Prompt #41: Tears. Rating: K

Critias hated the tears. He hated any time his boyfriend cried. He wasn't at all annoyed by it like many would think, but he preferred to see his boyfriend smiling and happy. Zigfried wasn't one for hiding his emotions; quite the opposite actually. The German was very open with his emotions and sometimes he let them get the better of him. This time was no different.

Zigfried was sitting at his desk, his head in his hands. His shoulders were shaking and soft sounds were coming from him, showing he was crying. Critias hesitated by the door of the office, then slowly entered. He walked over to the German and gently placed his hand on the other male's back. "Zigfried, love, what's wrong?" he asked softly, kneeling beside the German. Zigfried sniffed and tried to wipe the tears, only for more to fall.

"I'm a failure liebe...… nozhing I do for zhe company seems to go right...…. I-I can't compete vizh Herr Kaiba and his company...…" the German said, trying again to wipe his tears away. "Zigfried...… you don't have to compete with Kaiba...… your companies can both focus on games, but maybe on different aspects of them…" said Critias, gently rubbing his boyfriend's back. "H-how? How can I possibly lead zhe company in such a direction?" Zigfried asked, sniffing.

"Well…. Perhaps while KaibaCorp focuses on tech and digital, Schroeder Corp can focus on helping create physical versions of games… or maybe working on new games entirely!" suggested Critias, smiling. "You mean… create our own games?" asked Zigfried, looking at the blonde curiously. Critias smiled and nodded. "You've been trying to focus on Duel Monsters too long when it's obvious KaibaCorp has control over that…. Why not try helping other game creators bring their games to the digital space or even creating your own games?" he said.

Zigfried thought about it. He hated to admit it, but Critias had a very good point. KaibaCorp basically had a monopoly over tech for Duel Monsters, so perhaps focusing on other games really was the way to go. There were dozens of other games that could be brought into the modern era with tech, so perhaps Zigfried's company could help them. The German wiped the remaining tears and smiled. "You're right liebe… zhank you…" he said, looking up at the blonde. Critias just smiled and kissed his cheek. He couldn't always stop the tears like he had now, but he would always be there when they came.
