A sense of dread and doom filled the air as the ten Ascended and those watching looked upon the newly fully formed being that was Ahriman, the Dark One looking down at the heroes and heroines menacingly.
Spreading his wings out, the eyes upon glowing brightly, Ascended felt the dark energy building up within, before quickly moving ahead as streams of dark red energy fired from his wings, cutting through the ground as the various versions of Davis and Kari dodged the attack.
"You are nothing but insects before me! Die with the rest of your cursed existence!" Ahriman yelled as he swung his blade in a horizontal sweep, sending out a massive shockwave of energy that caused even the Ascended to cry out as it enveloped the area, with those on the ground shielding themselves from the intense attack.
Taking the advantage of their pain, Ahriman then swung both his larger hands together, sending out a blast that not only sent the ten Ascended flying back, but also shook not only the void, but the Digital World as well as those in the command room felt a slight tremor as the attack happened.
"Wait, we're feeling his attacks from here?!" Mikey asked in shock, with the others realizing just how dangerous Ahriman really was.
And it wasn't just the Digital World, for each of the worlds the Ascended were from felt the same tremor at the same time, showing how dangerous and far off power the Dark One now wielded.
"Stick together, we can't let him attack like that again!" AscendedVeedramon yelled out as the ten Ascended moved to attack once again, with Knight Davis' dragon letting out a fierce roar and sending a blast of white fire at the Dark One, who laughed at the feeble attack upon his being.
"Worthless lizard!" Ahriman bellowed, bringing his staff up as dark lightning surged from the weapon, where a bolt struck at Knight Davis' dragon, who cried in pain as his body was electrified, along with his rider.
"Davis!" Priestess Kari yelled as she and her sphinx flew after the falling forms of Knight Davis and his dragon, with Kari grabbing the Knight Davis' hand and pulling him onto the sphinx's back with her, while the sphinx let out a burst of light, encompassing and cushioning the dragon's fall as it landed on the ground below.
Seeing their allies alright, the other six Ascended moved to strike as well, gathering energy as they prepared to attack.
"Path of Destiny!"
"Ascension Blast!"
"Heaven's Might!"
"Shining Strike!"
"Eternal Strike!"
"Twin Strikes!"
These attacks, along with blasts from V-Force and Dawnbringer, all struck at Ahriman from different angles, the Ascended trying to do as much damage to the Dark One as possible, only to be shocked to see what damage they did quickly heal themselves.
"Your struggle is pointless, let us end this!" Ahriman bellowed with a continued madness and fury as his seven eyes began to glow brightly, where all ten Ascended began to cry out as their bodies were covered in dark auras, all pulled into a circle in the air as they felt Ahriman's fragments within them trying to break out and rejoin the Dark One.
"No!" Izael let out in concern, which was shared by the older TK and Shadowknight, while both Knight Davis' dragon and Priestess Kari's sphinx cried out for their friends as the rest watching looked on in fear.
"Let go and embrace your ends, come and become a part of me once more!" Ahriman declared with a wicked tone, feeling his fragments being pulled out of the ten Ascended, whose added power would allow him to retake the rest and finally end the multiverse, once and for all.
As the Ascended struggled against the pain, trying to hold back the darkness within them, images came to each of their minds, images of their homes, their friends, their loved ones, but most of all, each other and the bonds they shared.
They would not let them down.
Feeling the same determination run through them, something inside the Ascended awoke, where a bright light quickly covered them, plunging the darkness back within them as the light shined brightly around them, much to the Dark One's surprise.
"What?! Has the Ascendeds' light...?" Ahriman questioned, thinking that his old foes' power had prevailed against his own, only for his senses to pick up something more, sensing the inner light of the ten before him shining brighter than his own power, angering the Dark One even more.
"Damn you... Damn you all!" Ahriman yelled furiously as the eyes fused upon his wings began to glow once again, once again pooling with darkness.
"Path of Destiny!"
"Ascension Blast!"
"Heaven's Might!"
"Shining Strike!"
"Eternal Strike!"
"Twin Strikes!"
This time, as the Ascended Digimon's attacks hit their targets, Ahriman cried out with clear and agonizing pain, each of his wing eyes exploding from the impact of the attacks.
"You dare!?" The Dark One bellowed as he brought his blade up, only for V-Force as Knight Davis, whose light wings glowed brightly, to fly at the weapon, striking it with their blades and cause the large weapon to crack, before shattering and dissolving into darkness, much to Ahriman's shock.
As this happened, Dawnbringer and Priestess Kari unleashed powerful blasts of light at the Dark One's staff, causing it to explode in Ahriman's hand and enraging the Dark One even more.
"Damn you!" Ahriman bellowed as he brought his larger hands above him, gathering a large amount of dark energy into it, creating a massive sphere of darkness he was about to unleash upon the Ascended, ready to finish them off.
However, before he could release his attack, AscendedVeedramon, LightforceVeedramon, SaviourVeedramon, AscendedOphanimon, Lightbringer Ophanimon and HiMastemon, call covered in their auras, shot at the sphere, piercing through it and causing the dark energy to dissipate, much to Ahriman's growing rage.
"I will not be stopped! Not after coming this far!" The Dark One declared in rage, seeing the Ascended move before him in a circle formation as their light continued to shine brightly.
Enraged, Ahriman began to move towards the group, only for a barrier of light to appear before him, holding him back as he looked down to see Izael, now back in his light form, holding his hand out.
"Enough of you!" The Light Being yelled, through felt his power draining as he tried to hold Ahriman back, who began screaming and rage, his darkness pouring out of him as he tried to push past the barrier.
But before it could break, more barriers appeared before Ahriman, causing him to thrash violently as he fought against the light, where the Ascended and Izael looked back, surprised to see twelve more Light Beings floating in the air behind them with their arms outstretched.
"Now, champions! Strike while he is weakened!" One of the Light Beings with a feminine voice declared, causing the ten Ascended to nod as they faced Ahriman, gathering all their strength for one final strike, their bodies glowing brightly with their Light, and the Light of the Ascended.
As they did, those watching noticed many orbs of light flying towards the Ten through the void, circling around them as they seemed to be adding their power to them Ascended.
"What... what are they?" Zoe asked as she and the other watched in awe, seeing the bright orbs surrounding their friends and their counterparts.
Closing their eyes, the ten Ascended felt and knew what these orbs were, the Ascended Fragments from their counterparts who had fallen, those the Fragments of Ahriman they were facing escaped from, and were now giving their strength to fight the evil they had fought for so long.
Coming together, the light formed around the Ascended, casting a light form resembling the two Champions of Light, which enraged Ahriman as he let out a rage filled cry, shattering the light barriers as he moved to crush the Ascended, his darkness spreading, encompassing the entire void as he moved towards his foes.
Across each of the worlds, the skies darkened, almost becoming pitch black as Ahriman moved closer, where there was only the bright light of the Ascended pushing back against the darkness.
Then, with a great push, the light expanded, pushing past all the darkness and causing a blinding light, with those watching in the Digital World and the Void shielding their eyes from the intensity of the brightness.
After the intensity and the great flow of light dying down, everyone looked to see the light returning, while seeing the massive form of Ahriman falling backwards into the void, a large, gaping hole in his chest as he began to break apart into fragments, a look of rage, denial and hate still in his eyes as his form fully broke apart.
Acting soon after, the light fragments around the glowing Ascended quickly rushed off, pairing off as they surrounded a dark fragment each, containing the Dark One once again as they floated off, to be reborn again in new lives.
Seeing this, the Ascended and those present and watching felt relief and joy filling them.
Ahriman had been defeated, they had won, and their worlds were finally safe.
The DATS Command Room was quickly filled with the deafening sounds of cheering as the heroes and heroines celebrated, with Zoe taking Takuya by surprise as she leaped into his arms and kissed him, an action Mimi and Airu mimicked with Izzy and Yuu, much to their surprise, while Azumi once again kissed Henry's cheek, the action causing Henry to blush a little, surprised by Azumi, and embarrassed to the affection being observed by Terriermon and Pulsemon.
Suzie hugged Cody as she cheered happily, leaving the poor boy blushing, while Nene did the same with Tagiru, who blushed brightly initially, before showing his more confident side and pulled Nene closer to him, pressing his lips to hers' in a sudden, but accepting kiss.
Sora, meanwhile, gave Tai's hand a light squeeze, getting his attention as he turned to her, only to be met by her lips in a light kiss, much to his enjoyment, an action shared through their partners, with Biyomon kissing Agumon.
Meanwhile, from their hiding spot, Stryker, Dark Hawk, the alternate Henry and BlackTerriermon looked up in awe at the scene, watching the last of the Dark One's fragments being contained, before looking up at the circle of ten bright lights, where they noticed two of them break off and seem to be getting brighter.
Already having an idea of what was happening, Henry grabbed BlackTerriermon and quickly moved out of the way, just as Stryker and Dark Hawk realized the lights weren't getting brighter, but coming right at them.
The two villains barely had time to scream as the light slammed into them, and when it dissipated, both Stryker and Dark Hawk were on the ground, bound in ropes of light, while V-Force and Dawnbringer were standing over them.
"Oh, come on!" Stryker let out as he struggled in his restraints, where V-Force replied in an amused tone. "Sorry, but both of you still have prison sentences to fulfill."
"Come on, let us go, for old time sake?" Dark Hawk begged, trying to bargain her way to freedom as she looked up at Dawnbringer, hoping that her old boss would help her out this time.
"We'll discuss the 'old times' once you two make parole." Dawnbringer replied with a smile, before light gags appeared around both villains' mouths, where they thrashed and cried out through their restraints.
Coming down themselves, the other Ascended laughed heartily at the scene, happy to know that they had succeeded, and that there was still a future for them all.
