-Chapter-41-Christmas-
-Rachel pov-
I groan as I hear sound coming from the baby monitor. I turn to look at the screen and then smile. Santana is holding juniper while the other two watch smiling. She is feeding her while singing.
-Santana singing-
Oh, there's no place like home for the holidays
'Cause no matter how far away you roam
When you pine for the sunshine of a friendly gaze
For the holidays you can't beat home sweet home
I met a man who lives in Tennessee, he was heading for
Pennsylvania and some homemade pumpkin pie
From Pennsylvania, folks are travelling
Down to Dixie's sunny shore
From Atlantic to Pacific
Gee, the traffic is terrific
Oh, there's no place like home for the holidays
'Cause no matter how far away you roam
If you want to be happy in a million ways
For the holidays you can't beat home sweet home
Take a bus, take a train
Go and hop an aeroplane
Put the wife and kiddies in the family car
For the pleasure that you bring
When you make that doorbell ring
No trip could be too far
I met a man who lives in Tennessee, he was heading for
Pennsylvania and some homemade pumpkin pie (some pumpkin pie)
From Pennsylvania, folks are travelling
Down to Dixie's sunny shore
From Atlantic to Pacific
Gee, the traffic is terrific
Oh, there's no place like home for the holidays
'Cause no matter how far away you roam
If you want to be happy in a million ways

I am about to get up when I see more movement. I smile wider when I see Lucy in there too. She walks over and picks up Judith. She takes her to the changing table before singing.
-Lucy singing-
Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walking home from our house Christmas Eve
You can say there's no such thing as Santa
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe
She'd been drinkin' too much eggnog
And we'd begged her not to go
But she forgot her medication
And she staggered out the door into the snow
When we found her Christmas mornin'
At the scene of the attack
She had hoof prints on her forehead
And incriminatin' Claus marks on her back
Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walking home from our house Christmas Eve
You can say there's no such thing as Santa
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe
(Lord, we believe)
Now we're all so proud of Grandpa
He's been takin' this so well
See him in there watchin' football
Drinkin beer and playin' cards with cousin Belle
It's not Christmas without Grandma
All the family's dressed in black
And we just can't help but wonder:
Should we open up her gifts or send them back?
Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walking home from our house Christmas Eve
You can say there's no such thing as Santa
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe
(Lord, we believe)
Now the goose is on the table
And the pudding made of fig
And a blue and silver candle
That would have just matched the hair in grandma's wig
I've warned all my friends and neighbors
"Better watch out for yourselves
They should never give a license
To a man who drives a sleigh and plays with elves."
Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walking home from our house Christmas Eve
You can say there's no such thing as Santa's
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe
Sing it, Grandpa!
Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walking home from our house Christmas Eve
(Minding her own business)
You can say there's no such thing as Santa
(What do you mean there's no Santa?)
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe
Sing it, Grandpa!
Oh
As for me and Grandpa, we believe
(We believe in Santa Claus)
I get up and quickly run to the room. I smile at hearing their laughter but then remember why I ran. I glare at Lucy as she turns with a smirk. She waved at me with Judiths hand to distract me.
"Very funny" She broke me "Why did you have to take the power back?"
"Because I am a Carmichael" I raise a eyebrow and smirk "What?"
"The eyebrow is cause Fran is a bottom" Lucy looks at us shocked and I just nod "It is true"
"Emma runs that trio" Lucy shakes her head and in point to the room "Wanna ask them?"
"I do!" I walk over and pick up Amelia "We are getting them changed and going to ask!"
I chuckle and nod as we change them. Once done we head to the girls room. We knock and Fran opens the door half awake. Lucy pushes the door open all the way.
"Who is the bottom?" Three fingers point to Fran "FRAN! You are a Carmichael!"
"But being in charge can be so tiring" Fran yawns and walks to get her slippers "Why are there three adorable snowbabies here and not down opening presents?"
"Cause Luce refused to believe you were the bottom" I smirk and point to Emma "She is the top"
"Damn right" Emma covers her mouth with wide eyes "Did I just say that? I have been around Santana too much!"
We all laugh and head downstairs. I smile seeing everyone sitting with hot chocolate ready. So far it has been a great Christmas morning. The weather is nice and there are no problems.
The club will come over later and I honestly can not wait. They have been so great since we came back. It helps I am kind of their teacher. I wish mom would give me more time to teach.
But maybe that will change next semester! I am just happy to be with her as a family. I am happy to be with everyone as a family. I feel a present get pushed into me.
"Santana said we had to open these" I take the long box from Lucy "Apparently it is important"
"Oh really?" Santana nods with a smile "Alright"
I take the paper off and see it is a necklace box. I smile and slowly open it. I lose the smile and glare at Santana. She is cracking up right now.
"I figured you two should have jewelry for you next last name!" She starts laughing harder "I-I can..can not believe you two lost! You never lose!"
"Oh Sanny" Santana stops laughing and Lucy points to the karaoke machine "Why don't you bless us with a song?"
"I Uhh" I chuckle as she slowly gets up "Ok"
"Sometimes you having power is good" We both laugh as the music starts "At least it is a good song"
-Santana singing-
"Bah, humbug!" but that's too strong,
'Cause it is my favorite holiday.
But all this year's been a busy blur
Don't think I have the energy
To add to my already mad rush
Just 'cause it's 'tis the season.
The perfect gift for me would be
Completions and connections left from
Last year, ski shop,
Encounter, most interesting.
Had his number but never the time
Most of '81 passed along those lines.
So deck those halls, trim those trees
Raise up cups of Christmas cheer,
I just need to catch my breath,
Christmas by myself this year.
Calendar picture, frozen landscape,
Chilled this room for twenty-four days,
Evergreens, sparkling snow
Get this winter over with!
Flashback to springtime, saw him again,
Would've been good to go for lunch,
Couldn't agree when we were both free,
We tried, we said we'd keep in touch.
Didn't, of course, 'til summertime,
Out to the beach to his boat could I join him?
No, this time it was me,
Sunburn in the third degree.
Now the calendar's just one page
Of course, I am excited
Tonight's the night, I've set my mind
Not to do too much about it.
Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!
But I think I'll miss this one this year.
Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!
But I think I'll miss this one this year.
Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!
But I think I'll miss this one this year.
Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!
But I think I'll miss this one this year.
A has provided me
With the world's smallest turkey
Already in the oven, nice and hot
Oh damn! Guess what I forgot?
So on with the boots, back out in the snow
To the only all-night grocery,
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
In the line is that guy I've been chasing all year!
"I'm spending this one alone," he said.
"Need a break; this year's been crazy."
I said, "Me too, but why are you?
You mean you forgot cranberries too?"
Then suddenly we laughed and laughed
Caught on to what was happening
That Christmas magic's brought this tale
To a very happy ending
Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!
Couldn't miss this one this year!
Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!
Couldn't miss this one this year!
Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!
Couldn't miss this one this year!
Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!
Couldn't miss this one this year!
"Alright" we look over at the moms who are smiling "Can we open gifts now?"
We nod laughing and get into the gifts. I do not really pay too much attention to them though. I mostly look at everyone smiling and having fun. If this was still New York, this would not be happening.
"You ok Rae?" I look at Santana who looks worried "You spaced"
"Just thinking" I give her a real and big smile "Just so happy"
Everyone smiles and we go into helping the little ones. Today is going to be a good day. No matter what we are together as a family. I love these moments with everyone.
I can not wait for what happens next!
