A/N: since I think that I was grasping at straws on Game of Life, I decided to document the supposed events that can support this pairing.
Chapter 3: Life with you, but without you [part 17]
For the following 4 and half decades of her life, she had lived as an unseated, and unmotivated shinigami.
One whose bound by a curse of killing a very much loved and missed comrade, and a reputation as Kuchiki princess to uphold.
Like a doll.
Her life is devoid of meaning.
And as she leave for her first solo mission to the real world, she had only dreaded one thing.
Not informing Byakuya about her month long mission.
But she believes that he does not care about her anyway, what is a few days of separation compared to decades of being ignored and feeling worthless.

That day, Renji Abarai is promoted by Byakuya, as his vice captain.
A helping hand of sorts, to the person Rukia had cared so much.
Hoping that Abarai would be able to bring back the once cheerful Rukia that he knew.
In this way, his learning to let go of her. Seeing as his love had only suffocated her away.
Because no matter how much he wants her as his, the benefit is less than the troubles it will cost them.
If he was only just Byakuya, and she's just Rukia… he can pursue her fiercely
But his a logical man.
And he dislike the odds. And the problems would be heavier on Rukia, assuming she wants to be with him, as well.
And after ascertaining that she only sees him as brother…
It's time to move on.
And remarry, as the clan had demanded for so long.
For this love will be going nowhere at any rate.
