A/N: since I think that I was grasping at straws on Game of Life, I decided to document the supposed events that can support this pairing.

Chapter 4: Bridging the gap [part 3]
As Byakuya watched Renji attacked Rukia almost mercilessly, he had the urge to protect her, but stopped himself.
For it's not appropriate for him as a hunter to protect the criminal.
No matter who she is to him.
The law is above himself. And he knew that Rukia knew the consequences of her actions.
And because of that, this time, he can no longer keep her safe.
For she had violate a law, that was the pillar of Soul Society and the Gotei 13.
And therefore, she has to accept her punishment.
"Kuchiki taicho" Renji called out to Byakuya as he shunpoed towards them.
Rukia felt shivers run down her spine as she turned around.
"Nii-sama" she uttered in fear and apprehension.
"Rukia" Byakuya called out her name, missing the sound of her voice, but suppressing his emotions from showing. Knowing that, there is no way to help her out.

"I see" Byakuya stated as a conclusion, after seeing Rukia desperately run towards the human boy.
It caused a bitter taste on his tongue, admitting that Kaien still has a special place in her heart. Heart that had forgotten him, when he could not.
"he looks just like him" he added, knowing that he nailed her real intention.
At Byakuya's words, Rukia felt weak. The acute judgment had cut through her reason.
And hearing it from him, felt like a sin.
A sin that she has not repented yet.
