Chapter 40 – The dress
1 week later:
Green and Blue clashed at the moment. With a swing, Luke blocked, deflecting once again, which made Ines sighed.
"You are holding back, again" she said looking at him, holding her lightsaber on her right hand, breathing heavily. Being 15 weeks pregnant, she got tired way faster than before, but in almost 4 months of pregnancy, that day was the first time she felt good: no morning sickness, no nausea. So why not make an exercise. That morning she decided to go to the Temple with Luke and R2 and stayed with them until lunch. Even the food tasted it better.
Luke decided to make some drills but he was holding back which made her frustrated. She knew why he was doing that, and she loved him even more because of it.
Luke was calming his breathing, holding his lightsaber, looking at her
"You know why?"
"Don't do it, please"
"I can't help it. Darling, you're pregnant of course I will not attacked you on full force" he said
"You're right. I'm pregnant, not sick" she said and without warning, she swing at him, making Luke blocked right away.
He sighed, if she wanted a fight he had some tricks. With his lightsaber high above his head, Luke readied his attack from classic first-position, making Ines held a lateral stance, in classic answer. Without announcement, she brought her blade straight down, and when Luke moved to parry, she feinted and cut low. Luke smiled, proudly at his wife.
As they circled, Luke deflected an attack, by ducking down and before she could turned, he grabbed her arm and with a quick move he disarmed her, taking her lightsaber and grabbing her left arm he made her turn, with her arm pinned behind her back and pulled closer to him, with a smile on his face, while they were both breathing heavily.
"That is a cheap move Skywalker" she laughed at him, especially when she noticed he was trying to get closer to her lips.
"You still have much to learn, Skywalker" he smiled as he gently bite her lower lip, asking for a deep kiss that she allowed.
Smiling they pulled back, and she wrapped her right leg over his tripping him, which made him fall on the floor with a hard hit, more than she wanted.
"Damn" he said when his head hit the floor making Ines gasped and lay on top of him
"Oh Babe I'm sorry, I didn't want to be like that" she said to him giving him a ton of small kisses all over his face, making Luke laughed and wrapped his arms around her. "Oh my poor husband"
"INES TALIA SKYWALKER, ARE YOU SERIOUS?"
They both look to the side to see a Leia, standing at the entrance of the training room of the Jedi Temple, with her hands on her hips, having a look that could kill them.
Standing up from the floor, Ines rolled her eyes.
"Jeez Leia, for a moment I thought I was hearing my mother. Every time she called me by my full name, minus the Skywalker, I knew I did something bad" she said at Luke making him laugh at that.
"What are you doing here?" she asked, making Ines and Luke looked at each other
"I'm with my husband training a little bit. Why are you so upset?" Ines was not understanding Leia's reaction.
"Why I'm upset? Did you forget that we have an appointment to the wedding dress shop in 30 minutes?"
Ines gasped. The wedding dress, she totally forgot it was that day.
"You forgot didn't you?" she said knowing her best friend and now sister in law very well.
"I did. But relax, I will take a shower quickly and be back in 15 minutes" she said. Handing her lightsaber to Luke "Hold this for a moment" and give him a pick on the lips she turned to leave, when she felt Luke giving her a small tap on her butt. "Hey" she laughed and went to the showers.
Leia shook her head and Luke frown
"Please Leia" he passed by her
"She is pregnant and you decided to train, in her condition?"
Luke stopped and face his twin
"Do you think I would accept that if I knew it would put her and our child in danger. Really Leia?" he replied looking upset with her.
Leia sighed. Of course she knew her brother would never put Ines in such a condition.
"I'm sorry. It's just I didn't get the best news today from the Senate?"
Luke made a questionable look at her.
"What happened? Another system on war?"
"No. But I was informed that Senator Tamzi Goff will be the representative of the Cantonica system."
"And I see you know that man?"
"Him and his two obnoxious sons. He used to visit my father…" Leia looked at Luke who sighed when he heard that "Luke, Bail Organa will always be my father."
"I didn't say anything" he replied
"You thought, it is the same thing. As I was saying… He used to go to Alderaan with his sons. He worked for the empire and when the emperor died he was one of the few that said he was force all this time. BS in my opinion"
"Why the Senate allowed him to be in the senate?"
"We can't put every Alliance member in the Senate. You know that would cause controversy"
Luke nod. He understood what Leia was saying.
Then he saw Han, Chewie and Lando walk inside the Temple, followed by 3PO.
"Hey Luke. Wow this place is huge" Han looked around. It was the first time he entered in the Temple.
"I can't wait to see filled with students" Luke smiled to his
"Hello Luke"
"Lando" and the two friends hugged each other. "What are you doing here?"
"I found this guy outside not knowing if he should come in or not" Han replied tapping Lando's back.
"Why did you think that? Of course you can come in"
"Hello Master Luke. So good to see you today" the golden droid approached them, making Luke smile at him
"Hello 3PO." he said "But what is this: an old alliance reunion?"
"Well I don't know about this guy" Han pointed at Lando "But Chewie and I just came from the lower levels"
"Again?" Luke asked.
"The senate decided it was for the best to make some circles there from to time to time." Leia informed him. "But Lando what are you doing here?"
"I called him"
They all turned around and saw Ines coming towards them, wearing dark blue pants and dark middle sleeve shirt. Her wet hair was lose.
"Already done?" Leia asked
"You know I'm always fast taking my showers. Well I am when someone doesn't decided to take a shower with me" she giggled looking at her Luke, who handle her lightsaber and she strap it on her belt. "But Lando is here cause I invite him to go with us to shop my wedding dress. After all I want a man's opinion on this. And 3PO will go too, after all he will be the only one who will tell the truth when I look horrible"
"Wait you invited Lando and not me, kid?" Han frown at her "Me? Your pal? I can give my opinion too"
"Well I didn't ask your opinion because I know you will tell Luke how the dress will look like." Ines winked at him
Han pretended to be offended.
"Are you saying you trust Lando over me?"
"Yes I am" she pat his shoulder
Chewie laughed at that nodding.
"You can break a man's heart Ines, really" he said making Ines laughed.
"Don't be dramatic"
Leia looked at the time and clapped her hands.
"The conversation is very good but we need to go, now?" she said grabbing Ines arm who looked at Luke
"See you at dinner time?" she asked
"Do you think you are at home at that hour?" he laughed. Ines knew what he meant. It would be a long day.
"I got an idea. Why don't we go have dinner at 1900 in the new restaurant: the Yavin 4 Restaurant" Han suggested to everyone
Ines laughed right away.
"We know why you want to go that restaurant. Because you like to got there and see the picture of you guys after you get your medals" Ines pointed at him smiling.
"Your husband is in that picture too, young lady. So is Leia and you if I recall" he replied making Ines sticking her tongue at him "Very mature"
"But we can go there. After all it in the corner of the Temple. So we can all meet me here at that time and we go together" Luke told.
"Sure. Now let's go" Leia said and before she left Han place a kiss on her lips, making Ines smile. Leia and Han relationship was growing up. They didn't talk about marriage because both of them was busy but it was something they didn't cross out. Maybe in a few years.
"Okay lovebirds let's go" Ines said pulling Leia's arm "Come on 3PO I will need your pure honesty in this" and blowing a kiss to Luke, she left with Leia, Lando and 3PO, leaving Luke with Han, Chewie and R2 in the temple, letting Luke show it to his friends.
Inside the Goodness Bride Shop:
Ines walked up to the place where Leia and Lando was sitting, alongside with 3PO wearing what it looked like a 10th dress that afternoon. They were there for 2 hours and till now she hated all the dresses Leia suggested.
The two friends always had different tastes in term of shopping, especially clothes. Leia, being the princess always had a taste way different from hers, that never liked to wear dresses. She was always the pants type of girl. Every time there was a party and she had to wearing a dress it was a nightmare for her.
Right now she was wearing a light pink dress, with a skirt that looked like a cupcake.
Stopping in front of them, 3PO was the first to speak
"Oh my" he said making Ines pointing at him
"Even 3PO knows this is horrible and not me at all. Look at this!" she looked at them.
"You look beautiful" Leia said
Ines looked to the employee that was serving them: a Togruta specie named Bierag and shook her head
"I look like a cupcake with layers and layers of pink frosting. Don't I?" she asked to Bierag
"Well you are not glowing, so to speak. I mean you have a glow because of the baby you have inside you, but not the bride type of glow. So I don't think that is the dress"
"Thank you" she looked back and Leia "This is not me, this is more you. You know I like a dress not to plain but not over the top. Lando please help me here. If you were the groom and your bride walked down the aisle wearing this, what was your reaction?"
Lando looked to Leia and then to Ines.
"My honest opinion?"
"That is why you are here" Ines replied
"I would hold a laugh"
Ines sighed
"That's it. I will not be the laughing subject on my own wedding. Luke deserve to have the most beautiful bride on a day that it is also his. I want a dress that makes him not want to take his eyes of me all day"
"You can wear a nightgown and he would not take his eyes of you all day. You guys look like teenagers. Always lovey dovey towards each other 24/7."
Ines sighed. She loved Leia a lot, the fact that her best friend was also her sister in law, made her so happy but sometimes she didn't get her.
Lando notice Ines sadness
"May I choose one dress?"
The three girls looked at him, even 3PO was chocked in his own way
"You, choosing a dress?" Leia had to hold a laugh.
"If Ines doesn't like it is fine, but let me try. After all it almost 6:30 pm and we have dinner time in 30 minutes. So go inside and wait for the dress I will choose"
Nodding, Ines went inside again, taking off the dress and wearing a silk robe. If she didn't find a dress today, she didn't know how she will find one in 3 weeks.
There was a knock on the door and Lando appeared with white ball-gown type of princess off-the-shoulder mermaid tulle dress with beading sequins.
Ines gasped when she saw the dress.
"Try this one." he said and left the room, while Bierag helped Ines to put the dress.
Once they walked to the room where the others were waiting for them, 3PO was again the first to speak
"Oh my Goodness, Mistress Ines, you look absolutely stunning"
Ines smile. She felt like a bride right now.
"I think I have an idea" Bierag said, and tying Ines long hair in a bun, she put a veil on it, that made Leia gasped.
"My brother wont take his eyes from you, that's for sure"
Ines smile and turn to see herself in the mirror and she was speechless when she saw her reflection. She looked like a bride. The dress was perfect, it was stunning but not over the top, and it was perfect for an almost 4 ½ month pregnant belly she would have in 3 weeks, and it flowed perfectly which meant she could dance without a problem.
"Now you have a bride glow" Bierag smiled
Turning to face them she knew that was the one.
"Now that is the type of dress I would love to see on my bride" Lando smile
"Thanks Lando."
"So..." Bierag started "Are you saying yes to the dress?"
"Yes." Ines clap happily. Now she couldn't wait for her wedding day.
