Volume 4 Chapter 2: Don't be such a blockhead
"...Anyways, time to start the mission." Said Rock who then looked at the screen, showing the portraits of the eight robot masters that Wily had stolen. Next to the eight portraits it showed a map of where on remnant each of the robots was located.
Rock started looking through each of the robots and the information that Doctor Light had been able to find on the robots, while he was doing that his teammates noticed that each of the robots had its own base of operations. Prompting Ruby "Whoa, look at that each of them has their own base. But it's been two days."
"Yeah, that is weird. One I would get, but eight of them." Said Weiss.
"Maybe he had the robots built their own bases." Said Yang.
"Even if that were true, they must have been working day and night to get those bases finished." Added Blake.
"But it will be so cool, we can finally see how Rock deals with those adventures of his!" Exclaimed Ruby in excitement, forcing Yang to hold her down so she wouldn't get too excited.
"Didn't you already see how he went through those when that robot tournament was broadcasted on live tv?" Asked Weiss.
"You mean the one that Yang thought was a nearly two hour long movie?" Asked Ruby.
"Oh come on, you guys still holding that over me? I honestly thought it was a cheesy action movie." Replied Yang.
"Even if I saw that journey of his on tv, it will be really cool to see it happening in real time." Said Ruby, ignoring Yang's comment.
It was then that Rock let out a cough to catch the attention of his teammates, when he got their attention he said "I made a decision on which robot master we'll go after first."
"Which one, the one that looks like a giant bouncy ball?" Asked Ruby.
"No not that one, we're going after Block Man first." Said Rock, as he showed Block Man's image to his teammates. Next to the image was a description of the robot with some basic information. Rock saw that his teammates were looking at the screen and asked "What you all looking at?"
"We're reading his description, says here that his dream is to one day built a pyramid like the ones in Vacuo." Replied Ruby.
"Wait, a dust bar? Rock is dust like alcohol to robots?" Asked Yang.
"I... I don't know I've never actually drank any dust. I mean, back at the docks I did get a power boost for a few seconds due to absorbing a lot of dust... You know what, maybe that's why I was unable to move and immediately went to sleep after that fight at the docks. Maybe I was slightly hungover." Said Rock.
"If we had known that at the time, we would have given you some coffee to get over your hangover." Said Weiss.
"That's the weird thing, I wasn't feeling hungover anymore the next day." Replied Rock, after which there was a bit of silence.
"Hey Rock." Said Blake, breaking the silence.
"Yeah Blake, is there something you need?" Asked Rock.
"It says here that his base is located somewhere in Vacuo, can we maybe take Sun with us?" Asked Blake.
"Because he was from Vacuo, and you think that could help us in case we get lost?" Replied Rock.
"That is... one of the reasons." Said Blake, as she blushed slightly.
Yang chuckled and then joked "Does someone want an excuse to take a peek at his abs?"
Blake turned as a red as a tomato at that comment and began to stammer "What? No no no no no no no no no, it's not like that at all. I just thought he could help us out if we ever got lost in Vacuo."
"She is not wrong, it does have a reputation for being quite dangerous and filled to the brim with criminals." Said Weiss, who received a silent thank you from Blake.
"Alright, alright if you say so." Said Yang, who turned to Rock and asked "What do you think? Should we take sun with us?"
"It's not like I had a choice for taking you four with me, so sure Blake go and grab Sun. Just be quick about it, I would like to leave as soon as possible." Said Rock, to which Blake nodded and quickly ran out of the room to go and find Sun.
Ruby then turned to Yang and said "Did you have to be so mean to her?"
"Oh come on rubes, it was only a joke. I wasn't trying to be mean, it was all in good fun. Don't worry about it." Said Yang.
"Sure, but you do tend to take things too far at times. Don't make me remind you of the caramel incident back at Signal." Replied Ruby.
"Caramel incident?" Questioned both Weiss and Rock.
"Yeah, back at Signal all students that were going to combat schools like Beacon were allowed to pull one prank without getting into trouble with the teachers. Let's just say that Yang filled..." Ruby was about to say, only for her to get smothered by Yang.
"Shush, shush they don't need to know that!" Yelled Yang, who removed her hand from Ruby's mouth.
"Oh come on Yang, it's like you said it's only in good fun." Said Ruby, with a taunting tone in her voice.
"They don't need to know about that!" Exclaimed Yang.
"I actually would like to know what happened." Said Weiss.
"Rock doesn't need to know what happened!" Exclaimed Yang.
"Actually I do." Replied Rock.
"Et tu, Rock?" Asked Yang, to which Rock nodded.
"Just tell us what happened, who knows it might not even be so bad." Said Weiss.
"Alright fine, I wanted to send a message to some bullies from a year below me that were picking on Ruby and her friends. So what better way to do so, then with a prank that I wouldn't get in trouble for. So I broke into the locker of the ringleader and put in a small mechanism that was rigged to activate when someone opened their locker. The mechanism was supposed to shoot out caramel when activated."
"But I made a small error, I accidentally put the device in the locker next to the one of the ringleader of those bullies. So when it happened the caramel covered some poor sap, who didn't deserve it. But the worst part is, that kid had a semblance that allows him to duplicate stuff but he had a hard time controlling it especially when he got frightened or startled. So you can imagine, someone with the ability to duplicate stuff without much control over his semblance getting spooked by what was basically a caramel bomb." Said Yang.
"An entire hallway filled with caramel?" Asked Rock.
"Yeah, pretty much that." Replied Yang, who then heard Weiss letting out a giggle which then turned into laughter, which then turned into Weiss bursting out into a massive fit of laughter. "You good Weiss?" Asked Yang.
When they heard no response from Weiss, Rock, Yang and Ruby decided to wait a bit for Weiss to finish laughing. After a couple of minutes Weiss finished laughing, and she said "Yeah I'm fine, you really have the worst luck."
"I know." Said Yang.
"Did you get in trouble for it?" Asked Rock.
"Nope, thanks to the rules I couldn't get punished. But I did feel guilty, so I decided to help the janitors clean up that hallway and I also gave an apology gift to the kid I accidentally pranked." Said Yang.
"That's at least good to hear." Said Weiss, who let out another small chuckle. It was then that a door opened, Doctor Light walked into the room and was got a surprised look on his face.
"Oh, you're still here. I thought you had left a while ago." Said Doctor Light
"Sorry dad, we got held up for a bit." Said Rock.
"Oh don't worry, it just surprised me to see that you were still here. But that's completely fine." Said Doctor Light.
"Are you working on something in that room?" Asked Ruby.
"Yes, Auto and I are working on making improvements to the double gear system as well as ensuring that Rush is compatible with it as well. Might allow Rock to use the power adaptor, and we're also working on some other projects." Said Doctor Light.
"You guys sure are busy." Said Yang.
"Yes, when you're an inventor like me work is never finished." Said Doctor Light, who then saw Blake entering the lab with Sun. So he said "Ah, your team is now complete. I wish you all good luck on this mission." After which he grabbed a tool that was on a nearby desk and returned to the other room.
"I see that you managed to convince him." Said Ruby.
"She sure did, I'm always up for a little adventure." Replied Sun.
"That's good, now I need all of you to grab onto me." Said Rock.
"Why?" Asked Yang.
"I downloaded the coordinates of Block Man's base, and now I can teleport there. But I need all of you to hold onto me, so you'll be able to get there as well." Said Rock.
"Ok, let's do it then." Said Ruby, understanding what Rock meant but just like the others feeling a bit weirded out by that being the only way to get to the destination.
Rock's teammates and Sun grabbed onto him, "Alright, so on three we'll teleport away from here. I that ok with you guys?" He asked, to which the others nodded. So he began to count down. "One. Two. Three!"
Once he had reached three the group got turned into a multicoloured beam of energy, teleported out of the lab and towards Vacuo. After a few seconds the energy beam landed in Vacuo and reformed itself into the group of six. With Blake feeling dizzy and having to be held up by Weiss to prevent her from falling over. While Yang had to vomit in a nearby bush.
Ruby held onto her head to reduce the splitting headache she was experiencing at the moment and asked "Rock, is this really the only way we can get to those bases?"
"I'm afraid so Ruby, sorry about that guys. I didn't know that this would happen, maybe you'll get used to it." Said Rock.
"Rock, haven't you ever teleported like this with another human?" Asked Weiss, with an annoyed tone in her voice.
"Yeah, I had dad teleport with me. But he never had this kind of trouble." Said Rock, who then saw that Sun was fine so he asked "Why aren't you feeling anything?"
"I don't know dude, maybe all the meditation I have done has allowed my mind and body to become fully zen and immune to that kind of external turmoil." Said Sun.
"Sun, that is a load of crap and you know it." Replied Blake with a very annoyed tone in her voice.
"I think I'll give you guys some time to recover from that." Said Rock, who then decided to look around for a bit and saw a massive pyramid in the distance. "Huh, that looks pretty cool."
"Yeah, that massive pyramid over there is Shade academy." Said Sun.
"That's actually pretty cool." Said Rock, who then received a call on his scroll and decided to take his scroll out of his pocket. He then saw that he was being called by Professor Ozpin, so he decided to answer the call and was met with a video conference from Professor Ozpin. "Professor is there something wrong?" Asked Rock.
"Rock, where are you right now?" Asked Professor Ozpin, over the video call.
"I'm... we're in Vacuo right now, we decided to go after Block Man first. Is there something wrong?" Asked Rock.
"I just received a call from Professor Theodore of Shade Academy, he actually wishes to speak with you." Said Ozpin, over the video call.
"Sure, I'll talk to him. You can out him on this video call." Replied Rock, after which another person appeared on the video call. Rock saw that the person had a tanned complexion, had short black hair, looked quite muscular and was wearing a blue sleeveless vest with a light blue cape.
"Greeting Mega Man, I'm glad to have finally met you. Though I would have hoped that it was under... different circumstances." Said Professor Theodore over the video call.
"Hello professor, please call me Rock. Ozpin said you wanted to speak with me." Replied Rock.
"I do, where are you right now?" Asked Professor Theodore over the video call.
"Outside of the base, I can see Shade academy from here." Said Rock.
"Alright then, listen I wanted to speak with you because right now the situation is quite tense. The base is guarded by a lot of robots, and any team that has tried to come near have been getting attacked by the robots as well as that main robot who guards this base. So I need what you are going to do, cause people are feeling afraid. That fear will lead to chaos and negativity which leads to Grimm getting attracted. So what will you do?" Asked Professor Theodore through the video call.
"I'll go through the base, and make sure to take out Block Man. I can assure you that before the day is over that the issue will be taken care of." Replied Rock.
"Very well then, if you need any help at some point give me call. I might be able to give you some assistance." Replied Professor Theodore, after which he left the video call.
This left Rock with only Professor Ozpin on the video call, who said "I don't have anything else to say, so all I can say to you is good luck and I'll see you when you get back to Beacon."
"Thank you professor," Said Rock, after which the video call ended and Rock put his scroll in one of his pockets. He then turned around and saw that his teammates were looking better and had recovered from being teleported from Vale to Vacuo. "You all feeling a bit better?"
The group nodded, and Yang said "Don't cha worry about that, we're ready to kick some ass." as she punched the air with her fist.
"Great to hear that, let's get going then." Said Rock, who then began to make his way to the entrance of the base.
The rest of the group began to follow him, but was then stopped by Weiss who exclaimed "WAIT! How are we going to do this?"
"What do you mean, Weiss?" Asked Rock.
"What's the strategy, you've been doing this for fifteen years now. What's your strategy?" Asked Weiss.
"Oh, that. Right, uhm to be fair I never actually did anything in the way of strategy. Like I would just move forward, shoot anything that moves and just made sure to not hesitate whenever I came across an obstacle. Cause usually hesitation would lead to me getting hurt, when we get through this base you'll see what I mean." Replied Rock.
"Keeping moving forward and don't hesitate, got it." Said Blake.
The group then nodded and went through the entrance, once they got in there they saw narrow road leading to the entrance with several tall blocks standing in their way. The group climbed on top of the blocks and saw a gap in the road, above which there was a portal that was dropping an endless supply of large blocks into the bottomless pit. Rock jumped over the gap while there was an opening for him and then jumped from that platform over another gap while dodging the falling blocks, and the rest of the group quickly followed after him when they remembered his words about not hesitating.
They made it onto another platform, and above them a small group of Lyrics were flying through the air and were approaching the group. But they were quickly shot out of the air by Sun, Ruby and Blake using their weapons to aim at the robots. The group continued to move forward over the platform, and were met with several Mawaru C rushing towards them.
Rock made quick work of them, as he turned on the power gear and fired a powerful charge shot that pierced through the shield of the Mawaru C's and caused them to explode. However doing so put a tremendous amount of stress on Rock's body and he grabbed onto his arm while feeling the pain coursing through his body.
"Rock, are you alright?" Asked Ruby.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Using the power gear just now put a lot of stress on my body." Replied Rock.
"Then try not to use it too much, only when you really need to use it. We can't have you falling unconscious in the middle of the stage." Said Weiss.
"Yeah, good idea. Thank you Weiss, I think that if I use it as little as possible that I'll probably be fine." Replied Rock.
"Maybe, when we get back to Beacon we should help you train with it." Said Yang.
"You're right about that. Cause knowing Wily, he'll most likely use the double gear system against me. Anyways, we should get moving." Said Rock.
The group continued moving, and shot several Lyrics out of the sky which left behind several screws that Rock quickly collected. They then came across a Crunch Don that was guarding the entrance, and was swinging its massive hammer around. Yang saw the hammer, got a smirk on her face and walked up to it.
"Yang, what are you doing!" Yelled Ruby.
"Just watch." Said Yang, as the hammer of the Crunch Don swung down on her. The hit of the hammer hit Yang, the impact of which she used to absorb and become stronger. The extra strength allowed her to rip the hammer out of the hands of the Crunch Don, after which she swung the hammer and smashed it to pieces. Yang looked at the hammer, smirked and said "I'm keeping this one, now I can finally fight fire with fire against Nora."
At Beacon
"Achoo!" Sneezed Nora.
"You alright Nora?" Asked Pyrrha.
"I'm fine, but I have the feeling someone is talking about me." Said Nora.
"I wouldn't worry about that." Said Ren.
"Yeah, but I have the feeling that Yang wants to fight me." Said Nora.
"They're going after those robots right now, maybe when they get back you'll get your chance to fight her." Said Jaune.
"We'll see." Said Nora, with a look of excitement on her face.
In Vacuo
Rock collected the screws that were in the area, after which the group entered the base and were met with another group of Mawaru C's that were patrolling the area. The enemies rushed at the group, but were quickly taken out by Ruby's scythe who sliced them in half. They climbed on the ladder to get to the next floor, where they met another group of Mawaru C's. Blake quickly rushed at the enemies, and allowed her shadow clones to take a hit from the enemies while she used Gambol Shroud to slice the small group of enemies to pieces.
Upon clearing the floor and Rock collecting the screws that were left behind the group took the ladder to climb to the next floor. Once they got to that floor, they entered into a corridor filled to the brim with breakable blocks. "So, how do we do this? Cause, those are a lot of blocks." Said Sun.
"I got this, don't worry." Said Yang, as she loaded up Ember Celica and delivered a punch that shattered the bricks. Only for the bricks that were stacked on top of the lower row of bricks to fall to the lower level. "Well, that didn't work." Said Yang, as she let out a chuckle with a sheepish look on her face.
Rock sighed and replied "I'll use the power gear, this actually seems important and we can't have those blocks falling on us."
"You sure about that?" Asked Weiss.
"Yeah, I'm sure that as long as I don't use it too much that it will be fine." Said Rock.
"Please be careful with it." Said Ruby.
"Don't worry, I will." Said Rock, who turned on the power gear and began to charge up his buster. When he finished charging it up he released a massive blast from his buster, which took out the blocks and the Air Stone that was making itself invisible. Rock felt the pain of using the power gear, and quickly turned it off afterwards. And got concerned looks from his teammates, so he said "Don't worry, I'm fine."
"You sure about that?" Asked Ruby.
"Yeah, I'm one hundred percent sure about that." Said Rock, to which the group gave him an uncertain nod.
The group then continued moving through the hallway, and upon exiting it they saw a conveyer belt but had to quickly dodge out of the way of some small stones that were being shot at them. Looking around the room, the group saw a small robot which was an Air Stone floating through the air. So Ruby took aim with Crescent Rose in it's sniper form, and destroyed the little robot.
They then saw another Crunch Don, which got taken out by Weiss summoning a glyph underneath the robot and summoned a massive icicle out of the ground to impale the robot. This created an opening for the group to move forward, only for their path to be blocked by a single row of blocks. Which Yang destroyed by using her newly obtained hammer to smash the blocks to bits, allowing the group to move forward and climb the ladder to the next floor.
On the next floor they saw several Mets with their helmets down, prompting Rock to say "Guys, be careful. They can open up their helmets at the worst possible moment." After which he began to charge up a normal charged shot without using the power gear.
The group tried to move as quietly as possible through the room, only for all the Mets to pull up their helmets. "Clever girl." Muttered Sun, as the mets began to fire shots from their mouths. The group managed to dodge a few of the shots, but Ruby got hit a few times in the back due to not having her semblance to dodge them. So Rock fired charged shot from his buster and took out most of the mets with Yang punching the remaining three mets to pieces.
"You ok Ruby?" Asked Blake.
"I'm fine." Said Ruby as she rubbed her back on the spot where she got hit "Those shots just really sting."
"You're not in too much pain?" Asked Yang.
"No, it's like a bee sting." Said Ruby.
"Then let's keep going." Said Rock, as the group then moved to the ladders and made it to the next floor where Rock immediately fired a charged shot that pierced through the bricks and the Mawaru C that was patrolling the area. The group moved forward and Rock saw an opening above the corridor he exited, so he went through it, took out the blocks and another group of Mawaru C's patrolling the area. After which he collected the screws that were in the area, and then returned to the group.
"Was that necessary?" asked Weiss.
"Weiss, trust me on this. Getting a lot of screws is important, it allows Auto to create extra tools for me to use during these adventures." Said Rock.
"But to take a detour for a couple of screws." Replied Weiss.
"Don't worry about it." Said Rock.
The group the continued to move forward and quickly jumped between two platforms, and managed to dodge blocks falling out of the ceiling. All the while Sun used his nunchuck's to take out several Lyrics that were floating through the sky.
The group, having managed to clear those obstacles, made it into the next room and were met with a large spiked totem pole looking robot.
"What is that thing?" Asked Weiss.
"Hey look, a mini-boss." Said Ruby.
"A what?" Asked Weiss in confusion.
"You know, a mini-boss." Said Sun.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Replied Weiss.
"Mini-bosses, they usually give the player an extra challenge in video games whenever they get halfway through a stage to reach a boss." Said Yang.
"Does that mean that we're halfway?" Asked Weiss.
"Eh, it feels more like a third of the way." Replied Yang.
"So how do we take it out?" Asked Weiss.
"Just hit the weak spot." Said Rock.
"Which is?" Asked Weiss, growing a bit annoyed.
"It's eyes." Said Rock.
Weiss sighed in annoyance, and then replied "I guess that makes sense, I think I'll try something." As she then aimed her rapier at the robot, as summoned several glyphs in the air which she used to fire icicles at the robot. Which hit its eyes and put it in an enrage state, after which it activate its own double gear and used the speed gear to begin rushing through the room. Meaning that the group had to jump out of the way to avoid getting hit.
After avoiding the attack the group began to fire their weapons at the massive robot, which then turned around to face the group and began to charge itself up for another attack. Rock saw this as an opportunity to charge up another charged shot this time with the power gear, and fired charged shot at the same time as the Totemer finished up charging itself and launched itself at Rock.
Rock's charged shot managed to hit the machine in the eyes, but then it rushed into Rock and launched him into a nearby wall. Taking out half of the energy that Rock had, the rest of the group got a look of shock on their faces and quickly rushed at the robot to ensure that it wouldn't be able to attack Rock more. Sun used his nunchucks to fire shots at the robot, while Ruby, Blake and Yang used their weapons to fire blasts at the robot. With Weiss using Myrtenaster to impale the robot from underneath it, causing it to get destroyed and leaving behind an energy pack.
Ruby quickly rushed over to Rock and exclaimed "Rock! Are you alright?"
Rock struggled to stand up and replied "I'm fine, but my god did that take out a lot of my energy."
"Luckily for you, that robot left something behind for you." Said Yang, as she threw the energy pack to Rock which he absorbed and managed to regain half of his lost health.
"Thanks Yang, that feels a lot better." Said Rock.
"Can you keep going?" Asked Sun.
"I think I can." Replied Rock, who began to move around the room for a bit. Upon seeing that he had no problem with moving he said "We can continue, I feel fine."
"Good, then let's go." Said Blake, after which the group moved into the room next to this one and Rock made quick work of the Crunch Don that was located in the room by firing a charged shot at the robot. He then jumped onto some blocks in the room and grabbed some screws and energy packs that were in the room. This allowed him to fully regain his energy.
The group then climbed onto the ladder to get to the next floor, and right before they made it to the next floor Yang decided to look down into the room one last time and saw that the robot had returned and was fully repaired. They then made it onto the next floor, and Yang said "Rock, is it normal for those robots to respawn?"
"Respawn? What do you mean?" Asked Rock.
"While climbing the ladder, I saw that the robot you just beat had returned." Said Yang.
"Oh that, yeah that happens. I never really questioned it, I always thought Wily had some type of technology that allowed robots to be rebuilt really fast." Replied Rock.
"You... You didn't question it?" Asked Weiss in disbelief.
"Nope, but it never seemed like too big a deal. I mean some times it actually helped me, like when I needed to regain my weapon energy." Said Rock.
"Alright if you say so." Said Weiss.
The group then moved through the room, by taking out the large brick slabs that were in the way, while also working in unison to take out the Mawaru C's and the multiple Crunch Don's that were in the room with them. They then moved onto a group of conveyer belts that had several gaps between them, in which large blocks were being dropped. So the group moved quickly, and had to go through a corridor before making into a large open ended area.
In the large open area was a conveyer belt with some large stone slabs on it, the group began to move forward but got surprised when the belt started to move and from the ceiling dropped a huge drill that began to spin around rapidly and the blocks that were on the conveyer belt were quickly shredded to pieces. Making the group run to the other side of the room as fast as possible. Only for their path to get blocked by a huge block that landed on the belt from the ceiling as well.
"Rock, I know you get hurt by the power gear but please. You need to use it, now!" Yelled Weiss.
"I'm already on it!" Yelled Rock, who had switched to the power gear and was charging up a massive blast with his buster. All the while the group was hoping that Rock would be fast enough to ensure that they wouldn't be taken out by the giant drill. After several tense seconds, with the group getting closer and closer to the drill, Rock had finished charging up the charged shot and immediately blasted straight through the huge block. Which blasted it to pieces and allowed the group to rush to the other side of the room, all the while they heard the sounds of the remains of the blocks being shredded by the drill. All the while Rock ignored the pain the power gear was giving him.
The group then continued moving through the stage, going over conveyer belts, while taking out the Mawaru C's and the Crunch Don's that were in their path. They then made it another room where they had to move along some more of the moving belts that were located between platforms, while also climbing on the ladders to get to the next floors. They managed to do so while dodging blocks that were being dropped from the ceiling, and taking some Lyrics and Air Stones that were floating towards them.
Upon leaving the last floor they made it to an area that was outside, and there they saw that the sun was beginning to set. "Wow, this looks beautiful." Said Ruby, as she saw that the stars were beginning to set in.
"It sure does, that's the great thing about the desert. There is barely any air pollution, so you can actually see the starry night sky. Makes for a great view while you're camping in the dessert." Said Sun.
"You know, I was thinking. Maybe when we have time, we could go camping as a team." Said Weiss, as she looked at the sky with a hint of nostalgia in her eyes.
"That actually sounds like a great idea." Said Rock.
"Wow, maybe the desert managed to defrost your frozen heart." Joked Yang.
"Oh come Yang, I won't deny that I was a lot to deal with at the start of the year. But I wasn't that bad." Replied Weiss.
"Your right, you were a brat at the start but you weren't the worst person to be around. And I will say, you made a lot of progress since the start of the year. I'm proud of you Weiss." Said Blake.
"Guys, can you please stop being so sappy we have a mission to complete." Said Rock, with a hint of annoyance in his voice.
"Oh come on Rock, quit acting like an edgy anime protagonist. It doesn't suit you." Joked Yang.
"Edgy... edgy anime protagonist! Yang what the hell!" Exclaimed Rock.
"Relax Rock, you know I'm joking. You know that you're my favourite guy on the team." Replied Yang.
"I'm the only guy on the team!" Exclaimed Rock.
"But not the only guy in our friend group." Replied Yang.
"Yang, can you please stop teasing him or I will go back to day one Weiss." Said Weiss, trying to get the group back on track.
"I'll be good." Muttered Yang.
"Yeah, besides Blake's the edgy anime protagonist on our team." Said Ruby, causing Rock's, Yang's, Weiss's, Blake's and Sun's mouths to fall open in shock. Causing silence to fall in the area.
The group, deciding not to comment on Ruby last comment, then continued moving through the area, with them jumping from pillar to pillar while also avoiding blocks that were being dropped from the sky and shooting down the lyrics and Air Stones that were floating through the sky. And after avoiding several waves of obstacles the group made it to an open area, with a conveyer belt. But thrown around the conveyer were the remains of another Totemer that was supposed to be guarding the area.
"What in the gods name happened here!" Exclaimed Weiss.
"That can't be right, did someone beat us here?" Asked Rock.
Sun decided to take a look at the remains, and saw that all over the remains there were three small puncture entrances in the shape of a traingle. With some of the entrances giving off a strange yet familiar sulfur like smell to Sun.
"Sun, you alright?" Asked Blake, with a hint of concern in her voice.
"There is something off about this, the smell is familiar to me. But I can't put my finger on it." Said Sun.
"Should we be worried about this?" Asked Rock.
"Probably not, maybe a Grimm that already left the area. Nothing to be worried about." Said Sun, as in a bottomless pit nearby several red glowing orbs began lit up.
"Then we should get going, I'm actually quite happy that a Grimm managed to do our jobs for us." Said Rock, the group then moved to the next room and saw a small purple robot running away into a small hole in the room. "An evil Eddie?" Questioned Rock.
"Evil Eddie, what are you talking about?" Asked Weiss.
"I just saw a small purple robot running away from us the moment we entered the room, it kind of looked like Eddie." Said Rock.
"You mean that small red robot that sometimes helps around the lab?" Asked Yang.
"Yeah, him. Looks like Wily made an evil version of him." Replied Rock.
"Just like he made an evil version of you." Said Sun.
"Yeah, he kind of did do that." Replied Rock, the group then continued moving and went on a ladder to go to the next floor where Rock quickly blasted away some more bricks that were in the way. Which allowed them to move to a nearby ladder, and move upwards to the next floor. On that floor the group made their way through multiple levels of platforms on the same floor, all the while taking out some Lyrics that were flying towards them and Air Stones that were cloaking themselves but were taken out by Sun using his nunchucks to fire shots at the robots.
Upon making it to the top level on that floor they went to the next room where they went over another conveyer belt where they saw a Crunch Don at the end of it. So Yang used her gauntlets to launch herself at the robot, and managed to take it out by delivering a powerful punch that went through the robot and took it out. All the while Sun, Ruby and Blake used their weapons to fire shots at the endlessly respawning Lyrics that were coming their way.
The group made it to another open area with another conveyer belt, where another drill dropped from the ceiling and on the other end of the room a large block dropped from the ceiling.
"Rock!" Yelled Weiss.
"I'm on it!" Yelled Rock, who turned the power gear on and charged up a blast with his buster and after he finished charging it he launched his charge shot through the giant block, allowing the group to move forward as the block was shredded to pieces.
They then moved to the other area, where a third giant drill dropped from the ceiling and on the other end of the room another giant block dropped from the ceiling. Seeing this Weiss Exclaimed "Rock!"
"I'M! ON! IT!" Yelled Rock, after which he yelled out in pain as he fired another large charged shot to take out the block. But had some trouble moving after that, but he was grabbed by Weiss who was also holding onto Ruby and then summoned some glyphs to get a safe area in the next room. While Yang, Blake and Sun rushed after them.
"Rock, you alright?" Asked Ruby, with a hint of concern in her voice.
"I'm... I'm fine... just need... just need a few seconds..." Replied Rock, who was then given an energy pod with a gear symbol on it from Blake. He absorbed it and felt better as his internal systems were starting to cool down. "Where did you find that Blake?"
"On that pile of blocks over there." Said Blake, as she also handed him an energy tank. "I also found this is in the next room."
"Thank you... Blake." Said Rock, who took the energy tank and put it in his internal storage system. It was then that he felt that his body had cooled down from the overuse of the power gear.
"Think you can keep going?" Asked Yang.
"Yeah, I feel cooled down. I think we can continue on." Said Rock.
"Then let's get moving." Said Sun.
The group moved through the room, jumped over the blocks in the room and went to the next room. In which they had to move upwards and jump from conveyer belt to conveyer belt, all the while they were able to dodge blocks that were being dropped from the ceiling. They then made it to the top of the room, and in the next room they jumped from pillar to pillar while avoiding more blocks being dropped from the ceiling while taking out Lyrics that were flying through the sky and slightly blocking their path.
In the next room they climbed some more ladders and moved along several conveyer belts while taking out some Air Stones and Mawaru C's that were rushing towards them and were shooting at them. They then destroyed some more blocks and were too late to prevent the anti Eddie from running away with another energy tank into a nearby hole.
Rock seeing this, and seeing a nearby ladder said "Guys, were going to need to climb that ladder and then I need you to wait up there while I wait for the purple Eddie to respawn."
"Ok, but why?" Asked Weiss.
"Because I want to get another energy tank." Replied Rock.
"But you already have one." Said Blake.
"Yes, but having two will come in really handy when fighting Block Man." Replied Rock.
"But you don't need it." Said Weiss.
"Yes I do!" Exclaimed Rock.
"Stop acting like a child!" Exclaimed Weiss
"No, just do what I say and let me get another energy tank!" Exclaimed Rock, who then got surprised when an explosion went off in a nearby wall. He turned around to see Yang having punched through a wall and holding onto an energy tank.
"There, problem solved." Said Yang, with an annoyed tone in her voice as she threw the energy tank to Rock. Who caught it, and put it in his internal storage system.
Rock got a slightly flustered look on his face, and quickly muttered to Weiss "Sorry about that."
The group then climbed the ladder to the next floor, and ended up in an open ended area. At the other end of the area they saw a giant door, and Weiss asked "Rock, does that door mean that we made it?"
"Yup, we're almost done with this base." Replied Rock.
Weiss let out a sigh of relief and said "Oh thank goodness, I was getting really tired of all the ladders we had to climb."
The area then fell silent as the group took a few seconds to relax, but that silence was broken by Sun who spoke up. "It feels quiet, too quiet."
"What are you talking about Sun?" Asked Ruby, who felt a shiver go up her spine as she the sounds of some small spikes crawling over the floor. "Anyone else hear that?"
"Uh huh." Said Yang, while Blake, Weiss, Sun and Rock nodded in agreement.
"Whoever you are, you better show yourself!" Yelled Rock, as he aimed his buster at a dark corner in the area.
It was then that a single red light lit up in the shadows, after which a small black creature, with bone plating as armour, with six small legs and a stinger with three hot barbs on the end of the tail. Upon seeing the creature, Sun let out a sigh of relief and said "Oh it's just a Sulfur Fish Grimm, nothing to worry about."
"Why is that?" Asked Yang.
"One of them is fine, one can't do too much damage. So as long as more don't show up we'll be fine." Said Sun, after which several dozen red eyes lit up in the darkness.
"You just had to jinx it!" Exclaimed Weiss, as Blake smacked Sun in back of the head. At that moment the Sulfur Fish came together and started to merge to become a bigger monster, while the group was forced to watch. After the group of sulfur fish merged together it had formed into the shape of a golem, with the hands, feet and main body being comprised of the main bodies of the Sulfur Fish Grimm with the appendages being connected to the main body by the tails of the Grimm.
As the monster started to approach the group, Ruby turned to Sun and asked "Do you know how to take that thing out?"
"I don't... I've only ever heard stories about people encountering Sulfur Fish Grimm when they are out in the desert." Replied Sun.
"Doesn't matter, I'm sure we'll be able to take it out." Said Yang, whose eyes switched from iliac to red and launched herself towards the golem Sulfur Fish Grimm using her gauntlets, where she delivered several rapid punches to the body of the monster after which she launched herself backwards. Revealing that the monster was now filled with several shotgun shells filled with fire dust, that got detonated after Yang fled from the monster. Creating a massive hole in the torso of the body, which got immediately repaired by the rest of the sulfur fish Grimm that were making up the body.
The group looked on with a stunned look on their faces as that was happening and as the monster was looking slightly stunned, to which Weiss commented "Huh, that's... that's... honestly, I'm at a loss for words. Also Yang, when did you upgrade your weapon?"
"Couple of days ago, I wanted to add some extra fire power to my gauntlets. So Ruby suggested that I go to Doctor Light and Doctor Polendina for help, who gave me the idea for adding exploding shot gun shells to my gauntlets." Said Yang.
"That's pretty cool." Said Sun.
"So, if they can regenerate from something like that. How do we take it out?" Asked Rock.
"Maybe we take out the ring leader." Said Blake.
"Ring leader, what are you talking about?" Asked Yang.
"What if the ring leader is the one controlling the rest, and when we take it out we could take out the rest of them." Said Blake.
"That makes sense actually, I remember Professor Oobleck telling me that Grimm get smarter the older they get." Said Ruby, as she faintly heard "That's Doctor Oobleck to you!" being yelled from Beacon.
"Then let's do it, fire everything we have at that thing." Said Rock, to which the group nodded. They then all got into position, with Yang, Ruby and Sun using their weapons to fire shots at different parts of the giant sulfur fish grimm body that created openings. But those openings where quickly sealed shut by the creature healing itself, at the same time Blake was using her blades to slash at the creature all the while using her shadow clones to dodge the stingers of the sulfur fish that were on the outer shell of the golem.
Blake managed to slice one of its arms off, but that was quickly regrown by the creature. Which caused the creature to become enraged and made it move a lot faster, swinging its arms around in an attempt to hit its opponents. Which Weiss, Yang, Rock and Sun were able to dodge, however Ruby in that moment had forgotten that she couldn't use her semblance. So she kept standing there while she kept firing rounds into the creature, resulting in her nearly getting hit by the arms of the creature. But Blake was able to quickly jump in, have a shadow clone freeze the arm of the creature in place and bring Ruby backwards to bring her to safety.
Seeing the creature trash around in anger trying to free its arm, Blake turned to Ruby and said "Ruby, be more careful next time. You don't have your semblance at the moment and that thing nearly got you."
Ruby got a sheepish look on her face and replied "Sorry, kind of forgot about that. Still not used to fighting without it."
"Just be careful next time, ok." Said Yang.
Ruby nodded, and while that was happening Rock looked at the giant creature trashing around trying to free its arm and getting hurt from the ice that had managed to trap it. Rock turned to Weiss and said "Feel like doing a combo attack?"
Weiss smirked and replied "Sure, you want to do something flashy or something normal?"
"Lets just do ice robot combo one." Replied Rock, to which Weiss nodded and summoned a giant glyph in front of Rock who began to charge up a normal charge shot. After a couple of seconds he stopped charging and fired the charged shot through the glyph causing it to get infused with ice properties. It then hit the Sulfur Fish Grimm Golem, causing it to get completely frozen over.
"And now it's completely harmless." Said Yang, who punched the frozen statue causing it to shatter to pieces and the frozen remains to turn into black dust.
"That takes care of the Grimm problem, now let's take care of the robot problem." Said Roc, as the group then made their way to the door. Which then opened, they then walked through a large hallway before reaching another door which opened and led the group into a large room filled to the brim with walls made out of blocks and with some pillars in the corners.
When the door closed behind them Block Man dropped down from the ceiling and said "You did a solid job getting here, but now I'll drop you all like a ton of bricks."
A look of excitement formed on Yang's face, and she replied "Yeah, well you're just another brick in the wall."
"Yeah, well you're just a few bricks short of a load." Replied Block Man.
"I'd accuse you of committing a crime, but there isn't enough concrete evidence to prove it." Yang joked.
"Well you can't beat me, I'm just a chip of the old block!" Yelled Block Man, getting annoyed by Yang and her puns.
"You're as flexible as a brick wall." Replied Yang, who then got smacked in the back of the head by Weiss.
"Yang, enough! We're here to take that robot down, not to have a pun contest with it." Exclaimed Weiss.
"Someone gets it." Said Block Man, who then started the fight by summoning several blocks above the group and dropping them onto the them. Which Rock, Sun, Weiss and Blake were able to dodge while Yang used her gauntlets and Ruby used her Scythe to destroy the blocks that were above them. Which they had to repeat, as Block Man dropped more block above them, which gave Blake and Weiss the opportunity to strike with their blades. They delivered several hits to the robot, which managed to knock it back and created an opening for Rock to blast Block Man with a charged shot.
The shot stunned Block Man long enough for Yang to rush in, and deliver a flurry of punches to the robot which stuck fire dust infused shotgun shells to the robot after which she launched herself backwards and made the shells explode. Allowing Ruby to spin around her scythe rapidly, and then throw the scythe at Block Man which caused him to get hit several times. After which Sun rushed in to hit Block Man with his nunchucks, while also firing shots from the ends of his nunchucks to damage the robot even more.
Block Man punched Sun in the stomach and caused him to get launched into a nearby wall, only to be met with a punch to the face from Yang which launched the robot into another wall. Which caused electricity to start crackling around the robot, and made him fall over onto the ground seemingly beaten by the group.
"That's it, seems a bit easy." Said Yang.
"Yeah, normally they explode upon defeat." Added Rock.
"Right you are Mega Man!" Exclaimed Block man, who was standing again and then yelled "Power Gear!" It was then that Block Man jumped into the air surrounded by red energy, shaped his body into a head and then absorbed the blocks in the room to turn into a massive stone golem. With chunks of the walls now being missing, upon finishing his transformation Block Man yelled "Me crush you!"
The group immediately had to jump out of the way to prevent getting hit by the hands of the Block Man golem. All the while Rock fired a charged shot into the red power core of the robot. Enraging the robot enough to start running around the room, and hitting the walls. Causing several parts of the ceiling to start falling down, which the group had to quickly dodge to avoid getting squashed.
It was then that the Block Man Golem jumped into the air, which caused the ground to shatter and the group to start falling down to the next floor. While they were falling Ruby grabbed onto Rock with one hand, while using her scythe on the wall to slow their descent. Blake threw the blade of Gambol Shroud into a wall and Sun and Yang held onto her to avoid falling further. While Weiss used black glyphs to slow her fall, and when she reached the ground she used her rapier to summon several glyphs which she used to launch several icicles into the red power core of the Block Man Golem.
This once again enraged the robot, so it threw another massive punch which Yang caught by dropping in between Weiss and the robot. Leading to her getting punched into a wall, but absorbing the power and using that power to deliver a massive punch to the robot. Doing massive damage to the robot, and knocking it backwards. But this gave the robot the opportunity to grab a nearby pillar, and use it as a baseball bat. Swinging it and hitting Ruby, Sun, Blake, Weiss and Yang, who had all dropped to a lower level, and launching them into the wall.
Rock saw this and became enraged, he activated the double gear system and began to repeatedly fire off blasts of charged shots powered up by the power gear with each shot he shouted "Die!" a shot got fired, "Die!" another shot got fired and the Block Man Golem blew up dropping Block Man to the floor and attempted to shoot out another wave of blocks but this time he shot them out from the side.
But he was unable to do much against Rock, as he continued shooting at Block Man. "Die!" as a shot got fired, that brought Block Man to his last bit of energy. Block Man fell to the ground, and struggled to stand up as he watched Rock approach him with a sadistic look on his face.
Block Man then exclaimed "Wait, don't do this! You're making a mistake!"
"The only mistake I'm making would be to spare you." Replied Rock, as he fired another charge shot at Block Man. Which caused the robot to explode, and left the memory chip of the robot on the floor.
But Rock ignored it, as he began to shoot at the walls in an enraged state. Only for him to stop when Ruby rushed to him, put him in a cool-down hug and exclaimed "Rock, calm down! We're fine, please get a hold of yourself."
Hearing that caused Rock's enraged state to go away, and instead he fell to the ground from exhaustion. "I'm so sorry you had to watch that." Whispered Rock, while Weiss grabbed the memory chip that was on the floor.
"Shhh, it's going to be ok. I got you, it's going to be fine, you'll be fine." Replied Ruby.
"Thank you Ruby." Said Rock, as at that moment a blocky looking robot with six legs jumped into the room from the hole in the wall. Upon landing the screen on the side of the robot turned on, revealing Wily's face on the monitor.
"Why hello there, Mega Man." Taunted Wily over the monitor.
"Wily, come to congratulate him on his victory?" Taunted Yang in retaliation.
"Nope, just came to check on how things went. And also to do this." Said Wily over the monitor, as the robot opened itself up and revealed a bomb that had two minutes left on the timer.
"A BOMB, ARE YOU CRAZY! YOU'LL BLOW US ALL UP!" Yelled Sun.
Wily led out a maddening laughter over the monitor and replied "That's the point, a bomb that's powerful enough to demolish the entire building. So unless Ruby and Yang want to have a gravestone next to their mother I suggest that Mega Man gets his act together. Ciao." Said Wily, as the screen turned off and the bomb in the robot began to count down faster. Leaving only a minute left on the timer.
The group looked at Rock, and saw that he was struggling to stay awake. So Yang tried shaking him to keep him awake "Rock, stay awake! We have to get out of here, now! Please stay awake and teleport us out of here!"
It was at that moment that the bomb had thirty seconds left, and the entire group tried to shake him awake and were getting desperate. Then the clock reached ten seconds and the group started losing all hope. But right as the bomb got ready to explode, Rock opened his eyes was filled with power and managed to teleport him and the group back to Beacon while the bomb went off and destroyed the entire base.
The group landed in the lab, and shocked Doctor Light who immediately rushed towards Rock and exclaimed "Rock, are you alright! What happened!"
"The double gear system hurts him, and he overused it." Said Weiss.
Doctor Light grabbed Rock and put him on the table to fix him "I'll take it out immediately." Said Doctor Light.
"No... don't... I need it... need it to stop Wily... I need it... need to stop Wily" Muttered Rock.
"But Rock, it's brought you nothing but pain so far!" Yelled Ruby.
"I need it... let me keep it... I need it." Said Rock.
Doctor Light sighed with tears in his eyes and said "I'll let you keep it, but I'll find a way to help you through it."
"Thank you... dad." Replied Rock.
"So now what?" Asked Blake.
"I don't know about all of you, but I'm in serious need of some relaxation." Said Weiss.
"Yeah, I need to blow off some steam. If anyone needs me, I'll be in the gym." Said Yang, with a hint of irritation in her voice as she left the lab.
"I'll make sure she doesn't go too far with the punching bags." Said Sun, as he ran after Yang.
"So what do we do now?" Asked Ruby.
"With the weapon you obtained, I recommend going after Acid Man next. But that will have to wait until tomorrow, as I'm not going to allow Rock to leave in this state." Said Doctor Light.
"Don't worry Rock, we'll make sure nothing bad happens to you on this adventure." Said Ruby.
"Thank you... Ruby." Replied Rock, with a growing feeling of fear and worry in his mind.
Meanwhile in the skies
A flying transport airship was flying through the air, with all the members being transferred to Atlas. Thanks to Winter having completed the necessary paper work to get them transferred to Atlas from Vale.
Inside of the airship were the members of the Emerald Spears talking to each other while chained up to prevent them from escaping. It was then that Theo Payne turned to his brother and asked "We'll get out of here, right?"
"Don't worry, there is no prison on Remnant that can hold the Emerald Spears. I swear it!" Exclaimed Xander, but right as he said it the airship they were in was shot down causing them to crash on the frozen tundra of Solitas.
Upon the airship crashing there was nothing, but then a couple of seconds later Xander was seen crawling out of the wreckage. That was until he was stopped by two boots that stood in front of him. Xander looked up, and saw a man with blades on his wrist and a scorpion tail. "Who... who are you?" Asked Xander.
The man bowed and replied "Tyrian Callows, at your service. Is your name Xander Payne?"
"Yes, why do you ask?" Asked Xander.
"My goddess would like to have a word with you." Said Tyrian, as he kicked Xander in the head. Knocking him out and leaving Tyrian alone in the tundra. "Hmmm, might as well have some fun. Salem never specified how long I would need to be gone." Said Tyrian with giddiness in his voice.
It was at that moment that Tyrian walked into the wreckage of the airship and a loud maddening laughter was heard coming from the wreckage.
A/N: And there you have it, another chapter done. Originally some more small things were planned for this chapter next to the ending scene with Tyrian and the Emerald Spears. But you'll see those small bits appear in future chapters, cause honestly this chapter got really long and I wanted to release it. So I hope you enjoyed this chapter, cause I enjoyed writing it.
Now, as most of you saw. RWBY Chibi is coming back in a way, which means that hopefully those last eight episodes of season 3 will get released. We might even get an episode where we see the dreams of the adults. Cause we saw the villains, team JNPR and team RWBY having dreams. Now we just need the adults like Tai, Qrow, Winter and Ozpin and all the important characters will have had a dream episode. But for those who can't wait for chibi, may I recommend Super RWBY Chibi to you. It is a story written by Nan the Keyblade Master in the same vain as the original RWBY Chibi. It's really funny, has as of this moment nearly 170 chapters and I can really recommend it to anyone looking for a good laugh. And maybe check out his other RWBY stories while you're at it.
Something else I found was a follow up to a video from eleven years ago called Mega Man vs Met where Mega Man used all of his weapons to take out a single Mettaur. Now nearly ten years later a follow up was made, which includes weapons from Mega Man 11, some spin offs and from some surprises. So if you feel like it, search up Mega Man vs Met on youtube and you'll see two versions one from 2010 and one from 2021. Both are really enjoyable to watch.
