Detective Conan AU Curacao

Kireina Kokoro, although many would still know her as Curacao, was horrified and felt so useless. First, she hadn't been able to protect herself which led to her getting pregnant. Then while pregnant she hadn't been able to protect her baby which had led to it being murdered…

And now after having take in cute little Conan as her own child, and him calling her Haha never failed to make her smile and feel warmth fill her heart, she hadn't been able to protect him. Taken by KID? After she learned of their relation that was fine, he had apparently taken to Conan like a brother and adored his baby brother. But now that he had been attacked and hurt so badly by that older boy?

Now that he was losing his arm because of his supposed 'friend'. Now that she couldn't protect him?!

What kind of guardian was she? What kind of mother figure was she that she couldn't protect him?! She couldn't protect her little one!

A loud long beep rang through the hall and everyone's heads snapped up and looks of horror immediately appeared on everyone's faces, even the nurses that had just arrived. That beep. The long line of the heart monitor. The sound of someone flat lining. Somehow they all heard it and immediately knew who it was for.

"CONAN!" Kireina didn't even know that the scream came from her throat as she was up and moving before anyone else, dashing down the hall full speed and nearly sliding on the tile floor as she rounded into his room.

Thankfully he was sitting up and obviously alive. Unfortunately she could easily see the thin arm that was missing from the shoulder down on his left side but he was taking out his wires and all with right hand with a panicked look on his face.

"Conan-kun!" Kireina was already by his side and gently grabbing his hand to keep him from ripping out more wires, she already noticed his good arm bleeding from where he probably yanked it to take the IV out.

"Shh. It's okay baby. I'm here now." Kireina said softly as she pressed a kiss to his head, immediately but gently pulling him into her side as she held him.

"I…I can't feel my arm." Conan said staring up her with wide panicked eyes that had tears in the corners of them.

"Oh musuko." Kireina said softly, tears in her own eyes as she kissed his head again while tightening her hold on him.

"He…he told me they couldn't save it. I…how am I going to be a detective with only one arm an-"

"That's simple enough isn't it?" Haibara's cold, but sympathetic, voice grabbed Conan's attention immediately and he looked at her. She was standing beside his bed and staring at him calmly and reached out to put a hand on his unbroken leg.

"You are great friends with an inventor who's made plenty of amazing things. It'd be more than easy for Dr. Agasa to make you a mechanical one and it can have several different features in it for you. Adding something like a built-in magnifying glass or maybe a grappling hook and tranquilizer darts…of course at this point we need to include a bullet proof shield for you too." Haibara said and she smirked slightly at Conan who was relaxing a little bit at Haibara talking sense into him or at least distracting him.

"Maybe just have a bunch of sensors and trackers and all built into it. After all you're a corpse magnet." Haibara said and Conan let out a laugh that was more like a sob but at least he was smiling slightly now.

"Are you okay cub?" Kireina asked feeling him shiver and Conan shook his head slightly.

"You're either going into shock or just plain cold. Here." KID said showing up out of seemingly nowhere, although it looked like the entire waiting room was crowded outside of the door trying to get in, and just took off his cape. Wrapping it around Conan KID pressed a button and gave Conan a shaky smile.

"There we go. The heating system should be on and you'll be nice and warm in no time." KID said and his hands were shaking slightly as he kneeled down near Conan and Conan's sharp blue eyes immediately locked onto KIDs.

"Wasn't your fault." Conan said reaching his good arm out and taking KID's hand.

"It is. I didn't stop you from chasing him on the skateboard. I couldn't protect you when he hit the house. I…I should have waited until you were better before I showed you the video I had gotten. I'm so sorry otouto." KID said and Kireina's eyes softened, as did a few of the other parent figures or 'Conan protection squad' as Masumi had called them, as she stared at the teen in all white.

"Come here." Kireina said and dragged KID onto the bed and into her other side.

"It wasn't your fault. You were the only one who did chase after him. The rest of us were stuck sitting at the pond like bumps on a log. If anything it's our fault because we didn't try to help." Kireina said and she kissed KID's forehead while he was tense and confused and looked so lost that it hurt her heart.

"Conan-kun…I'm adopting him as your big brother." Kireina said seriously to Conan who looked up at her confused.

"He wasn't already?" Conan asked and KID near sobbed at that while Kireina smiled.

"He was. I'm just making it official." Kireina said hugging her two boys close and saying nothing about Haibara climbing into the bed and just sitting beside Conan while Conan was holding KIDs hand across Kireina's lap.

"So we have a magician thief as a son as well as a baby detective. Sounds good to me. You Rena?" Gin asked as he and Rena managed to squeeze past the others and get into the room.

"More than. A baby detective and a teenage thief…sounds perfect to me." Rena said as she and Gin kneeled in front of the bed, Gin ruffling Conan's hair while Rena had a hand on KID's arm.

"I know we didn't get off to a good start KID-chan. I'm sorry about that…but you're such an amazing big brother to little Conan-chan…so I hope you don't mind giving me a second chance and letting me treat you as my sons older brother…as my son." Rena said softly as she stared up at him and KID looked so lost.

"But…but I'm cursed. My dad was killed…my mom…she hasn't been home in months…everyone but Conan leaves me…they stay away…" KID said and Rena stood up to kiss his head, pulling him into a hug as well.

"We won't leave you and we won't stay away. You're ours now KID-chan."
