It was six months later and everyone was in NYC and were getting things ready for Christmas. Gabriella and Troy had moved into their own place in white plains and Sam and Brooke were getting use dealing with twins boys instead of just one. Sam had just took a job with a game developer and lucky for him, he could work from home.
Right now, Troy was in a zoom meeting with his work, so Gabi decided to meet up with Ryan for a couple of hours.
" hey"
" hey how are you?" she asked him as they hugged each other " oh the usual. Work and Sam being the kid he always is "
Gabriella looked at him weird.
"What are you talking about Ryan? He seems nothing but nice"
" until he starts stealing things and everytime he calls is from jail."
" What are you talking about Ryan? Like are we talking about the same person."
" it's true and now he's been calling like every minute the day."
Just then his phone started to ring.
" hello ... I don't know ... Figure it out or call your mother...I don't care Sam.." he then hung up. " I don't know what to do with him. Jenn said that we should help him but I think that she is just blind."
" Ryan I don't think that it's her that's blind. I think that it's you."
" me !?"
" yeah. I mean he's been nothing but kind and sweet towards anyone. When Troy ended in the hospital last Christmas, he never left Brookes side while she stayed there. Like yes, he may have been like that as a child but have you actually talk to him lately? As for him calling, don't you think that he is just looking for some advice. Like all you are seeing is this same boy that caused trouble when now he is almost 22 and has 2 boys who might want help"
Ryan never said a word.
" so why are you and Troy mad with each other?"
"It's an old story."
Flashback
It was about 10 years ago ( Brooke and Sam were about 13) and both kids were both at middle school in behind the back of the school. When Brooke pulls out some drugs off the ground.
"Hey where did you find that?"
" Just there on the ground,"
Both of them keep looking at it. Just then a teacher spotted them, sent them to the office, and called Troy and Ryan. They both left and went home.
(Troy)
The car ride home was really quiet as Brooke was half afraid to say anything. Just as they get home, he started to yell at her.
" seriously Brooke, are you really that stupid ?"
" but I didn't do anything." she said in tears,
" then why were you found with it in your hand? Just go upstairs ." he said before she could answer.
He then went and called Ryan.
" What the hell Evans?"
" What are you talking about?"
" you know what. How dare your son give my daughter drugs."
"I think you're gone off the edge. He had nothing to do with it. Besides she is the one that had it in her hand."
" whatever just keep that child away from mine." he then hung up.
End of flashback
Later that day Brooke and Sam were just relaxing on the couch, while the twins were sleeping for a bit. They started talking about Christmas.
"I guess we should discuss the holidays"
" speaking of holidays, you don't need to get me anything."
" are you sure Brooke? I don't want you to be mad just because there's nothing for you " he said with a chuckle.
" No its fine.I mean you have done so much for me that I could never repay you. "
They both then fell asleep on the couch together. About two weeks later and it was Christmas Eve. Everyone was up to Troy and Gabriella's, including Ryan, Jenn, sharpay, and Peyton, as their place was the biggest. Both Ryan and Troy had made up after they were left in a basement. While both of the kids were being passed around, Sam went and took Brooke's arm and brought her upstairs.
" hey what's going on?"
" i just want to show you something" he then brought her to a window and she looked outside. Outside a whole light show was going off and it was something that she had never seen before.
"Oh wow. This is so cool. "
" I thought that you would like it. "
They then stayed there for a bit until it was over. They stayed for another hour and then decided to leave. They then drove for about 30 minutes until they reached their stairs and went in. They put the kids to bed and relaxed in front of a fire. Brooke was laying into Sam, while he was playing with her hair.
" hey babe."
" yeah "
" close your eyes "
She then sat up and close them. Sam then got up, went over to his coat and grab something out of his pocket. He went back and sat next to her.
" okay you can open. "
" Oh my god. Sam. You didn't have to do this. " she said holding up two tickets for a trip to Tokyo. " I feel like I don't deserve this."
" it's fine Brooke and you do deserve it. After everything you went through this past year. "
" I don't know what to say. I mean I didn't get you anything because I thought we agreed on no gifts."
" look don't worry about it. You are the only gift I need. Anything else is just a bonus. Besides, you are always talking about going to Japan so I thought why not."
" well I guess I should say thank you. You are certainly the best ever. So how did you afford this anyway? "
" don't worry about it. Anyway we should head to bed as we got a busy day tomorrow. "
he then pulled her in and gave her a kiss. She then grabbed him by the hand and brought him up to their room.
" Babe what are you doing ? "
" let me just thank you for the gift. " she said as she gave him a wink.
" well lead the way then."
