Disclaimer - I Don't own Divergent, it's characters and I do not get any money for this fanfiction
Okay!
It's been a long road but this is the final episode of this series. I am currently working on the next season but since my new role (at work) it's been hard to find time and motivation to write so it might take me some time so please forgive me.
So, on wards with the last chapter!
Time for everyone who made it to get their job assignments and apartments. Will they all get what they want or what they deserve?
With breakfast done all new members were walked down to the assignment office where their fates awaited them. Lined up by rank lowest to highest they were first directed to a window to be given their apartments.
They were first asked if they wanted to room with someone or be on their own, if they roomed with someone they got a two or more bedroomed apartment - depending on how many people bunked together -, while if they chose to be on their own they got a one bedroom studio.
"I'm Divergent! Why the hell do I have to get a tiny studio apartment!" Peter growled after receiving his designated apartment.
"Cause no one wants to room with scum." Growled out a Dauntless born.
Peter huffed and turned towards Tris who was standing off to the side. "And what did you get? I didn't see you get assigned one." He bit out.
"I got mine already." Tris replied simply.
Before Peter could remark their attention was called again to gather their job assignment folders. "You have fifteen minutes to go over your options and hand in your filled in form." Called out the assignment officer.
Everyone bar Tris stood in line and received their folders before forming small groups to discuss their options.
"Oh my gosh, oh my gosh!" Christina howled.
"What?" Will asked her curiously.
"I got offered a position as a wall patrol guard!" She practically screamed.
"Congratulations!" Tris and her friends all said in unison.
One by one they went over their options as a group, all amazed that they had all been offered at least one of their dream jobs.
With everyone excitedly handing in their job option quickly they stood around gossiping.
"Oi Stiff," Peter called out, "I didn't see you get offered a job. What, is the number one initiate not good enough for anything?" He barked out with laughter. "While you got offered nothing, I got offered a luxurious job."
Rolling her eyes Tris took the bait. "What did you get offered Peter?"
"Three words, Wall Latrine Officer." He said proudly.
Everyone around him burst into laughter.
"Do you even know what a latrine is?" Will choked out through his fit of laughter.
"Some special officer division?" Peter questioned, now sounding unsure.
"Yeah, special is one word for it." Uriah laughed.
Tris rolled her eyes and looked directly at Peter. "You've been assigned to toilet duty at the wall. Latrine means toilet." She said with a straight face.
Peter's face fell. As he finally read through the duty outline of his job. Flicking through the folder he noticed that he had been offered no other jobs. First he went pale, then he went red with rage as he stormed up to the job assignment officer.
"What the hell?! Latrine officer? That's all I, a Divergent, got offered?" He shouted.
The job officer just looked at him blankly. "It's up to the leaders and department heads as to who gets offered what." He drawled out as he stretched out a hand, "Now if you have finished filling out your form I'll file it."
Peter scrunched up his filled in form and threw it at the officer before storming past Tris.
"Hey Peter," Uriah called out to him. "Aren't you curious about what job Tris got?"
Stopping Peter turned and glared expectantly at Tris.
"I'm a future leader." Tris smiled at him. "Which automatically comes with the best apartment." She said, mimicking what Peter had said to her on their first day.
Peter practically screamed his frustration as he stormed out of the room, laughter following him. When everyone had finished filling in their forms and were handed their apartment keys they all breaked to go relax till lunch.
After settling into her new place and finding where everything was, Tris wasn't surprised when she found all of her friends at her door, wanting to investigate her new place.
"Wow Tris this is so amazing!" Christina gushed. "We could have some amazing sleepovers here!"
"Agreed." Marlene chimed in.
"Do you even get your own office?" Uriah interjects.
"Yeah." Tris nods, "But to begin with Max wants me following him and the other two leaders."
"That is way cool." Uriah shouted, jumping on her couch.
Lynn stood in the corner of the room giving Tris a calculated look before she finally spoke up. "You got us all our dream jobs didn't you?"
Everyone in the room stopped to look between Lynn and Tris.
"Lynn that's silly talk, Tris has barely started her leadership role, do you really…." Marlene began but Lynn cut her off.
"Doesn't anyone else find it weird that we all just happened to get offered our dream jobs? Hell I got offered to join almost every guard detail there is."
Tris turned her head to the side with embarrassment, "I didn't exactly do what you think I did." Tris said as she finally looked up at them, "Your names were already on most of the job applications, I just gave them my two cents." She flushed and looked away again. "I just wanted to make sure my friends were happy and I wanted to do something for all of you since you guys helped me out so much during initiation."
The room was silent for a moment before Uriah shouted. "NAW! Six is so thoughtful! Group hug!" Then darted towards Tris.
Everyone was quick to follow suit and soon Tris found herself surrounded.
"Okay, okay. Enough with the thanks." Tris squealed as she tried in vain to push everyone away.
Laughter erupted in the room at Tris' antics till a knock came through the door. Everyone froze at the voice on the other side.
"Tris. Max wants to see you before we make the announcement." Eric called through the door.
Sighing Tris made her way to the door opening it.
"Can you give me a minute while I get my things?"
"Sure, if you're not busy after lunch I'd be happy to go over tomorrow's schedule with you." He quirked an eyebrow at her.
"That would be good, thanks." Tris replied as she stepped back to get her things.
"After that we could…" Eric trailed off as he noticed the others in her apartment, several of whom had grins on their faces while others were stifling laughter. "What?" He growled.
"Nothing, nothing." Uriah wiped away some tears threatening to fall. "We were just leaving." He said as he motioned for the others to follow him.
After they had all left Eric turned to Tris, "What was that all about?"
"You know Eric, I have no idea." Tris smirked, "Shall we?"
She followed him down to Max's office where they briefed her on how the speech would go and what they expected from her. With everything set they made their way to the mess hall and the railed bridge above it.
Everyone sat below them loudly laughing, joking and eating their food. Tris was standing off to the side, just out of sight as Max's voice called out, demanded silence and was instantly granted it.
"Dauntless welcomes its new members with open arms as you begin your journey through its ranks." He looked out over everyone below before continuing, "With that being said I would like to introduce to you all your new leader in training. Six, step forward."
Tris stepped forward and was greeted with a roar from the members below.
"Six has already proven herself to have what it takes to be a leader and in time I hope she can show that to you all too."
Tris stepped forward and addressed the crowd with a bow. "I will do my best."
Tris could hear her friends below going wild amongst the sea of Dauntless, knowing that they supported her brought a smile to her face. Her journey had only just begun.
I will be uploading an extra chapter in the coming weeks with an insight into Alice. I've rewritten it twice already... still not happy with it.
I can't believe it's all up! Thanks to everyone that has stayed with me and read along for the ride. It's been fun ^_^
Special thanks to Owlthewriter for reviewing almost every chapter. After each chapter I looked forward to hearing from you!
I would love to hear from peeps and what your favorite parts were. I'm still doing the frame work for the next season so if there's anything you want to desperately see, if it ties in with my current story line it might make it in. ^_~
Please note it also took me 2 years to write this before I even started uploading it.
