Chapter 43: Deserved Amend

Kagome is running through an area where there's no location for her to go to. "Kagome!" A creepy voice shouts from somewhere. "Whoever you are, leave me alone." Kagome shouts back to the unknown voice. "Not happening." The voice spoke close by. With it so near to her, Kagome does everything she could to get away from the voice. All of a sudden a group of arms grab her behind. On hand covers her mouth to prevent her from screaming. "It's pointless to scream." The voice spoke into her ear. Soon enough something wraps itself around her body to prevent her from getting away.

All of sudden, a person comes up to her. Kagome sees it's a woman. 'Tsubaki.' She was only about to speak in her head. "Ah yes, Kagome. I knew that you were to release your spiritual powers." She grabs her chin to make her see her in the eye. Kagome widens to hear that. All of a sudden, Tsubaki slaps her across the face…

End of nightmare

Kagome sits up quickly panting in fright. "Kagome." Inuyasha takes a hold of her shoulder to calm her down. "It's ok, you're home." Inuyasha said gently. He's sitting on the edge of her bed. That's when Kagome wraps her arms around, startling him. "Kagome what are you…" He stops when he hears her cry. 'If she cries, she needs to be comforted.' Hige's voice advices him. Inuyasha returns the embrace.

"Kagome." Inuyasha couldn't take it anymore. Her scent is being intoxicating him. The scent of cherry blossom and mint is soothing him in a calming way. 'I'm right here.' He only said to her. It doesn't take long for her cries to stop. "What happened? How did I get home?" Kagome pulls back as she asks him. Inuyasha scoops her up and settles her on his lap as he sits on the bed. "It was when you came out of you meditation…"

Flashback.

"Kagome!" Inuyasha leaps towards the girl before she hit the rocks below her. He makes it in time but then he slips on the rocks and they fell into the water. "Inuyasha, is she ok?" Hige asks him as he comes to the surface. "She's ok." Inuyasha responds as he gets back onto shore where Hige is worried about his daughter. "We need to get her home so she can rest up." Hige suggests as they leave the spot. They make it to Kagome's car. "How did you get here anyway?" Inuyasha asks as he puts Kagome in the front seat. "I drove here. I'll follow you home." Hige said back and heads to where his car is park. Knowing him, Hige must've parked somewhere else in the area. Inuyasha gets into the car and drives her home.

When Inuyasha pulls up to Kagome's house, Ai is outside watering the plants. She turns to see Inuyasha with a smile but then notices that Kagome is out cold. "Inuyasha what happened to my little girl?" She runs to him with fear in her eyes. "It's ok, Ai." Hige spoke as he gets out of his car. "I'll explain everything to you. Inuyasha take her to her room so she can rest." Hige gives his instructions. Inuyasha nods and goes in.

End of Flashback

As Inuyasha ends his story, Kagome feel that her clothes as damp due to being in the water after her meditation session. "I'll leave to give you privacy to change." Inuyasha offers as he is about to get off of her bed. Kagome just nods and Inuyasha leaves her room. He goes downstairs to find Hige waiting for him. "She's changing. She should be right down." Inuyasha said to him. Hige only nods and goes to the kitchen with Inuyasha behind him. Inuyasha sees Ai relaxed after what Hige told her and Miyuki.

"Is she ok?" Ai asks Inuyasha first. "Yes. She was having a nightmare and cried when she woke up." Inuyasha tells the group for what he was able to do to calm her down. It was no surprise to them at the least. They knew right off the bat that he'd be the one to do the trick.

A minute later, Kagome comes in with sweatpants and a t-shirt on with her hair in a low ponytail. "How are you feeling, Kagome?" Ai asks her daughter. "Ok, I guess. I'm just a little fatigued from my session. You're not upset. Are you?" She asks her mother nervously at the end. "No. I knew you'd go there if there was something troubling you." Ai smiles kindly. Kagome smiles back in relief. "That's good to hear. But there's something else I want to tell you." Kagome spoke to them. "What is it?" Miyuki asks her this time.

"While I was meditating, Kikyo came to me." Kagome said to her aunt. "Oh, and what was it that she wanted? Other than wanting to possess your body." Kagome takes a deep breathe. "The thing is that she wants to apologize to mom for what she said about me at your wedding." She seriously said with a straight face. Ai had no idea that Kikyo would want to possess her daughter's body to do that. "Are you sure about this, Kagome? There's no telling for what she might do to the body." Ai is reluctant about the idea.

"I know. But that burden has been a heavy weight on her shoulders and she wants to get rid of it by how rude she was at the wedding. She has to make amends so she can move on with what she needs to take care of Tsubaki." Kagome knows how her mom is about the idea. Truth be told, she was scared for what her mother would react to it. "Ok then. So how does this work?" Ai gives her surrender to let Kagome do her thing. Kagome nods and goes into the living room and sits down Indian style. She finger laces her fingers and begins to meditate.

A few seconds later, Kagome's body begins to pulsate within each heartbeat. All of a sudden her clothes begin to change into miko clothes. Her hair begins to grow and straight. Everyone watches in awe to see Kagome's transformation. "Mom." Kikyo's voice speaks out of Kagome's mouth. Miyuki widens her eyes. "Kikyo?" She spoke in surprise. Kagome's eyes open up, but instead of the warm chocolate brown. The eyes were more of a wooden-brown shape. "It's me." Kikyo stood up. "Aunt Ai…" Kikyo turns her sight to her aunt. Ai couldn't speak anything from her own throat. "I just to tell that I'm so sorry for what I said. I didn't know what came over my head to make me say such a thing. I wish I could've got back in time to prevent that from ever happening." Kikyo said with a sad smile.

Ai manages to walk to her and embrace her niece. "It's ok. You were trying to protect Kagome from ever realizing her own spiritual and I knew that if you two spent so much, Kagome wouldn't have the simple life." She meant every word. Kikyo smiles back as she hugs her aunt. "And now that's been taken of, there's one more thing I need to do." Kikyo spoke more seriously this time. "What is it?" Miyuki asks her. "I have to face Tsubaki for she did to me."
