Phoe's Tumblr Drabbles

The relationship between King Triton of Atlantis and Percy Jackson, the newest counselor at camp, was somewhat of an open relationship. Pallas, youngest daughter of Triton and supervisor of Camp Sea-Foam, was the first to notice. For one, because her father's visits at camp had drastically increased ever since Percy Jackson had started working here. He'd moved to Atlantis after the Giant War and, a couple months later, started working at the merpeople summer camp, because it reminded him of his own camp. He taught young mermaids and merboys how to defend themselves and he also taught them about the surface world. He had integrated well into the camp and Pallas had to admit that she quickly grew fond of him – and he of her. According to him, she reminded Percy of one of his best friends, a girl named Annabeth. Pallas hoped to one day meet her in person, but for now she simply accepted it as a compliment, because of the way he said it.

Only a few weeks into Percy working here, Triton started coming over more and more regularly. At first, Pallas had thought it was because of her – that he worried for his daughter. So she met her sisters to complain about it, yet Triteia, her oldest sister, assured her that it wasn't about her. Triton paid much more attention to his physical appearance these days, more jewelry, precise braids in his beard and hair to keep it contained even in the flowing water, finer silk. Triteia told her that she suspected their father was wooing someone and with that, Pallas started paying closer attention to their father whenever he came visit them at camp.

It had been one afternoon, when Percy and Pallas' other sister Calliste were sparring with each other that Pallas knew for sure. Because Calliste threw Percy over her shoulder and he landed on the ground... and it was Triton who helped him up. Though he pulled Percy up with a little too much power, causing the human-turned-merman to collide chest to chest with Triton. They hugged a bit awkwardly and definitely longer than would be normal even for a real hug, but whatever they were doing wasn't even hugging. They just... stood in each other's arms.

"So—o... that's the step-parent Triteia suspected, huh?" Calliste whispered with a snicker.

At that, Pallas too started laughing, until they gained the attention of Triton and Percy, both looking confused and in Percy's case a flustered purple (since his skin and tail were a soft azure blue).

"What is it?" asked Percy, not even noticing that he was still holding Triton's hand.

"Nothing. We were just wondering when father is going to invite you to family dinner... step-mom."

"Calliste!" Triton's voice thundered, though he flushed just as hard as Percy.
