Chapter 39

"Rory, love, can I speak with you a minute?" Finn asked walking back into the kitchen where the women were still all sat laughing.

"Oh, no, not today mister. Today is a girly day. You have to speak in front of all of us," Lane said, she looked and sounded a bit drunk, she was drinking wine. Finn looked to see who else was drinking. He sighed with relief when he saw Mia with a glass, Janice also had a glass of wine. Rory and Lorelai were both not drinking though. Finn swallowed.

"It can wait," Finn said with a forced smile.

"No, no, spit it out," Lane insisted.

"Yes, come on Finn, you can't shock us anymore," Mia laughed. "You talk a lot when you're drunk, and you're drunk a lot."

"It's okay. It can wait," Finn insisted. Rory would have told him, right? He would be the first one she called and let him know that she thought she might be. And they'd been careful. Mostly. Damn it. He really was going to have to get better at that. He wasn't doing this every summer.

Rory smiled and stood, taking his hand and leading him to her room.

"You've got five minutes then I'm pulling out the hose!" Lorelai shouted and the woman all cackled.

"What's up?" Rory asked putting her arms around his neck.

"You know you can tell me anything right?" He asked wrapping his hands around her small waist.

"Yes..." Rory said with a small frown.

"So, have you? Got anything you need to tell me?" Finn asked.

"I don't think so... I love you? Are you feeling a bit uncared for? Because I do love you and we speak every night," Rory said on her way to panicking.

"No, no, it's fine love. I just saw something and wondered but it's fine," Finn said relieved.

"What did you see?" She asked.

"Erm... there's a pregnancy test in the bathroom, a positive one." Finn said hesitantly.

"Oh my god. Who's?" Rory gaped.

"I don't know love," Finn chuckled.

"Hey, I told you when I had that scare. You'd be the one I sent to get it," Rory said with a smile. "Oh my god. I wonder who's...?"

"Rory, Aus that's enough in there!" Lorelai shouted before opening the door.

"Mom!" Rory gasped.

"Rory!" Lorelai mocked. "You were warned."

"You're not drinking..." Rory said.

"Well neither are you!" Lorelai said defensively. "Oh, god, you're not... you know...?"

"No, I'm on my period. You're not... you know... are you?" Rory asked.

"Well... erm... actually..." Lorelai said with a very small smile.

"Mom!" Rory yelled pushing past Finn and throwing her arms around her neck. Together the Gilmore Girls jumped up and down and squealed.

"You can't tell anyone. I haven't told Luke yet." Lorelai smiled.

"It is Luke's, right?" Rory asked and Finn winced internally, you didn't ask that of a pregnant hormonal lady.

"Hey! Yes, it is! What do you take me for?" Lorelai protested.

"Well, they were calling you the woman of ill repute last week," Rory smirked.

"That was a town thing and you know it!" Lorelai said.

"Okay, Harlot!" Rory laughed.

"Hey, I wasn't the one making out with my boyfriend in her bedroom." Lorelai said.

"We weren't making out, tramp," Rory said.

"Hussy," Lorelai shot back.

"Trollop," Rory quipped.

"This is just getting ugly now ladies," Finn tried to break up the mother and daughter insults.

"Who are you calling ugly?" The women asked him together with raised eyebrows.

"That was totally cool." Rory giggled.

"Like we'd practiced it. Hey we should practice other things so we can freak people out." Lorelai said with her own laugh.

"You already freak people out enough. Now shouldn't we be joining the others?" Finn asked with a smirk.

"Are you going to call the baby Lorelai?" Rory asked happily.

"Yes, totally, there'd be no confusion at all." Her mom said seriously. Finn was only slightly worried she wasn't joking.

Rory stood next to her mom at the alter feeling like she was radiating happiness. Finally, they were here, her mom and Luke, getting the middle they deserved. Marriage, a baby, happiness. Rory stood up there with Mia, Sookie, Janice and April, Luke's daughter. Watching as her mom and her stepdad said I do.

She looked out at the congregation, her grandparents, her grandmother wiping away tears. She looked at Lane who was clutching Dave's hand tightly, tears in her eyes. She saw Paris, Doyle, Robert, Lanny, Colin, Phineas, Josh, Sophia, Babette, Patty and so, so many more. It was a testament to her mom and Luke that it was standing room only. Finally, and lastly Rory's eyes sought out Finn's. Finn was looking at her, he was smiling softly and he sent her a wink before watching the newly minted Mrs and Mr Danes.

Rory cheered louder than anyone as her mom and Luke kissed. It was official.

Dutifully she followed the bride and groom out for the traditional pictures that soon went haywire as Kirk was the photographer.

The afternoon was followed by dancing and laughter and her mom drinking sparkling water and cider out of champagne flutes so no one was the wiser.

It seemed everyone at the reception made a toast after Rory. Including Sophia, who said that the dress was very pretty but could she have cake now please. Sophia got a standing ovation and gales of laughter.

Instead of lots of tables there was one long table outside for everyone to sit around. Luke and Lorelai sat in the middle with April next to Luke and Lorelai's mom and dad sat next to her. Rory, Finn and the rest of the Morgan's sat opposite the newlywed couple. Often Rory or Lorelai would reach across the table and take the other one's hand. This was it; this was their new chapter and although it may have included other people. It was still them. It was still the Gilmore Girls, together and best friends, no matter what or who life put in their path.

"Mr Morgan! It's fantastic to see you! Were we expecting you?" The manager said smiling exclusively at Finn.

Rory tried not to groan. This had only happened once on their travels so far luckily, but it meant they didn't have anything to tell Josh or Phineas. The hotel would put their best foot forward and they would miss any problems. Still, it meant a couple of days where they didn't have to problem spot and instead could just relax and take in the sights. This was the last stop before they travelled back to Stars Hollow for a couple of days and then to Australia for three weeks before Finn started work and Rory went back to school. Travelling to six different countries in four weeks hadn't been as relaxing as either one had hoped. Though they'd made it fun and had enjoyed a long vacation in their own private bubble once more.

Finn checked them into the hotel, where they were automatically given an upgrade and offered complimentary meals in the restaurant. Rory wondered if they realised that even if they had paid for the meals then Finn would still be profiting from that in a roundabout way. It seemed odd to offer billionaires free meals.

They were shown into a huge suite which was lovely. Rory dropped her bag on the bed and sighed. It had been a long flight to Prague and they'd occupied that time well.

"Okay, we'll make our calls now love, quick shag then go for something to eat and take in the culture. Right?" Finn said stretching and pulling out his phone.

"When you talk like that it's just like poetry honey. So, so romantic." Rory laughed flopping on to the bed.

"Do I have to be more romantic again?" Finn sighed dramatically but a hint of a smile crossed his face.

"No Finn, don't change." Rory smiled softly at him, meaning the words.

"Well, alright then." Finn winked. "I'm calling Mia. You want to speak with her when I'm done?"

"Sure, I'm calling mom, want to speak with her?" Rory asked.

"Eh, nah, just tell her I said hey, she got really offended last time I spoke with her." Finn said.

"Well, you did ask her how fat she was now." Rory chuckled and pressed speed dial.

"Finally! I've been waiting on you all day!" Her mom answered the phone.

"I'm sorry." Rory said with a head shake.

"It's twins!" Her mom announced.

"What!? Oh my god! Really!" Rory said sitting up.

"Yes really, two babies. Just like my dream!" Lorelai said.

"I'm so happy for you!" Rory said bouncing.

"Yes, I'm thinking Ronnie and Reggie. They're gender neutral." Her mom said.

"And also, infamous gangsters." Rory added.

"Of course, they have to have something to aspire to." Her mom giggled.

"Say congratulations to Luke for me? When do you find out the sex, you are finding out the sex right?" Rory asked.

"Yes, we are, but Ronnie and Reggie have to cooperate. So hopefully next time. We'll see." Rory could hear her mom shuffling and a slurping sound.

"You're not drinking coffee, are you?" Rory asked, wise to her mom's ways.

"No, your imagining things it must be jet lag. You're in Prague, right? How's that?" Her mom asked quickly.

"We only just got here. The rooms nice, but then all the rooms were nice, except that one in Portugal." Rory gave a little shudder. They hadn't stayed the night.

"Oh, Luke's home. I have to let him know he can tell people now." Her mom said excitedly.

"You guys waited for me?" Rory asked.

"Of course, we did first born. Now go have fun with Aus, but not too much fun, Ronnie and Reggie don't need to be aunts or uncles before they're one." Her mom said.

"Not happening, don't worry. Okay, give Luke a big hug from me and I'll speak with you tomorrow." Rory said.

"Okay first spawn. Have fun." Her mom said ringing off.

"Mia, had to go." Finn said from the mini bar he was looking through. "Lee was doing something gross with a diaper."

"Mom's having twins!" Rory told him happily.

"Wow, that's... scary." Finn said. "And awesome, think of Halloween costume possibilities. Let me guess she's going to name them Bonnie and Clyde."

"Ronnie and Reggie." Rory corrected with a laugh.

"I was close." Finn shrugged pulling out a bottle of soda for her as he helped himself to a scotch. "Tell her congratulations for me tomorrow love?"

"Mmhh. Mr Morgan?" Rory asked taking off her t-shirt and pants.

"Yeah love?" Finn said still with his back to her.

"I think you mentioned something about a quickie?" Rory said, smiling as Finn whipped round to look at her. He dropped the scotch and walked over his smile wide and his eyes burning. Exploring could be done later.

"Only one more of these to go this summer." Rory tried to placate Finn who was in a bad mood about having to wear a tie again.

"Yeah, and I have to be in a tux for that one." He grumbled.

"You look very handsome in a tux and a suit in general. Very handsome." Rory tried again.

"You always think I look handsome love." Finn smirked.

"That is very true." Rory smiled back. "You can run in those shoes, right?"

"Run, why would I have to run?" Finn asked.

"From the fake wedding to the real wedding. There's fifty-eight seats and sixty-two Koreans." Rory explained.

"The fake... you do know you've explained nothing right?" Finn asked his mouth slightly agape.

"When everyone starts running grab my hand and make out like your Usain Bolt." Rory said.

"I love this town and am constantly scared by it in equal measure." Finn shook his head.

"Stars Hollow will do that to you." Rory chuckled.

"It was nice of your mom to do this but isn't it a bit weird for you?" Finn asked.

"I guess a bit. But we wouldn't have fit on my single bed and then you'd have been on the sofa or in the guest room, which meant that Mia, Lee and Colin would be in this room." Rory said. Her mom had gotten rid of her desk and put a bed big enough for two in her room. Rory had thought it was a nice gesture, especially as Luke had been totally against it.

"I still think it's weird that they spent half the summer here instead of the apartment or dads." Finn said.

"Well, your dad's not there and the apartment feels like you're not on summer break." Rory explained. Again.

"Yes, I know the theory. I just don't get it. Colin doesn't either by the way." Finn said.

"Okay, are you about ready, because I've got to go and help Lane get ready?" Rory said putting a coat of lip gloss on.

"Go, I'll head across with your mom, Luke, Mia and Colin. I seem to be watching you at the alter with different people a lot this summer too love." Finn chuckled.

/\\\/\\\

"I hate being in a monkey suit." Luke complained in the living room as Finn came through after making sure his shoes were tied tightly.

"Me too." Finn said. "Was Rory joking about having to run after the fake wedding?"

"Fake wedding?" Luke asked looking away from the mirror.

"I'm going with yes then." Finn chuckled.

"Okay, we're finally ready to face our ex's." Mia declared carrying through Lee who was also dressed in a tiny suit. Colin behind them in a matching suit to his sons.

While they were away Lee had started crawling, or shuffling more like but he was on the move. Finn thought his nephew was adorable and apparently took after his Uncle Finn for being a trouble maker. Finn would teach him everything that he knew when Lee was a little bit older.

"Ex's?" Finn asked confused, Colin had dated Lane for a while but that was cool, he thought and Mia was friends with Lane, hence the invite.

"Lane and Brian." Mia explained as though Finn was stupid.

"Ah, Brian. I'd forgot about him." Finn said.

"Yup, the guy who broke up with me by ghosting me." Mia said happily. "At least I have a new man and a baby. That helps my pride a little."

"Are we all ready? Can you tell I'm pregnant in this?" Lorelai came down the stairs, very obviously pregnant even though she was only three months along. The babies due date was Christmas. Christmas Eve to be precise.

"Yes." Mia, Colin and Finn said.

"You look absolutely radiant." Luke said more diplomatically.

"Good, so I definitely don't look like a prostitute then." Lorelai said happily putting on some flat shoes at the bottom of the stairs.

"What? Is this the re-enactment thing again? I could kill Taylor." Luke ranted.

"No, this is a Mrs Kim thing and hon, as good a shape as you are in and it is very, very good, I don't think you could take her. She's a Rottweiler." Lorelai said.

"Mrs Kim called you a prostitute?" Mia asked with a frown.

"No, not really. But I'm a certain age and until recently was unmarried, be prepared for me to call you husband a lot today by the way, and I dress the way I dress. Apparently, that makes me the Korean Lulu White." Lorelai said.

"Who?" Finn asked confused.

"No time Aus, we have to go. Copper Boom." Lorelai declared heading for the door.

"Someone needs to explain this Copper Boom thing to me." Colin said as they left the Crap Shack. "Mother and Mother Dearest say it a lot and I have no idea what it means."

"It just means quick, there's a whole story behind it from Rory's first morning at Yale that neither of them can remember properly." Mia explained handing over Lee to Finn then shaking out her arms.

/\\\/\\\

"That's what I want our wedding to be like." Rory said later that night in bed with Finn, she was very drunk having helped herself to lots of shots when the yummy bartenders got fired. Finn had stopped drinking when he saw how wasted she was getting.

"What, in Stars Hollow?" Finn asked pulling her onto his chest and stroking her hair.

"Yes. Or not. That bit doesn't matter. But fun! It was so much fun, the running and the two weddings and the dancing and the bar. And when mom ripped away Lane's dress, that was just fun. And doing shots with Lane. My Lane. She's married." Rory sighed happily.

"We'll set up an obstacle course for our guests to get to the reception love." Finn chuckled.

"Yes! That kind of fun! And it fits you. You're wacky, like a cartoon character and everyone would think it's you but it's not. It's us. Our master plan." Rory slurred and Finn saw her eyelids droop.

"I might be a cartoon character but you're a Disney princess. So, we need dwarfs and animals waiting on people. Maybe not dwarfs, that's politically incorrect now. But definitely the animals." Finn laughed.

"Ask Paris, she'll tell you, no birds have helped me get dressed in years." Rory said faintly before she was out.

Finn laid looking at the ceiling, a smile on his face as he followed her to sleep.

Rory smiled happily as she was once more stood in a bridesmaid's dress waiting for the doors to open for her to walk down the aisle. Mia was by her side, smiling so wide Rory thought that her cheeks must be hurting. Rory knew how she felt though, her main parent and step parent finally getting married. Finally getting their middle together. Rory held out her hand, taking Mia's and giving it a squeeze.

Lorelai was to be first down the aisle as the maid of honour, her long floaty purple dress highlighting her rapidly expanding bump prettily. Mia and Rory in shorter dresses would be following. This particular wedding was being held in Australia, in the Morgan Hotel in Brisbane, where the happy couple had first met.

Janice was waiting behind them all, Rory had never seen her happier. And she looked beautiful in a short, fifties style white dress covered in lace, her hair styled into curls and her nose ring in place. She looked beautiful, elegant and edgy, she looked like herself, rather than the society Janice she normally was at these events.

The music started and the doors opened wide. Lorelai glided down the aisle. Rory and Mia followed seconds later and Rory's heart skipped a beat as she saw Finn waiting at the altar with his father, Joshua and Lee. Rory smiled even wider as Finn's face lit up and his eyes popped ever so slightly.

It wasn't her wedding, and wouldn't be for a long while but she was walking down an aisle with Finn at the top. Her heart was beating harder and she felt like she was the one floating now.

Mia and Rory joined Lorelai and they looked towards the door way where Janice made her entrance.

The service was nice and elegant but with parts of humour that befitted the couple throughout.

Rory thought about how each wedding she'd been to this summer had special parts that were just the individual couples in them. Her mom and Luke had the carousel and the long table without too much formality. Lane and Dave had the music and the bar, the running across town, secrecy. Phineas and Janice had humour and in jokes in their vows that they'd written themselves.

Rory cheered for the couple as they were pronounced Mr and Mrs Morgan.

"You look stunning." Finn whispered in her ear as they followed the newlyweds down the aisle, Rory's arm through his.

"You look very handsome. A tux works very well for you." Rory whispered back, smiling up at him, trusting him not to let her walk into anything. Neither of them noticing a photographer taking their picture.

"Save me a dance tonight?" Finn asked.

"You wearing the shoes?" Rory said.

"Of course." Finn smirked.

"Then I suppose I could take a turn on the dance floor with you." Rory said with a chuckle.

/\\\/\\\

"Have a good day honey." Rory smiled at Finn handing him a thermos of coffee and his briefcase she'd brought him.

"Is there even anything in this?" Finn asked shaking the briefcase.

"Yes, pens, legal pads and a few other bits." Rory grinned. She'd put some of his favourite snacks in and an inspirational quote in a frame that would make him chuckle.

"You're a very good girlfriend and I feel very odd and domesticated. Kind of dirty." Finn said with a little frown.

"When you get home, we can have Chinese in bed, lots of sex then you can go out with Colin to the pub and get drunk. Better?" Rory laughed.

"Much thank you." Finn said bending down and giving her a long slow kiss.

"Have a good first day. I love you." Rory smiled at him, she knew he was nervous, despite knowing he was most likely going to be doing this since he could walk.

"Love you too kitten." Finn said walking out of the apartment they'd moved back into last week.

Paris would be back tomorrow with Pepper and Doyle, Rory couldn't wait. She'd really missed her dog. She had missed cuddles with him and taking him for walks.

Mia, Colin and Lee would be back in a couple of days too. Shopping week was next week and she had the whole day completely to herself that day.

She was going to look over her class list, lie out on the sofa and watch trashy TV and movies with huge amounts of food.

Rory was sat deciding if she wanted to take Russian literature or something slightly more challenging when her phone rang and the door buzzer went at the same time. She glanced at her phone seeing it was her mom she answered and started walking to the door.

"Hey, hold on a second, there's someone buzzing me." Rory said to her mom before answering the buzzer. "Hello?"

"Miss Gilmore, Mrs Emily Gilmore is here to see you and there's a delivery here for you as well." The security guard, Paul said.

"Thank you, can you send them up please?" Rory said, she wondered why her Grandma was here and what the delivery could be. She hadn't ordered any food yet.

"Mom, Grandma is here." Rory said into the phone.

"What, why?" Her mom said.

"I don't know." Rory said unlocking her front door. She knew she should probably change; she was in pyjamas having gotten dressed into them before Finn left, but she also knew then she'd have to keep her Grandmother waiting which was not the done thing of course.

"Okay, well call me back when she's gone." Her mom said.

"Yeah okay." Rory replied as there was a knock at the door. "Speak to you later."

"Bye kid."

Rory answered the door with a small polite smile.

She was greeted with the biggest bunch of flowers she had ever seen. There were sunflowers, tulips, lily's and other flowers that were beautiful but that she didn't know the name of.

"Wow." Rory said before her senses kicked in. "Thank you." She said taking the huge flowers off the delivery person who she was shocked to see was actually her Grandmother hidden behind the foliage.

"Rory, these are beautiful flowers. Very beautiful. From Finnegan I suppose?" Her grandma said.

"I don't know." Rory said honestly though she would bet all the money in her wallet that they were.

"Can I come in or are we going to be talking on your doorstep?" Emil said archly.

"Oh, yes, sorry Grandma, come in." Rory said stepping out of the way so her Grandma could come in. "Would you like a drink?"

"Yes, a tea would be lovely if you have it." Her grandmother said looking around the room critically.

"Of course, take a seat." Rory smiled taking the flowers into the kitchen area and opening the card.

Thanks for the presents love. Have a relaxing day. Love you.

Rory shook her head but smiled fondly. Nothing had changed. He still surprised her with gifts, like the charm he'd got her for her bracelet after Lee was born, with his birthstone on it. Or the new ugly sweater he'd brought her when her bunny sweater had started unravelling.

Quickly Rory put the flowers in a vase and made drinks for her Grandmother and herself.

"Here you are Grandma." Rory said putting the drinks down.

"You're still in your night clothes? It's almost lunchtime!" Her Grandmother said disapprovingly.

"I'm on my own today, I thought I'd have a lazy day, picking my classes and watching TV." Rory said honestly.

"Still, that's no need to be in your night clothes. Honestly. So, Finnegan has started work today then?" Emily said.

"Yes. He left a few hours ago." Rory said wondering how to ask nicely why her grandmother was visiting.

"How nice." Her Grandmother sniffed. "I wanted to speak with you about something."

"Of course, Grandma, is everything okay?" Rory asked putting her coffee down.

"Yes, everything is fine. I wanted to discuss with you your employment opportunities before you decide on your classes." Her Grandmother said.

"Oh?"

"Yes." Her grandma said simply. "Have you made any decision yet?"

"Oh, well. I think I wanted to lean more towards Marketing. At the moment I think I'd like to take up Janice's offer of an internship. I can learn all I can from Janice and decide if I want to carry on in that company or if I want to move on somewhere else." Rory said.

"Very sensible. I was... concerned that you would spurn the Morgan's offer." Emily seemed to relax a little.

"Oh, well I wasn't going to, no." Rory said confused.

"That is good news, of course its still a year away, things can change." Her grandma said sounding like she was talking more to herself than Rory now. "Will you be taking your Grandfather's class?" Emily nodded at her schedule she had started planning.

"Yes I am." Rory smiled glad to change the subject.

"He's very excited about it."
