So 'real life' has been kicking my butt this week and I've been sick :( Big shout out to Maaike83 for her thoughts on this chapter and for sending Dr Arizona Robbins my way, unfortunately only in gif form, but they still helped.
Also thank you tumnus96 for your messages and shame about the result!
Really glad you liked the talk chapter and now we can move on to the fun part...date night!
Callie and Arizona were going on a date. A proper date. Out in public together for the first time and to say that Callie was nervous was the understatement of the year. Panicking after a restless night she had facetimed Jess who, assisted by her girlfriend Sanne, had helped Callie pick out an outfit.
All Callie knew was that she was spending most of the day outside and so needed something practical that made her look hot, but without seeming like she had tried too hard.
In the end they had settled on a pair of tight black jeans, a fitted denim shirt, which according to Jess made Callie's boobs look great and had to be worn with at least three buttons left undone at all times.
She had finished the outfit with a black leather jacket and a pair of gold hoop earrings . Sanne had suggested the brunette wear her hair up so she could have that wow moment half way through the date when she took it down.
"Oh is that your trick!" Jess had said jokingly to her girlfriend.
"Worked on you!" Sanne replied, smiling at the American.
"It sure did!" Jess replied, placing a small kiss on her girlfriend's cheek.
"Thanks guys" Callie had smiled down the camera." I don't know why I'm so nervous? This is after all our second first date!"
"Because you want it to go well" Jess smiled at her friend down the camera "they are good nerves Cal, and I betcha Arizona is feeling the same way!"
Arizona had arrived 20 mins early at the place she had asked Callie to meet her. To kill time she had grabbed a couple of coffees and was now nervously hopping from foot to foot, scanning the street for the American.
On their first date they had been in a strict lockdown, and so Arizona had had to be inventive, this time round they had a lot more options. Arizona wanted to show Callie some of London that she loved the most and had arranged for them to meet at the corner of London Bridge at 1pm
When she finally spotted Callie exiting the tube and heading her way the butterflies exploded inside her again. Giving the brunette a small nervous wave, she watched Callie's mouth break into a huge smile as she spotted the blonde on the other side of the road.
"Hey!" Arizona had said with a big dimpled smile as she was joined by the Latina who was looking hot.
"Hey you!" Callie said back as they exchanged a quick hug. "It's good to see you Arizona...I umm I've been super excited about today" the Latina said smiling at the blonde who was wearing a pair of navy jeans, a blue and white striped t-shirt and a navy blazer with a small red satchel bag over her body. "You look great. I love the blazer" Callie said smiling
"Thanks. Figured that seeing as I spend 90% of my life in tracksuits I should try and up my game up a bit." Arizona explained happy that Callie had liked the outfit that she had spent hours deciding on.
"well now I feel like a scruffbag!" Callie said looking down at her outfit
"Don't!" Arizona responded quickly "don't think that...you look...great...I like your…" Arizona paused long enough to make Callie look up at her "...shirt!" the blonde said with a mischievous glint in her eye.
Callie caught the blonde checking out her breasts and laughed as she felt her nerves start to fade.
"Here I got you a coffee. I hope I remembered how you like it?" Arizona said with a quick eyebrow wiggle as she handed her date the spare coffee cup she was holding.
Callie smiled and took a sip. Yes of course she had remembered "You remembered correctly" she cooed as the warm liquid slid down her throat. She hadn't slept that well the night before due to nervous excitement, so the coffee was a godsend.
Arizona felt a shiver down her spine as she watched Callie tip her head back and close her eyes momentarily as she took another swig of coffee. Arizona remembered more than just how Callie took her coffee. She remembered how sexy she was and she looked so good standing there in front of her, her bra peeping out slightly from the unbuttoned shirt.
Pull yourself together Robbins! Arizona screamed to herself and the next thing she knew she was babbling nervously.
"Did you know that in 1968 an American bought London Bridge for over $2 million and shipped it to the States?" Arizona asked out of the blue.
"What? Why would anyone do that?" Callie said, taking another sip of coffee.
"Well rumour has it that he thought he was buying Tower Bridge."
Arizona said as she pointed down the river towards the very ornate bridge that opened up to let tall ships through. London Bridge was just brick and was in fact falling down and due to be replaced.
"But they ended up with the wrong bridge. Anyway, the original London Bridge can now be found in Lake Havasu in….wait for it…. Arizona!" the blonde physio said with a nervous chuckle. Shit. Arizona was boring herself and dreaded to think what Callie must be thinking.
"Well I never." Callie said smiling back at the blonde who looked as nervous as she was feeling.
"Fancy something sweet to go with your coffee?" Arizona asked as she started walking towards Borough Market "do you like doughnuts?"
"I'm am American!" Callie had replied with a chuckle as she followed the blonde who was crossing the road "it's in our DNA to like doughnuts!"
Five minutes later and the two women were standing outside the Bread Ahead bakery with a doughnut each in their hands. Callie had wanted a glazed chocolate one, but the Brit had insisted they went traditional and had got two raspberry jam doughnuts..
"So you know the no lick challenge right?" Arizona said as she eyed up the doughnuts before turning to look at Callie "try and eat the doughnut without licking your lips."
"What?" Callie laughed at the challenge she had just been set.
"I swear it's harder than it sounds" Arizona warned the brunette who was giving her a suspicious look.
"Come on. Try and see how long you last. First one to lick their lips is the loser!"
"Bring it on." Callie said with a determined look on her face "countdown on One? Three. Two. One" the American counted as they both took a bite of their doughnuts.
They stood watching each other like hawks as they chewed and swallowed their first bites. Damn, Callie thought to herself how was this so hard? All she wanted to do right now was lick her sugar coated lips. She took a second bite and gave the blonde opposite her a hard stare. Those blue twinkling eyes taunting her as they chewed the doughnuts.
"Mmm tastes so good" Arizona said raising her eyebrow in a suggestive way which caused the American to start to choke on her mouthful. Callie's tongue slipped out of her mouth and licked her lips.
"You licked your lips!" Arizona yelled excitedly "You licked so you lost" she said in a crowing voice
"Errrr only because you made me choke!" Callie said in her defense.
"How did I make you choke?" Arizona asked innocently, like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth.
"I think you know how Arizona Robbins!" Callie said, swallowing the lump that had formed in her throat as she watched the blonde slowly run her tongue over her sugar coated bottom lip.
"You umm...you have a little…" Callie mumbled gesturing to the blonde's mouth to indicate that she had some jam on her mouth. Instinctively she stepped forward until there was hardly any space between them, slowly reaching up to brush her thumb softly against the edge of Arizona's mouth where the jam was.
Callie felt her heart rate increase as she stared back into those blue eyes and realised how much she wanted to feel those lips on hers again. How good it would be to be able to lick the sugar off of those soft pink lips. She also knew that it was way too soon for that and so took a step back and cleared the lump that had formed in her throat.
"But ummm now I know what the rules are, I demand a rematch!".
The blonde who had equally been lost in that moment chuckled "Sorry...no time, come on eat up".
They walked along the river whilst Arizona pointed out various landmarks, stopping to take some selfies outside the Tate Modern gallery where Arizona talked about some of her favourite exhibitions.
"I didn't know you were an art fan?" Callie said as they sat down on the ledge of the river bank, dangling their legs over the edge.
"Ahh well there are many things you don't know about me Calliope." she said, holding the brunette's gaze.
"Well I feel lucky that I get another chance to find those things out!" the brunette replied with a smile.
"Me too". Arizona said smiling back. She had forgotten how easy it felt to be around the American. The doughnut challenge had pushed away the nerves they had both been feeling, and things were getting back to how they used to be before Callie had left for the states.
"Sooo where are you living?" Arizona asked as she watched the boats float along the river.
"I'm back at the training ground whilst I find something. I...umm I'm actually looking for somewhere to buy"
Arizona looked over at the brunette in surprise "really?"
"Yeah really." Callie laughed "I know I don't have a good track record, but I mean it when I say i'm back. My badges are gonna take two years to complete and so I figured it would be good to put some roots down. As a player you move around so much, I'm actually really looking forward to it. You know, making a place of my own...decorating, gardening.."
Arizona laughed "gardening?" she said giving the American a 'really' look.
"Hey! What's so funny about me gardening?" Callie said, trying to keep a straight face.
"Everything!" the blonde replied, still laughing.
"Well you're not the only one with secret interests!" Callie said, raising an eyebrow in the blonde's direction and holding her gaze "but you are right...gardening isn't one of them!" the American said laughing at her own joke.
"I knew it!" Arizona joined in laughing along with Callie.
"Well if you need any help, you know, looking at places...i'm umm I don't mind helping." Arizona offered in a way that she hoped sounded casual. Truth was she was happy to have another reason to spend more time with the Latina.
"Thanks." Callie said softly "I might take you up on the offer"
"Great. I can help you, you know, spot the difference between artificial and real grass!"
"Ha ha! Very funny" Callie said as she took a playful swip at Arizona's arm causing the blonde to laugh some more.
"Ready for some food?" Arizona asked.
"Sure. What were you thinking?" Callie asked.
"There are some great food trucks round the corner so you can have whatever you want!".
30 minutes later and they were tucking into some Korean chicken having walked around all the food trucks numerous times.
"So what would be your death row meal? Arizona asked the brunette as they sipped on a couple of cocktails they had grabbed along with the food. "You know, starter, main and dessert?"
"Easy" Callie replied confidently "Onion rings and jalapeno poppers to start, Pizza for my main and chocolate ice cream for dessert".
"Seriously? That's the very last meal you would want before you die?"
"Yeah what's wrong with that?" Callie said getting defensive over her choices.
"It's like what a teenager would pick!" Arizona laughed
"Hey when you've played sport all your life and you have to watch your diet, shit like pizza and ice cream become the holy grail".
"Well I guess one benefit of my career ending early is that I got to eat what I wanted". Arizona said thoughtfully.
Callie held the blonde's gaze for a little longer than usual as they silently acknowledged the impact football had had on their lives "Fancy another cocktail?" Callie asked, feeling the need to change the subject.
"Are you trying to get me tipsy Torres?" the blonde replied with a cheeky smile.
"Tipsy! " Callie replied laughing "so English" as she pointed towards the bar "so is that a yes or a no?"
"Well if you are sticking around you'd better start getting used to our English ways!" Arizona teased the American.
"What... like not answering questions?" Callie said waving her empty cup in the blonde's face.
Arizona chuckled "OK...yes I'd love another cocktail, thank you, and I DO answer questions"
"Not really!" Callie yelled laughing over her shoulder as she headed over to the stall to get two more drinks.
"Fine!" Arizona yelled after the brunette "ask me what you want when you come back".
Once back with their drinks Callie sat back down and after taking a large sip she turned to the blonde
"OK, so you said I could ask you anything...so my question is….Why didn't you respond to my text?"
Arizona held Callie's gaze before nodding "that's a fair question." she composed her thoughts "I think I was still really upset at you." Arizona admitted "I mean I loved the photo, and I did consider responding, but I just didn't see the point. You chose to leave, and whilst I now understand why you made that decision, obviously I didn't at the time."
"I thought you'd maybe got back together with Alex" Callie said softly "I heard about her father passing away"
"That was never gonna happen. I told you that" Arizona replied surprised that Callie had thought she would go back to Alex.
"I know. I guess it was maybe easier for me to think that rather than the truth which was that I messed up... Badly!." Callie said as she looked out over the river avoiding Arizona's gaze.
The physio reached down and surprised the Callie by taking her hand.
"I think it's safe to say that we both probably could have handled things better, but how about we learn from that and move on?" Arizona said smiling at the brunette who was looking down at their hands.
"I like the sound of moving on" Callie said as she held the blonde's gaze.
They kept their hands together whilst they finished their drinks and chatted more, filling each other in on the eight months they had spent apart. Arizona eventually suggested they move on and Callie felt a wave of disappointment when the Brit let go of her hand as she stood up and pointed the way they were heading.
Callie swallowed a lump in her throat as she walked beside the blonde and decided to go for it. Without asking she reached down and took hold of Arizona's hand again.
The blonde stopped in her tracks and turned to look at Callie surprised by the move.
"Is this OK?" Callie asked nervously.
Arizona's dimples popped "of course it's OK!" she replied giving the Latina's hand a gentle squeeze as she led them along to the skatepark underneath the arches. Arizona smiled as she listened to the American explain the different moves an Ollie and Nollie drop, wall ride. It was all a foreign language to the Brit, but it was fun to see Callie get excited about something that had meant a lot to her in her childhood.
After 15 mins they continued their walk Callie spotted something out the corner of her eye that gave her an idea "So I know you're anti skiing and skateboarding…"
"Hey! I'm not anti it!" Arizona said smiling at the brunette's comments "...now you've retired you can do all the nollie drops or throw yourself down mountains as much as you want!" the blonde said with a dimpled smile.
"Oh right...So now I'm not a player, you don't care about my wellbeing?" Callie said sticking her bottom lip out whilst pretending to be offended.
"Hey! That's not what I said….but when you put it like that!" Arizona joked.
"So rude!" Callie responded with a chuckle "well is table tennis allowed now that I'm retired?" Callie asked as she nodded over to a table she had spotted.
"Ohhhh I love table tennis. . !" Arizona said excitedly as they headed over to the table, still holding hands.
What started out as a fun game of ping pong quickly turned into a serious match as their competitive natures kicked in. Pretty soon a small crowd had stopped to watch the battle, including a couple of Americans who had recognised Callie.
"Looks like someone has a fan club!" Arizona teased the brunette from across the table.
"What can I say. I'm loved all around the world!" Callie joked back.
In between shots they exchanged flirty comments with each other "Ohh that was a little heavy handed there Torres, have you lost your touch?" Arizona asked
"My touch is fine Robbins. I'm just warming up. In fact, it is pretty hot…"
Arizona's eyes widened as she watched the Latina unbutton another button on her shirt and bent down to serve, Arizona felt a throb between her legs as she caught a glimpse of a black lace bra and those perfect breasts.
Arizona's eyes were still fixed on Callie's chest when the ball came flying over the next onto her side of the table, completely missing the shot.
The American couple cheered and started chanting USA.
"Cheap move there Torres!" Arizona called out over the table
"Maybe...but it worked!" Callie winked over the table at the blonde who was still fuming at herself for missing the serve.
Arizona won the next two points to take the lead and some of the people that had stopped to watch the game started cheering on the blonde and Team GB.
"Well... look who has the upper hand now?" Arizona teased back over the table.
"Hmm well we both know it won't last long...we know how much you like it when I take...control!"
Arizona stopped for a moment and locked eyes with Callie as an image flashed before her of the American on top of her. The blonde felt her cheeks flush at the image. The physical attraction she was feeling towards Callie was off the scale. It always had been.
Callie took advantage of the fact that Arizona was distracted and smashed home the remaining points, winning the game. Arizona smiled as she stood by and watched Callie pose with the American tourists who had insisted on taking a selfie.
"Hey Arizona..quick get in here" Callie had said as she pulled the blonde into the selfie. She was laughing as she wrapped an arm around the physio's waist and smiled at the camera without a second thought.
Things were so different from before and Arizona loved Callie's confidence around her and how at ease she seemed. It was like a weight had been lifted from her shoulders.
After their exertions they were grabbed a cold beer as they walked back along the river and headed towards the final part of their date - outdoor cinema screening of The Greatest Showman. Arizona had remembered Callie singing along to the songs as she had made breakfast one day.
As they settled down onto a large beanbag Arizona pulled a blanket over their legs
"Comfy?" She asked smiling at Callie
"Mmm hmm" was all the brunette could manage as she tried to control her breathing as being so close to the Brit.
"Popcorn?"
"Honestly...could this date get any better?"' Callie replied and she took a handful of popcorn and popped some in her mouth.
"Hey it's not over yet!" Arizona responded with an eyebrow wiggle that did all sorts of things to the American.
Luckily Callie knew the film by heart as she hadn't really been following the action on the big screen. She had been too busy concentrating on the position of the blonde next to her. After 30 minutes and another glass of wine Callie's breath hitched as she felt Arizona's fingers brush against her thigh underneath the blanket. She pictured those fingers slipping in between her thighs and felt a strong throb below.
An hour into the film Callie felt Arizona's warm breath on her neck as the physio whispered "this is my favourite song." Callie turned and looked intently at her date. God she wanted to kiss the blonde so much. Blue eyes stared back at brown and without a word being exchanged, Callie knew Arizona felt the same way, knew she was as turned on by their physical closeness as she was. Arizona eventually broke their gaze and turned back at the screen, clearing her throat. She wanted to let Callie know she felt it as well, felt the amazing sexual connection and so gently moved her hand down underneath the blanket and placed it on the Latina's firm thigh where it stayed for the remainder of the movie.
At the end of the film they walked to the tube where they were catching different lines. As they stood outside the entrance Arizona reached down and took Callie's hand in hers.
"I've had a really great time" Arizona said, the nerves that had accompanied her at the start of the day suddenly returning.
"Me too" Callie smiled back "it was a lot of fun and I enjoyed finding new things out about you." Callie paused "would you err like to do it again? You know, go on another date?"
"Maybe" Arizona replied nonchalantly
"Maybe!" Called responded in alarm
"I'm kidding...I'm kidding" Arizona said holding her hands up laughing "I'd love to Calliope".
"That was mean!" Callie said, pretending to be hurt.
"I'm sorry…" Arizona said softly "here….let me make it up to you…" as she lent in and placed her lips on Callie's. It was the softest of kisses and as much as both of them wanted more, they were both cautious of rushing this.
After a few moments Arizon pulled her lips away "better?" She whispered softly.
"Much!" Callie replied "I can't wait for our next date" the Latina blurted out with a goofy smile on her face. "I promise I won't whoop your arse next time!" she added with a cheeky wink in reference to the table tennis result.
Arizona smiled and stepped closer and whispered sexily in Callie's ear "but what if that's what I want you to do?" before walking away, leaving the American melting on the spot.
Did you like it?
I loved the idea of the two of them being all competitive with each other whilst on the date and I hope you found this chapter fun. I'm still not 100%, but hopefully by the time I come to write date 2 I'll be back on my A game.
My team Spurs are in a cup final against a much better team on Sunday so I'm asking for all your positive vibes for a footballing miracle :)
Take care as ever.
