Chapter 40: Changes in The Pack Part 2

The wolves and the elders left except for Paul, Seth, Leah and I. Paul approached me, and he stopped half-way before reaching to me. I knew then he wanted to show physical affection for me, but wasn't sure what to do, so I reached my hand out to him and asked, "Can you help me get up?"

He quickly helped me get up, and I attempted to hug him despite of my heavily round belly getting in the way. Good thing he was taller than me, so he was able to bend over and hug me a little bit with his arms wrapping my upper back. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and I gave a little tug. He bent over and I gave him a peck on his cheek.

I looked at his face and he was beaming with joy. Damn. It kinda makes me feel bad for being strict on physical affection, but I ..need to slow the intensity between us for my own emotional he needs to understand what he did was really not coo…. I said, "Be safe, and I see you home later."

He with a frown, "But who is going to take you home?"

Jacob chimed in, "Seth will take her home, Paul. Don't worry, we will bring your mate back home safe and sound."

Paul nodded, "Thanks Jake."

Paul pulled away slowly, and he walked toward the back door. Then, Jacob called out, "Paul, is it alright if I stop by the house to talk to Ale for tribal negotiations to deal with the Cullens?"

Paul didn't turn around, and he gave a big sigh of relief as he said, "It's fine. I am rather happy that she won't be home alone. Thanks, Alpha."

He phased to his wolf form and head toward the forest to catch up with the others in patrol. Seth and Leah went by my side as Jacob went in front of us. Jacob was the first one to speak, and he said tiredly, "Seth, I am giving you the task to take care of Ale whenever Paul is gone from patrol or his job up until she gives birth the first pups of this pack. It is an important responsibility; would you be up for the job? I know you are in school, so I want to see if you would be fine?"

Seth was shocked, so he said, "Oh, I don't mind being there for Ale. I like being with her, and I can do it Jake. You can trust me with her, but not to question you but why me?"

Jacob paused as if he is trying to be careful with his words, "I don't know for certain, but my wolf spirit keeps telling me that you need to be around Ale for the next few weeks. I can guess that something is going to happen, and you will be needed to be by Ale's side, so I won't question the spirits. Is that fine Seth?

Seth said cheerily, "Sure, at least I can get to eat more of Ale's cooking" then he said with a puppy-eye look, "Unless...unless that is okay with you, Ale?"

I smiled sweetly, "It's not a problem, Seth. You can be my guinea pig with my cooking, so for dinner, I can feed Paul."

We both laughed, and Jacob looked at Seth. Seth's eyes widen and he had a look an understanding, so he said quickly, "I, uh, will be outside in my mom's truck waiting for you Ale! Bye."

That was odd. Jacob approached me and Leah, but he didn't stand literally in front of us. There was space between us, then I realized he was giving space for Leah. Leah had her arms crossed, and her shoulder was really tensed. She was looking down with an unreadable expression.

He said, "I thought by having Ale here, it'll help you feel more comfortable around me.. I didn't want to corner you..So how did your spirit walk go?"

She tensed, took a step back, and gave me a hesitant look. She finally sighed and said, "It was…nice."

Her shoulder sagged when she finished that sentence. She paused for a moment before continue saying, "I got to talk to my dad..he helped me understand why I was chosen…how things were really going without the alpha female in the pack,.. the..ignorance of the elders for pushing Emily to be a alpha female when she isn't, and what the role of the alpha female entails…so I accept the role..but as in for being the Alpha's mate.." She trailed off.

"I….need time. I won't reject you Jake because I feel your sincerity and I got a glimpse of the future that we can have together and it is what I wanted…...so I know now ..it's not just the imprinting bullshit convincing us that we were meant to be together.. but, I ..can't jump in a relationship with you so soon" Leah said hesitantly.

Jacob gave a understanding smile, "Thank you, Leah..That means a lot. I will go as far you want me to go. If you want to be friends or comrades as Alpha Male and Alpha female, I can deal with that as well. I am anything you want me to be, whatever you need me to be, and I will respect you as you deserve not because you are the Alpha female and my mate, but as who you are Leah."

He looked at her with such gentleness and kindness that I think Leah didn't know how to respond to that. I think she is still scared to give her heart away after it was trampled by Sam and everyone else, so with glassy eyes, she gave a curt nod to him.

She turned to me and asked edgily, "Did you know? That this was going to happen?"

I shook my head, "No. It..didn't happen in the original timeline, so I didn't know for certain. I had my suspicions, but I didn't want to say anything when nothing might have happened. I wasn't sure that you would accept it because it was also your choice too, Leah. Even though you have been called to be Alpha Female by the spirits, you still get to choose at the end..I didn't want my opinions influence your decisions because of the friendship that we had built so far. I wanted you to decide genuinely coming from your thoughts and feelings. "

She nodded slowly. I am glad that she didn't accuse me of holding back or lying to her with the bond that we barely have together. I didn't want our friendship to be thrown to the fire because she became Alpha Female, and I didn't warn her about it.

Jacob gave a big release of breath and said, "Alright..it's getting almost midnight. It's best if we go to bed. It's been a long night. And Ale, I will be coming by your place to talk to the Cullens through the phone to do negotiations since it would be too dangerous for you to meet them in person" as he looked down to my pregnant belly.

I laughed shyly, "Yeah…the pups really don't like the smell of vampires."

He agreed, "Yup."

He gave a shy glance to Leah, "Do.. you want to join, Leah?"

She shook her head, "Nah, it's fine. I don't need to be there. I trust Ale and her decisions. Either way, I feel the urge from my wolf spirit to check..the other imprints, so I'll be doing that tomorrow. Just show me later in the packmind, kay?"

Jacob nodded with a grin, "sure, sure."

Leah rolled her eye at him from his upbeat response, then she heads motioned me to start following her. We said our goodbyes, and Seth was waiting patiently in the truck with the radio playing really loud. I liked that Seth tried to give Jacob and Leah some space, and he attempted to not be secretly snooping on us. Leah helped me get on the truck. Leah was the one driving as I was in the passenger seat and Seth was chilling in the back seat.

As we drove to my house, I just thought about how.. relaxed Leah is. She still has a scowl in her face, but she doesn't look like she is desperate to runaway with a hollow look in her eyes. She doesn't look like she is in her fight or flight mode either. I don't know what happened in her spirit walk, but there was this peace in Leah. I just can't help but feel very sentimental for Leah. I feel honestly happy for her that..she is doing better. She got her justice that she so desperately needed, and she is getting the attention and work that she deserves that Meyers didn't give her. I hated that Meyers in a way created her to be simply a tragic character with no proper ending for her in the series.

Sigh. If others who cherished the series, see how much everyone has changed and had gotten better, how would they react? If they have read this version of the series, what would have they thought about all of this? Especially those who were rooting for Leah and Jacob despite the terrible hate for the characters because of how they played out in the series. It wasn't their fault, but Meyers. She didn't handle them well. Damn. I need to stop, or else I might actually start crying, and I don't want Leah to do well with an emotional pregnant lady. Lol.

Tears started dripping from my face. Uh Oh, too late now. I heard Seth sucks in a breath. He said panickily, "What's wrong?" as he got closer me and held my hand to comfort me with both of his big hands.

I shook my head as I try to wipe my tears away, but it just kept on coming, so I said, "sorry, I am having a hard time controlling my emotions. I'm..just happy?"

Leah asked softly, "About what?"

I said, "I'm…just happy for you, Leah..I can see that..you're more at peace with yourself. I don't know what happened in your spirit walk, but I could tell that it was effective."

Seth and Leah didn't say anything, most likely shocked by what I said. When I said that, she already drove up to the house. She stopped the truck, parked it, and she had her hands wrapped very tightly on the wheel. She had her head lowered, and she said, "..you don't have to cry for me..you know.."

I said, "No, Leah. Don't demean yourself like that. You deserved so much, to see it all in front of me. It just makes me..so happy" as I continued to wipe my tears away. She finally got out, and she opened my door. She gave a half-smile with a eyes showing a glint of thankfulness and said, "..come on. If Paul finds out about you crying, I'll have to deal with a pissed mated wolf."

I chuckled lightly, "okay" as I finally dried myself from the tears and she helped me get down. Seth called out from the truck, "Night, Ale see you later on tomorrow!"

I smiled as Leah walked me to the front door of the house. I said, "Thanks."

Leah shrugged her shoulder and said, "it's fine…well, good night."

I smiled tiredly, "Night Leah" as I got into the house. For the babies to grow so much in a short period of time, it had made me more tried to carry them as I walk around the house. Thankfully, they were sleeping during the whole meeting, so they didn't disturb me or move around so much. I didn't feel like putting my pajamas on, so I just took my dress off and I am going to sleep with my underwear on. I got on the bed with the baby-making blanket covering me. Paul's smell on it makes me feel at ease and feel like he is in bed with me.

I was laying on my side when I saw my phone. I looked at it, and I thought of an idea. I could talk to Rosalie to see what really brought them back to Forks like what did Meyer's magic do to influence them to come back despite of the great risks. I could talk to them casually before talking to them formally with Jacob. It would've been weird that my first time talking to them would be for business.

I gave a call to Rosalie, and Rosalie picked up quickly with a hesitant "..Hello?"

I said, "Hey..it's been awhile.."

She sighed, "Yeah. A lot has happened.."

I asked, "What happened? How come you didn't tell me?"

She said, "I.. don't know what happened during Edward and Bella's honeymoon, but once Bella got pregnant. Out of nowhere, Bella started saying that she wants the baby to born at the same place where her parents first met, she and Edward got married and where they found love. She was very persistent even more than usual. It looked like she was possessed by something, and even Jasper thought something was off with her. For some reason, Alice was persistent too…I demanded them that it was a bad idea, but Edward..he wanted to make Bella happy, and Bella was so sure that you would be able to protect us and Jacob, once he comes back, he would be able to protect them as well. With the constant arguing the family had, it was stressing Bella and the baby out. So, we stopped, just accepted it and we moved back to Forks…..I didn't want Bella to have the baby without me..As her godmother, Bella asked me if something happens to the family, me and Emmett should run and raise her baby in her stead… We were fed to the fullest and came back quietly to the house, so we can be okay without being fed for 3 weeks. Once we got to Forks, Edward destroyed my phone, so I won't have any contact with you. We stayed there for two weeks without leaving, in hopes that the wolves won't find out. When Bella was very close to hitting her 9 months, that is when Sam came. Bella tried to talk sense to him, but that mutt wasn't listening.

Then, when the mutt gave us the ultimatum that if we don't abort the child by sunrise, he'll come to attack us, the family argued for a long time. We argued whether we should take the baby out now, turn Bella and run, or stay and fight. The family eventually agreed that we will wait at the very last hour before we make Bella deliver the baby early and change her. The birth was quick, and it was a little girl…such a precious baby. We named her Renesmee. Emmett and I were packing to flee with Renemee when that little mutt Jacob showed up..

..He has..changed ..he told us that he became Alpha and He'll protect us from Sam and the pack. He told us that we were manipulated by someone's magic to come back to Forks despite of all reason. It made sense of Alice and Bella's change of attitude…He also showed Edward some vision that he got from ..his spirit walk or whatever you guys called it. Edward believed it and Jasper agreed that Jacob was telling the truth, so we stayed together in Forks as we wait for Sam. Once they showed up, he gave a huge roar and it made all of them to stop and bow down. Whatever it went down with them, it stopped. Jacob turned back into his human form and bowed to us in an apology. He apologized for his pack and his actions, and he wishes that we won't take it against them, and he wants to remain peaceful with us. Typical Carlisle, he agreed and that is the last thing we had heard from Jacob…

She wrapped up, "I am so sorry, Ale. I didn't want to bring you into this mess since you are pregnant yourself..how was things in your end?"

I sighed, "It was a disaster. I knew they were going to be upset and angry, but from being influenced by Meyer's magic, it took up a notch. They wouldn't listen to anything that I have said. I got a similar vision like Jacob, and I tried to talk sense to them, but they weren't having it..I admit I was upset that you didn't tell me, and it made things complicated for me with the pack..but I was so scared and worried for you. I thought I didn't do enough to help you guys, but I am so thankful that Jacob came just in time… I am so glad that you guys are okay."

Rosalie said, "I'm sorry, Ale. ..Genuinely, I am. Did they do anything to you?"

I proceed to tell her what happened, the rough sex Paul and I had, the fertility claim, the babies growing up at a faster rate, and I told her that Jacob reprimanded all the wolves severely and in a satisfying way.

Rosalie growled lowly, "He deserved every bit of it. Making you to give a blowjob and while pregnant? Scum. I'm glad Jacob took a chunk out of him."

Once I told her that I forgave him, she said bewilderedly, "And You forgave that mutt? Huh.. you're too much of a goody two shoes.. I wouldn't forgive that easily hehe, and I would make him pay for what he did."

Oh, I have no doubt. Knowing what she did with her rapists, she would've cut off Paul's balls or even worse. I chuckled, "Oh he is paying for it. I told him that he aint getting sex from me anytime soon."

I heard a booming laugh in the background, I knew that was Emmett listening in the background, and Rosalie laughed as well.

I added sadly, "But…."

She said dramatically, "but?"

I said unsurely, "I..don't know if it is because of the pregnancy, but..I don't know how long I am gonna resist."

When I said my goodbye to Paul, I wanted to kiss him goodbye, but if I did, I don't think I would have control myself and I would actually start getting horny knowing myself.

I could hear her smirking through the phone, "hm..mm. If I wasn't a vampire and hadn't met my Emmett, I would've gone for someone like Paul. He is a snack, but…it be best if you don't frustrate yourself too much. It could be harmful for the babies. You got to get your feelings wrapped up soon, Ale."

I sighed, "I know..I know..I gotta let it go for myself and for the babies" as I gently caressed my heavily round belly. I am probably being weird or something but it's just so fascinating how round I am and how much my skin can stretch to accommodate all of the babies. The wonders of a human body, I suppose.

Trying to change the subject, I asked, "How is everyone else?"

Rosalie said, "You can ask them yourself" as she passed me along to Esme, Jasper, and Emmett. They were very polite and happy to hear back from me. Rosalie told me that Carlisle went to buy more blood for Reenesme since she is only drinking human blood mixed with her formula, so I didn't get the chance to talk to him. We catch up from everything that has happened the past two weeks, and it felt nice to be able to talk to them casually. I have forgotten how kind they can be, and Alice finally came to the phone to speak to me.

She said, "Ale..I need to apologize for how distant that I have been with you after..Bella got banished from the reservation. I was upset for Bella, but I shouldn't have taken it out on you. It wasn't your fault, it really was Edward's fault and you tried to help us even when we didn't speak to you for the past two weeks. I am sorry."

I said, "Yeah…no lie it was pretty messed up that you guys allowed Edward to cut all communications from me…I haven't done anything to deserve that…knowing Edward, it might take decades for him to change his ways or never since y'all are vampires..but I am glad that everything is okay now…it's okay Alice… Just don't do it again, there is limit to how much I can forgive.. Either way, where is Edward?"

Alice said shyly, "Oh.. he is taking care of Reneesme."

I said, "mhm" not impressed at all. Then Esme and Rosalie both talked to me through the phone, telling me everything that I need to have for the babies, what to look out for, and everything. It was useful, so I made a note on my phone to talk to Paul all about it later on in the morning.

I yawned very loudly, then Esme said gently, "I think we kept you up late a little too late, honey. We can talk more tomorrow with Alpha Jacob. Good night."

I heard a collective goodnight from everyone in the background, as I said my farewell and hang up the call. I turned over to my other side, and I fell asleep soundly.

I know I am late, but my internet got cut off for awhile. I also added a conversation with Rosalie instead of dividing it into two chapters. We finally got the reason of why and how the Cullens came back.

The next two/three chapters, we will be wrapping up Breaking Dawn!
