Chapter 39.

(Harry POV)

Jack, Tosh and I were away towards an old building where there had been reports of music playing. Jack wanted to check it out so I went with. Had my Sonic, Phaser and a gun just in case. As we pulled up outside it.

Tosh was on the phone talking in Japanese.

I don't want to know so the Tardis didn't translate it for me.

"What was that all about?" I said.

"It's my Grandfather 88th birthday today," Tosh said.

"I thought you'd done this for me," Jack said.

"Jack," I said.

"88 is a joyous year for the Japanese," Tosh said. "I'm off to London to watch men throw Rice,"

"You can get that in the Balti after stop-tap," Jack said.

"Ok, down to business, What have we got," I said.

"The Ritz Dancehall," Tosh said. "It's be derelict since 1989 but someone's complained about hearing music, Music from the 1940s,"

"Shh!" Jack said. "Listen,"

"What," I said. Then I hear music too.

"You coming up?" Jack said.

Then Tosh and I walked up. And Catched up with Jack.

"Wow, Look at the Chandelier," Jack said. "No neon lights back then, Just dashing young soldiers and pretty young ladies, And as they danced, the girls would look into their partners eyes, smile softly and say," As Tosh was almost gone flying but I catched her.

"Jack, Mind my laptop," Tosh said.

"I was thinking more along the lines of, How long before you head off to war?" Jack said.

"That was before we met wasn't it," I said.

"Yeah," Jack said.

"What," Tosh said.

"Long story, Tosh," I said.

"Come on, There's nothing here but memories and dust," Jack said.

"Then Let's get back to the SUV and head for the Hab," I said.

Then we heard it again, As we headed up and saw people Dancing.

"The hell," I said.

"They look so real," Tosh said.

"They're not ghosts, it's a simple Temporal shift," Jack said. "And It's beautiful,"

"We should get back to the SUV," I said.

Then We started to headed out.

"Do call again," This Guy said as we left.

But Once we got out.

"It's night," Tosh said.

"What, Oh shit, Where is the SUV," I said.

"Has it been stolen?" Tosh said.

Then I looked at my Vortex which always have the current date and Time but it was wrong. "No, We have," I said.

"Harry's right look," Jack said as we saw a poster, a fresh as it was.

"It's no use it's dead, I can't get through to the Hab," Tosh said.

"What, Hold on," I said as I pulled out my phone and saw it was still working but, No bars. "Okay, This is universal roaming yet, There nothing,"

"What is Universal roaming," Tosh said.

"It should cut through all of this time straight back to our time," I said. "But it's not working,"

"Let's get back inside," Jack said. As we headed in.

"That's where we were when we crossed," I said.

"We really are in 1941," Tosh said. "What if we can't get back,"

"Flotsam and jetsam slips through all the time, we'll get back, Look on the bright side, Gives you one hell of an excuse for your party," Jack said.

"I have a life there, and they can't help us because I have the lastest readings in here, People are staring at us," Tosh said.

"We need to blend in," I said.

"It's easy for you to say," Tosh said.

"Done this more times than I can count," I said.

"I'm the only Asian here," Tosh said.

"Don't worry, Just stay next to me," I said.

"You're both with the captain," Jack said. "Water, please, A brandy,"

"A Whiskey too please, Bushmills," I said.

"I haven't seen you in here before," Someone said coming near Tosh.

Then he tried to use the way of buying the drinks for us. Then Tried to get Tosh.

"That's enough," I said.

"I'm only borrowing her, mate," He said.

"Maybe she doesn't want to be borrowed," I said.

"You want to make something of it," He said.

"You could always dance with him," I said.

As He pushed me.

"Ha, Ok, I'll let him go then," I said.

"Fine, I'll lead you follow," Jack said Pushing him back.

"Come on, Tosh," I said, Grabbing her hand as the guy came at Jack whacking him. "Jack, No,"

"Cut it out kiddo," This guy comes in front of us said. "Sorry about that, The men are a bit lively tonight It's last day of OTU Tomorrow, Apologise to the Men, George,"

"I was only dancing," George said.

"I think it was your fist he didn't like, Not your Foxtrot," He said.

"If you could even call it that," I said.

"I'm sorry," George said.

"It's ok, You barely got me," Jack said.

"I think the lady also deserves an apology," He said.

"I'm sorry," George said.

"Apology Accepted," Tosh said.

"Hey, Are you a volunteer too?" He said.

"No, My friend here invited me and My girlfriend here, Tosh," I said.

"Yeah," Jack said.

"I'm Captain," Both of them said.

"You go first," Jack said.

"I'm Captain Jack Harkness, 133rd Squadron," He said.

"I should be heading off," Jack said.

"Hey, I didn't Catch your names," He said.

"Toshiko Sato," Tosh said.

"Harry Evans," I said.

"Captain, James Harper, 71st," Jack said.

"71 St that's where I'm hoping to be posted, What's your poison?" He said.

"Maybe later, We are in a middle of something," I said.

"Sure," He said Leaving.

Then We headed.

"Why does that man have your name?" Tosh said. "I'm lost enough without you holding back on me,"

"It's not my name," Jack said. "It's his, I took his, But I didn't realise he was so hot,"

"Jack," I said.

"I know Too much," Jack said.

"Then Share," Tosh said.

"But why his' How long was this before we met," I said.

"Not long a month maybe," Jack said. "What in there,"

"I've got half the equation in here, The other half's back at the Hab," Tosh said. "If I can find some way of getting these figures back to base,"

"They can open the rift long enough for us to get through," I said.

"Then Let's go," Jack said.

"What," I said.

"I thought I heard my name," Tosh said.

"No one here, Come on Quick," Jack said.

"You to get on it.

"It work," Tosh said.

"Just take down everything you go in case it dies," I said.

"I'm not used to writing with these things," Tosh said.

"Don't press so hard," Jack said.

"Oh no, Can you read that," Tosh said.

"Plus 1 over 5 a sine 28 X," Jack said as it died.

"You got everything you need," I said.

"I just need the coordinates of the hall, So I can integrate them into the equation," Tosh said.

"Then we need to get it back to the Hab," I said.

"What are you doing in here?" Someone said. "Who are you?"

"Captain James Harper," Jack said.

"Harry Evans Toshiko Sato, Girlfriend and Mathematician," I said.

"I'm Bilis, The Manager," He said. "You're not in Full uniform Captain,"

"On leave," Jack said. "48 Hours,"

"That's an interesting Camera," Tosh said.

"It takes photographs instantly," Bilis said.

"I didn't know they could do that yet," Tosh said.

"And I didn't know they made an attache case out of metal," Bilis said.

"Field Testing it first," I said.

"Where did you get it," Bilis said.

"Classified," I said.

Then we left.

"Pearl Harbour Jack," Tosh said.

"Doesn't happen till the end of the year," I said.

"Grandad Stayed in London but he was persecuted, If I stay here, What will happen?" Tosh said.

"They'll have to go through us," I said.

"This period you look like you fit in," Tosh said. "Have you been here before,"

"Yeah," Jack said. "I can't explain But I served in the war in 1941, I was undercover, I needed a false Identify, so I took his name," Jack said.

"Who were you before you took his name?" Tosh said. "Why him?"

"It was convenient," Jack said.

"He dies soon doesn't he," I said.

"Tomorrow," Jack said.

Then Jack moved down.

"What was Jack when you met him?" Tosh said.

"He was a conman, He worked for this other group and one day they stole 2 weeks of his memories so he did that to get at them try to force them to get them back, That's when we met," I said.

"I've got what I need, I need a way to leave a message for the team on something that will last across time," Tosh said.

"The Camera," I said.

"I'm fine you carry one," Tosh said heading.

"I'll be back," I said Heading out.

Then There were sirens. Shit the bombing so I headed in and tried to find Tosh and Jack.

"TOSH!" I shouted.

"Harry" Tosh said as she came down.

"You okay?" I said.

"Yeah, Where's Jack," Tosh said.

"Toshiko, Harry," Jack said. "This way,"

"I didn't get the first part in the photo. The rest is outside," Tosh said.

"They'll find it and keep looking," I said.

"I've got to finish the message," Tosh said. "Pencil will fade, I need to find something else,"

Then I went over to her.

"How's it going," I said.

"Good for now," Tosh said.

"Are you using your blood," I said.

"Yes On thing which won't fade as quick," Tosh said.

Then The all clear sounds.

"What's that," Tosh said.

"The All clear," I said.

"I've finished the rest of the equation is hidden," Tosh said to Jack as we found him.

Then Tosh and I met up upstairs.

"What now?" Tosh said.

"We wait," I said. "They will get us back,"

"How did you do this," Tosh said.

"What?" I said.

"Time Travel," Tosh said.

"That's an Extremely long story, Not one like I like telling," I said.

"Something bad happened didn't it," Tosh said.

"Canary Wharf," I said.

Then We meet up with Jack.

"Tomorrow is their last training exercise, Just another day," Jack said. "They go out on a sortie, and are surprised by 2 formations of Messerschmitts, He destroys 3 of the enemy. His men listen to his whoops of joy over the radio, Then It all goes quiet, He can't bail out because his whole plane is on fire, But his men all make it back to safety,"

"He saved them," I said.

"Who were you," Tosh said.

"A conman, That's why I took his name, Falsified his records so it seemed he was still alive," Jack said.

"How did you end up in Torchwood?" Tosh said.

"Someone saved my life, Brought me back from death, And ever since then It's been like they're keeping me for something and I don't know what it is," Jack said.

"Who," Tosh said. Then I oved away. But I could still hear.

"His Mum, She saved me, Then When I found them again, I find out that she is Lost someplace and Harry may never see her again," Jack said. "It's killing him and I can see it. Sorry for dragging you into this,"

"It was my choice," Tosh said.

"I'll look after you, Both of you," Jack said. "But there's nothing I can do for him, That is one thing even Harry knows too,"

After a bit. There was this light. It was the rift. Opening for us.

"Come on," I said As we went through and outside where Gwen was and the SUV.

Then we headed back to the Hab and I went to the Tardis for the rest of the night.
