Good Morning, my dears! Welcome back to Lockdown! I love how many of you were cracking up over Bella yesterday. While I've never brought a cleaver out into the woods, I can say I never go hiking without some sort of weapon, lol. Okay, let's see what Edward is up to!
Thank you to Fran S. Sunflower & DaniDarlingxx.
Day 7: March 19, 2020
Edward
21:56 GMT
Aberdeen, Scotland
My phone rings, and I frown when I see it's Alice. "Hey," I say, picking it up.
"The borders are closing," she gasps.
"What?"
She's speaking so fast and frantically that I can't make out what she's saying. There is a shuffle on the line, and then Alice is gone. I sit up, frowning.
"Edward?"
I know Jasper's voice because I've spoken to him on video calls and shit before. "Jasper, is she okay? What's going on?"
"Darlin' breathe," he whispers away from the phone. "We just heard the international borders may close soon," he says into the phone. "I think Alice is trying to figure out what that means. If you'll be able to get home after…" he pauses, and I feel my stomach drop.
Shit.
I have to go home. I can't stay here, not if the borders are closing. Sure, I'm safe out here, but I'd never forgive myself if I was stuck in Europe, unable to get home during a pandemic, and my family needed me.
"I'm buying a ticket now," I whisper, grabbing my laptop. Jasper lets out a breath as I pull up flights to Chicago. I pause in my search, frowning. "Hey, Jasper?"
"Yeah?"
"How much space do you guys have at the house?" There are many reasons not to go home to be with my parents. I love them, obviously, but Dad's at an increased risk as it is, and I don't want to be stuck being smothered by my overly anxious mom. If I have to get stuck with someone, I'd rather it be with people my age. I know Jasper has moved in with Alice recently. I wonder if they'd be open to one more.
"Edward, come to LA!" Alice says, apparently ripping the phone from Jasper's grasp. "We have a room, and it'll be way better for you than staying with Mom and Dad."
"You're sure?" I ask, hesitating over my keyboard.
"We have space," she says. I can hear someone in the background, but I don't know what they're saying.
"All right, Ali. I'm booking my flight now." She stays on the line with me as I find a flight. There is one that leaves tomorrow morning. I glance around my room. I really don't have that much shit. I can be packed in a single night. I book it. "I'm emailing you my flight. I'll be in tomorrow."
She lets out a long breath. "Good. We'll be ready."
I bite my lip. "You're sure about this, Ali?"
She snorts. "Yes, Edward. I'll see you tomorrow."
It's a strange thought. "Tomorrow," I agree.
We hang up, and I turn to my room. Right, I have shit to do. Grabbing my bottle of scotch off my desk, I take a long swig before I start racing around, packing up my life.
*covers ears*
let's hear it!
Edward is coming to LA. Now, I'm sure a few people will question his decision, but he's 25, and honestly, if I'd had a chance to move in with people my age last year, I might have taken it. Especially if I was moving in with a bunch of college students that all were going through something similar to me.
Edward's scotch reaction was 100% me as well. I got the call, booked the flight, then downed half a bottle of scotch while I packed up my life. Slept for 4 hours, woke up (probably still drunk) and hit the town to return books to the library and then I was out of there. It was... rough.
So excited to hear what you're all thinking!
