Chapter 43 – The Party
The party was in the other garden near the Senate Plaza. The round tables were all decorated with the flowers, and lights of many colors above them. On the edge of the reception party there was a band that was playing some nice music, and on the other side, a long table with the food and in the center the wedding cake, decorated with blue and green frosting, as a tribute to Luke and Ines lightsabers, which made Ines and Luke smile, and on the other edge was an open bar.
As the sun started to set and the lights illuminate the place, everyone was having a good time.
As the music was playing, people kept talking, some of them were sitting on their tables eating, others were at the bar, others were at the food table, holding their plates, choosing the food they wanted to eat.
Luke and Ines were at the food table, choosing the food they wanted. Ines had taking out the veil, so it wouldn't stand in the way. Luke had some food on his plate, when Ines grabbed a type of dark brown bread
"Babe, that Wyvern Bread. You don't like that bread, eat that one, it is your favorite"
"But that Wyvern is really making me want to eat it" she said grabbing a piece and eat it, "It taste so good"
Luke looked at her smiling.
"But you always hate it"
"Well I think our Ben loves it because I can't stop eat it." she replied eating another piece, making Luke laugh
"I will never understand pregnancy"
"Neither do I, and I'm the one carrying your child" she smiled, when Wedge appeared near them
"Hey, look it is the bride and groom. I have to say, the party is amazing. The food is delicious" Wedge said to them
"I'm glad you are enjoying my friend" Luke pat his shoulder. Seeing Lando passing nearby, Luke called him "Hey Lando"
Lando smiled with a glass of Cider Rage and approached them "Hey, it is the new married man and his bride." he said and looked at Ines "I told you he wouldn't take his eyes from you with that dress"
Ines nod, not saying anything since she had a mouth filled with Wyvern Bread, a food she hated since she was a little girl, and now she couldn't stop eating it.
"I have to thank you actually. She looked stunning" Luke agreed looking at his wife smiling at her. For him she looked beautiful no matter what she wore tonight. She looked amazing right now with her mouth stuffed with a food she always detested.
"Where is Han?" Lando asked
Ines pointed to the dance floor.
On the dance floor Han was holding Leia, while they were dancing.
"I didn't know you could dance so well" Leia said smiling at him, which made him smiled back.
"As you can see this scoundrel is full of surprises" he winked at her and gave her a quick kiss. "I have to say you also look very beautiful with that dress. The most beautiful of the party, right after the bride. I have to say Lando has some taste"
Leia laughed at it, but he was right. Han looked at her
"Maybe you need to ask him to choose your wedding dress"
She looked at him
"Are you proposing to me"
"Not really cause today is Luke and Ines day, but who knows, after all I'm full of surprises" he winked at her, making her smiled as he kissed her.
It was around 9pm when Han climbed to the stage
"Excuse me, may I have your attention please"
Everyone stopped talking and looked at him. Taking a deep breath he looked at the crowd.
"Today is the day of two great friends that I have to say I couldn't imagine I would have. 4 years ago, when I met those two, it was a nightmare" Luke and Ines laughed at that, alongside with Han "You have no idea. Never a 19 year old boy and an 18 year old would talk back at me. Especially her. But the truth is right there I saw a connection between them. When Luke destroyed the first Death Star" everyone clapped at them looking at him, who nod a little uncomfortable "and he became the legend he deserved to be, I have to say I felt proud to be his friend. I knew those two were in love with each other and thanks to me, they finally gave their first step in Hoth. I feel lucky to have your friendship. They never gave up of getting me back when I was frozen in carbonite and was taking to Jabba's. All of them got my back. I saw Luke grow up from a whiny farm boy, to this amazing Jedi. While I saw Ines growing from a young girl, who already was a great fighter, I have to say, to blossom into this mature young woman who also turned into a great Jedi. And now they will become parents. Your kid is the luckiest kid in the galaxy, not only because he have you at his parents but he had me and Chewie and Leia and the whole galaxy to protect him. What I have to say, is I never saw such love like the one you two have for each other. You were really meant to be together from the beginning, so as your first dance as husband and wife, I choose a song that it represents exactly your love. So if the bride and groom come to the center of the floor please." Han pointed and Luke grabbed Ines hand and they head to the center to floor, as Han looked to the singers and the band and with a nod, the music started to play.
Luke and Ines were dancing, at the center of the dance floor, while everyone watched them, but for Luke there was only Ines and for Ines there was only Luke, nobody else.
They kept looking at each other, smiling. Their first dance as husband and wife and they were loving it.
"I have to say that Han has good taste in music" Ines smiled
"Just like Lando has in dresses" he replied "You look so beautiful and I can't believe you are now mine, forever and I will never let you go."
"I love you my Luke"
"And I love you my Ines" and they kissed as the music continue.
The night was going with everyone having a great time. Right now Luke and Han and Chewie was at the bar, having some drinks.
"Nice speech Han"
"Hey Luke, after all you and Ines are great friends to me"
Chewie growled in agreement.
As they ask for some drinks, the waiter gave a glass with a green liquid.
"I didn't asked anything" Luke told the waiter.
"That was a gift from one the guest to the groom. It is a Peppermint." he replied
"Oh, that was nice. I would like to thank the person." Luke said grabbing the glass.
"Oh I don't know who it was. It was my co worker who told me that this drink was for you"
Luke and Han looked at each other.
"Well you are the groom, so you deserve a little drink" Han nod, which made Luke nod but he kept looking at the drink. Maybe it was better put the drink away.
He was about to do it, when Ines came closer.
"Oh thank you babe. I'm so thirsty" and before Luke could say anything, she drank the drink that was suppose to be for him. "What is this?"
"Peppermint" Luke told her
"It taste funny, but it was nice" she said.
Luke kept looking at her. Some how he felt the force warning about it and now Ines drank it.
"Can I have a dance with the bride?" Han asked
"I was wonder when I would dance with you" Ines smiled at him and they walked to the dance floor and started to dance while Luke kept his eyes on them.
"Hey" he heard and looked at his left he smiled when he saw Leia "Can I dance with the my brother?"
Nodding he took her to the dance floor and started to dance, but Leia felt he was tense.
"Luke what is it?"
"I hope nothing but I sense something bad will happen, Leia." he looked at his sister.
"The force?"
He nod.
Ines was dancing with Han, for a while, having fun.
"You are good dancer"
"You didn't expect that, did you" he laughed, making her laughed, when she started to cough. Han frown "Hey kid, are you okay?"
Ines looked at him. Somehow she felt like she couldn't breath. She couldn't even talk, trying to gasp for air. Han started notice this was serious
"Ines"
"I …. can't…. breath…" she whispered
"Luke" Han yelled caught Ines in time when she fainting, making everyone stop what they were doing, even the band stop playing.
Luke ran towards them. He knew it.
"What happened?"
"We were dancing and all of the sudden she started coughing and couldn't breath"
Luke reached Ines and closing his eyes, he probing with the force he saw it
"Her lungs are collapsing. We need to take her to the Senate Hospital now" and grabbing Ines in his arms, they ran to the medical care, hoping reaching in time.
