Chapter 39 – A special date
1 and 1/2 months later:
Luke came out of the Chosen Jewelry shop with a blue velvet box, caring the engagement ring he bought to Ines. They were in fact married a month and half ago in Endor by the Ewoks, but their public wedding will happen in a month and he had promise an engagement ring to her when he propose back then, and he had found one a few weeks after they moved to Coruscant. It's being a 1 and ½ month they moved to Coruscant and a lot happened during that time. He got a new prosthetic hand, since the old one was damage by one of the Jabba's hunters, but during battle he still wore the black gloves, just in case. A week later the Jedi Order had being approved by the new Senate, and he had to go to Assemble and pledge in front of the Senate that the new Jedi Order would protect the galaxy like the old one. Since then he had searching everything he could about the old Order in the Jedi Archives. In between he had finishing Ines training, who already had built her new lightsaber, and started training his sister, all that didn't give him much time to give it the ring to her properly. And then to complicated everything, a month after the Battle of Endor, a second battle appear in that same moon, and the new Alliance had to help, including him, Han and Chewie. Being away for 2 weeks was hard, knowing that Ines would be worried. In the end everything went well, and the day they returned, 4 days ago, was great.
So today was the perfect day to take her to a nice date. He already had reservations at Parsley Restaurant and then two tickets for the Opera. And in between he will give her the ring, that would fit perfectly with the wedding rings he already got.
He was about to met Ines in the Senate Office when he heard his name
"Hey Luke"
He tried to ignore the whispers around him as people passed by. He was starting to get used to the looks and comments every time he passed by on the streets. Everyone knew who he was, some of them treated him like a celebrity, which he didn't think it was fair since he didn't defeat the Empire alone, and he was not the one who killed the Emperor, it was his father, but only him and Ines knew since they were the only ones inside that Throne Room and the only ones who came out alive.
Seeing his friends he smiled
"Han! Chewie" he walked towards them.
The Wookie growled and pat Luke in the shoulder, making him laugh at that gesture.
"Wow, nice outfit, it bring back memories" Han said looking at Luke. Today he was wearing the same brown pants, black shirt and yellow jacket that he wore at the honor ceremony 4 years ago, after he destroyed the first Death Star in Yavin 4.
"Well I'm going out on a special date with my dear wife, so I think this was the right outfit."
Han nod and looked at the shop Luke just got out
"And I see you got a nice gift too"
Luke smirked at his friend
"I think I own her an engagement ring for more than a month" he said and taking the blue velvet box and opening he show the engagement ring to them
"Nice ring kid" Han told while Chewie growled in agreement.
"When I saw it, I knew it was perfect. It has the stones of our birth months and they are the same color of our lightsaber blades: green and blue, tied in a heart shape. How more perfect ring to give to the love of my life?" he smiled closing the box and putting in his jacket pocket.
"How is she lately? Better with the morning sickness?"
"Well much better actually. When she feel nauseous she drinks that miraculous drink that Chewie made to her and everything goes fine after that. After all she is almost reaching her second trimester, which means there is a relief on that"
"I see you get your knowledge in pregnancy"
Luke laughed.
"Wait until you be a father. You will want to learn everything too. Besides all we have in that apartment is books about pregnancy and babies. Thanks to Leia"
"How far is she?"
"3 ½ months. You know, today she was getting dress after taking a shower and I was looking at her and notice a little baby bump that it is only visible when she on profile and to people who knows her body perfectly, like me. My boy is already start to get visible to this world" Luke smile at the image. "But why are we keep talking about me? What are you two doing here?"
Han looked to Chewie who tilt his head
"Your sister asked to check the lowest levels of Coruscant"
Luke frown at that information. If Leia asked Han and Chewie to check the darkest part of the city, that meant she was suspicious of something.
"The lower levels? Something wrong?"
"The senate and especially Leia, is suspicious that there can be some illegal activity there, involving some empire followers" Han informed. "Maybe you can come with us."
Luke at the time
"I have the reservation for 1900 hours, so I have time. After all Ines is with Leia"
They started heading to the lower levels of the city. Those parts were always dark since the sun light never reach it, which was also easy for some illegal marketing. So of course those parts of the city would the prefect place if some followers of the empire would try to do something.
As they walked towards it Han asked Luke
"What about the Jedi? How is it going?"
"I have a lot to study and read. One of the things I found out was that the last order was forbidden attachments, like marriage"
Han looked at him
"Aren't you already breaking that code?"
"If the order I will found had the same code, yes. But it won't. I think that was one the many mistakes of the old order and one of the reasons, my father did what he did. Love is not a bad thing. Look at me and Ines. It was because of our love and the baby we made, that I never wanted to turn to the dark side. That is something that I will allow. But there are other things I want to know like how they vanish. There were many Jedi's across the galaxy and in one day they were purge. What happened to the padawans inside the Jedi Temple? Who kill them? The Stormtroopers? Or they had help. I want to know everything Han" Luke informed as they reached the places.
Indeed the place was very different from the higher levels of the city. It was the first time Luke was in there and clearly the looks he got were way different from the ones above. Once they glare at him and to the lightsaber on his waist, he knew he was not that welcome, but sadly for those people, he was not afraid of them
"What kind of business they do in this place?" He asked Han
"Black Market most of the time. Stuff that you can get in cheaper prices then above" Han informed looking around
"How do you know this stuff?"
Chewie growled making Han nod
"I was once a smuggler Luke, remember?"
As they passed a stand where an old lady, had a bunch of baskets with all kid of stuff, from herbs, leaves, Luke stopped when he recognize one of the herbs the lady had
"Hey look Reriokawa!"
"What?" Han asked
"It is a type of herb, that we on Tatooine use a lot for dangerous parasites. My aunt had a book of it and I remember this because of the warm type of shape. There was a child back in Tatooine that got some parasites that attacked her organs and they made a medicine of this herb and she was fine hours later. I thought I never see that again" he said, remembering his home planet and his aunt Beru who treated him a lot with the herbs of her little book. He missed her very much, and his Uncle Owen too.
"Luke, come on" Han called "There is nothing here for now. We better get upstairs and meet with Leia"
Luke nod and followed him, while the old Lady kept looking at him and watched him until he was gone.
Ines walk inside Leia's office. Today Luke told her to wear something nice cause they would have a date: going out for dinner and then they would go to the opera. Wearing a long black dress with silver embroidering and see through sleeves, with a long cleavage, the dress didn't allow to show her belly, but at 3 ½ months, she already had a very small baby bump. It was more visible when her belly was exposed and when she was on her side. So far only Luke noticed this that morning when she got out of the shower and was getting dress, and he passed his hand on her belly felling it under his palm, giving her that gorgeous smile that always made her heart skip a beat. She was relief that he was back home, just like Han and Chewie and everyone else from the second Battle of Endor.
The moment she entered in the room, she heard Leia saying:
"Oh please" and turn off a monitor
"What is it? Another proposal?" she laughed.
Somehow in the latest months, many men and even royalty kept asking Leia's hand in marriage, wanted to marry her, mostly as a political strategic, and Leia knew this.
"It is the third in a week. Who the hell they think I am? Do I have written dumb on forehead?"
"I can't see pretty well with the light in front of me" Ines laughed making Leia throw a ball made of paper at her. "Hey that is aggression towards a pregnant woman."
Leia shook her head but standing up she looked at her sister in law
"Wow, let me look at you. Twirl for me"
Ines twirl at her
"Like it?"
"Very. Where do you go dressing like that?"
"Apparently your brother as some plans for tonight"
"Fancy ones I see. Which speaking of plans, next week I already make an appointment at the Goodness brides shop, so we can finally buy your wedding dress. Your wedding is in a month and we need that dress asap."
Ines whiny at that. Going shopping with Leia was a nightmare, and she knew that since they were little back in Alderaan when Leia always dragged her to the shops in Alderaan and they stood there hours and hours and in the end she didn't buy anything, which always got Ines in a bad mood.
At the moment the guys entered in the room and she run to Luke wrapping her arms around him.
"Babe please save me."
Luke looked at her with a worry face. What happened?
"What is it?"
"Your twin sister wants to take me to a wedding dress shop next week to buy my wedding dress. Knowing her I will be there all day. Please tell me we have Jedi training, PLLEEEAAASSEEE!"
Luke started to laugh.
"Sweetheart don't scare me like that. For a moment I thought something had happened to you and our baby"
"It will happen. She will kidnap me all day"
Luke shook his head. He loved the fact that his wife and twin sister were already best friends since they were little.
Han nod but he looked at Leia
"So, any news?"
"Well we went there and it is dark place there. A lot of things that we better have an eye on it"
"I went there with them and the looks I got clearly they were not happy to see me" Luke informed which was a bad sign for Leia.
"I better talk to the other members of the senate to pay attention of those levels"
Luke agreed with her. Looking at the time he looked at Ines.
"Time to go?"
Ines nod and looked at him
"You look nice Mr Skywalker"
"So are you Mrs Skywalker" he said giving a quick kiss. "Well we are going. Anything you need to check the lower levels just call okay"
"Sure. Have fun" Leia and Han told them while Chewie growled waving.
Luke and Ines just had dinner in the Parsley Restaurant. Once they arrived and he told their last name, many heads turned and followed them to their table.
Ines was looking at Luke sitting in front of her.
"Okay let me think. It is not the anniversary of the day we first met, or our first kiss, or our first night, or even proposal and it is not our wedding anniversary. So why all of this, mister?
"Can I have a romantic night with my wife because I want?"
"Normally Skywalker, when you do something sweet for me, or you did something that will piss me off or you want something from me. Which one is it?"
Luke smile and leaned forward
"I didn't do anything bad. As for the thing I want from you, well I do want something from you but when we are alone in our bedroom?"
Ines smiled at him.
"Like we only do in the bedroom, right? Remember the day you arrived from Endor, we didn't have time to reach the bedroom cause someone was eager, so we did right in the living room couch"
"Yeah I was and so were you and you didn't complain. Actually I remembered you enjoyed it, many times actually" he winked at her
"It is not my fault you are so good at it" she winked back at him. She loved him so much. Sometimes she stands alone admiring him, asking how lucky she was for having him in her life.
"We better hurry cause the play starts in an hour" he said paying the dinner to the waiter and grabbing her hand they started to left the restaurant, when two kids got out of their tables and ran towards them
"Mr Skywalker" they both said
Luke and Ines stopped and looked at the kids. They were about 7 years old, one has black hair and brown eyes, while the other had green eyes and red hair. Ines smiled at them, imagining her baby boy at that age.
"Yes" Luke smiled to the kids
"Can we have your autograph please?" The red hair kid asked, handing a piece of paper at him.
Luke looked at Ines, who smile at him and then to the kids.
"Sure" he said kneeling in front of them. "What is your name?" he said grabbing the pen with his left hand
"Kino" the boy said and Luke signed the paper handle to the boy
"And you?"
"Davi"
Signing the paper too he gave to the boy, who smiled at him
"You know I want to be a pilot like you when I grow up" Davi said making Luke rub his black hair.
"I want to a Jedi like you" Kino said.
"How old are you two?" Luke asked them
"8" the boys said the same time
"Well Kino and Davi, first you need to listen to your parents and be good boys. Who knows maybe you will be what you want in the future. I'm sure I will see you two again" Luke said standing up and smiling to the boys.
"We will" Kino said with a big smile on his face.
Ines looked at Luke interacting with them. He would be a great father she thought taking her hand to her belly.
As the kids ran back to their parents, yelling to them
"Look Luke Skywalker gave us an autograph"
Ines looked at Luke as he grabbed her hand and they left the restaurant.
"Those kids are force sensitive"
"Yes they are." Luke said looking back to them.
"Well at least you already found two possible future students" she said.
"Yes" he said stopping and facing her "Alongside with this little one" he said touching her belly "If he wants it. I don't want our children to be Jedi because we are. They will choose their own path. If they want to learn the ways of the force, I will teach them. If they don't want it, I will love them the same way"
"I'm sure our little Ben will be proud to have a father like you" Ines said smiling
"Ben. So we going as plan and named our child Ben?" he asked
"It is fair, name him after the man that was responsible for his parents to meet. A person who was a great man and a mentor. I was even thinking to name him after two great Jedi Ben Anakin Skywalker"
Luke wrapped his arms around Ines.
"What did I do to deserve you?" he asked her
"Born" she replied as she pulling him into a kiss.
Pulling apart, Luke grabbed the little box from his jacket and opening, he said
"You kept asking why we are here tonight. I promised you, after the events 1 ½ month ago, back in Endor, when I asked you to marry me, that I would get an engagement ring. I know we are already married, but our second ceremony will be next month, and I want to give you this. I found it a month ago and I thought it was perfect"
Ines looked at ring and gasped
"Luke is beautiful"
"It has our birth stones: emerald and sapphire in a shape of a heart" he told her
"And both are the color of our lightsabers."
Taking the ring, he grabbed Ines left hand putting on her finger he looked at her
"Ines, will you marry me again next month?"
"Yes. A million times yes"
And they kiss one more time, showing how much they loved each other.
"Come on. Before we get late" he said and wrapping his right arm around her shoulder, they walked towards the Opera.
Luke already found two force sensitive kids. Do you guys think those kids will become his students? And what do you think of the name they choose to their child? And the second proposal Luke made to Ines? And what will be Luke's reaction when he finds out about the order 66 and what his own father did to the Padawans in the Jedi Temple.
