"They are good" I turn off the tv and look at the frowning group "We did our best though! No matter what I think you all should be proud!"

"You all did great" We look at the door to see Blaine "You definitely are giving us a run for our money"
"So Kurt really did leave" He nods with a frown "I'm sorry"
He shrugs and walks in "It is what it is" He takes a seat beside Rachel "You all should have your heads up! You all did great"
"Easy to say when you were on the winning team" Lucy shakes her head "We are toast"
Blaine gives me a look and I shrug. It's up to him if he wants to try and cheer them up. He is quickly out of the room. After a minute he's back with their beat boxer.

"That was amazing!" The lights flicker and I point to the door "Let's get out there!"
Everyone runs out and I look at Blaine "You guys have been great" He smiles brightly "Take it as my thank you"
I nod and follow out to the back stage. We all slowly file out to the stage. The crowd cheers and the kids wave out to the crowd. The announcer slowly makes his way to the mic.
"In this envelope I have the placements!" The crowd cheers loudly again "In third place...Golden goblets! In second...wow...by one vote..McKinley Trouble tones!"
It's like everything moves in slow motion. Only two warblers seem to really celebrate their win. I look at the kids who look destroyed right now. The warblers come over minus the two.
I watch as the kids shake hands in front of me. We had it in the palm of our hands. But I failed them with this. I got so wrapped up in my own things and failed.
"Shelby?" I turn and look at Lucy "You ok?"
"Yeah" I give a small smile and step toward back stage "Celebrate with your friends"
I ignore my name being called as I walk off.
I wipe the tears that start falling down. I failed them because I let them be alone. I should have been their teacher.
"Looks like you did so good" I glare at William who has a smug smirk "I have my school in Nationals! Looks like I was better than you!"
"I guess you were" I walk past him "Good job"
I walk to the green room and grab my stuff. They have a ride with Judy and Maribel. I just need to take a drive and clear my mind. I walk to the door to see Rachel staring at me.
"Mom?" I failed "Where are you going?"
"To clear my mind" I walk up to her and cup her face "I'll be back home ok?"
I don't wait for a response and walk away. I just can't be here right now. I failed them as their teacher. I failed as the only thing I needed to be.
Now I got to figure out what's next for me.
