(The Wizarding World)
The year was 1992 and it was a miserable summer evening for Harry Potter as he was stuck in his home on 4 Privet Drive in Little Whinging, England.
Instead of living in the cupboard under the stairs, Harry now had his own room, a spare room previously owned by his cousin, Dudley to keep themselves from getting into trouble with the school of Hogwarts as they had learned from Hagrid's visit last year. The room was the smallest in the whole house. There was a bed to the right-side, a desk infront of the window, and a wardrobe near the door on the right.
Despite his new living arrangements, Harry was still down in the dumps. Not only was it his twelfth birthday, but neither of his friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, have wrote to him all summer or sent him birthday wishes, which he thought was strange.
Sitting at his desk, Harry looked through the magic photo album that Hagrid had given him after his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He gazes down at a moving photo of himself as a baby with his deceased parents, Lily and James Potter, as they both held him in their arms with big smiles on their faces.
Turning the page, he stares at another picture which had him, Devon, Ron, and Hermione smiling and standing together. They looked so happy in the picture. Harry really missed Ron and Hermione, but not as much as he missed Devon, his first and true friend he ever made in his life. Devon was his kindred spirit. The wizard boy would want nothing more than to see him again.
Harry heard rattling and squeals in the room and he turns and looks at is pet snow owl, Hedwig, on his left, who was kept in her cage with a padded lock to keep her inside day and night. The poor creature was bored of being locked up and not being able to fly freely, but it wasn't Harry's fault. As much as he wanted to let her out, magic was forbidden in the Muggle world. Not only that, his Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia wouldn't allow him from ever letting Hedwig out.
The owl bites the lock and the bars of her cage, screeching loudly as she desperately wanted to be let out.
"I can't let you out, Hedwig. I'm not allowed to use magic outside of school. Besides, if Uncle Vernon-" Harry says
As if on cue, Vernon's angry, irritated voice calls out from downstairs.
"Harry Potter!" Vernon calls out
Harry looks over at the door to his room, letting out a sigh as he glances back at Hedwig.
"Now you've done it." Harry groans
Downstairs, Petunia was in the kitchen, putting the finishing touches onto her pudding she made, carefully placing cherries onto the dessert.
The pudding was a huge, two-level mound of whipped cream and sugared violets, ringed by cherries on the top and bottom, sitting on a tall dessert plate.
But the pudding wasn't for them. The Dursleys were preparing a dinner party for one of Vernon's clients, the Mason Family, who he was hoping to secure an investment for his drilling company called Grunnings, which he was the leading founder.
Harry descends downstairs from the hall and walks into the kitchen where his aunt directs him to the living room.
"He's over there. Vernon." Petunia says
Harry walks around the corner and looks over at Vernon, who was getting Dudley ready. Dudley was wearing a fancy suit while Vernon was fixing his bowtie around his neck. Vernon pauses and looks back at Harry, giving him a warning about Hedwig.
"I'm warning you. If you can't control that bloody bird, it'll have to go." Vernon warns
"But she's bored. If I could only let her out for... an hour or two." Harry says
Vernon scoffs.
"Ha. So you can send secret messages to your freaky little friends? No, sir." Vernon says
"But I haven't had any messages. From any of my friends. Not one. All summer." Harry says
After his suit was fixed up, Dudley turns to his cousin.
"Who wants to be friends with you?" Dudley asks in a snobbish voice
Dudley walks past his cousin roughly shoves him with his right-shoulder, moving past Harry and into the kitchen. Harry looks back at him with an annoyed expression, but eases up as he turns to his uncle as he stood before him.
"I think you should be a little more grateful. We've raised you since you were a baby, given you the food of our table, even let you have Dudley's second bedroom, purely out of the goodness of our hearts." Vernon says
Dudley was taking some licks out of the pudding that Petunia made with his fingers until she stops him.
"Not now, bobkins. It's for when the Masons arrive." Petunia says
"Which should be any minute." Vernon says
The Dursleys walk into the lounge and gather around.
"Now, let's go over the schedule again, shall we? Petunia, when the Masons arrive, you will be...?" Vernon says
"In the lounge, waiting to welcome them graciously to our home." Petunia says walking over to a sofa
"Good. And, Dudley, you will be...?" Vernon says
"I'll be waiting to open the door." Dudley says
"Excellent." Vernon says
The three Dursleys look toward Harry.
"And you?" Vernon asks
"I'll be in my bedroom, making no noise and pretending that I don't exist." Harry says
"Too right, you will. With any luck, this could well be the day I make the biggest deal of my career, and you will not mess it up." Vernon says
Harry heads back upstairs to his room just as the doorbell to the house rings, announcing the arrival of the Masons. He enters his room and stops at the door when he saw something that caught him by surprise. Inside the room was a small creature jumping up and down on his bed, laughing with joy. It was a house-elf named Dobby.
As a house-elf, Dobby was much shorter in stature than humans, standing only about 3 and a half feet. He had large, tennis-ball-like green eyes, a pencil-like nose and long, bat-like pointed ears. He wore a body-covering pillow case.
"Harry Potter... Such an honor it is." Dobby says
Harry quickly closes the door of his room and turns to the house-elf.
"Who are you?" Harry asks
"Dobby, sir. Dobby the house-elf."
"Not to be rude or anything, but this isn't a great time for me to have a house-elf in my bedroom." Harry says
"Oh, yes, sir, Dobby understands. It's just that Dobby has come to tell you... It is difficult, sir. Dobby wonders where to begin." Dobby says
"Why don't you sit down?" Harry asks
"S-Sit down? Sit down?" Dobby asks
Dobby jumps down from the bed, turns away from Harry, and starts crying, sobbing loudly.
"Dobby, shush. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you or anything." Harry apologizes
The house-elf regains his composure and faces Harry.
"Offend Dobby? Dobby has heard of your greatness, sir, but never has he been asked to sit down by a wizard... like an equal." Dobby says
"You can't have met any decent wizards, then." Harry says
"No, I haven't." Dobby says
The house-elf soon realizes what he says and his expression changes to one of shame.
"That was an awful thing to say." Dobby says
Dobby walks over to the drawer on his right and repeatingly bangs his head against it.
"Bad Dobby! Bad Dobby!" Dobby says
Knowing that the Dursleys would hear this from downstairs, Harry calls out to the house-elf to stop.
"Dobby, stop! Please, Dobby! Dobby, please, stop!" Harry says
Downstairs, the Dursleys were sitting in the lounge with Mr. Mason and his wife, pouring each other bottles of wine into their glass cups when they heard the banging upstairs. They pause for a moment and look up at the ceiling. Vernon knew that it was his nephew upstairs, but he had no idea what was happening. He tells the Masons to pay no mind to the noise.
"Oh, don't mind that. It's just the cat." Vernon says
Dobby had banged his head against the drawer for half a minute, but he was now starting to ease up.
"Dobby, stop! Please be quiet." Harry says
After banging his head more times, the house-elf stumbles backwards, holding his head with his right-hand.
"Are you alright?" Harry asks
Dobby climbs up onto the stool near Harry's desk and turns to the wizard boy.
'Dobby had to punish himself, sir. Dobby almost spoke ill of his family, sir." Dobby says
"Your family?" Harry asks
"The wizard family Dobby serves, sir. Dobby is bound to serve one family forever. If they ever knew Dobby was here..." Dobby says
Dobby shudders at the thought of being punished.
"Ooh!" Dobby says
Regaining his composure, Dobby looks up at Harry.
"But Dobby had to come. Dobby has to protect Harry Potter. To warn him. Harry Potter must not go back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry this year. There is a plot. A plot to make most terrible things happen." Dobby says
"What terrible things? Who's plotting them?" Harry asks
Dobby shut his eyes and grunted as he restrained himself from saying more.
"Oh, he... can't... say!" Dobby says
"Okay, I understand. You can't say." Harry says
Feeling the need to punish himself more, Dobby climbs up onto the desk, grabs the lamp, and whacks himself in the head with the bottom while Harry tries to stop him.
"Dobby! Dobby, put the lamp down!" Harry says
The Dursleys were still having their dining party with the Masons as Vernon
"So, when they arrive at the ninth hole..." Vernon says
Everything pauses again as the party was interrupted by more noise coming from upstairs, causing everyone to look up at the ceiling. Vernon was now getting annoyed as he glances up with an irritated expression, narrowing his eyes.
In his room, Harry was wrestling with Dobby for his lamp, trying to take it back and keep him quiet.
"Give me the lamp!" Harry says
Harry soon heard approaching footsteps outside his room, causing him to glance left briefly towards the door. He knew it was his Uncle Vernon coming up to investigate all the racket they were making.
"Dobby, stop!" Harry says
Eventually, the wizard boy takes the lamp from the house-elf and sets it down on his desk. Acting quickly, Harry grabs Dobby by his pillow case robe and hastily walks over to his wardrobe.
"Get in there and keep quiet!" Harry says
Harry throws the house-elf into his wardrobe just as Vernon opens the door to his room.
"What the devil are you doing up here?!" Vernon asks
"I-I was just-" Harry says
Harry glances over to his left and saw the left door of his wardrobe opening up slightly, probably Dobby trying to take a peek, but he closes it shut with his left-hand and faces his uncle.
"You just ruined the punchline of my Japanese golfer joke." Vernon says
"Sorry." Harry apologizes
The wardrobe door opens up again, but Harry shuts it. Vernon holds up one finger on his right-hand, threatening his nephew with one final warning.
"One more sound, and you'll wish you'd never been born, boy. And fix that door." Vernon warns
The wizard boy closes the wardrobe for a third time, then looks back at his uncle.
"Yes, sir." Harry says
Vernon leaves the room and shuts the door, heading back downstairs to return to the dinner party. Once he was gone, Harry opens up his wardrobe, revealing Dobby, who steps out, removing a grey sock from his right-ear.
"See why I've got to go back? I don't belong here. I belong in your world, at Hogwarts. It's the only place I've got friends." Harry says
"Friends who don't even write to Harry Potter?" Dobby asks
"Well, I expect they've been..." Harry says
Harry pauses and looks at Dobby in surprise.
"Hang on. How do you know my friends haven't been writing to me?" Harry asks
Dobby froze and his eyes quickly dart to the left and back upon realizing what he had just said.
"Harry Potter mustn't be angry with Dobby." Dobby says holding up his right-hand in his defense
The house-elf reaches into the left-side of his robe with his left-hand and takes out a bunch of letters, holding them close to him.
"Dobby hoped if Harry Potter thought his friends had forgotten him, Harry Potter might not want to go back to school, sir." Dobby says
Now, Harry knew why he hadn't received any letters from his friends. This little thief had intercepted them before they could reach him. Those were his letters and he wanted them.
"Give me those... now." Harry says in a demanding voice
"No!" Dobby says
Dobby puts the letters back into his pillow case robe and quickly slips past Harry as reaches out to grab him. He runs out of the bedroom into the hallway with the wizard boy hot on his heels.
Harry chases Dobby down the stairs until they stop at the entrance to the kitchen. Dobby looks up at the pudding as it sat on it's plate on the kitchen counter and an idea forms in his head. He glances back at Harry, who quietly calls for him.
"Dobby, get back here." Harry says in a quiet voice pointing down to where he was with his right-hand
The house-elf shakes his head and turns back to the dessert. Snapping his right-finger, which lets loose some sparks, Dobby casts a levitation charm, which lifts the pudding up from it's plate stand, leaving it suspended in the air.
"Dobby... Please, no." Harry says
"Harry Potter must say he's not going back to school." Dobby says turning back to Harry
"I can't. Hogwarts is my home." Harry says
"Then Dobby must do it, sir, for Harry Potter's own good." Dobby says
Snapping his fingers again, Dobby sends the pudding slowly hovering towards the living room. Harry pushes past Dobby, shoving him back with his right-hand as goes to stop the dessert before it gets too far. Coming out into the kitchen, Harry watches as the pudding hovers straight towards the Masons. He had to stop it before it reached them. Steadily moving forward into the living room, Harry reaches out for the pudding with both hands.
The Dursleys saw Harry coming into the living room and the pudding floating in the air, but said nothing and held alarmed expressions on their faces. The pudding dessert was soon floating right over Mrs. Mason's head with Harry approaching behind her.
Just as the wizard boy was right behind them, Dobby snaps his fingers and the pudding falls onto Mrs. Mason's head, splattering whipped cream and frosting all over her. Harry gripped his hands into fists and lowered them, knowing that he had failed to stop the incident in time. The room fell into an awkward silence until Vernon speaks up to apologize to the Masons.
"I'm so sorry. It's my nephew. He's very disturbed. Meeting strangers upsets him. That's why I kept him upstairs." Vernon says
Harry turns around to see Dobby hiding behind the corner of the kitchen until he snaps his fingers and he vanishes into thin air, fading away like a rush of slow, glistening wind, leaving the wizard boy to his fate with the Dursleys.
Vernon promised that he would strip Harry an inch of his life and that's exactly what he did. After the incident last night with the Mason Family, Vernon installed metal bars onto the window of Harry's room, standing on a tall metal ladder and drilling them tightly into the side of the building. Once he was finished, he tugs on the bars to ensure they were secured, then looks in at Harry through the window as he was locked in his room.
"You're never going back to that school. And you're never gonna see those freaky friends of yours again. Never!" Vernon says
Elsewhere in the Muggle world, Devon walks through a fertile meadow among rolling hills in the outskirts of Ottery St. Catchpole in Devon, England, having arrived in the Wizarding World. It was nearly dusk in the day as the Keyblade Wielder made his way through the meadow with the orange sun nearly touching down over the horizon.
"I wonder how Harry is doing? Hopefully, the Dursleys aren't being too rough on him after our last visit." Devon says
Eventually, Devon stops and places his hands on his waist as he takes in the scenery. The Keyblade Wielder had a nice view of the surrounding area, standing up on a low hill. He didn't see Hogwarts anywhere, but instead saw farmland, green pastures, cornfields, orchards, and fields of tall grass.
"Where am I?" Devon asks
Unknown to the Keyblade Wielder, he was being watched by a pair of large green eyes among the nearby brush. It was Dobby, after having just left Harry with the Dursleys. He was rather curious to see who this young teen was. Dobby could tell that Devon was not any sort of Muggle, nor did he appear to be a wizard. If he was what he suspected he was...
Suddenly, a group of Dream Eaters appeared infront Devon. These were Woeflowers, Drak Quacks, Majik Lapins, Peepsta Hoos, and Kooma Pandas.
Drak Quacks were Dream Eaters that seemed to be a cross between a duck and a wyvern-type dragon, but had a duck-like appearance. It had an egg-shaped body that had eyes, a mouth, and a tongue, duck-like feet, a dragon head with two horns, two small wings, and the Nightmare Dream Eater symbol on the upper half of it's body.
Majik Lapins were rabbit-like Dream Eaters that had long, large ears, a small pointy hat on it's head, three stubby feet, and the Nightmare Dream Eater symbol on it's body.
Peepsta Hoos appeared to be owl-like creatures with large ears, a small horn on it's head, three-clawed talons, and the Nightmare Dream Eater emblem in the middle of it's chest.
Devon jumps away from the Nightmares and summons his Keyblade: Soul Calibur into his right-hand as he gets into battle stance to fight the dark creatures. His two Spirits: Ryu Dragon and Tyranto Rex appeared next to his sides and stood alongside him.
Devon rushes forward at a Drak Quack with a sliding dash, going through it with a thrusting strike, and jumps up with a somersault, diving down and stabbing his crystal Keyblade into a Majik Lapin. Four Peepsta Hoos flies up and flap their wings, launching dark feathery shurikens at Devon. The young teen deflects the shurikens with his crystal Keyblade, then casts a Thundaga spell, raising Soul Calibur up above his head and summoning a cascade of thunderbolts to strike down on the Nightmares, vaporizing them into oblivion. Devon leaps over to the right, dodging a long vine that whips at him from a Woeflower on the left, and whirls toward it with a spinning slash with Soul Calibur wrapped in light, cutting down the dark creature. Another Woeflower standing next to Devon attacks him by spinning around like a propeller with it's thorny hands, but he jumps back and thrusts his left-hand out toward it, slowing the Woeflower down with a Slow spell. Coming back at the Nightmare, Devon knocks it up into the air with an uppercut strike, then leaps up with a backflip and sends it back down to the ground with a roundhouse kick.
The Ryu Dragon leaps up into the air and grabs a Peepsta Hoo in it's mouth. The dragon-like creature shakes it around for a bit before tossing it aside. A Majik Lapin flings itself forward at the Ryu Dragon using it's ears like a slingshot. The Spirit jumps back and dodges the Nightmare, then performs a somersault as it slams it's tail down on the dark creature. Turning to three Woeflowers on it's right, the Ryu Dragon breathes a stream of flames at the dark creatures, sending them ablaze. A Kooma Panda charges at the Ryu Dragon and stumbles forward to crush it with it's large belly, but the Spirit leaps up and dives back down, curled up in a ball with fire wrapped around it's body, smashing down on the bear-like Nightmare.
The Tyranto Rex takes a deep breath and unleashes a long stream of fire at four Drak Quacks, burning them to a crisp. With a mighty roar, the large dinosaur-like Spirit goes on the attack. The Tyranto Rex stomps it's right-foot down on a Majik Lapin, crushing it to dust, and grabs a Kooma Panda in it's jaws, shaking it around a bit. Three Woeflowers approached the Tyranto Rex from behind, but were swept away by a wide swoop of it's large tail. The Spirit soon tosses the Nightmare in it's mouth aside, sending it crashing into a Drak Quack and two Majik Lapins. Four Peepsta Hoos fly up to the dinosaur-like Spirit and approach it from the left. The Tyranto Rex turns to the owl-like Nightmares and lets out a loud, powerful roar, blowing them away with it's strong voice.
Devon charges at a group of Majik Lapins, Woeflowers, and Drak Quacks and dashes forward, thrusting a light-enveloped Soul Calibur at the dark creatures. He strikes through a Woeflower first, then goes through a Majik Lapin with another thrusting strike before moving onto the rest. Teleporting in-between each target in a flash of light, Devon cuts through three Majik Lapins, two Drak Quacks, and four Woeflowers.
Finally, the young teen turns to the last group of Dream Eaters, which consisted of a Kooma Panda, three Majik Lapins, three Drak Quacks, and two Woeflowers. Before they could do anything, Devon leaps high into the air and holds Soul Calibur behind his back, hovering above the Nightmares. Fire swirls around and into him until he glows with a red-orange fiery aura. With a somersault, he crashes down on the Kooma Panda, followed by a barrage of meteors which shoots down from the sky and smash down on the last remaining Nightmares.
Dobby had watched the entire fight from his hiding spot and was amazed. He had heard from his wizard family about a Keyblade Wielder who was friends with Harry Potter, and he was most anxious to meet him.
With the Dream Eaters vanquished, Devon de-summons his Keyblade and his two Spirits disappear in flashes of light. Just as everything was calm again, Devon heard some rustling in the brush behind him. He quickly turned around and faced the bushes, getting into his stance. He didn't know whether it was a Dream Eater or something else and he braced himself to face whatever was hiding underneath the foliage, ready to summon Soul Calibur if needed. Soon, the mysterious creature came out. It was Dobby. Upon seeing the small magical creature, Devon eased up and relaxed as he was a bit surprised by Dobby's appearance.
"Devon, the heroic Keyblade Wielder! So valiant and bold! Much has been told of your greatness, sire." Dobby says
"Uh, hello? Who are you?" Devon says
Dobby bows his head to the Keyblade Wielder, introducing himself.
"Dobby, sir. Dobby the house-elf. Such an honor it is to meet you, sir."
"House-elf?" Devon says
The young teen sits down on the grass to make himself comfortable as he got down to the small elf's level.
"I know I've heard of elves, but never a house-elf. So, you're like some magical creature?" Devon says
Dobby nods his head yes.
"Mmm-hmm. Dobby is an elf imbued with powerful magic. But as a house-elf, Dobby is bound to serve his wizard family forever until death." Dobby says
The Keyblade Wielder raises his right-eyebrow. He had no idea that Dobby was a servant.
"Serve? You mean you're a slave?" Devon asks
"Why, of course, sir. Dobby works as housekeeper for his family. Master's orders are the highest law among elves. It is the only purpose Dobby has." Dobby says
"But, Dobby, don't you ever want to be free? To live your own life?" Devon asks
"I-I would very much like to, sir, but..." Dobby says
Suddenly, Dobby gasps upon realizing what he had said.
"Oh! No, Dobby cannot! No, no, no!" Dobby says
Feeling the need to punish himself, Dobby grabs a nearby thick stick and whacks himself in the face, much to Devon's shock.
"Bad Dobby! Bad Dobby!" Dobby grunts
"Whoa, whoa! Hey, Dobby! Hey, hey, hey!" Devon says
Devon grabs the stick from Dobby and tosses it away to the right.
"Dobby, why'd you do that to yourself?" Devon asks
Dobby rests his right-hand on his head and sits ontop of a tree stump.
"Dobby apologizes, sir. Dobby had to punish himself." Dobby says
"Punish yourself? What for? You don't seem to be a bad person, Dobby. You didn't do anything wrong." Devon asks
"But Dobby did, sir. Dobby almost spoke ill of his wizard family." Dobby says
"Wait, if you serve a wizard family, then you must know about Hogwarts, right?" Devon asks
"Oh, yes, sir. Such a wonderful place it is, teaching many young wizards and witches." Dobby says
"Have you ever met any Keyblade Wielders?" Devon asks
"No. I haven't, but Dobby has heard much of their heroics, sir. How bravely they fought against the darkness. How friendly they were to many magical creatures. Dobby sees much of that in you, Devon, and his friend, Harry Potter." Dobby says
Devon's eyes widened when he heard Harry's name.
"Wait... You know Harry?" Devon asks
"Yes, sir. Which is exactly why Dobby had come." Dobby says
Dobby jumps down from the stump and beckoned Devon to come closer with his left-hand. The young teen stood up on his right-knee and leans over to the house-elf.
"Devon and Harry Potter have both braved so many dangers already. But Dobby has come to protect them, to warn them." Dobby says
"Warn us?" Devon asks feeling confused
"Yes. Devon and Harry Potter must not go back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry this year. There is an evil plot. A wicked plot to make things happen. Extremely terrible things. Darkness is coming to devour wizards, witches, and magical creatures alike!" Dobby says
"But what things? And who's plotting them?" Devon asks
Dobby shakes his head and takes hold of Devon's right-hand, concerned for his safety.
"Dobby cannot say, sir. He is forbidden to speak of it. It most horrible. Dobby only wants Devon and Harry Potter to be safe." Dobby says
Devon looks down at Dobby's small hands as they both held his and he shared a sympathetic expression. But since he was a Keyblade Wielder, he had to risk the danger. Whatever evil plot was occurring, he would be sure to put a stop to it. He wouldn't be surprised if it was Lord Voldemort, remembering his first encounter with him when he and Harry Potter faced him in the underground chambers of Hogwarts, or Teridax, the Dark Lord of the Shadows. Devon takes hold of Dobby's hand with his left-hand and looks at the house-elf straight in the eye.
"Dobby, I appreciate your concern, but as it is my duty as a Keyblade Wielder to protect the Universe, I can't turn away. Not while innocent lives are in danger. Whoever it is plotting against Hogwarts, me and Harry will stop it. I hope you'll understand." Devon says
The Keyblade Wielder pushes Dobby's hands back to him and rises back up on his feet. Now focused on getting back to Hogwarts, Devon runs down the hill while Dobby watches him go.
After walking for a few miles, Devon comes upon a farm-like area with a tall, crooked structure standing before him.
The building appeared to be a large stone pigpen, but extra rooms had been added here and there. It stood several stories high and was crooked, but it was held up with magic. The home had a small yard at the front of the house with a garage to the left and a chicken coop that housed chickens. A sign stood in the ground that read 'The Burrow' by the main entrance.
Devon walks up to the Burrow and looks over the house, feeling weirded out by it's appearance.
"How is this building even standing? Looks like it could fall over. Still, here's hoping there's someone here who can help me out." Devon says
Moving onto the property, Devon gently pushes open the gate to the front yard, being sure to close it so that the pigs don't get out. The young teen didn't want to trespass on someone else's land, but he needed help if he was to find Harry. And to do that, he had to find out where he was first. He walked calmly, yet cautiously over to the house, wondering if anyone had seen him approach the house.
"I hope no Farmer Joe comes out and shoots me for trespassing." Devon mutters
Stepping up to the front door, Devon looked through the windows on the side to see if anyone was inside the home, but he saw nothing, save for the furniture. He gave a couple knocks on the wooden door with his right-hand to make his presence known.
"Hello? Hello? Anyone home?" Devon says
The young teen waited several seconds for any response to his arrival, but nothing happened. It seemed as though the house was empty.
"Hmm... Maybe not." Devon says
Suddenly, there was a loud noise coming from around the side of the house, which immediately drew the Keyblade Wielder's attention. It sounded like a large crash. He steps down off the porch and runs over to right of the house, leaning his body out to the side.
"What the heck was that?" Devon asks
Curious as to what he had heard, Devon runs around the home and heads to the back of the property to investigate. He got the feeling that it was most likely trouble. Whether or not it was more Dream Eaters he did not know.
Behind the main house was a large, overgrown garden with a pond full of frogs and an orchard beyond that, which was surrounded by high trees and contained inside a paddock. A cornfield was located just outside the Burrow to the right of the property with small ponds and swamps. And to the left of the main property were hills and fields that surrounded the garden and orchard.
Arriving at the back of the Burrow, Devon looks around, searching for the source of the noise and wondering where it may have come from. And then, right before his eyes, a small creature emerges from a hole in the ground in a heap of earth. This was a Gnome.
A Gnome was a magical creature in the Wizarding World, approximately one feet tall with brown skin, disproportionately large potato-shaped heads, black eyes, hard, bony feet, and a mouth filled with razor sharp teeth.
Devon stared down at the gnome as it ran through the garden, making all sorts of mumbling noises. The young teen looked around and saw more gnomes in the area, feeding off worms and the vegetables, going through buckets wherever they were, causing havoc and creating a mess of the garden.
"Whatever these creatures are, they're tearing up this garden! Where are the people who own this place? Why isn't there anyone dealing with this?" Devon says
Devon stretches his right-hand out infront of him and summons Soul Calibur, swinging the crystal Keyblade over to his right-side.
"Well, whoever lives here, I'm sure they'll thank me for this. Time for some pest control." Devon says
Targeting the first gnome in his view, Devon runs over and swings his Keyblade with a right slash, sending the small critter flying through the air over the hedge in the garden. Another gnome was pulling carrots out of a patch in the ground until it stopped and looked up at Devon, who had Soul Calibur raised over his right-shoulder like a golf club. The gnome screams in panic and tries to run, but was soon sent flying as Devon swung his crystal Keyblade. Soaring through the air, the gnome flails around until it lands on the left-arm of a scarecrow.
"Nice." Devon says smiling
Turning to his right, Devon kicks a gnome with his right-foot like a football, sending it flying until it crashes head first into a haystack. The young teen aims Soul Calibur at a gnome, who had half it's body inside a metal bucket, and uses a Fire spell, shooting a fireball at the small creature. The gnome was digging for worms in the bucket when it suddenly froze. Soon, the creature jumped out of the bucket and screamed as it felt the searing flames on it's rear, and took off running into the field, disappearing within seconds.
The Keyblade Wielder turns to the rest of the gnomes as they ran about the garden, screaming and scrambling to get away with some even bumping into each other. Holding Soul Calibur out infront of him, Devon closed his eyes and called upon the wind. Branches in the surrounding trees began whipping back and forth as the wind in the air picked up speed. Soul Calibur glows brightly with it's light and silver streams of wind soon swirled around it. The same wind swirls around Devon, causing his clothes to flap and his hair to blow in different directions. Eventually, Devon opens his eyes and thrusts his shining crystal Keyblade forward, sending the wind towards the scattering gnomes, sucking them all up in a windy vortex. The gnomes all screamed as they were lifted off the ground and were carried off into the sky, vanishing into the distance.
With the pesky gnomes gone, Devon stands up straight and de-summons Soul Calibur, letting out a sigh.
"Huh... Never could stand pests." Devon says
Suddenly, an astonished voice spoke behind the Keyblade Wielder.
"Bloody hell!" A voice says
Devon's eyes widened in surprise when he heard that. There was only one wizard he knew who said that. Turning around to the right, Devon saw Ron Weasley, one of the Wizarding Trio who wore a plaid, checkered shirt and light blue trousers. Also with him was his two twin brothers, Fred and George Weasley, who were both wearing blue sweaters with the letters 'F' and 'G' to tell them apart. They were both happy and surprised when they saw the Keyblade Wielder standing before them.
"Devon!" Ron says
"Ron!" Devon says
With smiles on their faces, Devon and Ron run toward each other and within moments they embrace in a big hug.
"How did you get here?" Ron asks
Devon shrugged his shoulders.
"Hey, I pop up when you least expect it." Devon says
The two boys laughed as they were both happy to see each other.
"Heh, so much for our gnome problem." Ron says
"We saw you deal with those gnomes." Fred says
"Bloody brilliant, Devon." George says
"Gnomes? Is that what those things were?" Devon asks
Devon and the three Weasleys look around at the garden, gazing at the mess that the gnomes made. Heaps of earth were here and there. Cabbages were destroyed. Tomatoes were squashed. Carrots, radishes, and potatoes were strewn around. And buckets were turned over on their sides.
"They sure made a mess here." Devon says
"Yeah, but the gnomes always come back into our garden. Dad keeps them around cause he thinks they're funny." Ron says
"Your garden? So, this is where you live?" Devon asks
Ron nods his head and spreads his arms out, gesturing to his home.
"Devon, welcome to the Burrow." Ron says
The Weasley brothers show the Keyblade Wielder into their home, entering the kitchen through the back door. It was the first time Devon had ever been inside the home of a wizard family and he looks around in amazement, taking in every sight of the interior of the house.
It was cosy and lived in, with a jumbled and cluttered array of furniture and trappings.
The kitchen of the Burrow was the social centre of the Weasley family, located at the back of the house, and accessible from the garden.
The kitchen had a large wooden table with room enough for eight chairs. All the chairs that were present were mismatched with some being wooden chairs and others being cushioned chairs. There was a large fireplace in the room, and a clock with one hand. This clock featured daily reminders such as 'Time for tea', 'You're late' or 'Time to feed the chickens'. It appeared to be weight driven, had many swinging pendulums, and strikes the hour and quarters on its three bells. There was also several magical cookbooks located in the kitchen, stacked deep on top of the mantelpiece.
Next, there was the living room, which was cozy with a red sofa and armchairs. There was a large fireplace, a wooden wireless set, a huge wooden bookshelf, and a clock that, rather than telling the time, indicated the status of each member of the Weasley family. The clock was yellow and surrounded by a piece of parchment with a green background, and red text. Instead of numbers, there were various phrases such as 'Home,' 'School,' 'Work,' "Quidditch' 'Travelling,' 'Lost,' 'Dentist,' 'Hospital,' 'Prison,' and 'Mortal peril'. Instead of arms to tell the time, there were nine silver hands and small moving photographs on the hands along with names, one for each family member.
"This nice, Ron. Very nice home." Devon says
Ron smiles at the compliment.
"Thanks, Devon. Glad you like it." Ron says
As they walked through the living room, a female voice calls out to the boys from upstairs.
"Boys? Is the de-gnoming done already?" The voice asks
"Hey, Mum. Look who we found." Ron says
Molly Weasley descends down the wooden staircase of the house and looks over the railing to see her three boys standing in the room with Devon right up in the front.
"Mrs. Weasley!" Devon greets
Upon seeing the Keyblade Wielder again, a big smile came upon Molly's face. She remembered the last time she saw him was when he helped him and Harry to Platform 9 3/4, and she wondered when she would see him again. And here he was, standing in her home.
"Oh, Devon! How lovely it is to see you, dear!" Molly exclaims happily
Molly steps down and walks over to Devon, embracing him a warm hug. Devon smiles and returns the hug, wrapping his arms around the kind witch. The two soon pulled away from their hug.
"I received your sweater from last Christmas. It was a nice gift. Thank you." Devon says
"Oh, you're most welcome, sweetheart." Molly says patting Devon's left-shoulder
More footsteps are heard from the stairs and Ginny Weasley comes down, curious as to what was going on. A surprised and happy expression formed on her face when she saw the Keyblade Wielder.
"Devon!" Ginny says
Devon noticed the young girl as she came down to meet him and he greeted her with a wave of his right-hand.
"Hey, Ginny! You look nice." Devon says
Ginny giggled at the compliment.
"Thanks." Ginny says
Molly wraps her right-arm around Ginny and pats her daughter's left-shoulder with her other hand.
"Ginny is old enough now to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry this year. She's going to become our next witch in the family. Isn't that wonderful, Devon." Molly says
"Really?" Devon says
Devon turns to Ginny and looks at her with smile on his face.
"Ginny, that's great!" Devon says
Ginny smiled and she blushed a bit. Molly looks over at Ron, Fred, and George, wondering if they had finished with their chores.
"Oh, boys, did you de-gnome the yard like I asked?" Molly asks
"Oh, uh, I guess you can thank me for that, Mrs. Weasley. I happened to stumble upon the gnomes as they were tearing up the garden, but I sent them packing." Devon says scratching the back of his head with his right-hand
"It's true, mum. We saw the whole thing. It was brilliant. Devon sent 'em flying with his Keyblade." Ron says
"Really? Oh, thank you, Devon, dear." Molly says
"Ah, it was nothing. It was actually some good exercise for me." Devon says
"Anything I can get for you, Devon, dear? Some tea, perhaps?" Molly asks
Devon shook his head and kindly waves his right-hand.
"Oh, no thanks, Mrs. Weasley. I'm good." Devon says
Suddenly, the clock in the kitchen went off and it's three bells rang loudly. Mrs. Weasley went to go check and saw that the hand was pointing to 'Time to clean the house'.
"Oh, you'll have to excuse me, Devon. There's chores to be done. Do make yourself at home." Molly says
Molly looks over at Ginny.
"Ginny, dear, could you come help?" Molly asks
Ginny nods her head and the two ladies head back upstairs to begin cleaning the bedrooms. Devon went over to the kitchen table and took a seat with Ron, Fred, and George.
"So, Devon, what brings you around here?" Ron asks
"I was hoping to get back to Hogwarts, and find Harry. Have you heard from him lately?" Devon asks
"No. We've sent letters to him in Surrey all summer, but we haven't heard anything." Ron says
"Hmm... Well, no doubt it's the Dursleys. They're always being rough on him. They probably got their hands on his letters to keep him from going back to Hogwarts like they did last year." Devon says
"Well, I'd say we go get Harry out." Ron says
"A rescue? Alright. I'm on board. But how do we get to him?" Devon says
Ron, Fred, and George shared smirks with each other, then look back at Devon.
"We take the car." Fred and George say in unison
Devon raised his right-eyebrow when he heard this.
"You have a car?" Devon asks
That night after the metal bars had been installed on Harry's bedroom window, the wizard boy was asleep in his bed, but he soon woke up to the a strange sound. It sounded like the running engine of a car. Who would be out driving around at this time at night? Putting on his glasses, Harry gets up and looks out the window to see a light soaring across the night sky. Then, it turns and heads toward him, becoming a pair of lights, which he thought was strange. They were actually the headlights of a flying car as it came down and hovered outside his window.
The car was a light blue Ford Anglia 105E Deluxe with an enchantment spell that allowed it to fly, and a specially installed device called an Invisibility Booster, which could make the vehicle invisible. On the back was a license plate number that read 7990TD.
The flying car turns to the right, revealing Devon, Ron, Fred, and George inside. Fred was driving the car in the driver seat on the right, Ron sat in the passenger seat on the left, and Devon and George sat in the back seat.
"Hiya, Harry." Ron greets
"'Sup, Harry." Devon greets
Devon looks at the iron bars surrounding Harry's bedroom window.
"Wow. Looks like you're in quite the bind. Those Dursleys really don't want you going anywhere, huh?" Devon says
Harry was surprised and happy to see his friends again.
"Devon, Ron, Fred, George, what are you doing here?" Harry asks
"Rescuing you, of course. Now, come on. Get your trunk." Ron says
Harry nods his head and went to grab his trunk. First, he switches out of his blue-white striped pajamas and puts on a brown shirt, brown trousers, and black shoes. Putting his trunk onto his bed, he packs his clothes, his wand, and the rest of his things. Once he had everything he needed, he closes the trunk and turns to Devon and the Weasley brothers at the window. Ron takes a hook and connects it to the metal bars on the window.
"You'd better stand back." Ron says
Ron looks over at Fred and tells him to drive.
"Let's go." Ron says
Fred turns the steering wheel to the right and drives the car forward. The metal bars were pulled out and dropped onto the yard below, breaking open the window. The loud noise awoke the Dursleys as Vernon and Petunia sat up in their bed. With the way now open for Harry, the flying car backs up and it's back trunk opened up for the wizard boy to pack his stuff. Harry was about to place his trunk in the back of the car when he heard his Uncle Vernon's voice from the hallway outside his room.
"Potter!" Vernon shouts
Vernon and Petunia walk out of their bedroom and go over to Harry's bedroom door, which had three padded locks and latches on it. Dudley came out of his room also hearing the loud noise. Vernon fiddles with a large set of keys in his hand as he goes to unlock the door.
Harry moved fast to get his things packed into the car. He puts his luggage in the back of the car and shuts the trunk. Once that was done, Fred turns the car around so that the left passenger side was facing the window. Harry grabs Hedwig and carries her in her cage to the car. Devon reaches out from the back and takes the snow owl.
"Here. I got Hedwig." Devon says
"Come on, Harry." Ron says
Eventually, the door to Harry's room opens, causing the wizard boy to look back. The Dursleys held shocked expressions when they saw a flying car right outside their house. But more than that...
"Petunia, he's escaping!" Vernon exclaims
Harry goes to jump into the car, but Vernon runs and catches him by his left-leg. Ron grabs hold of Harry's right-arm, holding onto his best friend. Devon helps them out as he wraps his arm around Harry's. The three of them were now in a tug-o-war between Devon, Ron, and Vernon.
"Ah!" Harry exclaims
"Harry, I've got you!" Ron says
"I got you, Harry!" Devon says
"Come here!" Vernon says
"Let go of me!" Harry yells
"Oh, no, boy. You and that bloody pigeon aren't going anywhere!" Vernon says
"Get off!" Harry yells
"Drive!" Ron says
Fred puts his foot on the gas pedal and drives off.
"No, no, no, no! Aaaaah!" Vernon screams
Vernon falls out of the house and lands in the front yard down below ontop of some large bushes, which softened his fall. Petunia and Dudley screamed as they saw him fall over and run to the edge. They look down and saw Vernon flailing his arms and legs about in the bushes.
"Dad!" Dudley exclaims
Devon, Harry, and Ron saw this as they flew away and they laughed until Harry closes the door of the car. Vernon got up and watches in a stunned daze as the enchanted Ford Angelia flew off into the night sky.
"By the way, Harry, Happy Birthday." Ron says
Devon, who sat in-between Ron and George in the back seat, reaches up and places his right-hand on Harry's shoulder. Harry looks back at the Keyblade Wielder and smiles, happy to see him again. Having rescued Harry from the Dursleys, Devon, Ron, Fred, and George fly back to the Burrow, vanishing into the night as they leave Surrey.
Author's Note: And here's how you start Devon's next adventure with Harry Potter in the Chamber of Secrets. I know D-Dawg that you wanted Devon to arrive at the Forbidden Forest at Hogwarts like in the beginning, but rest assured, he'll catch up with Alura LightHeart. I have yet to find a good female voice reference for Alura to fit her kind, gentle personality. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it. So here, Devon meets Dobby, the house-elf, and gives him a warning not to go back to Hogwarts in fear of an evil plot. Of course, Devon continues on despite Dobby's warning and he arrives at the Burrow and meets the Weasley family at their home, helping de-gnome their garden. Let me know what you guys think. No flames please. Hope you guys like and don't forget to review!
