging at this point.
"I can't do that!" Suzaku responded.
Kanon leaned over to speak to Schneizel.
"Sir, it appears he won't fire it no matter what," Kanon said.
"Well then…" Schneizel then brought out a switch with a button on it. "It's a good thing I had a contingency."
Schneizel pushed the button.
Tokyo Settlement
A hatch opened on the bow of the Avalon and from it a F.L.E.I.J.A warhead shot out and launched through the battlefield before it stopped in the middle of the Tokyo settlement. At that point the F.L.E.I.J.A started pulsating as though it was building up power and pink electronic energy were surging around it.
"Is this… F.L.E.I.J.A.?" Claudio saw it from his Gareth and immediately feared for his life as he contacted his allies. "Fall back! All units, retreat!"
Chiba saw all the Britannian Knightmares fleeing and became confused. "Why are the Britannians running?" Her confusion turned to concern as she contacted Asahina. "We have to retreat, too. Asahina, are you reading me? Get out of the government bureau! Asahina!"
However, Urabe's Knightmare appeared beside her's and grabbed her. "There's no time! Let's go!"
Ikaruga
Aboard the Ikaruga, the others seemed to notice something was wrong as well.
"Something's wrong. Pull the Ikaruga back at maximum speed!" Minami said urgently.
Tokyo Settlement
"What's going on? What is that?" Logan asked feeling unsure.
"No, it's can't be. They've fired the F.L.E.I.J.A!?" Suzaku let out, horrified.
"Fired a F.L.E.I.J.A?" Rolo repeated nervously.
"Could that be some kind of weapon?" Lelouch wondered before horror and realization hit him. "NUNNALLY!"
The pink projectile suddenly expands into a great explosive sphere that looked like it was made of bright pink light. The pink explosion gets larger and larger, and as a result, the government bureau and everything within a gigantic radius is consumed by it and everything consumed completely disintegrates into nothingness.
Area 11 Government Bureau
The F.L.E.I.J.A. explosion consumes the entire government and everyone inside, including Sayoko, Asahina, Lohmeyer and Nunnally are all caught in the blast.
"Wha, what's happening?" Asahina asked himself before the light reaches him.
"Why did they use the F.L.E.I.J.A. here?" Lohmeyer asked before the light consumes her.
Soon the light reached the plane that Nunnally and Sayoko were aboard.
Tokyo Settlement
The blast just kept growing and extending, absorbing buildings, towns, area and people too. Millions of people were caught in the explosion but the only thing Lelouch was focusing on was the government bureau where Nunnally was that was also being absorbed by the blast. He froze, staring at it with a horror-stricken expression, unable to move and only saved from the blast consuming him by the others pulling his Knightmare and flying away. The explosion soon stops and collapses in on itself and launches all matter is absorbed into another dimension, sucking the air around it with such great force that the Ikaruga is nearly thrown off balance. But through it all, Schneizel is seen giving a smirk.

The next day as the sun was starting to rise over the horizon, Lelouch was still in the Shinkiro and while heartbroken and in a daze, he called Logan.
"Logan," Lelouch said.
"Yes, Lelouch?" Logan responded, sounding quiet and emotionless.
"Could you please let me speak with Nunnally?" Lelouch requested. "I can't reach Sayoko."
"…You know very well that I can't do that." Logan stoically told him.
"It'll just be for a minute, I swear. I just wanna talk to Nunnally. That's all." Lelouch requested again.
"Don't make me tell you what you already know," Logan said begrudgingly. "Nunnally is dead."
"DON'T LIE TO ME!" Lelouch snapped manically before leaning back and looking as though all the strength had was fading away. "Please, Logan. Could you just for a moment, please… Let me speak with Nunnally…"
Things pan out to reveal that the F.L.E.I.J.A. has destroyed almost the entire Tokyo Settlement, wiping out the bureau, all the cities and over 25 million people. Only a crater was left.

I gotta say this chapter was 6not easy to write, characters that are all about fighting all over the board are never easy for me. But I'm pretty sure I have a clear idea of everything that comes after this so It'll be smooth sailing from now on until the end.
I only changed up a few things in this battle so it wasn't too different, but as you saw I changed the way the F.L.E.I.J.A was fired. This Suzaku wouldn't fire it and his life wasn't in danger and Schneizel being the master tactician that he is obviously would have a plan B in case something like that happened, plus they have more than one F.L.E.I.J.A so nothing would stop him.
