Chapter Forty-Two: The Deadly Arsenal

Undisclosed Bar

A portal quickly opened up, revealing both Kurogiri and the individual in question. He was fairly tall, wore a dark combat suit, bandaged arms, and one thing that made him stand out: a blood-red scarf and matching headband along with a tattered rag as the mask. He had several knives on his person along with holstered twin swords.

"Kurogiri... what the fuck?" responded Bloodgash, a bit angered.

"Hnnnn...maybe this can work," Shigaraki replied.

"Who are you two supposed to be?" barked the individual.

"We...are the League of Villains and we heard so much about you, Stain."

Stain didn't show any reaction but Bloodgash was very much on guard, only keeping his hand by the holster if things go awry. "So speak, I don't have all day."

"You see, we believe that a man of your skills would make a fine asset to the League. Both of us share a similar goal: the end of this hero-obsessed society."

Stain held up his hand, halting Shigaraki from speaking further. Kurogiri and Bloodgash were now worried about what was going to happen next, but the Hero Killer responded albeit with some venom.

"Is that it...?"

Kurogiri's surprised how negotiations are quickly souring but stayed back to see if Shigaraki can salvage this.

"What...?"

"The thing you're suggesting? That takes conviction and desire, do you have it?" Stain said, pointing at Shigaraki. Before anyone could respond, the Hero Killer moved at blinding speeds, fast to the point where Bloodgash couldn't get a lock on him.

BLAM!

A bullet only hit the wall.

BLAM!

Another wasted bullet.

"What the fuck!?" yelled Bloodgash as he kept firing.

SPLORCH!

Blood Swallow Slash!

Two gashes were found at the shoulders of Shigaraki, but it wasn't done yet. Stain held his twin swords in an X-type pattern, but Bloodgash interrupted that by firing more bullets, but the weirdest thing?

Each time he shot Stain, the image just vanished!

It was like shooting an afterimage!

Kurogiri had to intervene! He went to form portals, but he felt a gash near his sleeve. He was bleeding!

"What the?!"

"You son of a bitch!" exclaimed a wounded Shigaraki who then ran at Stain. However...

CRACK!

"GAHH! FUCK!" screamed Shigaraki as he felt his knee bend the wrong way. However, he felt his face caught in a vice grip, but Bloodgash interrupted that by firing more-

WHAM!

A snap sent to Bloodgash's jaw, stunning him, but Stain wasn't done yet.

WHIP!

Bloodgash's head went to the side because of that fast roundhouse kick to the temple!

"We're not...done...asshole..." Bloodgash stated, still dazed.

"No..."

BAM!

A snap kick sent Bloodgash flying for a brief bit, sending him to the floor, but he was down for now.

"...We are."

Stain then saw Shigaraki who was in shock, but he said: "However, there's still something I need to test..."

Steel Tiger's Bite!

Shigaraki felt his face tighten, almost like a vice grip!

"Lemme...go...you...piece-"

BAM!

GAHCKK!

Kurogiri had to do something! He-

"Wait... I can't move..." exclaimed the shadowy butler as fell onto the floor, paralyzed. Tomura's own liver was now the Hero Killer's personal sandbag, causing him to puke out spit and worse...blood.

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!

GUHHH!

Shigaraki was still puking...

"Crap... gotta move..." the ash-skinned villain struggled to say. Stain saw one of his hands come to life, then threw him across the room.

WHACK!

Shigaraki was in absolute pain right now, knee bent, liver likely injured, and worst of all, his backup's been KO'ed. On top of that, he really wished that Kurogiri should have not brought in the Hero Killer.

"So... you're still standing," responded Stain as he took a soft stance. The ash-skinned villain didn't bother with a response but calmed himself by taking a kickboxing stance. Despite the hurt knee, he was still able to stand.

"Save the conviction talk for someone who cares," barked Shigaraki. As soon as he finished, he dashed towards him, but mainly aimed for the upper body.

WHIFF!

BIFF!

WHIFF!

"Quit-"

WHIFF!

"Blocking-"

WOOSH!

"You-"

WHIFF!

"Shit-Eating-"

WHIFF!

"Hacker!"

Róu Xīliú Mén

Each of Shigaraki's strikes was either parried by forearm, knee or blocked via the forearm. It was very much obvious, Stain was using a different combat style to fight him, and it pissed him off to no end.

BAM!

A nasty uppercut was sent into the face, knocking a few teeth out, but that was just the start.

Jīliú Chuī!

A near-endless volley of punches, jabs, and also the uppercut was wearing down Shigaraki! It was like an endless torrent of hard rain sent into the villain's body.

POW! POW!

BASH!

POW!

CRACK!

CRACK!

BOOM!

The final strike being two fists sent straight into Shigaraki's ribcage! An explosive sound was heard, comparable to a grenade going off!

GAHCKK!

"The...fuck..." Shigaraki barely responded, still spitting up blood.

"This society has grown too complacent with fakers calling themselves Heroes, the word itself losing any real meaning, and most of all, criminals who wield their power idly..." Stain paused. "All of them. Shall be purged."

"Fucking...kill...you..."

STOMP!

A solid foot was sent into Shigaraki's ribs, causing him to scream in pain.

"So, you're still breathing then?"

"Conviction...I got nothing...more...grand..." Shigaraki said, struggling. Especially with the boot on his body. "... than the death of All-Might! I want to fucking crush this society! The fact that they worship trash like that makes me fucking puke!"

The ash-skinned villain used his good hand to try touching the Hero Killer, but...

GASH!

"FUUUCKKK!" screamed Shigaraki, his good hand was bleeding, courtesy of a knife. Bloodgash slowly got up, aiming a pistol, but Stain stopped him by saying: "I'd recommend taking your finger off the trigger. One false move and your brat of an employer is gonna need a blood transfusion. And fast."

Bloodgash was in a precarious position, but ultimately...relented.

"You know... I was going to dispose of you. However, I see the makings of desire within you," Stain calmly said. "Whether that will grow into conviction... all depends on you."

KOFF!

"Oh, fuck off, you piece of shit. You're gonna take responsibility for the beatdown you gave me!"

"It seems we agree on one thing."

"Oh, what's that, fucker?" spat Shigaraki.

"Though our goals oppose each other, we both share this: the destruction of the present."

"Okay... I'll give you that... but you... you are definitely not a good party member to have around."

"But Tomura! He-"

"Get this piece of shit off me, Kurogiri!" Shigaraki wriggled. "And most of all, dump him back at whatever trash pile you found him in!"

Stain then got his foot off him but left the knife embedded in the villain's palm, mainly as a reminder.

"Negotiations are over. Return me to Hosu. There are a few things I need to take care of," Stain said with a growing grin.

As soon he was gone...

The merc was a bit shocked, especially at Stain's skills, sputtering: "He knew several styles... and I can tell that wasn't his full hand."

Shigaraki had to a double-take, saying: "W-What?! That fucker was holding back!? Is that what you're saying!"

Bloodgash nodded.

"What the fuck were they?"

"Chinese and Japanese martial arts. Taizan Kenbujutsu: a sword-based style; Koso Kenpo: A tiger-based fighting style with some Jeet Kune Do influence; Haiyang Wu: The Ocean Dance, mimics the movements of oceans: the calmness of the current or the raging power of a tidal wave."

"Why's that one-"

"The third one never left China."

"Where the fuck did he learn these styles?!"

"Likely someone in the underworld..."

Edgeshot Agency

Momo and Izuku were in meditative poses, clearing their heads... however, Izuku's hands were balled into fists. Edgeshot noticed this, wondering if his violent side was always there, and his intern's teacher unlocked it when training him.

"Midoriya, are you alright?"

The green-haired kid was caught off-guard for a bit, looking at his fists balled up.

"What's wrong with me...?"

"Midoriya, you can tell me what's troubling you."

This was a bad idea for reasons, he can't reveal his secret, well, secrets. The first one being Hokuto Shinken. The second one being that he sparred with underground fighters. The third one being Itsuka Kendo who's in the same boat as he is.

"Well..."

Okay, he can reveal part of the secret.

"Hmm...?"

Izuku sighed softly, realizing that his master would potentially kill him for this, but had to say it. "A...possible origin for my violent side: Prior to UA, my master let me spar with fighters from the underground and the public sphere."

Edgeshot's eyebrow twitched for a bit, followed by Momo's eyes widening at this revelation.

"Did you put anyone in the hospital?"

Izuku had to turn his head toward him, nodding no.

"I see... okay, that would explain your performance at the Sports Festival and there's something else, is there?"

Izuku gulped a bit.

"Uh... well... my master barely held back in sparring."

Edgeshot sighed a bit, realizing that Izuku was a bit lost. "Well, it was inevitable, I guess."

Both interns looked at him, wondering what exactly he meant by that. The ninja hero sat down and said this as a precaution, gaining full attention from both.

"What I am about to tell you can never... I mean... never leave this room."

Edgeshot exhaled, getting any potential jitters out.

"I was in a dark period of my life but it was the same time I met my master. He was different but kindhearted enough to train me... his name? Sunagumo."

"Sand Spider...?" questioned Momo.

"He was from Shura-Kokka and most of all, the successor to a murderous fist."

Momo's eyes widen while Izuku listened intently.

"It is called Shura Nindo."

Mirko Agency

Mina was out on patrol with Mirko in Kushiba City, only stopping a few robberies here and there. However, there was something she wanted to ask.

"How come you're not part of a team?"

"It's for cowards."

She had to do a double-take, wondering if she misheard that.

"Wait, why?"

"Let's just say my experiences working with a team soured my overall view on it..."

"Wanna talk about it?"

"Fine. A disastrous rescue mission in which a Hero team screwed up... I had to pick up the slack on their part. They focused too much on making it look good and the worst part? They had Quirks suited for it too!"

"...Wow..." Mina said in disbelief.

"Yea... the mission in question: getting people out of an overturned truck in the countryside."

As she continued, Mina was disgusted with the way some of these pros act, but if anything? It provided her more of an incentive to be a solid Pro Hero, that way she doesn't end up like them: fame-hungry, complacent, and lazy.

Battle Company Agency

Ochako was training underneath Gunhead... oh boy, Gunhead did not mince words.

"Remember, Uraraka. Give a stiff, strong jab. Otherwise, the enemy's gonna walk all over you!"

BAM!

"Good, again!"

BAM!

"Turn your shoulder further!" yelled Kiryu.

BAM!

The punching bag was sent back a bit. That was Ochako's first taste of Gunhead Combatives: all based around self-defense, disarmament, and also taking out the opponent in a few strikes.

"What styles did you learn?" asked a curious Ochako.

"A bit of Krav Maga, Silat, and some military combatives. All with one goal: quickly disarming and suppressing any would-be villain."

The gravity girl realized she was going to be completely exhausted at the end of the day.

"Little sis, if there's an enemy that's at mid-range. I recommend a quick roundhouse kick to the side, centered at the elbow," Kiryu said, getting his sister's attention. Gunhead brought a decently-sized punching bag, big enough to match the size of say, a large attacker.

Kiryu got into a normal stance and said: "Observe!"

WHAM!

The quick kick sent ripples throughout the bag, shocking both sister and teacher, the latter more so. "Are you sure you're just an MMA fighter?"

"Yup. Featherweight Belt speaks for itself."

Hosu City

"Hey, Iida. You're after the Hero Killer, are you?" Manual said.

Iida, even in his full gear, was caught off guard by that.

"Listen, we don't have the authority to dole out punishments, and well... vigilantism is still a crime."

"Yes... I understand..." Iida responded, sounding forced.

"Hey, I get it. You're angry over what happened to your brother. But personal grudges shouldn't be a thing in our line of work, it makes us no different than the run-of-the-mill vigilante."

Iida nodded but was biding his time to find the Hero Killer. However, the big question is this: Will he kill him or capture him [after giving him a taste of his own medicine]?

'I'll cross that bridge when I get there...'

"Iida, do you have any friends?"

"Uh...yes."

"Don't you think they would be worried if you did something drastic?" Manual said with a bit of seriousness.

"R...Right. Well, I'm not on good terms with them right now," Iida said, albeit wondering if Manual's trying-

"What happened, Iida?"

"Um...I got into a fight with them..."

"Wait, how did that-"

"I was in an emotional place... it got worse where I got into a physical fight with one of them-"

"Okay. When your week is up, I want you to apologize for acting that way. If they're truly your friends, I'm sure you'll be on good terms again. Sure, it'll take time, but it's worth it," Manual said with a reassuring smile.

Edgeshot Agency

"...Shura...Nindo?" Momo repeated, the term sounding foreign to her. However, Izuku understood immediately: Edgeshot's the current successor to Shura Nindo.

"Yes. An assassin's fist. Its main purpose is to aim for the vitals by any means necessary."

"But...how did you manage to hide that?" asked Momo, Izuku was interested to hear this too.

"Well. I had to alter some of its techniques to have a non-lethal edge to it. Wound, not kill. Incapacitate, not eliminate," Edgeshot explained. "Heh, Sunagumo-Sensei would have wrung my neck for that."

"How was he like really?" asked Izuku.

"Very warrior-like in mentality but he respected my wishes to become a Pro Hero. It just meant that he wasn't going to hold back from Day One."

Momo and Izuku, well, mainly the former shuddered at how ruthless this Sunagumo was.

"However, it's better I show you instead of telling..." said Edgeshot as got up, getting into a combat stance. "Alright, one or two, come at me."

Izuku steps up first, immediately launching himself towards the hero!

"What the?!"

Phantom Spider's Pace!

BAM!

Izuku felt his world turn with that well-placed strike. However, Momo saw it very clearly. Edgeshot was standing still, but that was the thing! It just phased right through!

But there it was.

The real Edgeshot stepping to the side and unleashing a hook punch into Izuku's cheek.

The ninja hero wasn't done quite yet, saying: "Care to try again or would you like to step up, Yaoyorozu?"

The onyx-haired girl stood up wordlessly, motioning for Izuku to sit this one out, the green-haired boy agreed. As she stepped, she generated a staff. In response, Edgeshot pulled out twin combat sticks.

Momo went first, swinging the staff in an arc-like pattern.

"Too predictable."

WHIFF!

Edgeshot seamlessly blocks the attack, then slides through!

Ninkon Bewitching Destruction Formation!

'Oh, no...'

Izuku noticed Edgeshot's insane torque when throwing such strikes, especially with those combat sticks. Momo was barely holding up! She even let go of her staff to try guarding herself but it was for naught...

WHACK!

A horizontal strike sent Momo flying!

"What... the... fuck?" asked an astonished Izuku.

"That's but a taste of Shura Nindo. We will start training in one hour."

Momo, nursing her wounds, gave a thumbs-up in response while Izuku nodded in understanding.

"It's hard to believe... an assassin's fist underneath our noses..." Momo said, still in a bit of disbelief.

"It's 50/50 for me," Midoriya responded, slowly letting his guard down.

Momo had to do a double-take, asking why 50/50.

"I guess I should come clean about the underground fighters... my master believed that I should be exposed to various styles to expand my view," Midoriya explained. He didn't want to mention Kendo, Rouga, or Carmilla for that matter. That would open up another can of worms too.

"But...did you-"

"Go too far? No," answered Midoriya. "But I didn't hold back, it would be pretty insulting to my opponents."

Momo narrowed her eyes at him, wondering if this mindset is more fighter-like than that of a hero, but... she couldn't really fault him for it. Izuku's master is part of the reason why he's here in UA, to begin with.

"I'm sorry...for judging you and...your master. What I did... was way out of line."

"As I said, save it..." Izuku responded. Momo's face fell for a bit, but the boy continued. "However, I'll partially accept it."

The girl's eyes closed for a bit, but said: "Thank you, Midoriya..."

"You still have to apologize to my master either way."

'I'll take what I can get, but thank you again.'

Hosu City

Iida was prepared for many things, but a crime scene like this? It almost made him want to forget about his pursuit of the Hero Killer. Almost.

"Oh... crap..." muttered Manual. "I didn't think we would come across a crime scene at this time."

A well-known Pro Hero was found, no, parts of him were found in an alleyway.

"W-W-what just happened?!" exclaimed Iida, close to losing his lunch.

"Mister Blaster, Age: 31, Quirk: Blast. Found murdered at 9:30 PM," said one of the forensics, reading off what happened. Despite the clinical tone, it didn't dilute the carnage of what happened here.

"Manual, we found CCTV footage," said one of the investigating detectives. As Manual asked to see it, he was surprised by what actually transpired...

CCTV
Property: Sterngate Securities
Time: 9:23:20

Mister Blaster: HOLD IT RIGHT THERE, HERO KILLER!

Stain: Another faker, huh? I don't have time for you.

The Hero Killer ran in the opposite direction, right into the alleyway where the crime scene happened. As soon as he reached the middle of the alleyway, Mister Blaster was barreling towards him!

Mister Blaster: I have you-

WHAM!

Stain responded with a very fast low kick, almost fracturing the hero's leg!

Mister Blaster [clutching leg]: You little-

BAM!

Stain responded with a rising back kick, straight into Mister Blaster's stomach, but the strangest thing? He was sent into the air from the kick's sheer force alone!

"He's a skilled martial artist..." Manual stated in a bit of disbelief.

"Keep watching."

Mister Blaster landed on his knees, definitely feeling some ribs break.

Mister Blaster: ...Bastard...

As the hero slowly got up, Stain then unloaded a barrage of strikes into the injured pro hero.

Jiliu Chui!

The muscular hero was barely putting up his guard, but managed to get one strike in!

Stain: Annoying bastard...

Light Burst!

A series of energy blasts came blasting from the hero's palms! Stain quickly dodged to the side, but Mister Blaster was keeping him at bay!

Mister Blaster: HAH! Can't get close enough, can you?!

Stain: Hmph. Annoying but nothing too special.

Mister Blaster: What?!

Stain threw a knife towards the pro hero, causing him to briefly stop his volley, and dodge out of the way. However, the Hero Killer did something strange...it's like he merged into the shadows...

"D...D...Did he just-"

"I know, it's weird... it's like he erased his presence."

Iida was silently watching the footage.

Mister Blaster: Where the hell did you go?! Where?!

The pro hero tried to fire off but noticed there was nothing there.

SHINK!

Stain appeared out of the blue, stabbing Mister Blaster in the gut! With his bare hand!

GAHCK!

Stain: Is this all that a hero can do at this point?

Mister Blaster: FUCK. YOU.

Stain: ...Disgraceful.

SPLORCH!

Silent Spear!

Mister Blaster faltered...arms briefly dropping...then dropping to his knees.

"Aw...god...right to the throat!" Manual responded. Iida was letting this sink in, this Stain was dangerous, and most of all, he saw his main weapon: bare-handed fighting.

"Trust me, it gets worse, Manual."

Stain: You will be a sacrifice for a better world.

Nanto Soundless Slaughter!

Stain prepped his hands like they were blades, then sliced through Mister Blaster's shoulder within seconds, and...kept slicing through!

The frightening part? Mister Blaster didn't make a sound at all.

The attack took only a minute.

By the time Stain escaped, Mister Blaster was no more...

"Stain's a bigger danger than I thought. Iida!" exclaimed Manual, getting Iida's attention.

"Yes, Manual?"

"Will this be enough to deter you from pursuing him now?"

"Yes..." Iida said, gritting his teeth. However, how long that would last is anyone's guess.

'Stain's power... w-w-what was that?!'

Iida's hand was shaking in frustration but also fear?

Battle Company Agency

Ochako was on patrol with Gunhead, mainly the evening patrol for the day. The soldier-like hero explained how Pro Heroes get paid...like so.

"When a crime occurs, the local police contact us, and the requests are usually filtered by the district. Once the crime is handled, paperwork needs to be done, filing on what we did," Gunhead stated, knowing the process goes.

"Rescuing or assisting in an arrest?"

"Good, you're catching on. Another thing to mention is this: a special agency looks at our work and decides how much we should be paid. It seems like a lot, but you'll get the hang of it pretty soon."

"...well, there's one thing I need to ask."

"Ask away."

"A friend of mine... had some troubles lately."

"In what way?"

"Um...it's related to his older brother, a Pro Hero in Hosu City."

"Wait. Ingenium?"

Ochako nodded.

"Oh, you don't think-"

"That's what I'm very worried about."

"Tell you what? We go to patrol Hosu City tomorrow."

"Wait, is there a reason?"

"Well, the Commission will likely need a whole crew of Pros after the Hero Killer made his presence known. On top of that, it's a good way to do some investigative work too."

Ochako nodded in understanding, hoping she can get to Iida before he does something drastic, no, high-risk.

Kushiba City

POW!

"Behind you!"

POW!

"Faster, Ashido!"

POW!

Mina didn't expect to fight a burglar at this point but never expected him to start fighting back. However, the burglar in question was kinda durable. But not durable enough...

BOOM!

An explosive roundhouse was sent into the burglar's face!

"Aw fuck!"

The burglar wasn't down. Yet. As soon as he got up, he was charging towards Ashido!

"HUP!"

WHAM!

A devastating front kick right into the burglar's stomach, finally KO'ing the burglar. As soon as the scuffle finished, Mirko saw to detaining this small burglary ring, commending Ashido for handling it.

"But goddamn. That burglar's not getting back up."

"Who were these guys anyway?"

"A small burglary ring."

"What's next?"

"Well, we wait for the local police to show up and cart these guys off to a cell. Oh, I need to say this. We're likely headed for Hosu City tomorrow afternoon."

"The Hero Killer, right?"

"Ever since he made his presence there, there's been a request for nearby heroes, that's where we come in, we're needed to catch this guy sooner or later."

"Crap! Any leads on the guy?" exclaimed Ashido.

"Only that he was last seen in a residential part of Hosu City, that's about it."

Edgeshot Agency

"Now... clear your mind..."

Momo and Izuku were once again in meditative poses but were covered in some bandages after physical training. The latter felt less tension in his hands, wondering if Edgeshot's meditation was starting to temper his violent side, he wasn't 100% sure. From Momo's view, she felt that the training was clearing her doubts, and on top of that: improving her own combat skills overall.

In fact, she felt that the previous way she fought was too passive.

On another level, she wanted to pay Ashido back, but, wait, why did she have a thought like that?

'Is my temper that difficult to reign in? Or is it a grudge?'

"As soon as we are done, we will go on patrol."

Both interns understood.

Hosu City Rooftops

"Hmm...disgusting. Even Master Kagehama would be incurred into slaughtering these fakers," responded Stain. "So there's no real hero as of today, the sole exception being All-Might."

The dead of night was a great cover for the Hero Killer.

"Ironic, isn't it? I could have become a Pro Hero but...that wasn't in the cards, to begin with. Never knew a hero academy would expose me to the worst and they were supposed to be the newest generation of heroes," said Stain, remembering his time as a teenager with hopes and dreams. "Now, I have an actual purpose."

Stain got into a combat stance, ready to leap into the alleyways below...

Author's Note: However, I want to ask my readers. Should the story be more brutal or should it stay as it is? [the techniques are still gonna be there though]

The title's a reference to a chapter in Fist of the North Star [Deadly Boomerangs], specifically the start of Kenshiro's confrontation with Colonel.

Steel Tiger's Bite - A vice-grip hold around the target's face, lifting him/her in the air, and guess what? The enemy becomes a punching bag for liver shots specifically. Its name would Kokogami.

Rou Xiliu Men - A blocking technique in which the user parries all sorts of strikes coming at them, but it's to make them waste energy. The coup de grace is an uppercut for the most part. Its name would be Juryumon or Soft Streaming Gate.

Blood Swallow Slash - A surprise attack utilizing twin swords, mainly leaving gashes at the shoulders. Its original name would be Ketsuengiri.

Jiliu Chui - A rapid series of straights, jabs, and the occasional uppercut is sent into the opponent's frame like a torrent of hard rain. Its name would be Gekiryu Atemi or Torrent Blow for the English speakers.

Phantom Spider's Pace - A sidestep technique in which the user does so at the last moment, fooling the enemy into attacking an afterimage. Its original name would be Yugumoho.

Nanto Soundless Slaughter - It's best used on a wounded opponent, the user goes on a slashing barrage, slicing the enemy into bits. It lives up to the name because the victim and user don't make a sound once the attack commences. Its name in Japanese would be Nanto Muon Satsu.

Stay tuned for the next chapter!
