43.- Prologue III: Kurtis Trent, part II
Before leaving the Karel estate, Lara issues a warning: don't open that door. For her it's a simple statement. She's been there before. But Kurtis? He's still inexperienced. He still thinks he has a chance. If Lara has managed it, he will.

COME BOY… AND COMPLETE YOUR REVENGE.

It's the Sanglyph beneath the ashes of Gunderson calling Kurtis Trent, and the boy fulfilling the call. Is it OK, though? Lara's been quite clear: don't open that door. "I got this," Kurtis thinks. "Whatever is behind that door, I will defeat it." It has been silent for a while, the screams have subsided. Kurtis activates the Sanglyph to open the door to Karel's Last Dominion.

Behind the opening door a man stands. Is it Karel? It looks like him, but it feels completely different. As if he were another man. His flesh, in full decay. His voice has completely changed. Kurtis tries to use the Sanglyph against him, but he just stands in full fear. The Sanglyph simply disintegrates before his eyes. "I'd love to eat you on spot, but I have no time," Karel says. "You are not worthy of my blood sign." And so, Karel walks away as if Kurtis weren't standing there.
