Growing Darkness

Takes place after the episode "Chille Tid". Steven has nightmares about Lapis, but they are soon replaced with horrible nightmares of himself. The Gems try to get Steven to talk about the weird dreams, but he refuses in doing so. But soon, Steven will be ultimately consumed in a darkness no one has ever seen before. Rated T for later chapters. AU. DISCONTINUED.

40. Author's Note: The End and Thank You

A/N: Hey everyone. I know it's been over three years since I last updated this story and quite honestly there's a good reason for that. Unfortunately, if anyone out there was still hoping for this story to eventually continue, I come with bad news. I'm discontinuing the story and no future chapters will be written.

There's multiple reasons as to why I'm discontinuing this story so it's kind of hard to pinpoint the biggest one. I guess for me it comes down to my love for Steven Universe fading as the years have gone on. I didn't care for the ending to the show or Steven Universe Future so my love for the characters, world, and everything else has kind of subsided. I'm still grateful for the enjoyment the show has given me throughout the years and also giving me the inspiration to write about it's characters, but I don't really have any motivation to continue writing for it.

I suppose another big reason as to why I'm not continuing would be due to the fact that I wanted this story to follow the show itself somewhat in terms of plot (like the confronting of the Diamonds and everything) but now that the shows over, I really don't see any point in doing that anymore.

I also think I'm just not interested in writing in general at the moment. It's still something I'm passionate about, but it's not something I'm particularly interested in at the moment.

For the probably very few people who have followed this story since 2015, I am forever grateful you stuck around all this time and I'm sorry that it has come down to this. For the new people who are just now reading this story, I'd like to thank you for giving it a chance. The first few chapters are pretty rough writing wise, and I hope you found some enjoyment in the later chapters, if I improved at all that is.

I just wanted to give a somewhat formal end point to this story since we all know how much it sucks to be hooked by a good story only to reach an unsatisfying ending where the author ditches it without any type of explanation.

This update is more so for the one person in 2028 who happens to stumble onto this story and wonders what happened to me and if I'll ever be back. The answer is a pretty confident no.
