Chapter 39

30 minutes later and Ali and Shuri were both in the main living room sitting on the sofa watching memes on the TV. They had tried to find some popcorn but all they found instead was a note saying,

No snacks before lunch, especially popcorn!
Please don't do irreversible damage.

Ali had smiled at the note once she had read it while Shuri had groaned in frustration. To retaliate the two placed a glitter bomb in each cupboard.

They had only just started watching memes when they saw Steve in his running clothes heading for the elevator. He glanced suspiciously at the two before leaving.

Not 30 seconds later the elevator doors opened again. Both girls were expecting to see a confused and soaking wet Steve looking at them but instead they saw Bucky who was bone dry.

Neither girl had seen him head down in the elevator, so both were surprised to see him.

Instead of answering his questioning glances that he sent the two they ignored him and waited for Steve.

Bucky still expected answers from the two though so moved so that he was blocking their view of the TV. He still didn't get his answers though and the two girls stayed silent with mischievous grins on their faces.

After about a minute of giving the death stare to both Shuri and Ali the elevator door opened again and there stood a slightly angry, very confused, soaking wet Steve.

He walked straight towards the girls who were now looking up at him from the sofa. The TV had been paused but Bucky stayed exactly where he was.

Steve was supposed to have met him down in the outdoor training area. How come he was soaked?

Water was dripping onto the carpet as Steve strode towards the girls. He stopped just in front of them.

"Why are there chicken nuggets all over the outdoor training area?"

There was a little anger in his voice, but it was mainly just disappointment. The grins on Ali and Shuri's faces didn't get smaller at all even when they heard his disappointment. If anything, they grew.

The two girls had found the sprinkler system and placed one chicken nugget over each sprinkler. Shuri then messed with the settings so that the sprinklers would only go off once they detected movement.

Ali turned to Shuri before whispering in her ear,

"I planted chicken nugget trees."

She knew that Bucky could hear her but that was the whole point.

"She planted chicken nugget trees."

The confident look on Bucky's face as he relayed the information was hilarious. He hadn't even given a thought to what he had just heard before he had said it out loud.

After hearing it come out of his mouth, he looked at Steve confused. Steve's face grew in disappointment and exasperation.

"Wait. That's a thing! You can actually grow chicken nugget trees?"

Ali and Shuri were both now lying on the sofa clutching their aching stomachs while still laughing.

Steve just shook his head and chose to ignore Bucky's last comment. Instead, he wandered over to the kitchen to grab some food since it was almost 12.

He opened one of the cupboards above the counter with the intention of getting some crisps. For 2 seconds nothing happened but as soon as he reached his hand inside the cupboard the glitter bomb went off.

The glitter was pink and hit him right in the face.

Even Bucky was laughing now as Steve tried to walk calmly out of the room to his bedroom.

After a few more minutes they all stopped laughing. Bucky went back to the elevator to actually go and do some training. This time though he was going to train at the other end of the area, away from the chicken nuggets. Shuri and Ali just lay on the sofas. They were completely exhausted after laughing so hard.

They spent the time it took for another person to renter the sitting room, watching more memes.

The glitter bombs had been a good plan in theory but now the two had realised that they couldn't get themselves lunch without setting one off. They made do with crisps until Clint came in.

He was trying to be sneaky and had used the vents. Unfortunately for him, Ali had almost a 6th sense when it came to people sneaking about.

She turned and caught him as he dropped out of the vent directly behind them. He tried to dash behind the counter, but it was too late.

"Please Uncle Clint can you get me something to eat from the cupboard because I am too tired to move."

The two were still lying on the sofa and from the look on Ali's face she did look really tired though he knew from experience that the Romanoff's were good actresses.

Unfortunately for him he hadn't had much experience with dealing with Ali's puppy eyes, so he caved in pretty quickly.

Natasha would probably kill him if he just gave Ali junk food for lunch, so he opened the cupboard where the bread was and reached in to get it.

Purple glitter exploded in his face. He now had purple glitter to go with his still purple tinted hair.

Ali and Shuri laughed at him but they weren't laughing as hard as they did at Steve because they were really hungry.

They both got off the sofa and went over to Clint who was still frozen in place with a shocked look on his face.

Shuri took the bread off of him and took some Nutella out of the same cupboard before making two Nutella sandwiches. While Shuri was making the two lunch Ali turned to Clint. She still had a grin on her face as she said,

"Sorry Clint but we were really hungry. We also got Steve with some sprinklers and a pink glitter bomb."

She gave him her puppy dog eyes and Clint forgave her in an instant. He smiled to himself as he tried to imagine a soaked Steve with pink glitter all over his face.

Clint walked away from the kitchen and headed back to his room but not before raiding the only two cupboards that he could touch without getting even more covered in glitter.

He decided to add to the fun and try and send more people to open the cupboards.

By the time the day ended, all the glitter bombs had been set off and every signal Avenger including Shuri, and Pepper had managed to get covered in glitter by one of the bombs. The look of shock that was displayed on Natasha's face was tiny compared to everyone else's but even Clint was shocked that a basic prank like a glitter bomb could actually be used against her. Shuri had completely forgotten about the glitter bombs after an hour of watching memes. Ali had asked her to try and find something in the cupboards for another prank idea when green glitter exploded in her face. Shuri had promised Ali that she would get her back for that.

Shuri and T'Challa both had rooms on the main floor right at the end but Ali and Shuri had insisted that they share Ali's room and have a sleepover. Everyone was hesitant because leaving the two alone at night was a terrifying idea. The amount of trouble they could get into always doubled at night. They had ended up having to use both Ali's puppy dog eyes and Shuri listing the pros and cons of them sharing a room.

As soon as everyone had finished dinner the two rushed off to Ali's room. A bed had already been set up for Shuri and was directly next to Ali's. After changing into their pyjamas, they went back into the sitting room and said their good nights with grins on their faces.

Everyone in the room was suspicious as soon as they saw that Ali and Shuri were going to bed since it was only 7pm. They tried to find out what the two were up to but all they got as a response was that they were going to talk before going to sleep.

Once their good nights had been said they both raced back to Ali's room. They had managed to smuggle popcorn and some chocolate into the room before dinner, but both knew that what they had right now wouldn't even last them an hour.

Shuri turned on a Disney film after realising that Ali had barely watched any of them.

The snacks were finished halfway through the movie. The movie got paused once they had realised, they were out.

Ali volunteered herself to go and get them more. Shuri nodded in agreement since she was more of a scientist than any sort of spy.

What Shuri was not expecting Ali to do was turn her eyes blue and remove part of the ceiling with her powers before levitating herself through the hole.

It took Ali about 5 seconds to reach the grate over the kitchen. Peering through the whole, Ali saw almost every Avenger sitting on the sofas watching TV. Her Mamma and Uncle Clint were having an arm-wrestling match.

Ali used this distraction to take away the grate and open one of the cupboards underneath the sink using her powers. Instead of trying to pick out different things from the cupboard, Ali just levitated everything out of it and placed it on the floor. She could now see the food that was in the cupboard through the hole in the ceiling that she had created.

Hurriedly she separated out the sweet things from the savoury things before levitating up all of the sweet things to the hole where she was located before grabbing them and putting the grate back over the hole.

She managed to just about place everything back into the cupboard and shut the door before Natasha beat Clint.

Another 5 seconds and she was back above her room. She dropped down from the hole she had created with all the food that she had brought before mending the hole.

Ali had managed to grab so much food that they didn't have to go back for more that night.

When morning came both girls woke up in confusion as they hadn't remembered falling asleep. There were crisp packets lying around on the floor as well as chocolate and sweet rappers. The movie had stopped at some point as the TV screen was now black.

Looking at the clock on the wall above the TV, Ali saw that it was 9am. This was the first time Ali had ever managed to sleep in. She for some reason felt slightly refreshed even though she could only have gotten about 5 hours sleep. Ali got up and started to collect the rubbish from around her room and shoving it in her bin by the door. Shuri woke up 5 minutes later and looked a lot less awake than Ali though Ali was pretty sure that Shuri had gotten more sleep than her.

The two spent the whole day together. They divided their time between stealing snacks, pranking everyone and watching memes. By the time dinner was over, everyone was thankful that Ali had school tomorrow. The two were far easier to deal with when they were on her own.

Natasha had gotten FRIDAY to shut down the TV in Ali's bedroom at 8pm but even then, the two stayed up till 10 just talking and eating snacks.

Ali fell asleep first and Shuri used that time to try and come up with a plan to get Ali the week off school and work out how to prank her. She knew that Ali would be as hard to prank as Natasha and so she would have to be really sneaky and creative.

She fell asleep at around midnight with a plan in her mind that would solve both her need for revenge and her boredom for the week.
