"Steve; rise and shine." Sabra's hand gently shook cap's shoulder. He awoke. She looked down at him with a smile. "You okay?" "Yeah. I'm fine. Got some good rest. Didn't think I would given this bed." She shrugged. "There you go. Come on. We have a busy day ahead of us."

She started for the door. Cap swung his feet to the floor and sat on the bed's edge. "Sabra." "Yeah." He exhaled. "I…sensed your attraction for me last night." She just looked at him. "Angel senses." It took her a moment to process that but then she took a few steps closer to him and nodded. "Yes. I do find you quite attractive Steve. Is that wrong?" "No. It's just…" "you're with agent Carter." "That's right." She nodded. "Right. I uh, I'm sorry for that…" "don't be. It's just I have these angel senses and…" "no need to explain cap." She sounded formal all of a sudden. "We'd better get back to work." He nodded. "Right."

She left. Cap sat there at the bed's edge and thought about that. If he were truly a bad guy in that sense; or perhaps more promiscuous; which he could be easily with his looks and build; he could bed them both or have a long term threesome. Not my way though. He was a one girl kind of guy. Old school there maybe. Plus he remembered back in the day when being the frail guy no girl ever looked at him at all; thru no fault of his own. He'd never resented women for that. Just hadn't considered dating a priority as a result. Buck got all the girls back then. Mister dark and mysterious the women had called him. Bucky still had that appeal to them now.

But the women waited around the block to be with cap now too. His becoming nomad had only intensified that appeal he'd heard. His becoming the rebel bad boy had made him much more complex and interesting. Not that he was aiming for that; but it didn't hurt either.

Cap exhaled and stood. He donned his turban and went outside. There Sabra was talking with the female villagers. She gave him a quick glance as he came out. She went back to talking to the others without much delay.

A village sentry walked over quickly to him. "There's trouble at the western poppy fields." "What's going on?" "A patrol of ours went out there but didn't come back."

Cap focused and reached out with his power. Iranians… "thanks." He went over to sabra and told her. She looked at one of the former Taliban technicals. "We could go out there and engage them. Use that Spartan shield on them like Leonidas of old." He grinned at that. "Sounds like a laconian plan." It had a certain poetic justice element too. For Thermopylae… and they weren't dealing with outnumbered mere mortals this time around…

They mounted the best technical and rolled out. Cap manned the Bfg while sabra drove.

Xxx

It took them about two hours over the rough unpaved roads but they finally got there. Cap reached out with his power to better scan over them to get an idea of what he was up against. The American Spartan (another nickname to cap's ever growing list) indeed detected they were Iranians. Or Persians as cap's time had called them. He still called them that.

Sabra slowed behind the tall poppies that were ripe for harvest; using the tall field for cover. "Steve?" "They're baddies all right. Persians." She laughed a little. "Old school huh?" "I'm from the forties. Give me a break." "Head on?" "Hell yeah." "Here we go…"

She hit the gas. They cut through the fields. They still had stealth surprise. But not for much longer. Cap sighted in for the closest Persian technical and fired.

Molon labe goat screwers…

The auto fire hit the baddie engine block and blew the vehicle to hell. The American Spartan was now determined to avenge the 300 Spartans of Thermopylae as well.

My pleasure; brothers… Hercules would have approved.
