The next few days were spent at a small SHIELD base. Coulson was catching up on paperwork, and Fitzsimmons were complaining that there wasn't a lab they could use, since theirs was off limits till the repairs were done.
May took Skye for runs outside in the small forest beside the base, both in human and wolf form. Ward had tried to join them a few times, but May said no every time, even if they were in the gym. May would tell Ward to mind his own business, Skye was confused as to what May was doing and why. Ward joining hadn't been a problem before, but Ward had been trying harder to join them lately, so maybe that was the reason.
Skye decided with herself that if it continued she would ask May about what was going on, with her and Ward.
Skye was sitting in a breakroom having a snack, Ward came in and sat down in a chair close to her seat.
"Hey Skye," he said with a smile.
"Hey Ward, why are you so happy today?" Skye asked.
"Can't I just be happy?" Ward asked.
"Nah, I think you need to get your wires checked, robot," Skye joked.
"Ha Ha very funny," Ward said sarcastically.
"So how are you and Agent Morse?" Ward asked after a moment.
Skye was confused, and it must have shown because Ward clarified what he meant.
"Coulson mentioned that you met your soulmate, Agent Morse. I haven't met her but have heard that she is good at her job. Coulson also mentioned that there was some tension between you two," Ward said.
"Uh yeah, but we are fine now, I talk to her regularly," Skye said, confused as to why Coulson would tell Ward about her and Bobbi.
"That's good," Ward said in an odd tone, Skye chose not to comment on it and just leaned back to relax.
Ward apparently had other ideas.
"But if you ever want to talk about anything, I'm there," Ward said.
"Thanks Ward, but-" Skye started to say but May came into the room at that moment.
"Skye, come on, gym in ten. If you're late we stay ten minutes for every minute you're late," May called, Skye was up and running out of the room to go and change, calling a sorry to Ward.
Ward tuned to May with a little anger showing.
"Agent May, can I ask why you keep interrupting me and Skye," he asked.
"I remember what Lorelei said, about your feelings for Skye. Skye is taken, and she doesn't need you to interfere," May told him.
"Oh, that's funny coming from you Agent May, haven't you and Agent Morse had sex on the plane while Skye was there, and Skye knows about it," Ward said mockingly.
May glared at Ward, "Agent Ward, if I were you I would mind my own business," she said before walking away leaving him alone.
Two days later, Centipede had resurfaced and broken a man, by the name of Edison Po, out of prison and Mike Peterson was sent to help them.
Coulson was kidnapped by Centipede and Mike was dead. The plane was full of agents and Skye was trying to help some of the agents in the command room, when Hand, May, and Ward walked in.
"Play along," came Victoria's voice in Skye's head, Skye looked up and gave a small nod.
"What are you doing?" Hand asked, marching right up to her.
"Trying to find Coulson," Skye said, hoping that this was what Victoria asked of her.
"You are the consultant, right?" Hand asked.
"Yes," Skye answered.
"I want you off this plane right now," Hand said.
Skye's mouth dropped, Ward started to protest, and so did Skye when she got over the shock. Hand then asked May if Skye would be of help on the plane, and May said no.
Skye was confused at first and when she was waiting in the cargo bay, for an agent to take her to debrief, and Fitzsimmons and Ward came up to her, with a "sandwich" in a paper bag.
"Victoria and Melinda said to find Coulson, whatever it takes," Simmons told her hurriedly, since she wasn't an Alpha or Beta who could talk to other packs, easier, but Skye understood now and thanked them for her "sandwich" and hurried away.
A few hours after Skye had left, Ward finally got May alone in the cockpit.
"Just say what you want Ward," May said after he just stood there for a few minutes.
"Skye could have helped us, you are supposed to be her SO, so you know she could help," Ward said.
"I am, and I know, but not here. Skye works better outside of the system," May said.
"So, you lied to Agent Hand?" Ward asked.
"No, I told Hand that Skye wouldn't be of help on the plane, nothing else," May said, Ward had no comeback, so he left.
May needed to talk to Maria soon to get Ward away from Skye. She didn't know if Skye knew of Ward's feelings for her, but no matter what he was starting to creep her out. Simmons and Fitz had also come to her a few times with concerns about him and the way he acted around Skye, even before he was suspended, and they learned about Skye's age, he was weird around her sometimes.
Victoria came through the speaker system then and gave her new coordinates, May took a deep breath, and replied with a copy that.
Skye found a possible location for where they could be holding Coulson. She called her team from the sat-phone Simmons gave her and told them the location.
May had told her to wait to approach until they could arrive, Skye had said okay.
Skye couldn't wait though, so she parked the car she had borrowed, and walked closer, she was creeped out by the mannequins standing around. She then bumped into a centipede soldier, literally just walked into him.
She gulped and made a run for it, she could hear him following close behind her, then she heard it, a car, she really hoped it was her team.
She ran past a house and was almost hit by the car. The centipede soldier was not so lucky, he flew some feet away, Skye sighed in relief.
"Perfect timing," Skye said.
May gave her a look, "I told you to wait for us," She told Skye.
Skye was about to respond when Simmons spoke up.
"Guys we have a problem," She said, the soldier had gotten up.
"I got him, find Coulson," Ward said and ran to the soldier.
"Come on, let's search this place," May said.
Skye and May had found Coulson in a machine begging to die. Raina had been there, telling them it was for his own good, causing Skye to knock her out. Backup had arrived and taken the prisoners away, Victoria had discreetly given Skye an approving nod and smile.
Coulson had locked himself in his office after Simmons had cleared him, he only had a few bumps and bruises.
Skye was worried about him, so she sought out May, who was flying the Bus. "Is he going to be okay?" Skye asked after she had been sitting beside May for twenty minutes.
May looked over at Skye, who looked like she wanted to cry, "Coulson is strong, he will be okay in time, don't worry," May told Skye, it seemed to calm the young wolf down a little.
Skye leaned back in her seat and sighed.
About five minutes later Skye shot up, "Oh no!" Skye said.
"What is it?" May asked, alarmed.
"I forgot to call Maria and Sharon! When Maria sees the report about Centipede soldiers being arrested, she is going to kill me," Skye said, panicking.
"Skye!" May called to her, Skye looked at May. "Go call them now before it is too late," May said a little amused.
"This is not funny May," Skye whined, May just grinned at Skye and signaled a beat it gesture with her hand, Skye gaped at May but left in a hurry to her bunk to call Maria before it was too late.
The phone rang four times before it was picked up.
"Hey," Skye said into the phone, there was silence on the other end except the breathing, Skye groaned.
"It's too late, right?" Skye asked.
"Oh yeah it's too late," Sharon's voice came from the other end, followed by Maria.
"What were you thinking, again?" Maria's voice came through.
"I am sorry, I didn't think, I just wanted to find Coulson," Skye told them.
"We understand, and we are not mad, we are worried about you, you are still in training. When you land at the Triskelion, we need to talk about you and how you are being reckless. We know you want to stay on the Bus, we just want to set up some rules, okay?" Sharon said. Skye understood, she felt terrible for how she must have scared them when Maria read the report of the site Coulson had been held at.
"Okay, I understand," Skye said to them, "I love you both, you know that, right?" Skye asked.
"We love you too Skye, we just want you to be careful," Maria said.
"Get some rest Skye, you seem tired and there are still a few hours before you land, love you; oh, and Bobbi is here too," Sharon said.
Skye smiled, "See you guys soon," she said, she got a yes in reply before they hung up.
Skye had just changed into something more relaxing, when there was a knock on her bunk door, Skye went to open it.
"Oh, hi Ward, what's up?" Skye asked Ward.
"I was just wondering what you were doing?" Ward said.
"I was talking on the phone," Skye answered, Ward looked at Skye in a way that made her uncomfortable.
"With whom?" Ward asked.
Think, Skye, you can't say you were talking with Commander Hill and Agent Carter.
"I was talking with Bobbi, my soulmate," Skye answered, she saw the shadow shift over his face.
"Ah, okay well I won't bother you anymore, you looked like you were ready to get some sleep," he said.
"I was actually, but we can talk later," Skye said, Ward smiled and nodded before he walked to his own bunk.
Skye sighed, what was wrong with him lately? She couldn't figure him out anymore. Well now she needed rest, she had a feeling the talk she would have with Maria and Sharon wasn't going to be easy.
