Okay, in the last chapter people were a little confused as to why Edward didn't just shoot James. I forgot to mention that if he had done that, then a big gunfight would've started because James had people with him. And I'm glad most of you didn't think the story line of twins was lame. If you did I've very sorry! I hope you can forgive me and continue to give my story a chance. Anyways, enjoy!
Chapter Forty
Everyone seemed like they were on edge, but they wouldn't say what was wrong. It was weird. Even Alice, who was usually just as goofy as I was, seemed to be glancing nervously over her shoulder.
"So, Bella," Esme said as she poured the tea, "Edward told me that you two were clearing out your apartment today. He said you're moving in with him."
"Wait, why didn't I hear anything about this?" Alice said, taking her cup away from her lips.
I shrugged, "It was something we just discussed. I don't want to be in my apartment by myself for a while. I'd rather stayed with Edward. Just until things get back to normal."
"That's smart," Rosalie said, "That maniac is still out there."
I shuddered, "Yeah. I know."
"Let's not talk about that," Esme said quickly, "Are you excited to move in with Edward?"
"I mean yeah, but I just wish it wasn't so soon. I feel like it's really forced. I know Edward's excited, but I really wish we could've come to the decision on our own."
"It'll be great dear," She said, "Edward's been looking forward to this for a long time now."
I smiled a little; I knew Edward was eager, but I was still hesitant. I was afraid that this would ruin our relationship.
"So, Jasper and I are looking for a bigger house," Alice said.
"I thought you two were liking the apartment?" Rosalie asked.
"Well we need something bigger." Alice smiled.
"Why?" Esme asked, giving Alice a look.
A bigger smile spread across her face, "We were waiting to tell everyone, but I'm too excited! I'm pregnant!"
I gasped, "Congratulations!"
"Oh my goodness," Rosalie gushed, "How far along are you?"
"Like eight weeks," Alice said.
"Eight weeks?" Esme said, her eyes squinting, "But your wedding was only five weeks ago."
Alice blushed, "We may not have waited until the wedding."
Esme shook her head, but laughed, "I guess I can't be too upset with you. I was four months pregnant with Edward when I walked down the aisle."
"Do you think dad will be mad?" Alice asked.
Esme shook her head, "He'll be excited. I think he's missing having kids around the house. He's been breaking out the scrapbooks and talking about the days when you and Edward were kids."
"I hope he's ready for grandkids," Rosalie said, "Emmett and I have decided to try again. We found a doctor who specializes in high risk pregnancies. He thinks he can help us."
"That's great," Esme said, "I have a good feeling this time."
Rosalie nodded, "Me too."
"Next it'll be Bella's turn," Alice laughed.
I nearly choked on my tea, "Oh, no no. No kids for me. Not yet."
"Do you want kids?" Esme asked.
"One day, when I'm much older. Financially stable. And my business isn't so time consuming."
The front door opened; the three of them jumped but settled when Carlisle walked through the door.
"Hey honey how was—," He cut Esme off with a deep kiss. I looked away, feeling as if I were intruding on a special moment. Edward, Jasper, and Emmett came in quickly after he did.
Edward hugged me tightly, then kissed me in the same manner that Carlisle kissed Esme.
"Come on," He said.
"Is everything okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, let's just go." He said.
I nodded and followed him out to the car. I noticed that there were two SUV's in the driveway, several men were getting out of them.
"Who are they?"
"My parents have decided to bump up their security." He said.
"Why are they getting security?"
"They've always had a security team, but my father has decided to add in some extra." He said.
"Edward is everything okay?" I asked as we got into his car.
"Everything is fine my love," He leaned over and kissed my cheek, "Everything is just fine."
I nodded, feeling a knot in my stomach. Something was wrong. Everyone was acting weird.
"What's going on Edward?" I asked when we pulled into his house. There were three white vans in the driveway.
"I've just decided to bump up security around the house. Nothing to worry about."
I nibbled my lip for a moment. But once we pulled into the driveway, I turned on him.
"You're lying to me," I snapped.
"What?" He looked shocked by my tone.
"I said you're lying to me! I know when I'm being lied to!" Tears formed in my eyes. I wasn't sad, I was just angry.
"Bella, I'm not—,"
"Don't tell me you're not lying to me! I know you are."
He sighed heavily, "Okay. Alright, yeah, you're right. I am lying to you."
I felt the little knot in my stomach tighten, "What's going on?"
He took a deep breath, "I talked to the police today. They think they've found the man who attacked you. But he's not alone."
My eyes widened, "W-what do you mean?"
"I mean that you are in even more danger," He snapped.
"Why didn't you tell me?" I demanded.
"Because I didn't want to scare you."
"Wow," I said, shaking my head, "I can't believe you wouldn't tell me."
"I'm sorry Bella," He said, "That man you told me about, the one you shot, he's pissed."
"How do you know?" I asked.
"The cops told me. They said that one of their undercovers discovered all of this."
I shook my head and got out of the car. I ignored the pain in my ankle so I could storm off into the house. Though, I was regretting it by the time I was in the bedroom. I sat on the bed and threw my shoes at the closet.
"Bella, please don't be mad," Edward said as he walked into the bedroom.
"Edward, someone's trying to kill me. How am I supposed to act? Happy?" I snarled.
He groaned, "No, I meant don't be angry with me. I'm just trying to protect you."
"Yeah, well lying to me isn't protecting me."
He thumped down onto the bed beside me, "Bella, I'm sorry. I'm just…I'm just really scared."
I knew he was scared. His hands had begun shaking. I was the only person who ever saw his hands shake. I wanted to stay angry with him, but I knew he was really scared. I reached over and grabbed one of his hands.
"Edward," I sighed, "It's okay. I mean, it's not okay, I don't want you lying to me. But it'll be okay. We'll figure it out."
He nodded, "I know we will. But it doesn't help us right now."
"I know."
He pulled me into his arms, "Look, I'm bumping up security around here and at the bakery. It's going to be a pain in the ass, but we have to do it."
"What are the police going to do?"
"The cops are trying to catch this guy, but their informant disappeared."
I shuddered, "Do they think he died?"
"Not sure," he said, kissing the top of my head, "But hey, do you promise to follow the safety guidelines I lay out? I'm not trying to be a dick; I just want to protect you."
I nodded, "It's fine. I value my life."
He laughed, "Good. Because I value your life. If something happened to you, I don't know what I'd do."
"You wouldn't do anything stupid because there are plenty of other women out there."
"No, I think I'd lose it." He said.
I sighed, "No you wouldn't. You'd be fine."
He chuckled, "We'll agree to disagree."
I nodded and kissed his cheek, "Don't lie to me again. Please."
"I won't." He said, "I swear."
We kissed again, but this time, the kiss was deeper. I poured all of my emotions into the kiss. It had been so long since we were intimate. I didn't realize how much I needed this. Needed him.
Gently we fell back against the bed together; he was being uncharacteristically gentle, but I figured it was probably because I was still recovering.
He rolled us so that he was underneath me. We quickly shed our clothes. I leaned over and kissed him again. I lifted my hips and lowered myself onto him. We both gasped. I sat, unmoving, just enjoying the feeling of him inside of me.
The back of his fingers gently grazed my hardened nipples. He didn't try to take control, instead, he let me set the pace and just moved with me.
"Oh, Edward," I gasped gently.
"I've missed you," He whispered, his hips straining to meet mine.
We moaned in unison as we came. I laid back against his chest, his hand was gently rubbing my back as we both came down from our orgasms. He kissed my forehead and wrapped his arms around me.
"Bella, I was being serious when I said I'd lose it if I lost you," He said.
I smiled, "Honestly, I think I'd lose it too if I lost you."
I know this wasn't the most exciting chapter, but some exciting things are happening! Alice is pregnant, Rosalie is ready to try again! James alive and threatening the Cullens. So, as you all probably know, James isn't working alone. Who do you think he's working for? Lemme know in a review! (And I may add another chapter at some point today. This one was so short! I'll make another deal, if this chapter gets... let's say 20 reviews, I'll update again!)
