It had been a week since Wendy had appeared and demanded a DNA test and had told Kai that no matter what he did, she and Morro would be in the baby's life, whether he liked it or not, leaving Kai distraught. They had managed to issue Morro with a no-contact order so now he couldn't send any more messages to Kai, but so far they hadn't managed to secure a restraining order against Wendy. They had tried, but the judge they had spoken to said he didn't want to get involved in a small 'family issue'.

Kai groaned as he vigorously rubbed a towel through the wet rat's nest he called hair after he had spent almost two hours in the boiling hot shower.

His boyfriends had been whispering about something and had been leaving the apartment for hours at a time. It was really worrying for Kai. He was scared something was wrong and that they might be having second thoughts about moving with him away from Ninjago City. When he left his room, he was shocked to see Cole, Jay, Nya, and Skylor waiting for him in the living.

"What's going on?" He demanded. All four of them shared nervous looks before Skylor finally took charge and cleared her throat.

"Morro Ren was found unconscious in his cell late a couple of days ago." She said and Kai's eyes widened in horror. "Apparently a few other inmates attacked him and did some serious damage before the guards could intervene."

"Why did they attack him?"

"It was all Chen's doing," Nya growled. "When word started to spread around the prison about how he was in possession of child pornography he told everyone that it was Morro who supplied him with the porn and the inmates didn't take kindly to the news that they had a child molester in their presence."

"He's been in hospital with heavy police presence all night," Jay added.

"All night?" Kai gasped. "This is bad isn't it?"

"We don't know all the details yet," Cole replied. "But we do know that Wendy's blaming us for her son's attack."

"WHAT?! WHY?!"

"Apparently we've been making threats against her son and now she believes that we somehow arranged for Morro to be murdered in prison." Jay frowned, almost wishing they had ordered the hit then Morro wouldn't be around to hurt them anymore.

"So what's happening now?" Kai asked in fear.

"They've already questioned us and we've been released and suspended from duty pending further investigation," Cole replied. "Zane's still in questioning."

"At least they haven't charged you." Skylor offered weakly but Cole scoffed.

"Not yet, their still waiting to interview Morro."

"How is he?" Kai reluctantly asked, not sure which answer he wanted to hear.

"He's still in intensive care, it's not looking good." Skylor sighed just as Zane walked through the door, looking like he hadn't had a decent night's sleep.

"I've been trying to call you!" Jay exclaimed. "How did it go?"

"There's no news, everything's been put on hold until Morro gives a statement," Zane replied as he collapsed on the couch in between the two girls.

"Well, when's that gonna be?" Nya asked impatiently.

"The police are with him now at the hospital."

"So he's okay then?" Kai asked, sounding almost disappointed.

"We would have been informed if he wasn't," Zane reassured him.

"He deserves to be in hospital, shame it's not the morgue." Nya spat and no one made an effort to scold her.

"You okay?" Cole suddenly asked when he saw the sad, almost remorseful look on the brunette's face.

"I thought I did want him dead, even said it to his face once when he was drunk at the club." He replied, looking guilty for wishing someone dead.

"You want justice, that's all, same as the rest of us." Jay tried to comfort him, but Kai shook his head.

"But that's not justice! It's just making a bad situation even worse, and when I heard about Morro lying on the ground unconscious, I realized that I wanted him to live." He admitted and the others stared at him in shock. "I want him to live with the guilt of what he did to me."

"What guilt?" Nya scoffed.

"He's in denial now, but it'll catch up with him eventually, and when it does he's going to have to spend every single second rotting in that cell, surrounded by people who are just as bad as him, and since now most of the inmates think he assaulted kids, he's gonna be spending it living in fear, just like what he did to me and countless others." Kai spat with more venom and anger than anyone had heard in his voice. Before anyone could comment on this, the buzzer by the door alerted everyone that someone was downstairs, wanting to come up.

Reluctantly, Jay buzzed them up and a few minutes later there was a loud knock on the door.

Cole answered and everyone relaxed when Lloyd stepped into the apartment. The blond agent's emerald eyes zeroed in on Kai, who visibly flinched.

"I take it Morro's given his statement?" Zane asked, removing Lloyd's attention from Kai.

"No, not yet, we just spoke to his doctor and Morro's still in a coma," Lloyd replied. "If he does wake up and give a statement, we'll call you in for further questioning."

"What do you mean 'if'?" Jay asked.

"Given his injuries, there's a chance he might not regain consciousness, I'll warn you that you should prepare yourselves." He replied and everyone shared worried looks at this news. "If Morro's condition does deteriorate you could be charged with an accessory to murder." He added before leaving. After a few minutes, Zane and Cole left to return to their own homes and Jay had a meeting with the real estate agent, leaving Kai and the girls home alone.

His mind racing from the news, Kai decided he would try and have a quick nap, leaving Skylor and Nya alone in the living room.

Skylor hoped that they could have a normal girl talk, but quickly realized that that wasn't going to happen.

"What's wrong now?" She groaned when she saw the enraged look on Nya's face.

"My family's falling apart, I've already lost my parents and now I'm never gonna see Kai again because of this stupid baby!" She snarled and Skylor rolled her.

"Don't call the baby stupid, some aunt you're gonna be, and it's not like you're NEVER gonna see him again." She replied before Kai re-entered the living room, looking for his cellphone so he could check when his next scan was. "Hey Kai, you alright?" Skylor asked when she saw the uncomfortable wince Kai made.

"Yeah, I- ah!" He suddenly cried out as his knees bent and his hand instinctive flew to his small baby bump. Within seconds both girls were by his side, their faces pale with worry.

"What's wrong?" Nya asked and Kai looked up at her with the most scared expression she had ever seen on her big brother's face.

"I-I need you to take me to the hospital!"...

Kai, Nya, and Skylor were growing more and more anxious as they sat in the waiting room of the maternity ward at the hospital. They had called ahead to warn the doctors and now they were waiting to be checked over. The pain had only been for a few moments but Kai was still scared for himself and his baby. They had tried calling either Jay, Cole, or Zane, but none of them answered their phones. Kai had been drinking so much water as he heard it helped with the ultrasound and he wanted the nurses to have a clear view of the baby.

He hoped that everything was fine, but if there was something wrong with his baby then he wanted to know as soon as possible so he could be ready.

"It'll probably just be indigestion," Skylor suggested, trying to ease Kai's worry.

"How would you know?!" He snapped.

"She's just trying to help, and she's right, it could easily be that," Nya added.

"Or I could be losing my baby!"

"Don't say things like that, let's just wait and see." Nya scolded.

"You're probably hoping I am, aren't you?" He glared, but before Nya could say anything else, the midwife stepped out into the waiting room.

"Kai Smith?" She called and Kai immediately shot up from his seat to follow her, only to freeze when he saw Nya following him.

"I'm coming in, you can't do this on your own." She stated and Kai didn't have the strength to argue. The siblings silently followed the midwife into the room and Kai climbed onto the bed and lifted up his shirt to let her spread the gel on his stomach. Nya watched as the midwife started moving her wand over her brother's abdomen, searching for the baby.

"Sometimes it takes a few minutes for me to get a proper picture, so if I'm quiet don't read anything into it, it's just me concentrating, so try and relax." The midwife reassured the Smith siblings. After a few more seconds of tense silence, a loud, fast thumping sound from the monitor suddenly filled the room and everyone smiled, even Nya. "Everything seems fine, here's your baby." The midwife smiled as she moved the monitor to show them the baby.

Kai had tears in his eyes as he watched his baby on the screen, alive and moving.

He suddenly felt Nya grabbed his hand and he looked over to see her smiling with tears in her eyes as she stared at the image. After the midwife helped Kai clean up, she explained what had happened and warned Kai to try and avoid too much stress. The sibling thanked her and returned to the waiting room to find Skylor still waiting for them.

"So how'd it go?" The red-haired woman asked fearfully, especially when she saw the tears in their eyes.

"It was just pregnancy cramps." Kai smiled weakly.

"Cramps? That's what all this fuss was about?" She asked in disbelief but instantly regretted it when Kai fixed her with a harsh glare.

"I was in agony! You've got no idea what that was like so don't you dare fucking judge me!" He snarled and Skylor held up her hands in surrender.

"But you and the baby are okay right?"

"Yeah, we're fine." Kai smiled like he wasn't about to tear her head off. Nya and Skylor shared a looked and shrugged it off as just his crazy pregnancy hormones.

"Kai I'm so happy for you." Skylor beamed as she hugged the brunette. Then she noticed the look in Nya's eyes and got the message. "I'll call us a cab." She said as she quickly speed-walked down the hallway. Now they were alone, Kai and Nya shifted their feet nervously, not sure what to say. Finally, Kai found the courage and cleared his throat.

"Look, um, I know it's... it's probably not what you want." He admitted and she quickly shook her head.

"It wasn't; I hate the idea of you being pregnant by him but when we heard that heartbeat... I-I wasn't expecting to feel like this, to feel anything for it at all, but it's a part of you and it's part of our family." She finally said and this time she meant it, Kai could see it in her eyes. "I just don't want you to go, I like us living together, always being there to support each other, and this baby needs its auntie, it needs someone to tell it all your embarrassing moments when we were growing up and how you are the most perfect parent in the world!"

"Nya..."

"Please don't leave Kai!" She pleaded, looking like she was ready to beg on her knees.

"I wish it didn't have to be like this, but you know I can't stay, I just have to make it work." He replied and Nya sighed in defeat, knowing she wasn't going to change his mind. Instead, the brother and sister wrapped their arms around each other and walked out of the hospital together...
