Bella quietly dragged Jacob into the shower with her after Charlie went to bed. They teased and kissed but refrained from anything else with Charlie in the house. Bella knew she tended to make a lot of noise. He would be pissed enough when he finally found out she was pregnant.
They dressed, had lunch together, and drove out to Sam's place. Emily was beaming from the doorway as she watched Jacob and Bella exit the truck together. She jogged over to hug them both and Jacob playfully kissed her cheek.
"Hey, sis," he said. "Where's Sam?"
"He should be here any time," Emily said, gesturing to follow her inside. She walked into the kitchen and pulled two of four pies from the oven.
This is why I wanted to talk to her in the first place, Bella thought. "Hey, Emily?"
"Yeah?" she asked, placing the pies on the island to cool.
"I have some ideas I'd like to go over with you when Sam gets here if that's okay," Bella said.
"Someone talking about me," Sam bellowed from the door. Bella spun to smile at Sam, who hugged her briefly before making his way over to kiss Emily. "Hey, Jake. Good to see you home in clothes, bro," Sam laughed.
"Yeah, it's weird. I kind of miss being naked already," Jacob laughed.
"Yeah," Sam barked out a laugh. "I remember coming home after not phasing back for a month. Clothes felt weird as hell for a while."
"So, Bella was just going to talk to us about some ideas," Emily said, leaning against the counter.
Bella blushed as the attention focused on her. "I was wondering how you felt about cooking for a living since we do it all the time anyway," she said to Emily. "You know we're going to have a house back behind the garage," Bella said. "I know you've said many times that it would be nice to have more room to cook in, and that's something I'd like as well. We're going to be neighbors, sort of."
"Spit it out, Bells," Emily teased her, grinning.
"What if we sell baked goods to the garage customers? I'd love to share some of the responsibilities with the pack meals, too. We could work together in my kitchen or here if you'd prefer. Your muffins could seriously make you some extra cash, Em," Bella said. "Maybe Jacob and I could even use a spare bedroom for a playroom for when everyone has kids so that we can all be in one place comfortably."
Sam and Jacob were both smirking at Bella, but Emily was beaming.
"Bella, I love feeding the guys but it really can be overwhelming. It makes the possibility of my having a full-time job next to impossible. My paintings sell online but I barely have time to paint anymore. The extra cash would be really helpful and sharing the responsibility of feeding these monsters would help us so much."
"You sound relieved," Sam chuckled.
"I am," Emily said, as she pulled the other pies from the oven and shut it off. "I've been wondering how we'd keep swinging this for a while. This is a great solution."
"So you're not upset by the idea," Bella asked her. "I was worried I'd be stepping on your toes."
"Bella, sweetheart, dance away," Emily said and chuckled. "I need a break."
Jacob was smiling at Bella, reaching over to thread his fingers through hers.
"I thought," he said grinning, "That you wanted to teach. Or be a writer?"
"I still want to do those things," Bella said. "But I'm only eighteen. I have time to make a career change later if I want to. These are solutions that we need now." Jacob grinned at her proudly.
"Hell of a girl, Jake," Sam said and chuckled.
"You don't have to tell me," Jacob said, winking. Bella was surprised to look up and see Emily wipe tears away quickly.
"Are you okay?" Bella asked her.
"Yeah," Emily chuckled. "I'm great. Good changes. My family is back together." Bella couldn't help but tear up as well.
"Jacob," Sam chuckled.
"Yep," Jake said and stood. He kissed Bella on top of her head and both men walked outside.
"That wasn't subtle at all," Bella said sarcastically.
"Subtle isn't Sam's forte," Emily chuckled.

The women started making lists of things they would need and plans for setting up a bakery area in the waiting room for the garage. Bella made plans to go talk to Rosalie and Emmett about the possible development. She wanted Emily to be there if she were going to be part of this decision. Sam was against the idea of Emily going with her to see Rose but eventually relented. He and Rose got along well and the alliance with the Cullens had strengthened a great deal. Jacob also wasn't thrilled with them going. Despite how much he fought it, he still felt like Edward was a possible threat. In the end, he told her to do what she needed to. He had no issues with anyone except Edward.
"Are you nervous?" Bella asked her as they approached the house. Emily's eyes were wide with wonder. Bella looked over the Cullen mansion and grinned. She'd once been overwhelmed by the magnificent house as well. Now she felt at home here and it was easy to take the beauty of the property for granted.
Bella hesitated as they walked to the front door. Edward was home and was playing his piano on the upstairs landing. She bit her bottom lip, unsure if they should go inside. His playing had always intrigued her.
Come on, Bella, she coaxed herself and opened the door. Emily nervously grabbed Bella's hand as they stepped inside. She did not let go. Bella squeezed Emily's hand reassuringly and led her toward the family room. The rest of the family was gathered around the room, some standing perfectly still as he played. Edward started another song, the tune melancholy. Rose shot Bella an apologetic smile as Bella and Emily sat down.

Bella was startled as Edward began to sing. His voice was pure heaven and haunting at the same time.

I still look at you with eyes that want you

When you move, you make my oceans move to

If I hear my name, I will run your way

Can we say that we love each other

Can we play like there ain't no other

If I hear my name, I will run your way

It's my desire that you feed

You know just what I need

You got power, power

You got power over me

I give my all now, can't you see?

Why won't you set me free?

You got power, power

You got power over me

I was lost until I found me in you

I saw a side of me that I was scared to

But now I hear my name and I'm running your way

All I feel as I get closer to you

Is the desire to move like you do

So now I hear my name and I'm running your way

If you're read now

If you're ready now

If you're ready now, I am ready now

Bella felt ill. Was he singing this song for her? Surely he wouldn't be that brazen with Emily here, too. Besides, he had respectfully allowed her to avoid him for weeks now. Bella looked at Emily, surprised to find her awestruck.
"That's Edward?" Emily asked and shook her head. "God damn, Bella. No wonder." Bella rolled her eyes, feigning disinterest. The smirk that Jasper shot her to let her know he knew exactly how much Edward's voice affected her. Bella glanced around the room as he continued to play. Each listened intently. Even as she was drawn back to his performance, she became aware of what was happening.
Music was one of his gifts. One he could use to manipulate. His piano playing alone pulled the attention of everyone around him. Bella thought of the lullaby he had written for her. She had listened to that cd at least a hundred times. It was part of the addiction he had created for her.
He knew she was coming by with Emily. Jacob had called.
What kind of fucking game are you playing, Edward?
Bella started to take deep breaths as her stomach rolled.
You can hear it too, can't you baby? Bella couldn't help but smirk, remembering the vision of Jacob holding their daughter's hand. She is definitely going to be her father's daughter, Bella thought. She was still getting sick any time Edward was nearby. She smirked, cupping her belly and vaguely wondering if her little girl would be a wolf someday.
If so, she is going to love her mean-mouthed Auntie Leah.
The sudden sensation of being poked startled her. Nothing was touching her, but she could feel it brushing against her skin.
"Jasper, quit," she whispered, and he burst out laughing.
"What? What's happening," Emily asked, grinning. All of her nervousness seemed to have gone. Jasper must have been sending her energy, too.
"Jasper," Bella said, pointing, "is an Empath. He can feel other people's energy and send them energy as well. Everyone, this is Sam's fiancee, Emily."
"Right on," Emily said to Jasper. "I know a Reiki master who can do that. Do you see spirits, too?"
Jasper chuckled. "No, ma'am," he said, letting his southern drawl slip. Bella could have sworn she actually heard Emily swoon.
We have to get out of here, or Sam is going to kill me.
Bella stood and grabbed Emily's hand. "I think we need to get some air," she said and pulled Emily toward the front door. Emily sat on the front steps while Bella paced until her nausea went away. It was a few minutes before Rosalie and Emmett walked outside. Emmett approached Bella slowly, holding his arms out.
"You're not gonna barf on me, are ya mama?" he asked, grinning. Bella hugged him. He laughed when she shivered and pulled away.
"Wuss," Emmett teased her.
"I love you too," Bella said and hip-checked her big brother.
Rose introduced herself and held her hand out to Emily. Emily shook her hand and flinched, surprised by her cold hand. Rose retained her perfect smile, though Bella could see that it made her sad. Rose would carry around hot cups of coffee to keep her hands warm. She often said she missed being warm.
"It's kind of nice to put faces to the names," Emily said.
"I bet so," Rose said. "I'm sure Paul has plenty to say, too." Emily laughed.
"I think Rose has taken a shine to Paul," Emmett teased.
"He's ornery but easy to love," Emily said. "Most of the pack are."
"They're good guys," Rose said earnestly. "They fought with us to protect my sister, and I could never ask for more than that." Bella beamed at Rosalie. It was the first time she'd called her a sister.
"So, what did you need to talk about," Emmett asked, changing what threatened to become an emotional conversation.

Bella and Emily broke down their ideas for Emmett and Rose. They were enthusiastic about the ideas, taking the girls back inside to look over the blueprints with Esme. Edward was nowhere to be seen, hidden alone in his corner.
The girls finally left when Emily realized she was running behind on things that needed to be done at home. She was animatedly asking Bella questions about the Cullens as they drove back to La Push.
"Bella," Emily said as they neared her driveway, "I have to say, I'm glad I went. I know what they are, but I can't help but like them." Bella nodded. After all, she understood better than anyone how easy it was to love that family. "Why are they doing all of this for everyone, though?"
"Supposedly it's partially for my sake, which I don't doubt. They also really like Jacob and the pack. They know that their presence has caused problems and they want to help make up for that. They are family to me. Well, except Edward, obviously." Bella said.
"He is absolutely haunting," Emily said.
"His family would probably say macabre or sullen," Bella chuckled.
"Jealous, pouty, secret musician, supernatural. He's a redhead from a clan. Jacob's a red wolf from a pack. And you say you don't have a type, Bella Swan," Emily teased. Bella groaned as Emily hopped out of the truck laughing.
I seriously hope Jacob didn't hear that she thought as she followed Emily inside.

(JPOV)

Jacob did hear it.
He tried like hell to not let it bother him, too. Bella and Emily had come inside reeking of leech. After they told them about their discussion with Rose and Emmett, Sam sent Emily to grab a shower. Jacob and Bella left to visit Billy.
Had he known what he was wandering into, he would have driven to Charlie's instead. He and Bella both gaped openly at the scene in Billy's front yard as they pulled into the drive.
Rachel and Paul were fighting.
Well, Rachel was trying to fight Paul. Straight-up assaulting, more like.
Paul was walking away from her, shaking. Rachel followed, yelling as she paused to pull off her shoe.
"Rachel!" Jacob yelled as she threw her shoe at Paul. It barely missed his head as he ducked out of the way. "What the hell is going on?"
Rachel spun on Jacob and started stomping toward him.
Shit. Bad idea.
"You!" she screamed at him, "You have some fucking explaining to do. And you," she said, pointing at Paul, "get the fuck out of my house."
Jacob leaned against Bella's truck, scowling at his sister.
"What the hell did he even do, Rachel?" Jacob asked.
"He is a liar," she yelled, "And, you? Where the hell have you been?"
Jacob scoffed. "I had some shit to take care of," he said, "As I'm sure you were already told."
"Oh, I'm sure," Rachel said, glancing at Bella angrily.
Bella glared back and asked, "Is there a problem?"
Shit. Jacob knew that tone.
"Rach," Paul said cautiously. "Bella ain't the one, baby, I'm telling you,"
"You're a fucking problem," Rachel said, ignoring him.
"You're the one assaulting your boyfriend in the front yard, and I'm a problem?" Bella shot Jacob a look as if to say, Is this bitch for real? Jacob snorted.
"My brother is out running around all hours of the day and night. He doesn't go to school. He has no goddamned goals. His attitude is shit, and now I hear he is going to be a dad at seventeen. So yeah, I'd say you're a fucking problem."
Bella smirked at Paul. "You guys still haven't told her, have you?"
"Told me what?" Rachel hissed. "Why Jacob and Paul disappear at the drop of a hat, and everyone lies through their goddamned teeth around here?"
"Yeah, actually," Bella said, and Jacob chuckled.
"This is not fucking funny, Jacob Ephriam," Rachel yelled at him.
Jacob tried to retain his calm as he stood up straight and walked toward Rachel. Every single time he'd seen her since she moved home, she had been on his ass. The stern look on her face vanished as he towered over her, towing Bella behind him.
"Let's get one thing straight, Rachel," he said. "You aren't my mother. You're barely my sister. You haven't known me since you walked out when I was twelve, so quit acting as if you have ever fucking cared about my decisions."
Rachel was trembling as Jacob pulled Bella behind him toward the house.
"What the hell," Rachel snapped. Jacob turned to find Bella facing Rachel, again reaching for her hand.
"Come on, we're going to have a chat," Bella said firmly.
"You don't need to be grabbing my hand and shit," Rachel snapped at her. Bella stared Rachel hard in the face, oblivious as ever to the fact that the person she was challenging could probably snap her in half. Bella snatched at Rachel's hand again.
"Everybody holds fucking hands around here, Rachel. Get over it," Bella said and tugged his speechless sister firmly toward the front door. Jacob and Paul both looked at each other in shock.
"Some things never change, I guess," Jacob said as he gestured toward the door.
"She will always keep you guessing, dude," Paul said.
"You know you are going to have the same problem with Rachel, right," Jacob asked, chuckling.
"I am well aware already," Paul said seriously, "Or did you not see her throwing shit at my head?"
"Wait, wait," Jacob said, grabbing Paul by the shoulder before he could open the door. "What set her off tonight anyway?"
"Who? Rach? You, baby daddy," Paul said, laughing. Jacob huffed.
"Did my dad tell her?" Jacob smirked. Bella was right. He was a gossipy old bird.
"Dude, he could not stop crying. That is probably going to be the most spoiled kid on the damn planet."
Jacob opened the door for Paul, shaking his head. When they stepped inside the house, Rachel and Bella sat holding hands at the kitchen table, sobbing together.
Both men tried to hide their amusement.
"It's been like two minutes. What could they have already talked about?" Paul asked, laughing.
"One day home, Paul," Jacob said and chuckled. "One day and the whole thing has been nuts."
"Welcome back, buddy."
