Green Lantern, Supergirl and Aquaman travel to the site of the sunken submarine and have the opportunity to learn more about the lives of each hero. Meanwhile, Atlanna is given distressing news about the Luthors from the royal family's vizier.

"Lena, I still can't believe you formed your construct from an old TV show!"

The Green Lantern glanced to her right while she was seated in the pilot's chair and smirked at the love of her life. "Oh, get over it, darling. Since we had to bring Arthur along, I decided we should travel in style."

"Yes, but, why did you have to pick the spaceship from that show with the deep-voiced admiral and the tall and handsome skipper of the submarine with those 1950's fins?"

Arthur laughed heartily. "Kara, we are inside the 'Flying Sub' from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Pops and I used to watch the reruns of that old TV show and we loved it, especially when they'd fought those cheesy monsters Irwin Allen used on all of his series!" Then he shot a smirk at the Green Lantern. "I'm shocked that a refined and sophisticated woman like you would've ever watched that show, sis."

Lena graced him with one of her gentle smiles. She enjoyed how rapidly he'd accepted her as a member of his family along with his gentle ribbing, as it had been long ago with Lex. "Well, if you must know, I binged watched the series a few years ago while I was stuck at home fighting the flu. I kind of liked the design of their boats, even though the Seaview couldn't travel nearly as fast as real nuclear subs because of those crazy retro fins on her hull."

"Careful, babe," Kara, who was seated in the co-pilot's chair, teased. "You're using your 'yes, I'm a fucking engineer' voice in front of your big brother."

He gawked openly at Kara from his seat behind the pilot's chair then. "Language! You know, Supergirl, I'd bet my last dollar Clark would never drop the F-bomb in front of anyone."

The blonde superhero shrugged. "What can I say? Lena's corrupted me." Then she smirked. "Besides, Clark is a Kansas farm boy through and through, so, butter wouldn't melt in his mouth. As for me, I grew up with my adopted sister and she'd cursed so often, she'd made Marine Corps drill instructors blush."

"Your sister sounds pretty cool, Kara," he noted.

"She's so awesome, Arthur!" Kara gushed. "I've always looked up to her. When we were young, she always defended me from the other kids at school who picked on me because I was different. She even uncovered the man who murdered the only person who'd been my friend back then. Although I looked up to Kal-El while growing up, Alex was the person who inspired me to become the hero I am today."

Arthur nodded to the blonde then said, "I can dig it."

Lena grinned while she gazed at the readings on her ring-generated console. For the tenth time during their trip to the site of the downed submarine, she had to stop from pinching herself to see if she was lost inside a wonderful dream. Well, if this was a dream, she never wanted to awaken from it!

Since Kara's and her arrival to the light-keeper's home, her mom, Mera, Tom and Arthur had been nothing but kind to the both of them. And Arthur's kindness had continued while they winged their way over the ocean inside her construct. Arthur had asked how she'd like being in charge of LCorp during the past few years. After she'd told him she loved her job but always had to be mindful of the shareholders' interests, he'd revealed the Atlantean royal house had purchased twenty percent of the company's shares on the advice of Arthur's vizier.

At first, he'd stunned her with that bit of news. Then her lips slowly mirrored Arthur's pleased smirk. Since she owned thirty-five percent of the company's shares, if Arthur pledged his shares in support of her, she could stop any of the other shareholders from entertaining any hostile takeover bid for the company.

She'd been grateful for his trust in the company. "Arthur, I will do everything in my power to ensure that LCorp will continue to work hard at being a force for good in this world while staying competitive in the market."

"Glad to hear that, baby-sis," he'd said. "But, you don't need to sell me on how great a person you are. To tell the truth, I just appreciate the fact you're the first sibling I've met that didn't want to see me dead!"

At that point, he'd told them about Orm and how their middle sibling had tried to kill Arthur during a duel in the Atlantean arena and had sent Black Manta after him during his quest for Atlan's Trident.

A somber Lena had responded by reaching behind her and gently brushing her fingers across the knuckles of his massive right hand. She knew what it was like to have a brother out to get you. So, she'd told him how Lex had sent Corben to kill her on the day she'd met Kara.

A grim-faced Kara had then placed a comforting hand on Lena's right shoulder. "You know, most people think I'm so sunny and bright. They think I haven't a care in the world and I never get angry. That isn't true, though. Until I met Lena, I was always angry because nearly everyone I've ever loved was taken from me. Now, that Lena and I are together, sometimes, I have nightmares about how I could have lost her back then when Corben drew a gun on Lena during one of her damn press conferences. If he'd killed her, I would never had the chance to realize how my life would have lost all meaning. For that and more, I can never forgive Lex for what he'd tried to do to her."

Arthur, an angry look on his face, had glared at the lovers. "That was a pretty shitty thing Luthor did to the both of you."

Lena had nodded and said nothing. She had loved, still loved Lex so much. But despite the brave front she'd shown everyone, the fact Lex had wanted her dead had wounded her deeply.

A few moments later, Arthur had gently clasped her small hand in his and smiled softly. "Maybe we could be the charter members of our own club. You know, the 'My Evil Overlord of a Brother Wants Us Dead' Society."

She'd laughed, happy that Arthur had cared enough to brighten her mood.

Soon, her time for reflection was past when Kara announced, "We're almost on top of the buoy; the signal is five-by-five."

"All right then," Lena said and turned her attention back to her console. "I'm taking us down." Moments later, the craft that resembled an emerald stingray dove from the sky and into the swelling waves of the sea.

Once the mini-sub had completely submerged beneath the surface, Lena activated the boat's gleaming headlights and began its descent into the depths below.

"Hey, sis, did you include the claws?"

"Yes," she answered. "It can do everything the Flying Sub could do on the show. It can use its claws to manipulate objects on the ocean floor and I've included the laser at the bow of the boat, as well."

"No kidding?" Then he chuckled. "You're really something!"

"She's the best!" Kara gushed.

Fighting down the sudden urges to give her brother a hug and to kiss Kara breathless, Lena focused on the task at hand—the search and recovery of the Navy's atomic submarine.

A few minutes later, the Green Lantern examined her array of ring-generated instruments. "The magnetometer is pegged. Side-scan is showing a big return but I don't see anything yet."

"If Wayne was right, we should be close to the submarine," Arthur noted while he peered into the dark waters through the windscreen.

"I see it!" Kara exclaimed. Apparently, her x-ray vision had detected the downed submarine. "Keep the Flying Sub on its current heading, babe."

"Aye, aye, darling!"

Thirty seconds later, the craft's spotlight illuminated the great brass screw of the Eugene B. Fluckey.

"We've found them!" Kara breathed. "Terminate your construct and let's get wet, baby!"

Lena shot a risqué look over her shoulder at her mate at that very moment.

Kara appeared to be confused for a heartbeat or two before her exquisite mind finally realized what she'd just said. "I…I didn't mean it like that!"

Lena, although laughing on the inside, shot a faux inquisitive look at her favorite blonde superhero. "You didn't mean exactly what, darling?"

While a stammering Kara attempted to craft a response to Lena's question, Arthur chortled loudly. "You guys are such a hoot! Hanging out with you is definitely more fun than going on missions with Clark and Wayne!"

Lena smirked. "Yes, well, we perform on stage at Caesars Palace, too." Then her mood turned grim as she took a look at the neutron counter on her console. "Neutron counter's showing nothing. The submarine's reactor appears to be nominal." She now turned to Kara. "Activate your environmental support mode, Kara."

After Supergirl's armor raised its shields to allow the Kryptonian to survive underwater, Lena terminated the Flying Sub construct and the three heroes entered the frigid waters of the Greenland Ridge.

Moments later, the great black hull of the Eugene B. Fluckey receded into the darkness beyond the light of Lena's ring. The submarine seemed bigger than a cruise ship and looked eerie as hell as it rested on the sea floor. When they reached the sub's top deck, the trio glided above it until they encountered a white painted circle on the hull.

"That's the midship hatch. That's probably the best way to enter the submarine using your ring," Arthur noted.

"Right," Lena said. "I'm certain the crew is probably a little on edge. I think we should give them a call before we drop in for a visit."

Lena used her ring to translate her thoughts into an encrypted radio signal and announced, "Eugene B. Fluckey, come in please. We are here to assist you."

The connection was silent for several moments before a woman responded. "This is the Eugene B. Fluckey, Commander Cowan speaking. Are you a rescue submersible?"

"Not exactly. I'm the Green Lantern. Supergirl and Aquaman are with me. The Navy has provided us with a code word to confirm our presence. Watership down—I repeat—watership down."

"Code word confirmed, Green Lantern. Welcome to the party!"

"I like her," Arthur said lowly.

"Permission to come aboard, commander."

"Permission granted. Do you need to dock at our midship hatch?"

"Actually, my ring has the ability to phase us through your hull. There's no need for you to depressurize your outer hatch, with your permission, of course, commander."

"Alright, Green Lantern."

"Thank you, Commander Cowan." Then she turned to her companions and said, "Let's go," before she used the ring's energy to create a tiny dimensional rift, allowing the three heroes to slip through the titanium hull of the submarine into its control room.

"It's good to see both your crew and you, Commander Cowan," Lena said after her party materialized inside the instrument-covered inner hull of the control room. "What's the situation?"

Light-Keeper's House

Amnesty Bay, Maine

Atlanna was unhappy.

Actually, she was very unhappy.

Normally, when that happened, people died.

"Vulko, are you saying both Lady Luthor and her miserable whelp attempted to slay my beloved Atlena?!"

The Atlantean vizier shook his head. "Not exactly, Queen Atlanna. It had been reported that Lady Luthor had attempted to frame the princess for a crime that had been committed by one of Lady Luthor's minions. However, we have not processed any intelligence that Lady Luthor had sought to take the princess' life."

The blonde queen frowned at the report. Atlena had grown into a fine woman and Atlanna had been certain that Lady Luthor had raised Atlena well. Now, her mind was filled with doubt. When Vulko had come to her home to assess her condition, she had, admittedly, ambushed the man with numerous questions about her daughter based on information she'd gleaned from the surface dwellers' Poseidon-blessed Internet.

"Tell me more about this Alexander Luthor," she commanded.

The vizier did not even attempt to disguise the anger that had darkened his gaze. "While they were children, the siblings apparently had enjoyed a close relationship. However, six years ago, Alexander Luthor declared he despised all extra-terrestrial beings who had immigrated to our world and that he hated Superman most of all. Unfortunately, he killed hundreds of innocent surface dwellers during his war with the Kryptonian and is serving several life sentences as a result. After the authorities locked Alexander away, their family company floundered for the next few years until the princess left the life she had built for herself to take over the entire organization."

"This news angers me, Vulko," Mera declared. Atlanna nodded. Considering Mera's telekinetic control of water, the Xebelian was almost as dangerous as Atlanna herself. "Even if she weren't the queen's daughter and Arthur's sister, the wrongs that have been committed against her by her surface dweller family cause me to cry out for vengeance!"

Atlanna, her eyes narrowed and her face grim, decreed in a deadly quiet voice, "If it comes to that, the Rite of Vengeance is mine, dear Mera. Though, I would appreciate your assistance in its pursuit." Then she sighed heavily and said, "Still, I owe a debt of honor to Lady Luthor for taking in and raising my daughter all those years ago. Thus, before we destroy Lady Luthor's offspring for his crimes against Atlena and Kara's cousin, I believe I must offer her the opportunity to demand he change his ways before we end him."

"What is your command, beloved queen?"

She stood now, tall, proud and resilient before her vizier and close friend. "Order our intelligence operatives to find the location of Lady Luthor and to report to you the instant they find her. Then Mera and I will take it from there, dear Vulko."

"I understand, my queen. But, would it not be prudent to take a platoon of our finest warriors with you for the encounter?"

"I do not think so, my friend. If Lady Luthor chooses to defy me and fail to listen to reason, the soldiers would only serve to get in my way," she growled lowly before she turned to seek out Thomas and the comfort she found when he hugged her close.
