When Greyback's pack attacked Hogsmeade most of the professors had gone to help; they were much closer to the small village and able to respond much quicker than the Ministry. Before leaving the school Albus had increased the strength of the wards and locked each of the Common Rooms to prevent night-time wandering around the castle. Leaving the castle in the capable hands of Filius and Pomona as well as a couple of other professors he'd hurried down to the village to offer his assistance. What met his eyes when he arrived in the village was carnage, someone had set an anti-apparition ward over the village and the residents of Hogsmeade; many of whom were either elderly or else young families were no match for Greyback's pack. Buildings were on fire and multiple bodies littered the main street. Those that hadn't been able to apparate away before the ward was erected were fighting as best, they could as they attempted to get to one of the floo's within the village, with such a small population many of the residents didn't have their own floo's within their homes.
"Fucking hell," Sirius cursed at his side before casting a severing curse at a wolf that was chasing a young woman who clutched a child in her arms as she ran. The wolf let out an agonising howl as it was sliced in half.
"Mother of Merlin," Minerva whispered staring in horror at the once peaceful street.
"Don't just stand around," Severus hissed at them as he rolled up his long black sleeves exposing what remained of his Dark Mark on his left forearm and a leather holster on his right, with a flick of his wrist the holster released his ebony wand into his hand and Severus was off firing curse after curse at the Werewolves in the village along with Sirius. Minerva still in her tweed dressing gown hurried into the fray her greying curls escaping their dark bun as she cast spell after spell to help the villagers, Albus looked down at the Elder wand in his hand and fired curse after curse at the enemy.
"Sectumsempra, watch out you silly old dog," Severus yelled after dismembering a wolf that had been approaching Sirius.
"Avada Kedavra, watch your own back," the curly-haired wizard replied as he hurried forward to pick up a small girl who had almost been bitten by the wolf he had just killed.
"I want my mummy," the girl wailed, trembling where he held her on hiss hip as he fired curses with his over arm.
"Shush, your okay," he tried to sooth her, the girl couldn't be older than four.
"Lydia, Lydia," a woman screamed as she stumbled towards them, dragging a mangled leg behind her.
"Mummy," the little girl wailed.
"Lydia, your okay," she whispered relieved as she pulled the girl from his arms.
"Mummy your hurt," the girl whimpered.
"I'm okay, so long as your okay," the woman told the girl.
"Miss, we need to get you both out of here, that's a nasty bite, you need to get to the hospital," Sirius told the woman, firing another curse towards a werewolf that was emerging from an alley, blood dripping from its lips.
"Thank you for saving her," the woman told him as he led them towards the Three Broomsticks, that Minerva and Rosmerta had managed to secure.
"Don't mention it, Lydia luck after your mummy," he told the little girl before the pair stepped into the floo. Once the pair were safe Sirius hurried back out into the village to find that the Ministry had arrived; Aurors and the Werewolf Capture unit were firing at the wolves while a team of curse breakers worked to bring down the anti-apparition ward. In the centre of it all Albus stood casting streams of curses effortlessly. A beam of light appeared before the headmaster, materialising into a large lion Patronus that shook out it's mane and pawed at the ground, the lion opened it's mouth as though to raw but instead a males voice emitted from the spectral lion; "Professor Dumbledore there is a werewolf climbing the wall that leads to the top of the Astronomy Tower," the voice spoke calmly but Sirius could hear that it was laced with an edge of fear.
"Fuck," Sirius cursed as he ran towards Honeydukes Sweet shop, running into the store he quickly headed into the stockroom and descended the stairs into the basement of the store, shifting the stone that concealed the tunnel he and the other Marauders used to sneak through Sirius shifted into Padfoot and ran as fast as he could towards the school, hoping that he'd get there before the werewolves got into the castle. Using four legs instead of two got him to the Gunhilda de Gorsemoor or one-eyed witch statue much quicker than if he had been in his human form but as soon as he stepped through the passage into the Third Floor of the school, he knew he was too late. In his Animagus form his senses were much stronger and as soon as he was in the school the stench of werewolf and fresh blood burned his nose. Whimpering worriedly, Sirius followed the smell of the blood down through the school to the Library on the First Floor, there lying on the floor a in a pool of his own blood was Theodore Nott, the kid had been bitten and his face bore the distinct three slices that Greyback clawed into his victims after making them a werewolf, the same marks Remus had worn since he was attacked as a small child.
"Hang in there kid," he told the boy after shifting back into his human form, using his wand to speedily seal the boys wounds. Theo opened one eye, staring brokenly up at him.
"Behind you," the boy crocked, his eyes rolling backwards. Sirius reacted instantly throwing up his strongest shield charm that the dark werewolf charged towards him. The wolf was repelled across the room but soon regained its feet, growling viciously as it stared across the library at him, its red eyes, the same colour as Theo's blood that dripped from its mouth, its teeth bared and ready to rip into his own flesh.
"I'm going to enjoy killing you, Greyback," Sirius growled his voice more dog like than human as he raised his wand to fight.
