A/N: yeah...I did not wrap this up in one chapter. I could have but it would have been something like 4,000 words. So I'm splitting it up...enjoy!

Bobby exited the portal cycling through what needed to happen. Alarms were already blaring due to the radiation being emitted by Jen. He didn't see Johnny or Jen so he figured Dr. Cho was working on her. Still in ice form he walked over to one of the technicians scanning everyone else that they had brought with them. "Are they clean?"

"Yes sir. Radiation is minimal." The technician looked around the area outside of the Med Bay. They were used to the Avengers and Peter's team arriving back from missions in various states and after housing Professor Xavier's students for an extended period of time they were somewhat used to just rolling with whatever happened. The technician took a step back from Daredevil and looked over at Bobby. He assumed since he was still in ice form either the threat wasn't over or they were all still protecting their identities. "Where's Spider-Man?"

Bobby glanced over at Davis who had closed the portal to prevent the police from following them. "Working on it." Turning his attention to Daredevil he motioned for them to follow him. Pushing open a door to a conference room at the end of the hall he ushered them inside.

Matt stopped at the door. "We should go back."

Bobby shook his head. "We'll get them. But right now we just portaled you into Avengers headquarters. I need you four to stay here until we get this squared away." He started to close the door. "The building has an AI...FRIDAY, say hello to Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Jessica."

"Hello. If there's anything you require all you need to do is ask."

Bobby nodded to Daredevil and shut the door behind him, making his way back to Davis. "Can you reopen a portal near them?"

Davis nodded. "FRIDAY said wait. So I'm waiting."

Captain Stacy stared at Peter. He had stopped being shocked about things that happened in New York a long time ago. This, however, took him off guard. "Peter...". He couldn't even start putting together all of the questions that were swirling in his head so he settled on the one that didn't matter to job, the current situation, or for that matter, anyone else here. "Does Gwen know?"

"I don't know. When we walked into the warehouse, I went in as me, I thought I might be able to diffuse the situation. I thought Harry might calm down. When he escalated, I triggered the suit but I don't know how much she remembers." Peter paused a moment. "I tried to protect her...she ran and lost her footing at the top the stairs...". He locked eyes with Captain Stacy. "I've replayed that day a million times in my mind. Everything I could have done differently to try to change what happened..."

Captain Stacy nodded. "Peter, I know all five of you care about her. I've been fielding weekly and sometimes daily calls and texts from all of you for the better part of a year...and I know reaching out wasn't out of guilt. I know and Gwen knows...but Peter...you're..."

"Spider-Man. No apologies, no regrets. I am Spider-Man. What we do...all of us...we do because we've seen what happens. And when you can do the things that I can do, what Daredevil can do, the others...when you can do the things we do and we don't do something...then when the bad things happen, they happen because of us." He swallowed and looked over at his dad.

"Captain Stacy, we'd love to talk about this further but you have a bunch of bad guys that are going to either wake up or break through the ice prison and we have a friend that we need to make sure is ok. You know where to find us." Tony put an armored arm around Peter and pulled him backwards just as a portal opened behind them.

Captain Stacy watched them disappear into what looked like a wormhole made of blue lightning, just like the one that had swallowed the others a few minutes before. He wasn't used to not being the one in charge of a situation. He looked over at the officer standing next to him. "Davis...let's start transporting."

Officer Davis nodded. "You know, it makes sense...now that you think about it. The tech...It's funny, I was starting to think it was someone else." He looked around at the officers staring at the spot Iron Man and Spider-Man had just vacated. "He took a big risk. There's a lot of people he's put in jail...now that they know who he is, they'll come after him.

George Stacy moved forward to start directing the clean up. "I think he probably has protection. Let's worry about the problem at hand."

MJ looked over at the elevator. She was familiar enough with FRIDAY and her systems that she could tell when something was off. "FRIDAY, what's going on?" The rest of the group stopped talking and watched her walk towards the elevator.

"The Cauterize Protocol has been triggered."

"What's the Cauterize Protocol?" She could tell the elevator had been locked down and if she had to guess, other security measures that she couldn't dream of had been enacted as well.

"The Cauterize Protocol goes into effect in the event that Peter's identity has been compromised."

Warren stood up and crossed his arms. "Is he ok?"

"He is currently with Mr. Stark at the compound. All vitals are within normal ranges."

MJ nodded. "Are Pepper and Morgan ok?"

"Yes. The Cauterize Protocol has been put into effect for the Lake house as well as the Hogan residence." FRIDAY paused. "Mr. Leed's residence is included but he is not currently at his residence."

"FRIDAY, open balcony doors." Warren looked over at

MJ. "I can get there and lurk...just in case. Just give me the address." He had turned off the holo projector after Betty and Gwen had left. Unfurling his wings he waited for MJ to show him on the map before walking towards the balcony. He heard a click and the doors slid open. "Lock them behind me FRIDAY." He knew he hadn't needed to give the instruction but it made him feel better leaving.

He stayed high until he got close to Betty's apartment. Counting the floors he figured out how many floors he'd have to go down from the roof. Circling the building he looked at the cars around the building. He wasn't even sure what he was looking for, but if he could get close enough he knew he was more than capable of stopping something. Landing on the roof, he made his way to the roof access door. Breaking the lock he headed down the stairs to the correct floor.

"What the hell Peter!" Bobby hugged his friend as Davis closed the portal behind him.

"How's Jen?" Peter looked around the compound hallways. For as chaotic as the last 30 minutes had been, the compound was eerily quiet.

"Dr. Cho is still working. We haven't seen her since we got back." Davis looked between Tony and Peter. "Why are you both so calm?"

Tony shrugged. "I'm shocked he didn't do this earlier. I've been preparing for it for years."

Peter ignored all three of them. "What did you do with Daredevil and the others?"

Bobby nodded towards the conference room at the end of the hall. "I couldn't think of anywhere else to put them so I had FRIDAY make sure they didn't try to wander around."

Tony nodded. "FRIDAY, is there an update on Jen?"

"Nothing substantial."

Tony looked at the three boys in front of him. "Dr. Cho works miracles ever time someone comes back hurt. Give her time. Meanwhile, let's check on our guests."

Peter, Davis, and Bobby followed Tony down the hall and into the room. Daredevil stood up from where he was sitting on the table. "Everything ok?"

Peter shrugged. "For now I think everyone's identities are safe."

Matt shook his head. "That's not what I meant. Peter, you didn't need to do that."

It made Tony feel good that others were concerned. "He's been contemplating this for a while. Pepper will arrange a press conference and spin everything the way we want it. We'll let things die down for a couple hours and we can transport you back to the city." He glanced around at the other vigilantes. He knew who they all were but there was no need for them to know that. He watched Luke study one of the boards that aligned one wall. It was left over from one of their brainstorming sessions trying to piece together Windsor's overall plan and find a connection to the anti-mutant movement.

"This what the Avengers have been working on?" Luke had locked onto a picture of a man that seemed to be on a collage campus, although it looked a little too highbrow to be just any campus.

"Yes. We captured him a couple weeks ago. He's on ice while SHIELD figures out what to do with him." Tony crossed his arms and watched Luke move his eyes from the picture of Windsor at Oxford to wander across the rest of the information. That particular board was a timeline of Windsor's movements.

Luke pointed to a gap. "Seagate...off the coast of Georgia. Went by the name Burstein."

Tony walked over to stand next to Luke. Picking up a card he wrote Seagate and pinned it to the board. He preferred a more high tech option but he couldn't get Natasha and Steve on board. They always preferred an old fashioned board. He knew FRIDAY would already be searching the name. Tony on the other hand did not need any help researching Seagate. He knew exactly where Seagate was. Knowing where Hammer was and that he was safely ensconced was pretty high on his need to know list. "And you know this why?"

"It's where I became Luke Cage...thanks to this guy."
