Volume 4 Chapter 1: Dr Wily's Revenge
2 weeks later
Deep within the Emerald Forest lied the Smash Mansion, a building that once lay in ruin, but now with the amount of people that had found their way to Remnant it had become a lot livelier. And so, it also become possible for there to be some small practice matches that could be held between anyone who was interested in trying to hone their skills. Which brings us to the present with Sonic, Olimar, Rock, Snake, Lucas, Ness, Duck Hunt Duo and Pyra/Mythra having an eight fighter match, with all of them being on their last stock.
Sonic charged up his spin dash, and upon unleashing it he managed to land a hit on Olimar and Snake who got knocked off the stage which was the newly created Cloud Sea of Alrest. But luckily Olimar was able to use his Pikmin to fly back onto the stage, while Snake tried to use his flying drone to fly himself back onto the stage. Only for the head of the dragon, on which the stage was located, to move out of the way. Causing Snake's drone to run out of fuel, and this led to Snake falling off the stage again while shouting "Cheap shot Hedgehog!"
Sonic then taunted "You're too slow!", only for him to get hit in rapid succession by Pyra's Flame Nova. Which delivered several flaming slashes from her blade, and lead to him being launched off the stage. He tried to recover, using his spring jump but was shot out of the air by Rock's charged shot. Leading to Sonic also being eliminated from the match, while the Duck Hunt Duo laughed at him in a taunting manner.
But then the Duck Hunt Duo was then caught in a combo attack from Lucas, who used PK Freeze to stun the duo in place and launch them towards the edge, and Ness who used his PK fire to launch them off the stage. The duo tried to recover by flying back onto the stage, but Ness used another PK fire and the Duck Hunt Duo was also eliminated from the match.
Pyra then switched to Mythra, who used Photon Edge in rapid succession on Lucas who got launched further and further away with each consecutive hit and on the final strike he got launched off the stage as well. But it left Mythra right open for an attack, which came from both Rock shooting out a crash bomb at her and Olimar shooting a purple Pikmin at her. The resulting explosion was powerful enough to launch Mythra into a multiple walls, before knocking into Olimar and getting launched off the stage.
Olimar was stunned for a bit, which allowed Rock to shoot out a charged shot at him. The charged shot hit Olimar, and launched him off the stage taking him out of the match. Rock was now able to focus on Ness, but before he was able to do anything at all he got hit by several PK Fire attacks from Ness. Causing him to get stunned, leading him to become unable to counter attack and causing him to get launched off the stage as well.
The group was then taken to the results screen, with the announcer exclaiming "GAME! The Winner is... Ness!" After which the simulation ended, and several annoyed groans were heard.
The group of fighters left the training room, in order for them to meet up with the people that were watching the match. And on the way out of the room Rock complained "Seriously Ness, again with the spamming of PK fire. See, this is why I hate fighting against you."
Ness shrugged and replied "It's not so bad, it could have been much worse. You could have been fighting against Meta knight or Bayonetta at their most powerful."
"See, this is why we need the hands at least they kept things balanced and didn't allow for people to constantly their attacks." Grumbled Snake in annoyance.
"I have to hand it to the kid, he's got spunk." Said Mythra, as she and Pyra unfused and became two people again.
"Besides, Sonic also gave us a lot of trouble during the match." Said Olimar.
"What can I say, it's all about speed." Said Sonic, as the duck hunt dog let out some mocking laughter.
"What matters is that we had fun." Mumbled Lucas.
"Yeah, besides it's only training. We shouldn't take it too seriously." Said Pyra, causing several people to burst out laughing "What? What did I say?"
Snake chuckled and replied "Kid, it's clear that you're new to this whole thing. But lemme tell ya something, these things can get highly competitive."
Pyra got a flustered look on her face and replied "Kid? KID! I"m older than all of you combined! And so is Mythra."
The group then once again burst out laughing, which Pyra decided to ignore as the group met up with everyone who was watching the match unfold. Rock was immediately met with his teammates walking up to him, and Ruby exclaiming "ROCK! That was so cool, you were all like bam bam bam and they were all like swoosh swoosh, and then you lasted until the end and it was so awesome. And all those weapons, oh my gosh they were so cool!"
Ruby then hugged Rock, who got a flustered look on his face and thought to himself "Too close." After which he replied "Thanks Ruby, but could you please let go of me! I'm feeling really uncomfortable."
"Oh, sorry." Replied Ruby, who let go of her teammate. She then noticed that Blake was looking really tired and let out a yawn, so she asked "Blake, you alright you look kind of tired."
"I'm fine, really." Said Blake, who then let out another yawn.
"Aww, what's wrong Blakey did you spend all night reading your pornography?" Asked Yang.
Upon hearing this Weiss gasped and exclaimed "Yang! Not in front of the children!"
"Oh come on Weiss, I was only joking. Besides, I'm sure that these children don't even know what I'm talking about." Replied Yang.
"Actually, I'm thirteen." Said Ness.
"Yeah, and I'm fifteen. And we kind of know what you're talking about." Said Lucas.
"You're... but... wait... but you're both so short!" Exclaimed Yang with a flustered look on her face.
"People can come in all kinds of shapes and sizes." Replied Lucas, silencing Yang.
Blake then let out another yawn and replied "Well if you must know, I wasn't reading my books. Which for your information are considered literature, not pornography."
"Riiiiiight, and CoMiC BoOk MoViEs ArEn'T CiNeMa." Replied Yang in a joking manner.
"My point is, I wasn't up all night reading. I just had this weird dream where I was in this old looking city, fighting against some girl who got pissed at me for not listening to her. And it ended with me breaking my aura, losing my right arm in a strange feeling of deja vu and then killing the girl. After which I tried to fight the giant that was attacking the city, only for me to get eaten by that giant afterwards. I wasn't able to get sleep after that, so I'm a bit tired." Replied Blake.
"Was there anything of note in that dream?" Asked Ruby.
"I had short hair... and an outfit that helped me out against the cold. Like we had been staying in Atlas for some reason and needed the outfits." Replied Blake.
"Silly Blake, we're not going to Atlas for a long time." Said Ruby, as she winked at the audience.
"Weird, I had a similar dream where I was fighting against a girl with red hair in what seemed to be a cathedral. I lost, but I didn't die just got frozen solid by the girl and my weapon broke as a result." Said Weiss, ignoring Ruby's comment.
"When was that?" Asked Blake.
"Couple days ago." Replied Weiss.
"Huh, so you guys got the death match dream as well? That's interesting." Said Rock.
"What do you mean?" Asked Ruby.
"Before everything went down with the end of the world on our end, we kept track of whoever had those dreams and a lot of fighters ended up in a similar dream like situation where they fought people to the death. Some only had one minute to fight their opponents, and some took part in races that ended in all but one of them dying." Said Rock.
"Really, did you ever fight someone to the death in your dreams?" Asked Ruby.
"Twice, one time was against a half naked robot with guns in his butt and the other time was against four different versions of myself. I ended up losing both fights." Said Rock.
"Oh, that sucks." Said Ruby.
"I know, but hey they're only dreams." Said Rock.
"You know, now that you mention it I had a similar dream where I ended up fighting against some barkeep in a fight that looked really poorly animated with lots of flashing lights. I ended up winning, but a lot of people were very angry at me in the dream." Said Yang.
"Wait a minute, a barkeep." Said Sonic, as he used his speed to dash out of the room and then returned with a picture in his hands, which he showed to Yang as he asked "Is this the person you fought?"
Yang took a look at the picture, and then said "The girl with the padded gloves was the one that I fought, do you guys know her?"
Snake nodded and said "Yeah, the one in the middle with the big sword..."
"Compensating for something." Joked Yang.
"...Is named Cloud, and he brought his friends over to the mansion from time to time."
"So you think I'll be able to fight her for real?" Asked Yang.
"Sure, if we somehow end up finding him then I'm sure you'll be able to fight her." Said Mewtwo, who floated into the room.
"Oh hey Mewtwo, how is the search for the other worlds going?" Asked Snake.
"Haven't been able to find anything whatsoever, but I'll keep looking." Said Mewtwo, who then turned to Yang, Blake and Weiss and said "So you all had those dreams over the course of the last couple of weeks right?"
Blake, Weiss and Yang all nodded, while Ruby said "I haven't had that dream yet."
"I'm sure you'll have it sooner or later, but the important thing is that this does prove that the missing worlds are still out there." Said Mewtwo.
"So you're saying that multiple people in the mansion, before everything happened, had those dreams?" Asked Blake.
"You could say that." Replied Sonic. "Out of the people here me, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Mewtwo and Snake had those dreams."
"That's pretty weird." Said Weiss.
It was then that a memory hit Ruby and she exclaimed "Wait a minute, I did have one of those dreams. I was fighting agains this guy in a spider costume, and... ended up... losing... yeah, forget I said anything." Ruby added awkwardly.
"So, what you're saying is that if that they show up that I'll be able to fight her?" Asked Yang, as she remembered Mewtwo's previous comment.
"Yes, that could be a possibility." Said Mewtwo.
"Why do you want fight against Tifa anyways?" Asked Rock.
"She gave me a good challenge, and I never back down from a fun and challenging fight. She'll be my worthy opponent, and our battle shall be legendary!" Exclaimed Yang, as she punched the air.
"But... it was just a dream, the fight wasn't even real." Said Weiss.
"Making me want to fight her even more." Replied Yang.
"Good to hear that." Said Ruby with a bit of sarcasm in her voice, who then heard her scroll go off and saw that she had gotten a message from Jaune telling her that a lecture was starting in fifteen minutes. Seeing that Ruby exclaimed "Uhm, guys we have to get back to Beacon that lecture doctor Light was giving starts in about fifteen minutes."
Weiss looked at the clock in the room and said "We're not going to make it back to Beacon in fifteen minutes."
"Don't worry, I'll teleport you back to the school." Said Mewtwo, as he held his hand out and pointed it to Team RRWBY and some blue energy teleported them away.
Back at Beacon Team RRWBY got teleported into their dorm room "Thank you for choosing the Mewtwo teleportation service, be sure to rate us five stars on our app." Joked Yang.
The group then noticed that Blake was looking a bit frizzled, so Weiss asked "Are you alright?"
"Yeah, totally fine... Just gotta get used to it, ya know." Replied Blake in a dizzied stated before falling face first onto he ground and onto a pillow that Rock had placed there.
"I'm sure there is still enough time to help her get over this, right?" Asked Ruby.
"We still have around ten minutes until the lecture starts, I'm, sure we'll be fine." Said Rock.
Later
Team RRWBY had made their way to the lecture hall and luckily had found a place to sit next to Team JNPR due to the room being filled with the entire students body which included the students from the other schools, and while they were waiting for the lecture to start they talked amongst themselves with Weiss turning to Rock and asking "Rock, please don't see this as nagging. But I'm wondering, did you catch up with all the work you missed?"
"Don't worry Weiss, I know that you care in your own little way. But yeah, I caught up with everything and even managed to pass all the exams I had missed. Though I will say, not all the recordings made by the teachers were helpful." Replied Rock.
"How come?" Asked Ruby.
"Professor... I mean Doctor Oobleck talks too fast to understand at times, and Professor Port... You know how during his lessons he likes to include personal stories in his lectures?" Asked Rock, to which Weiss and Ruby nodded. "Well, each recording had around ten of those stories. So you can imagine how many of those stories I had to sit through, while catching up with nearly a month and half of missed lessons."
"Rock, you did get enough sleep in these last two weeks. Right?" Asked Ruby with concern in her voice.
"Don't worry, I had some help from Professor Goodwitch to organise my schedule, thankfully all the teachers prepared for me returning. So in the end it all worked out as I have now caught up with all of my school work while still getting enough sleep." Replied Rock.
"Good to hear that." Said Ruby.
"Well, at least you now know how Fox feels." Said an unknown voice behind them, the trio turned around and saw that Coco and Team CFVY was sitting behind them.
"What are you talking about Coco?" Asked Weiss.
"You rookies know how Fox is blind, right?" Asked Coco, to which the trio nodded "Well, he also needs to listen to recordings to help him study and... well he also has to suffer through Ports personal anecdotes."
"Well that's unfortunate ." Said Ruby.
"I know, that's why we always study together. To make sure Fox doesn't give up on studying." Replied Coco.
"That's really nice of you." Said Weiss, to which Coco nodded after which the group continued their conversation.
In the meantime, in the row in front of Team RRWBY the four members of Team CRDL were mumbling amongst themselves in annoyance. "Can't believe we have to sit through a lecture like this on a Wednesday, we don't even have that many classes today." Mumbled Cardin.
"I know right, we could have been binge watching that edgy reboot of that one cartoon from ten years ago." Said Dove, as Russel and Sky nodded in agreement.
"Pfft, you guys watch those bad reboots of that cartoon from ten years ago?" Asked Yang, while trying to hold in her laughter.
Team CRDL turned around to face Yang, and Cardin replied "You got a problem with that, Xiao Long?"
"Oh no, not at all. Just surprised that you jerks like those shows." Replied Yang.
"In our defence, we only watch those bad reboots to make fun of them. You know, point out the bad writing, poor characterisation and all the other bad things." Replied Russel.
"Yeah what he said, besides if we weren't here we would have been watching the season finale of that show. See the main character had left behind his friends to go and fight the main villain, which he'll probably do with the power of friendship." Said Cardin.
"So you guys do that as well huh?" Asked Jaune, joining in the conversation.
"You and your team also watch those bad reboots of cartoons Jaunie-boy?" Asked Cardin.
"Not entirely, we kind of got hooked on this Atlesian soap opera that has been going on for the last forty years. Ren and Nora got the rest of us hooked on it, and now we watch it whenever we have time to do so." Said Jaune.
"But if it's been going on for forty years, how can you catch up with something like that?" Asked Yang.
"Oh it's not that difficult, me and Ren told gave them some notes on the show. And also the show tends to reuse it's plots, besides all the characters except for the rich business owner, his wife and their children have been replaced at this point." Said Nora.
"So you guys watch it and make fun of the stories and the acting?" Asked Yang.
"Yup, the soap is now in a storyline about the estranged mother of a main character returning into their life." Said Nora.
"But doesn't that kind of plot happen in every season?" Asked Russel.
"It does, see what I told you about them reusing their plots." Said Nora.
"Maybe our team should do something like that." Said Yang, whose attention was then caught by the lights in the room turning off and the ones on the stage turning on. The lights revealed Doctor Light standing on stage in front of eight large robots. One that looked like a bouncy ball, one that looked like a torch, one that looked like an ice skater, one that looked like a brick wall, one that looked like a test tube, one that looked like construction equipment, one that looked like it could power an entire city and one that looks like it could explode at any moment.
The room fell silent and Doctor Light spoke up "Greeting students and teachers of Beacon academy, I am Doctor Thomas Light, roboticist and inventor. Some of you have seen me around campus from time to time, some of you have heard of my inventions and some of you might have heard about my exploits over the years. But right now, I'm here to teach you about robotics and maybe inspire you to take better care of the world or something like that."
"Anyways, nearly twenty-two years ago I started my study into robotics and got an interest in creating robots with the ability of the independent thought, then twenty years ago I decided to focus on making robots with independent thought that could help society in tasks that are too dangerous for people even if they have their aura unlocked. Like being able to traverse the deepest parts of the ocean, or explore the coldest parts of the Solitas tundra or help with the dangerous parts of construction like electrical wiring."
"Anyways, over the course of the last twenty years I built many robots and even inspired others to follow a similar path, and although things haven't always been easy, the eight robots standing behind me are the result of twenty years of research into giving robots the ability for independent thought."
"And now that I have explained that, I'll open the floor for questions. Who wants to go first?" Asked Doctor Light, only for several explosions to be heard going off outside.
A door then opened, revealing Qrow who called out to Ozpin "Professor, robots are attacking Beacon!"
Upon hearing that Rock exclaimed "Robots... Wait a minute, WILY!" After which he donned his blue armour teleported out of the room.
Seeing this, Ruby turned to her teammates and team JNPR and said "We need to help him." After which the rest of the group nodded, and they all left the room through one of the doors to get their weapons and switch from wearing their school uniforms to wearing their new combat uniforms.
As that group left the room Ozpin turned to the student body and said "You are all dismissed from this lecture, you are hereby given permission to use your semblances and weapons against the robots. Now go!"
Upon saying that, the rest of the students quickly dashed out of the room to go and get their stuff, with some of the teachers going after them and some staying behind to keep Doctor Light safe as they knew why Wily was here.
20 years earlier
A young Thomas Light and Albert Wily are in front of the committee of the Atlesian robotics university, with Thomas finishing his explanations to the committee "...And due to there being no evidence that Alberts research would actually help, as well as it being shown that it harms robots more than it helps them. I strongly believe... that Alberts research must stop."
Albert grumbled in anger and replied "Dammit Light... why must you do this! We can't build a future on your empty optimism."
"Say what you will, I cannot agree with your research. So please listen to me." Replied Thomas.
"NO! You listen to me! At every turn you've ignorantly blocked my research!" Exclaimed Albert, as he was getting angrier.
"Mr Wily, control yourself. The committee agrees with Mr Light and will therefore choose to help fund Thomas Light's research into independent thought within robots. Thank you, everyone." Said the Chairman of the committee of the Atlesian Robotics university.
"Why? Why are you fools so blind!" Exclaimed Wily, as he threw his prototype system onto the ground. After which he turned to Thomas and yelled "You will rue this day Light, one day... you and the rest of the world will know that I was right all along." After which he stormed out of the room, leaving the committee with shocked looks on their faces and Thomas with a look of slight guilt on his face.
1 week and 1 day earlier
It was then that Doctor Wily woke up from his dream, and then grumbled to himself "Ugh, memories from twenty years ago. And why did I think about that day. I can't be having nightmares, a genius of my caliber needs sleep to keep his brain in gear."
Wily then got to thinking and said "But then again, I never did end up using that project in any of my schemes."
He then let out a dark chuckle and said to himself "Oh Light you old fool, I told you would rue the day that you caused my research to be shot down."
3 days earlier
In a base near Vale Wily was working on preparing for his newest plan when the main door to the base opened, revealing Watts and Cinder in the doorway. "Ah, I was wondering when you two would show up. Has everything been arranged?" Asked Wily.
"It has, I made a new virus for Cinder to use and made sure that there would be eight robots for you to use at Beacon when the plan gets enacted." Replied Watts, whose eye then fell on the project Wily was working on. He walked over it and asked "Is this the project you've been working on?"
"It is, and with it robots should be able to be pushed to their highest potential." Replied Wily.
"Very interesting." Said Watts, with a slight hint of sarcasm in his voice.
"Yes, now if Cinder could make sure to not mess up her part of the plan that would be great." Said Wily.
"You better watch yourself Wily, you're on thin ice." Said Cinder, as she lit up a fire ball in her hand with a sadistic look on her face.
"Careful now Cinder, wouldn't want your anger to cause this to go wrong. I would hate to have to explain to Salem that you're anger is the reason why the plan failed." Said Wily, with a mocking tone in his voice.
"Shut up." Grumbled Cinder in annoyance, as she put the fireball away.
In the present
Rock was making his way through several rows of Sniper Joe's by getting behind them and firing a charged shot from his buster, and when he took care of them he saw Wily's flying capsule in the sky and made his way to it, so he could take Wily out. But his path was blocked by several robots, and several robot masters. Rock then thought to himself "I'm not sure how I'll be able to do this on my own."
It was then that he heard Ruby call out to him "Hey Rock! Don't worry, we're here to help you!" So he turned around and saw that both his team and team JNPR were running at him, all of them wearing new combat outfits. Ruby was seen wearing red gloves to help keep a grip on her weapon, dark red shorts that ended at her knees, the same shoes she wore with her previous outfit, a dark red jacket with pockets that were a lighter colour red and her rose emblem on her jacket and her cloak which had remained the same for her with her keeping the belt of ammo from her previous outfit.
Weiss was seem wearing white pants with a large black belt, a lightish blue undershirt, with a white jacket that had light blue sleeves, the large collar from her previous outfit had been reused to be able to close with a button and was made larger to create a somewhat small cape, with the shoes she wore in her previous being reused and her symbol was still on her back. While the entire outfit was chosen by Weiss to be practical and still allow for easy movement.
Blake was seen wearing black boots with purple soles, pants that were a mix of black and purple colours and had her symbol on the side, around her hips was a purple piece of fabric, an open white jacket that revealed a black blouse and around her arms were several black ribbons. Another ribbon she was using to cover her ears, as she was still not comfortable showing off her ears.
Yang meanwhile was still wearing her old boots, but it was difficult to see as the boots were covered up by dark blue pants with each leg having a yellow dragon on them, she wore an orange tank top with a dark blue jacket, that still revealed her midriff and had rolled up sleeves that showed the inside of the jacket being yellow, with the jacket also having a yellow dragon plastered over it and with Yang symbol being put on the sleeve of both of her arms.
Jaune was now seen wearing blue jeans that covered up his brown boots, with a black belt with a golden buckle which had his symbol on it, he was still wearing his Pumpkin Pete hoodie, but it was completely covered up by the armour Jaune was wearing, which covered up most of his torso and fully covered up his arms and shoulders at the insistence of Pyrrha who wanted to be sure that Jaune was protected. Not much had changed about the armour, other then that some bronze had been incorporated with the help of Pyrrha who helped Jaune look for a way to make his armour stronger. Jaune also now had black gloves instead of orange ones and had patches of metal on his hands that would allow him to punch his opponents in the face.
Nora was now seen wearing pink combat gloves that helped with wielding her hammer, pink shoes, with stockings that were rows of pink and white, a skirt that started off being pink but then turned into a dark blue colour which carried over into the dark blue jacket with some pink patches on it as pockets and her symbol it's back, she wears a belt with buckle with her symbol it, her left arm was sleeveless but her right arm had pink sleeve that gave support to her arm to ensure that she wouldn't hurt her arm while in combat.
Pyrrha was wearing shoes with some small heels, with armour on her legs that covered her ankles and lower legs, with the armour that once covered her upper legs being removed and replaced with stockings to allow for more movement for Pyrrha, she also wore a skirt that covered up the rest of her lower body, her armour from her previous outfit was still being used but this time the armour extended to the rest of her upper body with it covering her chest, neck and shoulders to make sure she wouldn't be stabbed through the heart by an arrow, and under that was a black shirt. She now also wore black gloves on both of her arms, her shield was still on her side and the red piece of fabric from her previous outfit was used as a scarf for her.
Ren was wearing dark green fingerless gloves that helped him wield his weapon in combat, has dark green shoes, long green pants and a dark green sleeveless overcoat that was purple on the inside and which had patches of purple on his shoulders, and was wearing a black satchel in which he stored extra ammo and snacks in case Nora ever got hungry while they were out in the field for a longer period of time.
The group had reached him, while he saw that the rest of the student body was fighting against sniper joe's that were on the ground, flying or walking around in the big walkers. Rock looked at all of them and said "You guys look great, I really like the new outfits. They really fit you guys."
"Thanks." Said Ruby, as she had a slight blush on her face.
"It's pretty and practical." Said Weiss.
"Don't worry Rock, we'll help you. Even if you don't want us to." Said Yang, as Team SSSN and Team CRDL joined the group.
It was then that Wily's flying capsule appeared in front of them, opened and revealed Doctor Wily who said in a mocking tone "Would you look at this, it looks like you've made some friends. But that doesn't matter, you won't stop me."
Sun turned to Rock and asked "Is he always this overconfident? I'm sure we'll beat him."
"Quiet monkey." Said Wily.
Cardin chuckled and said "I like him already."
"Cardin, you can either behave or you can piss off. Your choice." Said Rock with an annoyed tone in his voice.
"I'll be good." Muttered Cardin.
"No matter, you won't stop me. Robot masters, attack!" Wily yelled, as his flying machine flew into the sky and a group of robot masters surrounded the group of first year students.
"Oh look, a robot that looks like a matchbox. This should be fun." Said Neptune as he aimed his weapon at Heat Man and took aim. The group then nodded in agreement and went after the robot masters. The entirety of Team SSSN went after Heat Man, who turned himself into a flaming pillar and flew away to create as much distance between him and his pursuers. But Scarlet, Sage, Neptune and Sun ran after the robot.
"You can't run from us forever!" Yelled Sun, as he and his team chased after the robot who shot out several fireballs at the team, which they quickly dodged by moving out of the way. The fireballs landed on the ground, and caused explosions on the ground.
"What the..." Exclaimed Scarlet, as he then used his gliding ability to move out of the way of more fireballs that were shot his way.
Team SSSN then heard Rock call out to them "Careful, that's atomic fire. It burns like you wouldn't believe!" after which he continued fighting against some robot mummies being send his way.
"Thanks for telling us that now." Said Sage with an annoyed tone in his voice, who used his blade to block some of the fireballs being shot his way.
Heat man then materialised in front of them, and taunted "How can you even harm me, if you can't even touch me?"
It was then that Neptune was able to fire a shot at the robot with his weapon try hard, which managed to stun the robot giving Scarlet and Sun the ability to fire several shots from their weapons at the robot after which Sage used his blade to slice the robot in half, destroying it and leaving it's memory chip on the ground.
In the meantime Team CRDL was fighting against a robot in the shape of igloo and had to get out of the way in order for them to not be caught by the robot. They just dodged Frost Man's ice punch by jumping out of the way of the attack. Making Russel remark "This thing is too powerful, how do we do this?"
"Same way we always do things, by ganging up on people." Replied Cardin, who used his mace to slam into Frost Man creating an explosion and hurting the robot in the process. Cardin let out some laughter to mock the robot, but by doing so he let his guard down allowing Frost Man to grab Cardin by his legs and lift the man into the air.
"Don't hurt him!" Yelled Sky, Dove and Russel.
"Too slow, and now... I shall break him." Replied Frost Man, who then raised Cardin over his knee and got ready to slam Cardin onto his knee. But thankfully Russel and dove were able to stun the robot by firing blasts from their weapons which stunned the robot, while Sky used his axe to slice off the arms of Frost Man which freed Cardin. Who used his mace to bash in the head of Frost Man, which caused the robot to explode and left its memory chip on the floor.
Team JNPR in the meantime were individually fighting against four different robots, Jaune was currently fighting against Knight Man and was using his shield to block the flail that the robot was shooting at him repeatedly. Jaune tried to counterattack by rushing at the robot and slashing at his opponent. He was able to land a few hits, but the last hit was blocked by Knight Man's shield who then said in a mocking tone "You can't beat me boy, I have fought a thousand battles and won ever single one of them."
Knight man then launched his flail at Jaune again, who managed to dodge the attack and use his sword to slash through the chain and managed to disarm the robot. Making Jaune reply "Rock beat you, and now so will I." After which he rushed at the robot and stabbed it in the torso making Knight Man say "Well done, you beat me. You were a worthy opponent." After which Jaune sliced the head of Knight Man off, causing the robot to explode and leaving its memory chip on the ground.
Jaune then saw that Pyrrha was having some trouble in dealing with Centaur man, who was shooting out centaur arrows at Pyrrha from its arm canon. Which were deflected by Pyrrha's shield, after which Pyrrha used her spear to strike at the robot, who defended itself by using its horns block the attack. He then knocked Pyrrha backwards, giving her the opportunity to turn her spear into its gun form and take several shots at the robot all of which landed. But now Centaur Man was able to use its arm canon to fire several shots at at Pyrrha.
This stunned Pyrrha, giving Centaur Man the opportunity to dash at her and try to impale her with his horns. Only for the robot to get sliced in half by Jaune catching the robot in midair with his sword. This caused the robot to explode, and left behind a memory chip. Jaune flashed Pyrrha a smile, but was greeted with Pyrrha giving him a bearhug and saying "Thank you Jaune, I couldn't be happier to see how much you've improved."
"Don't sweat it Pyrrha, you would have done the same." Replied Jaune, after which Pyrrha let go of him and the two saw that Ren was struggling against the robot he was fighting, as he was able to dodge the attacks from Yamato Man but due to the spear from the robot he was unable to land any of his shots due to them being deflected by the robot's weapon being in constant use. But he was able to dodge the spear point being able to move out of the way by using the using the wires in his weapon Stormflower.
So they decided to help by having Pyrrha block the spear of the robot, giving Ren the opportunity to launch himself at Yamato Man. This knocked the robot over, but before Jaune was able to dismember the robot, Yamato Man got off the ground and began to slash his spear at Jaune, who was able to deflect the the attacks with his own sword and shield. But this left an opening for Pyrrha to launch her spear at the robot, which impaled the robot and caused it to fall over.
But to their surprise Yamato Man stood up, bowed to the three of them and said "Well done, you learned the meaning of teamwork. You have my eternal respect warrior." After which the robot exploded and left behind its memory chip. Ren then turned to his teammates and said "Thank you for helping me out."
"Don't worry about it Ren, we're a team. We'll always help each other." Said Jaune, after which the trio looked on as they saw Nora fight against Cloud Man and seemed to be having some trouble. "Should we... should we help her?"
"Maybe we should..." Said Ren, only to fall silent when the group saw that Nora got struck by lightning from Cloud Man. Which powered her up, and the extra power allowed her to jump in the air and used her hammer to slam Cloud Man onto the floor, squashing it in a similar vain to cars getting squashed in a car compacter at the junk yard. The robot then exploded and left behind its memory chip. "Or maybe not." He said, as the trio saw that Nora waved at them with a cute smile on her face.
The group then watched on as they saw that Team RRWBY was fighting against Galaxy Man after having dealt with the robot mummies. But they were having trouble, as the robot was too fast and able to dodge their attacks. And anytime they tried to get close the robot would set off a small black hole bomb having them try to get out of the way as fast as possible to avoid getting sucked in.
Seeing that there was no other option, the group nodded at each other and Blake launched herself at the robot using her shadow clones that were infused with fire dust which created explosions when Galaxy Man crashed into them. And while Blake was doing that, Weiss had summoned a glyph in the air while Rock was charging his buster. After he had done so, Rock fired his charged shot along with a shot from Crescent Rose and Ember Celica through the glyph which all merged into a giant shot infused with ice. It then launched at Galaxy Man, which managed to hit the robot causing some electricity to start crackling out of it. But then it created a black hole bomb right in Blake's path of dodging the attack with her shadow clone, causing her to get sucked into the black hole, which then vanished.
"Blake NO!" yelled Team RRW_Y and Team JNPR who saw it happen. Only for a blinding slash to cut the robot in half, which revealed Blake standing in front of them and looking very tired. The robot exploded, and left behind its memory chip.
Blake then collapsed her knees in exhaustion, but was caught by Yang who exclaimed "Blake! But how? You were sucked in!"
"I used my shadow clones to escape... but now... now I'm tired." Said Blake.
Yang chuckled and replied "This is rich coming from me, but you're an idiot. We thought we lost you for a second there."
"I know, but you're not getting rid of me that easily." Replied Blake with a smile on her face.
"Someone finally got a sense of humour." Said Yang, making Blake punch her in the shoulder with a weak punch.
It was then that Rock was given the memory chips of the seven defeated robots and got the messages "Atomic Fire obtained" "Centaur Arrow obtained" "Knight Crusher obtained" "Yamato Spear obtained" "Thunder Bolt obtained" "Ice Wave obtained" "Black Hole Bomb Obtained"
"Huh, Centaur Arrow and not Centaur Flash. Weird, maybe I'll find the other weapon at some other point in time." Said Rock, who then got an excited gleam in his eyes and said "Doesn't matter, now I've got your powers." As he raised his fist in the air as a victory pose, only for him to get punched in the face by Pharaoh Man.
"Forgot about someone Mega Man?" Asked Pharaoh Man.
"Pharaoh Man? That really hurt!" Exclaimed Rock.
"Wouldn't be the first time I managed to punch you in the face." Replied Pharaoh Man who started to charge up his pharaoh shot, which created a large ball of energy that was floating over his head.
"Well then, bring it on! Blake, close your ears." Yelled Rock, as he switched to the atomic fire and began to charge it up to it's fullest potential which created a very loud noise that was annoying on Blake's ears. And upon it reached it's maximum charge he fired it at Pharaoh man, who shot its pharaoh shot at the atomic fire blast, only for the atomic fire to go through the pharaoh shot to pass through and continued going towards the robot. Who then pulled up its shield in a panic, with the ball of atomic fire going into the shield.
Pharaoh man hoped that his shield would hold against the blast, but the heat and power of the atomic fire blast began to eat through the shield and after a few seconds the shield got melted through by the heat of the fire. After which it collided into Pharaoh man, and the robot got caught in an explosion creating smoke. When the smoke cleared it showed Pharaoh man being melted to the floor.
Rock walked over to the robot and said "You really thought you could stop me huh?"
"Oh shut it, you only managed to beat me thanks to your friends." Replied Pharaoh man.
"Yeah, but you still..." Said Rock, while Pharaoh man exploded and left behind its memory chip "...lost." He then grabbed the memory chip and got the message "Pharaoh Shot obtained."
"Hey Rock, you ok? Don't you have more than eight weapons on you right now?" Asked Ruby, with concern in her voice.
"Don't worry about it, I took the weapons used for training match out before we went to the lecture." Replied Rock.
It was then that Wily's flying machine appeared in front of them, and Wily's voice was heard coming from it saying "Well done beating the robots, but I doubt you'll be able stop my plan."
Ruby then stepped up with Crescent Rose in her hands, and replied "I think that I speak for Rock when I say that I'm getting really tired of you." After which she spun Crescent Rose in her hands at rapid speeds, then she threw the rotating scythe at the machine which managed to hit it multiple times, causing it to fall out of the sky and explode upon landing on the floor. The collision launched Wily out of the machine, landed him on the floor and made him start beginning for forgiveness.
"Please, spare me. I'm a helpless old man." Pleaded Wily.
"I will, now stand up so I can bring you in." Said Rock, who began to charge his buster. Only for Wily's body to explode, which then revealed Wily's head on a spring dancing around in a mocking tone. Making Rock ponder "A dummy? But where is the real Wily?" After which a thought hit him, and he exclaimed "Dad!" After which he quickly ran back to the lecture hall, with his team and team JNPR following right behind him.
After a bit of running he made it to the lecture hall, and when he got there he saw that Wily had used his machine to crash through the ceiling and had managed to restrain the teachers with an electrified net and had managed to capture the eight robots from the lecture in an energy field. All the while aiming a laser canon at Doctor Light, when the real Doctor Wily saw Rock enter the room he said "Ah, Mega Man. Long time no see, but I'm afraid you're too late. I already caught the robots."
"Why are you doing this Wily?" Asked Rock.
"I recalled some old research that Thomas here shot down years ago, and now I'm going to use that research. Now I know that you'll try to stop me, so I'm giving you a choice. Save your dad, or save the robots its your choice." Said Wily, as he fired a shot of energy at Doctor Light. Which Rock quickly shot out of the air with his buster, but in doing so he gave Wily the opportunity use the speed gear in his flying machine and managed to escape with the robots.
Rock, seeing this, exclaimed "He got away, we have to go after him!"
"Unfortunately we don't know where he went, so right now there is no way to track or find him." Said Thomas.
"But how did he get so fast?" Asked Rock.
"I'm not sure, but I have a theory..." Said Doctor Light, who got interrupted when Proto man entered the room holding onto the double gear system that came from the fake doctor Wily.
"Hey dad, I found something interesting in the wreckage of the fake doctors vehicle." Said Proto Man.
"If that is what he used, then I'm going to need to even the playing field if I'm going to be able to stop him." Said Rock.
"I see that you're eager to go after Wily, so I won't stop you in your quest for justice. Proto give us the device, so I can install it into your circuits." Said Doctor Light.
"No, I'm not going to be doing that. Rock doesn't deserve to have this, not after he had gone soft." Replied Proto, holding onto the double gear system.
"Proto, now is not the time to be jerk. Give me the device!" Yelled Rock.
"If you want it so bad, why don't you fight me for it. Show me your resolve" Replied Proto, who released a flurry of rapid shots from his buster which Rock managed to dodge. After which get got behind some of the chairs in the room, and began to charge his buster and upon doing so he fired a shot at Proto which landed. Causing Proto Man to put up his shield, as rock launched himself at him to try and get a few punches in. But thankfully Rock was able to get behind Proto, and shoot a charged shot into his back. Which angered Proto enough for him to put his shield down, and made him begin charging up his big bang strike. Which Rock noticed, and when Proto got ready to fire the shot he rushed over to him and pulled Proto's arm up so the shot would hit the ceiling. Proto fired the shot, and it hit the ceiling which caused chunks of it to land on Proto who was unable to avoid the attack due to the firing of the big bang strike doing damage to his body. Being unable to move meant that Rock had won, and was now facing Proto.
Rock looked at him and exclaimed "Why did you do this! Why did you make me do this!"
"I was trying to test your resolve, after what happened with Merlot and you getting captured I began to question your ability to act." Replied Proto.
"My resolve... MY RESOLVE! I always do what is right, I always go after Wily and put a stop to him. You now gave him a head start, think Proto think! There is nothing wrong with my resolve, and what you did was just stupid. You know what, I don't care how you get repaired, just stay out of my way on this one." Said Rock, with an angry tone in his voice.
"I'm sorry Rock." Replied Proto.
"You better be." Said Rock, as he took the double gear system from Proto, walked over to Doctor Light and said "Better get this installed in me, can't let Wily get too much of a head start."
"Then let's get this installed, but it might take a while so be patient." Said Doctor Light, as the two of them made their way over to the lab.
2 days later
After two days of hard work done by Doctor Light had succeeded in installing the double gear system in a safe and functional way into Rock, and was now explaining the situation to him. "So you see, the gear system can increase power, speed or both but you have to be careful to not over do. Also, it might take some getting used to something that pushes you to your limits. So I recommend that you take it easy for now."
"Thank you dad, anything else you would like to tell me?" Asked Rock.
"Yes, we found the locations of all eight robot masters and have a way to get you to each of them." Said Doctor Light.
"Then we should get going." Said Rock, after which the door opened and his teammates stepped into the lab. Rock greeted them and said "Are you guys here to see me off?"
"Nope, I..." Ruby said, only for Weiss to cough "I mean, we as a team made the decision to join you on your adventure to stop those robots."
"You will do no such thing, I'm going on this adventure alone and you guys are staying here." Replied Rock, with a stern tone inn his voice.
"We just want to help you." Said Blake.
"Yeah, no need to be so mean." Added Ruby.
"Besides, it will be just like hunting Grimm." Said Yang.
"It's not, these robots are smart and strong. They aren't mindless husks like the Grimm, they can think of tactics to take you out. Take it from someone who has been doing this for the past fifteen and a half years, I know what it's like to fight Wily and I won't let any of you get hurt while trying to help me. So stay here, I'm not letting any of you go with me." Said Rock.
"Unfortunately, you don't really have a choice in that matter." Said Ozpin, as he walked into the lab and said "You see, you opted to stay at Beacon. Which means you are still under our jurisdiction, seeing as you are still part of Team RRWBY it means you will have to do the mission as a team. You can't leave them here, and if you do you'll be in a lot of trouble. Is that clear Mr Light?"
Rock stayed silent for a bit and then replied "Fine, I understand." After which he turned to his teammates and said "You four can join me in this mission, but the moment I think that you any of you are in too much danger I will not hesitate to send you back to Beacon and finish the adventure on my own. Is that clear?"
His teammates nodded at the question, and so Ozpin said "Excellent, you are hereby given permission to leave Beacon grounds and the other kingdoms have been made aware of your mission. I will leave you to your own devices now." After which he left the room.
Rock then faced his teammates with an annoyed look on his face, to which Yang playfully punched him in the shoulder and joked "Come on Rock, this will be fun. An adventure across remnant, just the five of us as a team. What could possibly go wrong?"
Rock sighed, looked at the screen which showed where on Remnant the robot masters were located and replied "Maybe you're right, maybe this will be fun. Anyways, time to start the mission."
A/N: So that was a fun death battle episode, as well as a really cool episode of the Super Mario Bros Z reboot. I mean if that is what episode two got turned into, then one can only imagine what epic spectacles episodes five and six will be turned into.
So yeah, this took a bit longer very sorry about that. But hey, the chapter is out and I hope you were all able to enjoy reading it. Cause it's the start of a new volume for this chapter, a volume that has mega man 11 as its main focus. It's going to be a lot of fun, so stay tuned for more. All I'll be saying is that there is a lot planned, the arc is going to be long and a lot of fun stuff will be happening.
