Apparently sarcasm didn't ring a bell to Mei-Ling, but she didn't bother correcting her about the situation between her and Sesshomaru. Instead, she would handle that problem the next time she saw him, but for now, she allowed the servant girl to pamper her from head to toe. That included makeup with a subtle shimmer and a beautiful white gown.
Although Kagome wasn't familiar with Chinese clothing or even their unique taste in hairstyles, the overall appearance was breathtaking. The material of her gown was sleek and thin, purely of white, with a wide-sleeved silver jacket that had no end to its length and was embroidered with peacock feathers. It glided along the floor behind her with each step.
A silver ribbon held the gown together at her chest, the ribbons flowing at the ends of her gown. It was sleeveless and comfortable. Although the hanfu appeared simple, there was a sense of elegance in the designs. But what really brought the overall style together was definitely the hair accessories.
Mei-Ling had fashioned the front ends of her hair into tight braids and wound them on the sides of her head until they formed a bun. White and blue ornamental flowers were then pinned into the braids, while the rest of her hair fell loose along her back.
She'd even outdone herself with the makeup. Charcoal eyeliner with a gentle curve of the wing and tinted pink cream, which she'd then blended into her cheeks and lips. The eyeshadow was subtle in its peachy color, but her blue eyes stood out remarkably.
Was she even Kagome? The girl staring back at her looked nothing more than a princess! Or some high-ranking official's daughter. If someone caught her looking like this in her time period, they might assume she was cosplaying or something. But here… how would others react?
"Is this… really me?"
"You look beautiful, my lady!"
But before Kagome could compliment Mei-Ling or say anything else worthwhile, an unexpected knocking shook the room. But as Mei-Ling fled to unlatch the doors, a slew of suspicious guards entered and shoved Mei-Ling aside. They turned their sight on Kagome.
